Let’s be honest, the British top 10 could easily be world top 10 particularly for the rock genre. Nearly everyone would put Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Black Sabbath (Metal) etc
I also have the exact same experience with my dad and Queen, my mum go out on a Saturday (my brother was at out grandparents) and I would sit on him we’d listen to Greatest Hits 1&2 he also introduced me to ABBA. It’s 11 1/2 years since he does and I miss him every second of every day. I unfortunately lost both my parents in my early 20s (dad literally a week before my 25th birthday). I know how you feel and would like offer a virtual hug.
Sorry for your loss. My dad died in 2020 in a fell walking accident in the Lake District ( UK) he loved for over 50 years. The cruelty of a life taken in such a way is beyond belief. To think he had a picture of the area in the lounge for years all the while not knowing that he would die doing something he loved and always returned home from until the last fateful occasion one sunny day in June 2020 once Covid restrictions on travel allowed him to go. I like a lot of Queen and Abba was the first band I ever got into in the mid 1970s.
Nothing wrong with a good cry. I shed a tear watching you and I'm a 61 year old man. Fortunately my dad is still here. I have watched all your videos and felt for you at your fathers passing but also happy that you were with him at the end. Thank you for being you.
I emphasise with you. I’m 66 and an ex rugby prop and we are supposed to be tough, but seeing you crying reminded me of losing my father. I was 32 and my first daughter was born 9 days before he died. Still, 34 years later, I still cry and grieve for my father, the big strong special service soldier. It never gets easier. Fab videos.
My Dad was serving in the Falklands war when I was born. Brothers In Arms reminds him about his mates that he lost and when he hears it he always looks up to the sky and says this is for you mate. For me, it's a reminder that I could never even known my Dad. My godfather is one of those that never came back.

I just LOVED the end of the video. Thank you for being that honest. And so brave! I lost my mum many years ago and no, that wound will never heal, you just learn to live with it. But it's nice something to connect with that person. I send you a hug.
I wasn't expecting to cry with you today (but it was extremely therapeutic, I've had a head full of stress all day). I guess when you're nine albums in, it would have been impossible to fully edit that out, but I'm glad you didn't try. And I'm sorry for your loss, it's been a rough few years (7 years really) here for my family so I can sympathise, although I can't imagine doing it so far from 'home'. I'm really proud that you chose the UK and although it maybe hasn't always been perfect, I hope we've shown you kindness when you needed it most. We're lucky to have you here.
This list is acutally the ten British albums which have sold the most copies in Britain, counting down from number ten, 'Adele 25' to number one, 'Queen's Greatest Hits I'
That makes a lot of sense. Popular is not always best. I have no particular gripe with any of the albums on this list, I just think that there are often better examples of these groups talents. For instance, IMHO, "Love Over Gold" is a much better Dire Straits album. Also, being a teen in the 70s, had I been compiling a list, I would have included "Crime Of The Century" by Supertramp and "Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield and what about "Songs From The Big Chair" by Tears For Fears.
I think you cried because even though he is gone... he was with you again in the moment. This is what makes music so powerful. It says the things we don't know how to say. It brings us back to a person or a moment no matter how far away it may seem in time or space. What else has that kind of power.
I can't listen to dire straits brothers in arms without crying, it was played at my uncle's funeral he served in the British army for many years. Hits different x
Have you watched "Queen at live aid" it's rated as the greatest live performance ever, Freddie Mercury once AGAIN had the crowd in the palm of his hand.
I am REALLY impressed with your observations and insight while reviewing these albums, Alanna. This video was so enjoyable, rivaling so many of your more humorous "cooking" videos. Thank you for sharing! Love your content.
