I’ve been looking at videos on how to join squares for the past few days. Today I finally came across this one and managed to successfully start joining 9/80 squares! It’s a Great video that’s easy to follow and understand.
I'm so glad it's been helpful :)
HOW DO YOU ADD MORE AFTER 9
Thank you for showing the paper diagram and for continuing to reference how all the squares fit together. Very helpful!
You are very welcome :)
This has come just at the right time as I’m crocheting a poncho, and getting to the point of joining them together
Just what I needed, as I’m coming to the end of making all my granny squares and was wondering what to do next! Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
I was looking through your channel, and in the for you section, I saw this, and im making a blanket with granny squares. Thank you. I needed this one.😅
Same here 😂😅 And for every question I had in my mind, she came with the answer in the next second

Love you so so so so so so so so so so so much love you too
You are a life saver! After watching many other videos..... finally, I understand! 🎉 Thank you for your very helpful explanation and diagram!
You are very welcome :)
I've used this method before to join a number of squares a friend had from her mother. It's satisfying & fun! (Btw, really like your right hand ring, lovely!)
I'm in love with your ideas
Mentally preparing to make my first blanket soon. These videos have been very informative and so helpful. If this is an option on the pattern I choose, I for sure will be trying this method.
I'm glad it's helped you :)
Thank you so much!!! I watched other videos and they confused me so bad. This was simple and easy
You're welcome :)
Thank you so much! I've got 42 daisy granny squares that I've been procrastinating putting together. With this I'm going to start tomorrow. I can't wait to get started putting them together now!
You are very welcome :)
What a great tutorial for joining squares. It took me a while to get it, but I finally did!
I'm glad you liked it :)
Merci tellement pour votre superbe vidéo et tellement facile à comprendre! Je suis une québécoise francophone et je comprends tout!!!! Merci beaucoup pour votre adorable commentaire Francine. Je suis tellement contente qu'ils vous aient été utiles :)
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I was desperately looking for. Its amazing how it came just as I was searching. I love your tutorials. Bless you. ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤
You're very welcome :)
I love this method! I can’t stand the idea of sewing squares together.
Easy to follow, much better join than sewing as it stretches.
Wonderful! Thanks for such a thorough tutorial!
You're welcome :)
Hi Bella, I am an avid fan of yours and this method is just awesome. Thankyou so much for sharing this video and all wonderful help. I will be joining all my blankets by this method from now on.
You are very welcome :)
Excellent tutorial! Thank you
You're welcome :)
Great video very helpful 🤩
Thank you, i'm glad it was helpful :)
Thank you so much, I finally understand perfectly!❤
You're welcome :)
Love this just gave it a go surprisingly worked out well thankyou
You’re welcome 😊
Haha, just found your left-handed version. Thank you so much. X
You’re welcome 😊
Hi Sarah-Jayne. Great video! I love this method! Thanks for sharing!😊🤗
You're welcome :)
😊😊
Thank you ❤️ very helpful
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you! I love the look of granny square crochet but have avoided making afghans, scarves or shawls with them because I hated the joining process by sewing them together ( the only method I had ever seen). This encourages me to try a traditional granny square piece after many years. I have done several afghans that are just one giant granny square but it’s not the same.
You are very welcome :)
This is so funny because I’m working on a continuous border/join on a linen stitch square blanket! I think this is going to be very similar to the method I’m basing my work on, which was a tutorial from Hooked by Robin.
Thank you so much
You're welcome :)
Hi there!
Could I please ask if you have a video of turning a heart shaped crochet into a granny square?
Thanks in advance
Thankyou for such a good tutorial at a nice pace too. I’m making a cardigan and I have followed your method but I am now stuck as I have come to the triangle I used for the neckline. I have joined it on 2 sides successfully but not sure what to do with the diagonal side of the triangle as there are no spaces as such to do the double crochets in if you know what I mean. Do you have a tutorial for this?
Same here! Thank you! Any chance of a left-handed tutorial please? Would be really helpful as we "lefties" work the other way around 😄 tfs though
I will definitely be trying this . I dislike Granny Squares because of sewing them up
Hi
Just wondering if anyone or if in fact Ms. Bella herself can offer a tutorial on a Bobo bag. I would dearly love to make one. Regards
Great tutorial, thank you. Is it possible to adapt this method for hex designs?
You would definitely be able to use the join as you go method, however I’m not sure about working it continuously. You would need to draw a diagram and see if you could work out the direction to work in 😊
@@bellacococrochet thank you for the reply. I will try that ☺️
Great video, super clear. Could I check, did you block the squares before joining them all together? I’m making a shirt do not sure whether to block it and when? Thank you for your advice😊
Thank you, I'm glad you like it 😊 It comes down to personal preference whether you block them or not; if you turn your granny square after each round it should work up nice and straight, so no need to block.
