hahaha.. yea, this not a song you would introduce someone to Iron Maiden unless they are already hard core. And even at that... chics don't usually dig it. But she liked it... you have a good woman there Rich.
I think he was pretty close onto it though, when he said that aside from the bass and drums, it sounded like a different band: By the time the most popular era of Iron Maiden's career was well under way with "Somewhere In Time" and "Seventh Son...", bassist Steve Harris and guitarist Dave Murray were the only original members left in the five-member band: vocalist Paul Di'Anno had parted ways for "health reasons" (apparently a lack of professionalism or a difference of opinion on his punk leanings, depending on story) to be replaced by Bruce, guitarist Dennis Stratton had left due to "musical differences" (apparently for arguing with Harris) to be replaced by Adrian Smith , and drummer Clive Burr had left after the first Dickenson album or two due to "personality conflicts" (apparently also for arguing with Harris) to be replaced by Nicko McBain. Di'Anno would go on to spend the next couple decades wandering through a variety of solo projects (including a couple short-lived reunions with Stratton as "The Original Iron Men" or "The Iron Men", but otherwise variously named Di'Anno, Paul Dianno, Paul Di'Anno's Battle Zone, Battle Zone, Gogmagog, Praying Mantis, Killers, Paul Di'Anno's Killers, and more) ranging from a light rock outfit, to some rather generic prog rock, to some pretty solid NWoBHM, to nu-metal, with Di'Anno's vocal style getting harsher over the years (almost becoming death metal growls by the 1990s or 2000s). Di'Anno seemed to take being kicked out of Iron Maiden kind of badly for a time: his solo projects were nowhere near as famous as his work in Iron Maiden, there were times he seemed to virtually subsist on covering Iron Maiden songs to keep in business, and Di'Anno would exchange barbs publicly with Bruce Dickenson and the other band members for years, maintaining that he'd been booted from the band for being too edgy at a time when Iron Maiden were getting softer, until the announcement that Dickenson had cancer, when Di'Anno publicly extended an olive branch and gave his best wishes to the rival vocalist. I've heard a lot of Di'Anno's post-Maiden work, and would say that none of it is quite as memorable or as inspired as his work in Iron Maiden (where I prefer him to Bruce Dickenson), but Di'Anno has consistently been an entertaining vocalist, and some of his solo work - especially with Battle Zone, Killers, and his later work as Paul Di'Anno - wasn't half-bad, even if it wasn't mandatory listening.
@@pietrayday9915 What is your take on the Blaze Bayley years? I personally liked some of the songs they did on those 2 albums especially Sign of the Cross from X-Factor.
@Welcome To Hell And alcoholism - it made it difficult for Iron Maiden to rehearse and do shows around his bad days. I would say that Steve Harris and the other guys were trying to be gentle with the euphemisms "health reasons" and "lack of professionalism". Di'Anno, unsurprisingly, has a different version of the story, in which he was 'too punk" or "too raw" for Iron Maiden's increasingly progressive (and literally professional, as a dedicated full-time working band) direction. Di'Anno seems to have gotten more and more unstable and erratic through the 1980s, and had trouble in later years with trying to book shows in the USA and elsewhere due to (IIRC) some sort of weapons and/or assault charges of some sort, and it's safe to say he would have been a millstone around the band's neck and an obstacle to their success over the long haul if he'd stayed in the band. I assume Di'Anno has been getting a better handle on his personal problems as he's gotten older, but the alcoholism and drugs definitely took their toll on his health over the years, too: there's a big difference between the sort of shape that the rest of Iron Maiden are in, and the condition that Di'Anno is in these days. Last I heard though, he could still do those old Iron Maiden songs justice in live shows!