Thank you for being so open about your loss. I lost my father last year and it's difficult to deal with such a loss. Music, although it can be confrontational, does help. He loved music, all sorts and he passed that love on to me. We both, actually the whole family saw Pink Floyd on their last tour where they played the Dark Side album in its entirety. Great memories. The Dark Side of the Moon is certainly one of my absolute favourites. Feel free to make a whole seperate video about it. 😁
What a fantastic video. I've never watched you before but just subscribed. My dad passed away in 2020 from cancer. I was 43 at the time so in a kind of birth/life/death realist mindset about it. He spent his final 2 weeks in our house being nursed by my amazing wife, who for some time he struggled to accept, and to be honest was flat out disrespectful to. Over time he saw what I had seen from the beginning in the "foreign girl" who is 10 years younger than me (he had a very old-school upbringing in the English midlands). We've been together 14 years now and have 2 beautiful children. My dad was an amazing, funny, and ultimately selfless family man. The thing that brings me to tears now is the memory of those final 2 weeks, and of the mutual respect being silently communicated between my wife and my dad. I see a man once so terrified of losing his dignity now almost embracing the humiliation of being cared for as a means to live that little bit longer around those he loves. I see our whole family pulling together around him and holding back the grief so that the final sounds he heard were our usual banter and laughter. Most of all I see my wife (who is not a professional carer) giving my father the most peaceful, respectful, and ultimately forgiving ending he could possibly have wished for. I love that woman! My dad brought me up on Dire Straights. I totally get that BIA can be a struggle, but I would emplore you to watch their Alchemy Live performance of Telegraph Road. It's one of the most amazing live performances of all time imo. Once again, great video ❤ 17:2417:2417:24
Holding back my tears as I'm not ready to mourn my dads death last year. This was my favourite video of yours, and I've seen many. You're a great person Alana. Music is a healer and touches us beyond the physical. Thanks again
I just want to say, I've been watching your vids for a long time, this one got me, my dad past away on my 14th birthday and yes he did play a lot of music' specially old time reggae, I have a special dad playlist on Spotify to which I still play to this very day... big love to ya ♥️
I don’t often comment on videos but this was your best one imo. Your dad had great taste in music. I bought Queens Greatest Hits for my own daughter on vinyl 2 Christmas’s ago when she was 14. She loves Queen. Their music is timeless and as you say crosses generations. Brilliant video.
Losing a parent never really heals, it just becomes part of who you are. I mark my parents birthdays, each year, by either listening to some of their favourite music or watching one of their favourite movies.
I'm lucky enough to still have my Mum, but I love the idea of listening to some of my Dad's favourite music on his birthday. Will pinch your idea - thanks! 😎👍
Say what you want about Brits, but we know how to do bands! It’s actually absurd how many big bands, of each era and decade, are British when you look into it
I feel like the best bands don't get enough exposure anymore though. Like, Ed Sheeran and Adelle and all that are talented, but their music is nothing that special or unique. The times where the likes of the Beatles and Pink Floyd get all the plaudits are long gone. The best bands of the day just aren't considered 'profitable' enough sadly
Really great selection and a very interesting video idea. Cool to hear your reflections, thanks! Need to add this having just watched the end, what a touching moment. Thank you so much for sharing 💜😊
I remember as a 33 year old bawling my eyes out down the phone to my mum when Freddie died. She died herself 7 months later, broke my heart. Love you mum xx
Sorry for your loss. I remember Freddie Mercury's death in 1991 very well. It was expected since the announcement a few days earlier that he was very ill and I heard it on the radio at my late dad's house. My poor dad died in 2020 in a fell walking accident after recovering from prostate cancer. It was the first time he could go for a walk since his treatment and the Covid rules had changed to allow travel. If not for Covid he would not have gone on that day and been in the place where he fell to his death. The inquest was inconclusive as to whether a slip caused his death or a heart attack caused him to fall. It transpired someone else had died in the exact same spot two years earlier by slipping. My dad walked for over 50 years without incident and then one day he just did not come home. Words fail that a life could be lost so cruelly.
Bless you Alana. This was such a moving video, and it meant a lot to watch your musical journey. Thank you for shining a window to your tastes and story. Music is the best thing there is!!
Your videos and musings always inspire me and your honesty and humour bring joy to us all. Your father looks over you always, take comfort in that and thanks for all your wonderful videos
What a great honest video Alanna. I was afraid all the albums were going to be current so very happy to see the Beatles, Queen, Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac
I've just started watching and seeing Adele and Amy Winehouse as the first choices, I was thinking the same. Nice to know there's some good stuff coming up.