This is awesome, and will be very handy with my next temperature blanket, thanks! If we didn’t want the holes in it, do you think it’d work if before you pulled your last loop through in your treble crochets when joining between the two sides, you put your hook in the top of the other side and pull a loop through that one and pull through all three? Or do you think it’d be too bulky? Maybe back loop only to stretch it out a bit?
You’re welcome, I’m glad you like it! 😊 For the method you describe, I would work your treble crochet as normal, remove your hook, pop your hook through the corresponding stitch on the square you’re attaching to, and then pull the loop through and begin working your next stitch. Hope that makes sense!
@@bellacococrochet yepp yepp! That makes perfect sense! Thanks!
I've made your sunburst granny that has double trebles in the corner do I have to join differently using this method or can I swap to trebles in the corner now?
The double trebles are just to make the initial square shape; you can just swap to using trebles once you come to joining after this round 😊
Thank you for a good preview of what I need to do next. (I'm working on my first granny squares throw.) Just wondering; do you not block your squares before you join them?
You’re welcome 😊 You can block them if you wish but it’s not really necessary; especially if you turn your squares after each round as you’ll find they work up nice and straight then.
Can you use this technique for doing say a Christmas stocking? Your granny squares are the exact same style that I'm going to need to do, and as I'm looking at my great grandmother's crochet job on the stocking she did, it appears that she may have done the attaching of each granny square in this same style
You can use this method for different shapes but I would recommend drawing out a diagram of your squares first, to work out the order of the join and see whether it will be possible 😊 You may find that you need to use the join as you go technique (but not a continuous join).
I’m working on a granny square gardigan and using this join as you go stitch to get all the granny squares together, but sadly i don’t understand how to join the whole gardigan all in one go, so i’m now joining all the panels ( front panel, back panel and sleeves) separately first to then sew them together.. i don’t know yet whether this is the right way or how to do this so if you have any tips or advices it would be so much appreciated!
That sounds like you’re doing it the right way to me 😊 It can be tricky to join all of the squares for a project in one continuous join when it’s a more complicated shape (eg. not a blanket) but drawing out a diagram on some paper can help you plan out the order of the joining, and to see whether it’s possible.
I want to make a sweater using this method. How would you suggest doing the sleeves?
It would probably be simplest to work the sleeves separately and seam them to the sweater; you could join the squares into a rectangle to make the sleeves but it will depend on whether you want to work any shaping etc 😊
Question.... what if I decide I want a double border around the outer edge? Would I do a chain, slip stitch, chain into the spot where the corners meet still or would I do a treble crochet in one of the corner meets loops. I hope this makes sense
If you want to work a border once you’ve joined all of your squares, I would work a stitch into each adjoining corner space 😊
Grancis grancis moho ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Let’s say, I’ve joined in all 6 squares but I have another 3 or however more squares I’ve made for a blanket. How would I continue adding in more squares ?
You'd need to know what you want the construction of the blanket to be. For example, how many squares wide you want it and how many squares tall. You would start by joining all the squares for one row and then continue to build from there.
For example, you want your blanket to be 5 squares wide and 7 squares tall. Start by joining 5 squares to make your first row, then continue to add squares row by row.
Hope that helps x
Since this is join-as-you-go where you're essentially adding in another round to the squares, does that mean you don't have to go through the blocking process before joining them?
It’s completely optional whether you want to block your squares or not; especially if you turn your squares over after each round as this will ensure they work up nice and straight anyway 😊
❤ lovely 😍 mashallah I just want this only ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤grancis moho
Would this work for a tote bag?
You could definitely use the join as you go method for a tote bag, but I’m not sure if you could use the continuous join as you go; you’d need to work out the order in which you were going to attach them first 😊
I'm stuck! I've made a few.things even made a blanket using this method in the past ..... I get to the 3rd row and habe extra I've ripped everything our 3 times! Do you have a video that works the 3rd row? I understand I shouldn't need it but I guess I do lol
Row three is just a repeat of row two; it can be confusing at first and definitely take some getting used to 😊 I find it helps to draw out a diagram of your squares with a line for the joining so it’s really clear.
Thank you! I started over and have my 1st square on row 3 and its all worked our so far idk what I did before but I think I got it now!
How would I do this with solid granny squares?
It’s a bit trickier with a solid granny, but you can follow the same method and then slip stitch into each stitch or every so many stitches along 😊
Can you explain how to crochet infinity scarf please 🧣
You can find the pattern on my blog at blog.bellacococrochet.com - blog.bellacococrochet.com/free-pattern-easy-infinity-scarf/ :)
@14:07 You said chain 3, but you only did a chain 1, because you slip stitched into the next square.