This was from Iron Maidens first Album 'Iron Maiden' with their original singer Paul Dii'Anno, who sang on Maidens first two albums, 'Iron Maiden' and 'Killers'
Love early Maiden with Paul Dianno! Back then Iron Maiden had a raw, almost punk sound. You should check out more from that era. Give Phantom of the Opera (live at the Rainbow), Killers, Drifter or Running Free, a listen. Hell, anything from the first two albums is gold!
This was Iron Maiden's first album, with Paul Di'Anno on vocals, Dennis Straton on 2nd guitar, and Clive Burr on drums. The 2nd album saw Straton being replaced by Adrian Smith. Bruce Dickinson didn't come into the fold until their 3rd album, The Number Of The Beast. This is where their sound as most know it today begins to take shape.
Thus is 1980 , the singer was Paul Dianno the original Iron Maiden singer "Killers" is the next album then "Number of the Beast" when Bruce Dickinson joined.
Debut album. The singer here, Paul D'ianno was just before Bruce Dickinson.. Paul sang on the self titled debut album and the album "Killers".. Bruce rejoined Maiden at that point for the albums "Brave New World", "Dance of Death", "A Matter of Life and Death", "The Final Frontier" , and their most recent album "Book of Souls." Of all of the albums and styles Maiden has gone through, the best are generally (In my opinion) prior to Bruce leaving Maiden.. with the exception of the first two after he rejoined. Everything after that, to me, has been hit-and-miss through it may just be I have not listened to the newer stuff enough to get into the vibe as much. The song "Hooks In You" is the next in the Charlotte the Harlot trilogy.. which I believe is on the album "No Prayer for the Dying" ... but don't quote me on that lol. Peace

First 2 albums very punkish and raw. By caught somewhere in time started with synths and to the sound they have today. Rich you are right. You can here that core maiden sound underneath the raw punk style present. I personally love Listening to early maiden . The more you listen to it . The more you get hooked. Sorry for how long this is but I'm passionate about maiden. #ironmaiden Phantom of the Opera fernie British Columbia canada. . Next Paul joint you need to do. Epic. Much love and respect guys. First, sorry for nitpicking :-) You have written it a bit vaguely I think: Adrian joined for Killers (1981), Bruce for Number of the Beast (1982), Nicko for Piece of Mind (1983), Janick can be heard first on No Prayer for the dying (1990) and then we have Blaze. I think in 1999 Bruce and Adrian returned and since then we have 6-piece band.
@@talaniel you are right. I just wrote it simplistically. That is the proper time line. That's cool it's not nitpicking. You are obviously a tru fan and I love discussing the band . So all good. Thnks UP THE IRONS !@.
#first album - Di Anno, Harris, Murray, Stratton and Burr, 22 Acacia Avenue is the follow up song about Charlotte but she is also mentioned in Twilight Zone and From Here To Eternity, Hooks In You is also loosely linked too
9:49 If you want to know the resolution of the story you need to listen the remaining two songs from the Charlotte trilogy: "22 Acacia Avenue" and "From Here to Eternity".
Ok the Charlotte the Saga start with this song then 22 Acacia ave, Hooks in you and From here to eternity. In this order. Iron Maiden a cover band that's what you said?? Well this is an original song from the 1980's with Paul Dianno singing. And it has a raw sound from that era, the whole album is awesome a must have. #IronMaiden Transilvania.
haha, I saw the surprise on your faces...you were expecting Bruce to sing. This was Maidens first lead singer, Paul D'ianno from '77 to '81. He has an awesome voice but IMO more of a punk voice. Check out some more live stuff from Iron Maiden.
This is the first of the Charlotte the Harlet saga. The 2nd being 22 Acacia Ave. The 3rd is Hooks in You. Some may say there's a 4th in the tale of Charlotte called From Here to Eternity which never mentions Charlotte but does say something like "keys to a view at number 22" hinting at 22 Acacia Ave. but that is a serious debate amongst the Iron Maiden faithful. Love the react. ✌ *edit* I stand corrected. Please see replys for my error. Up the Irons!!
There is no real debate since Iron Maiden did confirm that it was the end of Charlotte's Saga. :) The 2 best songs in the saga are 22 Acacia Avenue and from here to Eternity.
@@Trygvar13 Oh I know. But there are still those out there that still debate it. To me, it was a fitting end to the saga. I love listening to some fans argue about it. Even when presented with the evidence of Iron Maiden stating that fact. And I agree with you on your song choices and in that order. Up the Irons my friend!!! ✌
'I got the keys to view at number twenty-two' is actually in Hooks In You, and Charlotte is mentioned by name in From Here To Eternity. So you got those two mixed up.
My bad. I stand corrected. You two are right. Thanks for the correction. Glad you caught that for me. I'll leave my comment as stands and not edit it to show that we all can make mistakes. Thank you. Up the Irons my friends!! ✌
I absolutely worship the first two Maiden albums. This song is not the best pick from their early days. I recommend the following songs to really appreciate the awesomeness of their first two albums: 1) Transylvania + Strange World (these two songs need to be heard together) 2) Remember Tomorrow 3) Phantom of the Opera 4) The Ides of March + Wrathchild (these two songs need to be heard together) 5) Genghis Khan 6) Innocent Exile 7) Killers 8) Prodigal Son
#IronMaiden Hooks In You "Hooks In You" is the 3:rd song about Charlotte The Harlot, the 2:nd song is "22 Acacia Avenue". Btw "Hooks In You" is my favorite of them! :) Keep up your good jobb!
You have to listen to #ironmaiden 22 Acacia Avenue from the Number of the Beast album. It is a follow up to Charlotte the Harlot but with Bruce Dickinson and SO much better. Really rocks and great ending guitar solo.
Gran canción , gran vocalista y gran álbum de comienzo lleno de poder (los coros nunca fueron su fuerte) , la banda explotó con Bruce es evidente , os dejo una recomendación : chilhoods end del álbum fear of the dark , still Life del piece of mind . Gran video enhorabuena.

