Hi Robin Can I just thank you for what you do. During the pandemic I learnt to crochet from your channel and crocheted many flower key rings and left them in letterboxes for ppl to find ( I emptied the Covid tests out of letterboxes at the time) When my mum had a stroke I would crochet and leave the key rings for the nurses 3 months ago I slipped a disc and not being able to work I turned to crocheting key rings again, and currently I’m 34 squares down into creating this blanket. Thank you Robin Kind regards Mel
Ah yes sorry about that, I have the notifications for the CAL videos turned off and I didn't realise that meant it hides it from the subscription feed too 😬
I haven't crochet for mos. I couldn't find your app. I'm so thrilled to find this . Yoour enthusiasm inspires me. I'm 84 .just spent another week in hosp. Have lung problems . But you male me feel good. Keep up your beautiful work
I’ve been obsessed with this since your first video on this joining style! I first used it for a hexagon blanket, and I’m using on a temperature blanket with 2 round solid granny squares. I actually also use it to join any panels instead of sewing after the fact. Feels more secure, and I just hate sewing. 😂
I absolutely love all of your videos.I'm here in the u s. 3 years ago I lost most of my vision. I picked up my crochet that I did when I was younger. And your videos for me are very easy to follow. Thank you so much, happy Crocheting
I've been crocheting for about 3 decades, and never really "got into" making granny squares, but Robin since I've been following your channel, I am obsessed with these. Such a great way to use up scraps, and I'm having fun trying out different color combinations. Thank you Robin!
The best join ever. Really pretty and nice worth all the effort. I love it and very well explained, illustrated and excellent camera and angles. A very well made and clear video of the best join ever for crotchet.😊
Out of all the ways I have seen to join I ❤❤this one. It’s neat and clean and very pretty. I will have to watch this video a few more times to “get it” 😂. Thanks again Robin 🌻gayle
Wonderful JAYG method,i've always shyed away from this, but you've made it so easy to comprehend,i'll be doing it for this CAL and for the future projects 😊 Thank you again ,can't wait ! ❤
Once you get going, you definitely get into a rhythm and the beauty is, if you miss a stitch, you find out very quickly if something is amiss because it won't line up by the end of the side you're joining - saves having to undo several rows before spotting an error! (I've done that before lol oops)
Oh, that's clever. I've 'experimented' a bit with joining without looking up any tutorials first. But this looks much better than what I came up with (the crochet equivalent of a really ugly scar, lol).
hiya robin! i like this. the result is a terrific look especially with something so very colorful. i love how this "trades" the colors used as a braid. super for bags and sweaters.
Thank you for this video. I am using this join with another project but they did not explain the corners very well and it was bugging me. I can finish my project with confidence thanks to you!
Thank you Robin for showing this method of joining in a great close up and slow, so we can see the method. I love this blanket design and will checkout the link. That crochet hook looked comfortable…who is the manufacturer?
Hi Robin, thank you for sharing your wonderful knowledge, tutorials and patterns - I’m so looking forward to making this gorgeous blanket. Just a question, when you put the loop back on the hook, I noticed that you put it on through the back of the loop, and not the front of the loop (ie, the direction it came off the hook). Is there a reason for this? Thank you for taking the time to read my reply. 😊
Oh no! I'm so sorry Maria - I had turned off notifications so I wouldn't annoy people but I didn't realise it would have the opposite effect! I'm turning the notifications back on for all future videos x
Trying to size & color match the yarn, as the cheapest I can find for the yarn you used is well over 100$ (mainly because of shipping), besides "chunky" is there a weight number for this yarn? I can't for the life of me find a picture of the label.
It sits somewhere between a 4 and 5 I believe - I used a J-10 hook so anything that suits that sort of size. You can use any weight you fancy, the only difference will be in the size of the square you make :)
Hi Robin! This might be a stupid question ... if we are going to use this JAYG method.. does this mean we have to make the squares and leave them half finished?
Not a stupid question at all! If you are following the CAL blanket exactly, then it's probably best to wait until all the videos are uploaded (all the squares will be up by June 13th) BUT if you wanted to get a head start then yes, leave the last round unfinished 😀 (I hope that makes sense?)

Thank you! I looked and looked and I just could not find it from the Join link. 😊

Did this video NOT show up in anyone else's subscriber feed? I went to your channel to find an older video and just saw this now 😮
Ah yes sorry about that, I have the notifications for the CAL videos turned off and I didn't realise that meant it hides it from the subscription feed too 😬
I think I need to make a blanket just to use this method. Love the end result. Not as fiddley as a needle 😂.
😂 that's very true!

Robin I just finished joining my blanket how could you XD Now I have to make another one lol
You can never have too many blankets!😅
What yarn are you using for this project? I'm absolutely obsessed with the colors and want my blanket to be similar ♥️
Hi Sam, yarn information and how much I used is here: www.hookedbyrobin.com/blog/festival-pic-n-mix-blanket-crochet-along 😃

@@HookedbyRobin I love her she is so kind
Hi, great video. You mentioned you are using chunky yarn. Is that a size 5 yarn?
