Steve Maher pays the Wye a short session before the arrival of storm Bert. Steve runs you through the basics of bolo fishing on the towncentre stretch during cold conditions.
nice one... thats a bitta mee that.... not got a bolo rod yet i only come back to fishing just after lockdown having been a keen match enthusiast in my early 20's...still approach it like its a match.. and have the urge still to compete if ya like ... love the long whip with flick tip, i have a soft 6m graphite pole thats fun to use..strangely the elastic fishing for carp in a puddle does absolutely nothing for me its soulless.... natural venues are the real challenge .... this river wye really is the wembley at the moment i hope it lasts
What diameter main line do you recommend ? There is a school of thought with Bolo fishing, that the mainline needs to be a tad heavier than what you would use with a stick or waggler approach. Think that the idea is that a heavier line is less likely to stick to the rod blank. Do you agree Steve ? Thanks
lovely jubley steve, thanks for sharing.