Rich, I knew the address was sounded familiar. I grew up with a TV series called Bannaman. 22 Acacia Road was address where the character lived. Though it was a spoof of the super heroes at the time. So I'd say you were forgiven. If I remembered half the lyrics and titles correctly I too would be correcting my mistakes.
Well hello today ill subscribe!! Iron maiden has a very complicated history of turning over band members, even when talented. Bruce was actually the third singer in the band that recorded anything with them. This was Paul d'ano who sang brilliantly on the first two albums, but was considered to punk rock for them so Steve Harris went in a different direction. There is another fellow who recorded their demos just before Paul joined. I forget his name but its easy to find on RUclips. He was also good! Thx ## Pete
This is a very strange but unique sound of Iron Maiden back in the old days with their old singer Paul. This is the "punk" area of Maiden you can say, it's very different from their usual sound today but still a very cool song haha
hey guys great song thanks for doing so much Maiden so awesome greatest band ever keep them coming they haven't tried the prowler yet check that one out
This is indeed Iron Maiden off of their first album, Iron Maiden. This features the original singer Paul Di'Anno. Funny how you should say that the drums sounded the same because it was a different drummer as well. While Paul is, as many would say, not as technically adept as Bruce, I think that Iron Maiden had some AMAZING songs on their first 2 albums (the ones with Paul). Another suggestion for this album is #IronMaiden Strange World, though it's probably not as popular of a song, I like it.
I don't get that " more technical ". Paul is more raw and get heavier and heavier, but with maiden and after maiden he could handle the melodic stuff. His range increased , he could do AOR to Hardcore metal with growling while hitting the higher notes in his solo outfit , Battlezone and killers , that one to another extreme Bruce can't do .
Paul Di’Anno year’s. Very cool , this was the first Iron Maiden album I owned. Even though Paul couldn’t hit those high notes like Bruce could Paul is still a great vocalist. I recommend another track from the Paul Di’Anno years #IronMaiden killers.
At the contrary he hit them with a better texture due to his full , baritone type . But considering the huge jump of styles between Dianno, Battlezone and Killers , Paul increased his range while getting heavier and heavier after maiden . Bruce can't do that . He had a Raspy Ian gillan register he doesn't use for decades and only an stereotypical operatic clean style . So " hit the notes " or... More technical that what Dianno did in what ive said , i doubt it. Again Bruce 2 registers , Paul like halford can go blues to Death metal vocals . Thousands voices
This is the first of a series of Iron Maiden songs concerning a sophisticated prostitute. Others include "22 Acacia Avenue" and "From Here To Eternity." Maiden fans refer to these songs as "the Charlotte saga." Paul Di'Anno was their first Singer before Bruce Dickinson.
And don't forget about the other references to Jack the ripper in multiple iron maiden songs... And they cover Judas Priest The ripper as well. A harlot needs a ripper or vice versa
22. Acacaia Avenue is an extension of Charlote the Harlot. She's living in London's East End. She's real person. That's Dave's song, written before 40 years, he knew her 😉 These two songs are written in the style of Rocket Queen of Guns and Roses 😀 Maybe it's better now to go to album Powerslave, and songs like Powerslave, Two minutes to midnight or Flash of the blade, etc. and save magic of the album Somewhere in time for a next trip ?
Hey guys, Maiden has many songs worthy of listening, this one is from the early days, again great song with an amazing twist right after the first chorus.. but how about picking Prodigal Son next time or Revelations, etc etc.
#Motorhead - LET IT ROCK (Live Chuck Berry Cover - David Letterman 1991) - An obscure one but worth a watch. Letterman straight up insults the band and gets the album title wrong before they start playing, then Lemmy comes out like a boss and lays waste to the crowd. Almost worth watching for Paul Shaffer's piano solo alone - Ft Lauderdale
Five finger death punch has a song the fits everyone it called cold, Ivan the lead vocalist sings about something he did and he can’t at all seem to redeem himself. So he realizes he has to stop fighting it and just face it head on it rather indifferent cruelty, is pushing him down and destroying him
G'day guys you should really checkout Steel Panther. They're a band that parodies hair metal but are genuinely talented musicians. #steelpanther death to all but metal also #steelpanther the burden of being wonderful #steelpanther glory hole. Love you guys. Stay beautiful.
It is so apparent that while different in some ways (Paul Di'Anno for one thing, obviously) very much of Maidens "gestalt" is already here, in their very first album release. They say so too, actually. I think Steve Harris, while possibly a terrific street-sweeper, did the right thing pursuing music instead ;-)
First Maiden album is great, but different! I love Di'Annos vocals, although Bruce is their trademark. But if their first album wouldn´t have been that good the road wouldn´t have peen paved for so much more. Try #painintheask Running Free with Di'Anno on vocals.

