I feel so much better about my craft seeing that you’ve not weaved in your ends yet at this stage either, 😂 I’m making this for a friend and I’m having the best time seeing it come together!!
I have started making one of these blankets. It’s going to take a while for sure. I am using Big Twist yarn. I had to go down to a 4.00 hook which is kind of a pain as it makes the yarn split more. Anyway I also noticed your clusters were much tighter than mine. My first few circles were so huge. 😅 So once I tightened them up I got down to circles with a 5 inch diameter. The wool of the Andes yarn you use looks beautiful but with the amount needed it’s too expensive for me. But I love how fast you crochet. With the Big Twist and a 4 hook I can’t go as fast. Anyhoo this blanket is so striking. I hope mine comes out as nice. Or close to it.
Can you use that same join method that you used in the granny square tutorial? The one where you remove the hook and reinsert it instead of doing a slip stitch in each stitch?
somewhat begginer here : How would you block this or do you need to block it? I love this technique so much your explanation makes it seems so easy and it aves so much ends waving but I want my blanket to look very nice!
I don't think you'd need to block this, but you certainly could! If you are using a wool or wool blend yarn, you could wet block or steam block the same way you would anything else, you'd just need a large surface and a lot of pins if you make a large blanket! For cotton, steam blocking should work, and you can try steam blocking with acrylic. I have had mixed results with acrylic blocking.
For lefties…instead of working right to left across the rows you’ll be working left to right. So start with your top left square from the diagram and join your yarn in the top left corner. Work across the top in the same way I do in the jaygo video -but then down the right side of the square (rather than the left as a right handed individual would). Once you get to the bottom of the square on the right side…join your next square by doing your standing dc stitch into the bottom left hand corner. Work back up the side of the square sl stitching them together….then across the top (from left to right) and down the right side of the square you just joined. Keep going exactly this way until you get to the final (far right) square of your row. Now you have to finish the bottom sides of each square along your row. Do this by work from right to left until you get back to the very first square! Continue on with row 2 etc. Hope this helps!! M
At time stamp, 12:50, you’re adding the second set of four crochet to complete the corner , there isn’t the two stitches in between. Are those skipped when we join? I purchased your pattern so I will double check the pattern. Im just horrible at reading patterns, they overwhelm me .
You can-you just need to increase the cluster stitch by one and then out more chains in between. It tends to end up looking really spacey and messy though… which is why I stop at the round I do ☺️
I complete all of mine first. This is my second blanket of hers using this tutorial. You could create enough for a row and join, complete another row, and join etc too.
I’m not sure what you mean-I haven’t chained 2 in any Rolf the corners….unless you’re talking about before I put a standing stitch while joining a new motif? I ch 2 there because it’s really difficult to find a ch 1 when you make the pass back along the bottom of the row.
@@nautikrallcrochet the first circle you make into a square has two chains in the corners but when you are adding the circle and completing the join and corner there’s only one chain between the 4 trebles
I see-yes I find the only chaining 1 is the best fit. Chaining nothing makes my corners too tight, chaining 2 makes them sloppy, chaining 1 gives the perfect amount of room to work while keeping a tidy looking corner.
Not sure if u check comments, I’m using my husbands RUclips account, but do you have a suggestion on a yarn color to replace cloud? It is out of stock and I’m really wanting to start this blanket…ha! Have you seen anyone do this blanket with a totally different background color other than cloud? I love cloud but just not wanting to wait until May to order 🤦🏻♀️
Hi! You can use wool of the Andes superwash in colour white OR put in the search bar “wool of the Andes worsted bare” but keep in mind the bare comes in 100g skeins instead of the 50g skeins! ♥️
Hi Shannon! The link is located down in the “border” section. Here’s the link: www.nautikrallcrochet.com/blog-freepatterns/island-time-blanket-pattern Happy crocheting!
You do do it backwards! For lefties…instead of working right to left across the rows you’ll be working left to right. So start with your top left square from the diagram and join your yarn in the top left corner. Work across the top in the same way I do in the jaygo video -but then down the right side of the square (rather than the left as a right handed individual would). Do this by work from right to left until you get back to the very first square! Continue on with row 2 etc. Hope this helps!! M
You are putting 4 stitches in the borders whereas in the video for the "large sunburst granny" you put 3. Does it matter whether it is 4 or 3 stitches? Or did I miss something somewhere. Thanks.
Hi! It does matter (sort of) if you put 4 or 3-this joining tutorial was specific to the Island time blanket pattern (free on my blog) where I used 4 stitches. That’s where the 4 comes in. I didn’t re-do the main large sunburst because in the written pattern it’s made very clear to use 4 stitches in your square round. If you’re doing regular large sunbursts and you aren’t following the island time blanket pattern it will absolutely work with 3! So in a nut shell it works either way 😅 Here’s the link to the island time blanket pattern for reference: www.nautikrallcrochet.com/blog-freepatterns/island-time-blanket-pattern All the best, M☺️
Hey, I'm curious if I make the square separately, and then join them with a slip stitch on every loop, will I get the texture like that (in between every square) just like you do? Thanks!
Thank you for doing a continuous join as you go for round motifs! Very clear instructions and easy to follow. New sub for sure.

I am just starting the pom pom border..do you have to do a single cro het all around the blanket first?
Any recommendations for a lefty on how to do this join?. I am usually pretty good at just adapting, but am having a hard time with this one.

I’m doing solid color burst. It’s a worsted weight. Should I use three or four in each space as I join them?
Would you have any idea if it would be possible to make an even larger sunburst and to keep it as a flat circle. Thank you.
You can-you just need to increase the cluster stitch by one and then out more chains in between. It tends to end up looking really spacey and messy though… which is why I stop at the round I do ☺️
Hi there! I finished but I feel like it is a bit small. Is there a way to continuously join onto the finished blanket?
Newbie here! I’ve completed 2 sunburst so far. Do you complete all sunburst before starting this step?
I complete all of mine first. This is my second blanket of hers using this tutorial. You could create enough for a row and join, complete another row, and join etc too.
At 18:34 you say we complete the corner with half double crochet, but aren't the corners all trebles?
I think she just misspoke because those are def trebles she’s doing!
Hello, when you joined the first two corners and completed the first four trebles, do you not chain two to complete the other four trebles?
Oh, i Just saw another comment about this, sorry
Why do you chain 2 in some corners and the join corners only one?

Does anyone know where I can find a join as you go for left handed? I assumed I just do it backwards but I’m not 100%sure
