Excellent video. What reel is that Steve? I’m looking at buying a sturdy reel for feeder fishing on the Severn. I’m a pleasure fisherman but like the one rod, match style approach👍
The rods a Free Spirit 13ft Hi S power feeder special. Reel is a Castizm. Shimano make excellent feeder reels in the Aero range, the Preston Extremity is excellent also. Only one rod is required at any time get the feeding and balance right and you'll catch way more than anyone trying to use two at a time.
Another great video cheers. One question.... How would you decide to fish these tactics over small fish tactics in a match? I doubt you would've got that weight with small fish tactics using a flat float etc Cheers
There aren't many small fish outside of towns or small tributaries on big rivers during winter these days. The swim in the video is quite remote, my hunch being big fish approach, I'd fish a match in a similar way on this stretch of river.
Hi Steve where do you get the big leads to modify your black caps from. They would be ideal for my fishing on the Thames. Living down south I have never seen any thing like those in our shops.
The feeder weights were available in tackle shops in Worcestershire. You will find the Anchor feeder weights will fit perfectly, try searching for dead cow feeder weights on ebay. I've had my collection of extra weights for a long time so may be difficult to locate, shops in the tidal trent catchment or Nottingham may also be able to help.
Nice fish😁👍
Nice fishing Steve i fish the same way on the Thames also I use your stick floats you can’t beat a good days river fishing 😻
Dont mind you not saying but cant picture where you are it's doing my head lol

Enjoyed video Steve do you fish 8lb line straight though to hook or use a leader 👍🏻
8lb reel line with a 0.20 to 0.24 hook length, the hook length is a rig line material like Preston Powerline
Steve is it a 3 piece rod or a 2 piece I’m thinking of buying one
It's a three piece rod Free Spirit Hi S 13ft special, you can get the 12ft model in two piece, both very good rods

@@SteveMaher-ft5xx Thanks Steve I’ve got to have a run up to Warwick to Bailey’s to try and sort out a pole section so I’ll have a look up there.
Also try Mal storey fishing tackle
