Iron Maiden's Killers album which came out after the debut album is One of their Best all time (from beginning to ending tracks). The combo of Harris/Burr is top notch...RIP Paul Di'Anno & Clive Burr...Up the Irons !!!

Strange World is just such a gorgeous song, both in its lyrics and instrumentation. Paul's vocal, too, is just sensational.

Paul's vocal in that middle slow section of Charlotte The Harlot is so bluesy and heartfelt, he could be Paul Rodgers from Bad Company there. I always loved when they transition from the slow breakdown to that hard, aggressive guitar solo

Great reaction. A fave Iron Maiden song of mine. Very melodic and atmospheric. Great playing from the band and an ace vocal from Paul DiAnno.
Some great guitar playing from the unfairly maligned and forgotten Dennis Stratton on the debut album too.

Agreed. And also, in the right mood, it relaxes me enough to send me to sleep. I treasure music that can lull me to sleep.

A rare Iron Maiden ballad... it was a song recorded on their early 4-song demo ('Spaceward tapes') ... 'Charlotte the harlot' was credited to guitarist Dave Murray, but the lyrics were (likely) written by early Maiden vocalist Dennis Wilcock who left the band in 1977.
There were 2 sequels to the saga of Charlotte the harlot... '22 Acacia Avenue' (1982) and 'From here to eternity' (1992) 🤘🤘

Arguably "Hooks in you" from "No prayer for the dying" is also part of the saga, if you pay attention to the lyrics.

I never thought of it before, but it definitely could be about the life of a vampire. "Living here you'll never grow old", "plasma wine" etc. It coudl eb why "Transylvania" segues into the song, I always hear them together as one song almost.

I always found Strange World to be transcendental and moving as well.

Strange World was a nice surprise since I have no memory of ever hearing it before (although I must have heard it at least a couple of times since I've owned this album for over 30 years lol). It's so different from Maiden's usual sound and if I'd heard it blind there's no way I'd have guessed it was by Iron Maiden.

Strange World is a beautiful song and it is definitely one that will make you feel things. I've been an Iron Maiden fan for over 30 years now, and I dare say that Strange World is one of the most underrated songs (if not the most) in the band's history. To put it simply, its a masterpiece of musicianship and not overly complicated. Plus, if anyone ever doubted that Paul Di'Anno can sing... He squashes those thoughts completely here.
Thank you for a beautiful reaction, and seeing you get emotional over this just makes me happy! Keep up the great work, and as others have already mentioned... I look forward to seeing you continue Charlotte's story!

I was waiting for your reaction to Strange World and Charlotte the Harlot Sarah. Strange World, my favorite Iron Maiden ballad. To me Strange World is a fanciful dreamlike world he's living in as an escape.
Charlotte the Harlot, is pretty straightforward. There will be sequel songs to this one as you go forward.

Yeah, me too Sarah Rae, I was lucky to be on the ground floor with these guys, seeing them on their 2 tours with Paul Di'anno on lead vocals then another half dozen times with Bruce Dickinson blasting it out. They were great from the beginning and became Hall of Gamers once Adrian Smith on 2nd lead guitar and then Bruce came aboard. Strange World is a haunting tune, Paul does a great job and the guitar work is atmospheric and otherworldly. The first time I saw them in the Orpheum Theater they did an amazing version of it, with Dave Murray stretching out on chilling leads. I loved that first album and knew they would be big if the worked at it and boy did they ever, for me a top 5 heavy metal band of all time (Black Sabbath is forever #1 but the other 4 you can put in any order you like but here is mine: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Queensryche). Thanks for playing these, you can't go wrong with any of these bands, Blue Oyster Cult is thinking man's metal and could replace Queensryche. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

The Paul di'Anno years were definitely the rougher years. His voice matched better.

Hey Sara, I love this song.. Have you heard Ozzy Osbourne's Diary of a Madman Album? Particularly the songs You can't kill rock and Roll, SATO, Tonight, and the self titled Diary of a Madman songs? They give you that same "floating above a dark graveyard" out of body emotional feel, but such amazing songs. I stare at the album cover while listening to it, gives me the creeps!🤣 There is also Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan" which is another "floating in space", formidable but amazing music! All the best, Nick UK, XX

Yes I believe the song is about going to a better place away from this strange world. The line where he says being here you'll never grow old got me. I see your vampire comparison.

I think this is awesome, reacting to old school maiden songs, most people react to live maiden from 2000 and forward, wich is awesome, mainden is one of my all time bands, one of the first metal bands i started listen to. But seing a young woman reacting to these songs where u clearly hear that the base is the driving force and even melody in some parts. I have also seen u doing Sweet reactions and i see some similarities with maiden and sweet, int the part that sweet also build most songs from the base. But some of these old maiden songs are forgotten wich is a shame.

On Charlotte the Harlot, it is about a man in love with a S*x worker, there is a sequel called 22 Acacia Avenue on Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast.

And to those who thinks Paul was better singer compared to Bruce, obv u have all the right in the world to like what u want, i just disagree. The maiden from that time was different from the latter part from different singer but also to the music changing, Paul could never have managed singing a whole concert like Bruce does, he just didnt have the voice.
