I think the funniest parts of this are that these people usually can’t actually tell when someone is trans (like, commenting “you’ll never be a woman” on photos of trans men in drag and accusing cis people of being trans) AND the fact that being out of cows milk means most people are buying it. I’m a barista and everywhere I’ve ever worked has cows milk by default, so we run out of it faster. They’re clearly lying but goddamn, this imaginary place sounds sick as hell.

The “having to ask for cow’s milk” made me visibly angry. I’m allergic to milk and most of the places in my hometown don’t even offer nondairy milk. It’s such a lie. I love vegan food and stores, and trashing them for being more accessible for people with food allergies and other dietary restrictions feels like you hate people.
For real like I have celiac and when people make stupid jokes about being gluten free it’s like damn sorry my medical condition is inconvenient guess I’ll just have excruciating pain for the rest of my extremely life

when I was a female-perceived uber driver I generally did not get out of the car for my safety. And I drove a lot of women who exclaimed that they’d never be brave enough to do that job.
Did those woman live in a society that made people desperate enough to take that job?
This was one of my first thoughts. One of my cousins was a taxi driver _years_ ago and she had to quit for safety reasons.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought of this. It's bad enough to have a total stranger sitting behind you where, if they wanted to, they could attack you and there would be very little you could do about it. I'd be terrified of them stuffing me in the trunk, unaliving me, or taking me somewhere to do something horrible.
well I mention it because it might be a concern for some women but personally I never felt unsafe and I did find it annoying when passengers would insinuate that I was some kind of defenseless waif. I'm roughly man-shaped and always had a taser in the door, but the world isn't even that dangerous in reality, even in the big cities. I encourage anyone who wants to be a driver to do it. Don't be paranoid, just keep your wits about you. 100% of my passengers were just everyday people trying to get from A to B. The ones I picked up from jail were some of the most interesting.

I'd argue there are significant differences between certain cultural environments, "western" big cities are largely safe for many activities but me walking home alone at 2am or jogging by the stream aren't activities I'd entertain in every country/city/neighbourhood

My boyfriend's daughter and her wife live down there & the stuff that they have gone through is horrifying. They had to move to a city that is more liberal down there, (I forget where they moved) due to the fact that they were getting harassed at their own home. Which is just nuts, because they're both amazing people and so kind. His daughters wife, is actually a physician's assistant too& does so much good for the community.
His daughter is an artist, and she does a lot of lgbt-related artwork that she sells down there. Which is great, because it helps people down there feel less alone who may not be able to move.

My Mom has to have fat free or skim milk or it sets off skin related allergies. My grandmother was diabetic. So the options for them is great and I'm down for a total generalized order to prevent cross contamination. I don't mind having to clarify if I want the regular milk if it means everyone else can have something suitable for them without risking getting very sick just because some Karen feels attacked over being asked if she wants the alternative. 😀

This is wild. I was recently in Manhattan, Hell's Kitchen and Upper west side, I saw very few homeless people, every cafe had milk, no one looked androgynous. I literally went to a pop up modern art exhibit and people looked ... just ... regular binary? Like pants and t-shirts mostly. I even stopped by Stonewall to pay homage, and it was the most generic, normal, clean, white bread looking neighborhood in NYC.

Conservatives complaining about homelessness is ridiculous because it was Conservative president Reagan who ended the Federal Mental Health Act. This act provided state run hospital and residential homes for people with severe mental health problems. Many states also combined the residential sites with housing fir tge poor. These were called poor houses. People coukd stay there when they were homeless. By ending the Mental Health Act Reagan and the Con Republic party started the homeless problem in the US.
The problem is that Dems wanted to "defund the police", encourage mass migration and drug use. Now their cities look like third world countries. Is anyone surprised? The homeless should be sent to Martha's vineyard to live with Obama.

To respond to what that first woman was saying in comparing New York City to Florida, I live in Florida. And I work at a shelter, in a part of town that has multiple shelters and always has people also sleeping on the streets (well, on the sidewalks, anyway). The so-called "free state of Florida" is anything but if you are homeless, Black, brown, queer, trans, poor, female, an immigrant, or a student at any level of education in the state. She might think the grass is greener in Florida than NYC, but that's probably only because Florida is the sort of place that requires driving everywhere, so you are less likely to see or be stepping over homeless people unless you work or live in the areas where they mainly congregate.

I have been to new youth. I have also lived in Florida. I’m currently in a mid sized but highly progressive city. She is actually complaining that people aren’t all just basic and boring. When I lived in south Fl, it was awful because where I was, it was a major city where most people looked like wealthy people from small suburban areas. The only live music was Jimmy buffet style music, and all the restaurants were really expected chains that had super bland and expected options. There was little creativity, beyond artists being pressured to paint yachts and sailboats. Also, I am highly unattracted to macho men. Like, most the guys who rant and rave about being manly and how important masculinity is to them, don’t even shower or change their clothing every day. Then you get to their personality. I’ve also never had a Uber driver, regardless of gender, help me with luggage. I’ve never even thought about that because I’ve always carried my own luggage unless I had some sort of injury. I would probably be uncomfortable if they did something like that because, like, I don’t want a stranger to touch my stuff. It’s bad enough getting into a car with a stranger but sometimes both my vehicles have issues at the same time. For politicians, I would not sleep with any politician. Because I am not interested in any of them and don’t know them. She says this like this is normal. Women don’t usually vote conservative because most of us like having autonomy. Now, I find some celebrities attractive but again, I don’t know them so oI can’t say I would or wouldn’t sleep with them. I didn’t think adults were usually this shallow. As for freedom of speech, it only means you cannot be thrown in jail for it. Other people can still call you an asshole of what you say makes you an asshole. Your job can fire you for it if it’s bad enough that they think you look bad, and someone can absolutely have you arrested if you confuse free speech with making potentially credible threats.

It is advised that female uber drivers do not get out of the vehicle if at all possible. BECAUSE IT'S A DANGEROUS JOB! I used to take uber all the time and a lot of the women talked about how dangerous it is, some would even have a bf or husband sit in the front seat.
