Brilliant instructional video. Ground bait and feeders/method feeders are long forgotten in the carp scene but they can be as deadly as on the rivers. First class Mark. 🎣👍🏻
cheers darren, yeah they have kind of been forgotten in carping, i'm not sure why because they work incredibly well, i've never seen a groundbait provoke such a reaction as the dynamite marine halibut mix mate, the carp go equally bonkers for it as the barbel do, even the roach, dace, minnows and chublets will rip into it👍 as carpers we could do a lot worse than chucking a couple of feeders out on a boilie dominated water😉🎣
cheers andy, the tactics are straight out of the carp anglers playbook and they work for other species too, particularly barbel. Carp and barbel fishing can be quite close together at times, we've even got the term 'carbelling' these days and I recon that's pretty much what this is👍
cheers jon, the next one is in the planning stage mate, I reckon it'll be ready mid November-ish, in the meantime I've switched back to carp fishing, I've got around a month or so on my current water then i'll be down your way for a month so we'll have a catch up at the end of October or early November mate👍
it is a stunning piece of water I was on dom, it had the lot, shallows, deeper stretches, streamer weed in abundance and loads of barbel, it looks pretty good for every other species too and I saw quite a few pike mullering the dace and roach shoals that day, more than one kingfisher too which is unusual as they are normally quite territorial👍
cheers danny, yeah they have a lovely colour, that particular evening the weather was very changeable, one minute the light was good the next a dark cloud would change the light levels significantly, some look good and others look a bit washed out, overall I can't be displeased and I could have carried on and had a few more as they were definitely 'up for it' that day👍
Lovely video mark! Using your videos in preparation for the new season! Hoping to fish the dove and the severn. Only done half a season on the river dove, some nice chub but no barbel! On the PA ticket is there a particular severn stretch that you would recommend for a few bites, or it it much of the same wherever you go? Thanks
hey up spyro, they aren't all the same mate, some are more consistent than others, some have a higher average size but they might be a bit slower, for sheer number of bites i'd recommend cound👍
Hi Mark, thanks for another great video and for showing your tactics! Can i ask what wheight are the feeders you are using and what is the distance between your baited spot and the slow release feeder please? Thanks in advance, thight lines, greetz Dave
cheers dave, generally it's somewhere between one and two rod lengths, sometimes I cover the edge of the spot and sometimes i'll go a few rods away, one thing I would say, start in positions 2 or 3 and fish parallel to the bait, that way you give the fish chance to move up onto the bait. If it's slow and the bites don't come that's when I go for the tail and fish further downstream, it's a 'last hour' tactic to try and nick a bite and save a blank 😉
they aren't classed as a predator Andrew, I fish for them pretty much the same way as I fish for carp, ledgering with a lead weight or feeder with pellets or boilies as bait, they are great fish to catch, one of the hardest fighting fish we have👍
@@MarkCarp yh nice like i said before i usually only carp fish so dont have a clue about others really gonna start fishing for all kinds of fish though appreciate the help nice one mate
such a shame that joss, i guess they are governed by profit, they are/were really nice feeders, i've not needed to stock up on bits so i didn't know they'd been discontinued, looks like i'll be looking for a different block end feeder when i run out?. thanks for the heads up👍

i'll not name the stretch jamie but i will say it's downstream of shrewsbury👍
Whats happening mark are barbel a predator fish or do you fish for them the same as carp
they aren't classed as a predator Andrew, I fish for them pretty much the same way as I fish for carp, ledgering with a lead weight or feeder with pellets or boilies as bait, they are great fish to catch, one of the hardest fighting fish we have👍

Korum have stopped making those feeders now, they had a winning formula, now all they sell is a basic design that most companies make.