I have a soft spot for the first 2 Maiden albums, but I prefer Killers of the 2. Musically, and lyrically, it's more developed than Iron Maiden (1). With the addition of Bruce, the band lost some of their raw edginess, but gained in clarity. For this era of Iron Maiden, I would suggest "Wraithchild" "Innocent Exile", or "Killers" Ok , one more time #Riverside Escalator Shrine

Maiden has evolved with every album through the years . First 2 albums very punkish and raw. By caught somewhere in time started with synths and to the sound they have today. Rich you are right. You can here that core maiden sound underneath the raw punk style present. I personally love
Listening to early maiden . The more you listen to it . The more you get hooked.
Sorry for how long this is but I'm passionate about maiden.
#ironmaiden Phantom of the Opera fernie British Columbia canada. .
Next Paul joint you need to do. Epic.
Much love and respect guys. Cheers.
Thnks
UP THE IRONS !@.
@@chrisbudberg8769 Not one mention of Clive Burr mate? RIP Clive
@@maxrav1831 thanks man. Good point. 👍
@@chrisbudberg8769 no worries buddy.
#first album - Di Anno, Harris, Murray, Stratton and Burr, 22 Acacia Avenue is the follow up song about Charlotte but she is also mentioned in Twilight Zone and From Here To Eternity, Hooks In You is also loosely linked too
I love this channel, constantly pumping out entertaining videos. #Testament Over The Wall
This would have made more sense had your '22 Acacia Ave' video been a lyric vid. Then you would have said..."Oh...I get it now".
Try "strange world" and "prodigal son" awesome solos !! Paul Di anno's era was great too !!
Earlier iteration of the band with the original singer. That was actually their first album. Dickenson didn't come along until later.
*edit* I stand corrected.
From Here To Eternity - ".... the beast & Charlotte they were 2 of a kind..."
This the first of 4 songs about Charlot. (Or just mention her) The second was 22 Acacia Avenue. Hooks in you is next. Then from here to Eternity.
Also The Number of the Beast relates to From Here to Eternity as well.
@@MaiiOrduna They both talk about the beast. That's all. No connection really.
Friend kel... This vocal is Paul diano... Bruce sing in 1982 in the number of the beast
That was actually the first recorded singer Paul Di'anno. He was before Bruce Dickinson. This was one of the first songs Steve Harris wrote.
This was the previous singer Paul Di'anno. He recorded the band's first 2 albums (This track was from their 1st album).
This is from their first album, with their first singer, before he was kicked out and they auditioned Bruce.
Paul's voice was awesome! : - )
I absolutely worship the first two Maiden albums.
This song is not the best pick from their early days.
I recommend the following songs to really appreciate the awesomeness of their first two albums:
1) Transylvania + Strange World (these two songs need to be heard together)
2) Remember Tomorrow
3) Phantom of the Opera
4) The Ides of March + Wrathchild (these two songs need to be heard together)
5) Genghis Khan
6) Innocent Exile
7) Killers
8) Prodigal Son
One of my favorite Maiden songs...
#IronMaiden Hooks In You
"Hooks In You" is the 3:rd song about Charlotte The Harlot, the 2:nd song is "22 Acacia Avenue". Btw "Hooks In You" is my favorite of them! :)
Keep up your good jobb!
#ironmaiden stranger in a strange land Texas a must listen!!! U will love those guitars. You guys are the best 👍👍👍
I loved to session on my skater in the driveway to this album.
You have to listen to #ironmaiden 22 Acacia Avenue from the Number of the Beast album. It is a follow up to Charlotte the Harlot but with Bruce Dickinson and SO much better. Really rocks and great ending guitar solo.
For everybody loving early Maiden, check out this gig from '81 - pure gold!

Gran canción , gran vocalista y gran álbum de comienzo lleno de poder (los coros nunca fueron su fuerte) , la banda explotó con Bruce es evidente , os dejo una recomendación : chilhoods end del álbum fear of the dark , still Life del piece of mind . Gran video enhorabuena.
Iron Maiden with their original singer is a different prospect. Glad you liked it.

That was ol Paul. The 1st singer of Maiden. Bruce joined lil later.
Their first album with first singer made in the late 70's
Rich, I knew the address was sounded familiar. I grew up with a TV series called Bannaman. 22 Acacia Road was address where the character lived. Though it was a spoof of the super heroes at the time. So I'd say you were forgiven. If I remembered half the lyrics and titles correctly I too would be correcting my mistakes.
Rich, "Oh, it's a love song" LOL!
Punk? I don't agree.
This is pre Bruce Dickinson. Paul Dianno. Would be from maidens first album. 1980.
hey guys great song thanks for doing so much Maiden so awesome greatest band ever keep them coming they haven't tried the prowler yet check that one out
Don't know whether you know or not, but 22 Acacia Avenue is aka The Continuing Saga of Charlotte the Harlot
What a love song 😉❤
Every band has gotta start somewhere

22. Acacaia Avenue is an extension of Charlote the Harlot.
She's living in London's East End.
She's real person.
That's Dave's song, written before 40 years, he knew her 😉
These two songs are written in the style of Rocket Queen of Guns and Roses 😀
Maybe it's better now to go to album Powerslave, and songs like Powerslave, Two minutes to midnight or Flash of the blade, etc.
and save magic of the album Somewhere in time for a next trip ?
Hey guys, Maiden has many songs worthy of listening, this one is from the early days, again great song with an amazing twist right after the first chorus.. but how about picking Prodigal Son next time or Revelations, etc etc.
Oh and this was Paul Di'Anno, the singet on the first two albums
Man welcome to London

It's time for Xentrix. An awesome Scottish metal band,
Check out "For Whose Advantage?".
Love that song! Very underrated band. They're a lot more than just a poor man's version of Metallica (often said).
New album out shortly with my buddy Jay Walsh handling vocals and second guitar duties 🤘
That’s interesting. Thanks for the information!
@@ANationalAcrobat no worries, from the bits I've heard it's gonna be awesome 🤘
@Jim Harris What I just read, the album is more towards their first albums. Sounds great to me.
Say hello to guys 😀
It is so apparent that while different in some ways (Paul Di'Anno for one thing, obviously) very much of Maidens "gestalt" is already here, in their very first album release. They say so too, actually. I think Steve Harris, while possibly a terrific street-sweeper, did the right thing pursuing music instead ;-)
ah ah ah… j'adore votre réaction.! M D R

For this era of Iron Maiden, I would suggest "Wraithchild" "Innocent Exile", or "Killers"
Ok , one more time #Riverside Escalator Shrine
That first Iron Maiden album had a weird sound, like a punk rock vibe and production but Killers sounded more metal production
This is the singer before Dickinson. Paul dianno