Time is, in my opinion, the greatest lyrics in history. Means so much to me and is probably the only song I can truly say impacted my life. "And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around, to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."
Alanna, my heart goes out to you. I also lost my dad when I was in my 20s, and it's the toughest thing I've ever had to deal with, no question. Totally with you on how much music has an emotional resonance to people/places/events, too. Take care.
I could probably happily listen to this entire list. Quite a few memories are triggered by so many of the songs. Thank you so much for this list, Alanna! 🥰
I'm an old grizzled bloke but the Queen stuff hits hard, took me back to memories of my Mam, I never thought I'd shed a tear watching Alana but here we are.
The Stones 1st being a fundamental blues influence for all modern rock and at least 5 of their albums should be in the Top 10. You have to concentrate on the rhythm section of bass, drums and piano. Don`t forget, they brought Chicago Blues to the US & The World. There are 3 neglected works of genius you should check out: Family Entertainment by Family, Astral Weeks by Van Morrison + Liege & Lief by Fairport Convention. All Magical. If you want great female rockers try Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders & Annie Lennox on The Tourists`, Reality Effect.
Oh Alanna, so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. It’s lovely though to have great music to remember him by. How many wonderful memories does that conjure up? The same thing happens to me when I hear certain songs that remind me of my mum. Keep up the good work. Your dad is very proud of you and what you’ve achieved in your life. God bless. 🤗
Wonderful video Alanna. This just shows the incredible power that music has in being able to reach us on such a deep and emotional level. I must warn you! - the older you get, the more music hits you in the feels. I’m a 61 year old 🇨🇦 and am not ashamed to say that I can no longer listen to songs like Vincent (Don McLean) or Fire and Rain (James Taylor) + many others without the tears coming. I don’t consider this a bad thing at all. Just music as an art form doing what art does best - reaching the soul. Love your channel. Bless.
Love your posts - but only just saw this one. My Dad died when I was 21 and now I'm 57 and I still cry when I hear his songs. Please know that feeling never ever ever goes away.
Music is so powerful and really touches us at a deep level. I lost my brother a few years ago and have only just begun to be able to listen to Led Zeppelin without sobbing. My father used to sing and we often sang together - some pieces I'll never manage again. Remember the joy.
Years after my dad passed, I was grocery shopping & his favorite Stevie Nick's song started playing. I had a full on meltdown right there in the aisle. You are doing your dad proud!
That was very special, Alanna....it's lovely to know your thoughts on music (and I agree about Adelle) and that was even before we reached the number one album and you shared with us the special meaning it has for you in your memories of your Dad....you had me shedding tears with you, bless your heart. From now on, when I think of Queen, I will have - mixed in with the layers of all my existing connections - the thought of you walking in a bright winter park, wearing headphones and crying happy sad tears about the music and how much your Dad had loved it 💜 x
This is exactly what the best music does it connects us humans and triggers memory and emotion. My Mom was a teenager during WW2 so she listened to big band and Frank Sinatra but her sons listened to The Beatles and the rest of the British invasion and she also loved the Beatles. Time and place definitely influences our best of list so i don't agree with everything on the top ten but who cares its all great music
Crying with you! The effect that music has on us is so visceral, and when music connects us to others, especially those who are no longer with us, it can become sweetly poignant. Your response to Queen reminds me of a recent incident at physical therapy when John Denver's "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" came over the speakers. My dad died just over a year ago, and he loved that song and used to clap along with it while stomping one foot. As I heard the opening bars, the tears began to flow. We had set his montage to a different country song from the '70s, Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy," as that song and "Country Boy" were playing constantly on different radio stations (this was 1975) as we tent-camped our way from San Diego to Yellowstone and back. Every time each song came on the radio (usually several times a day), all five of us sang at the tops of our lungs ... and we are NOT good singers, LOL! I'm generally not a fan of country music; in fact, I despise it ... with the exception of John Denver (who was more folk than outright country) and Eddie Rabbitt (from the '80s) as my parents loved to line-dance in the living room to "I Love a Rainy Night" and "Drivin' My Life Away." My parents had an extraordinary 57-year marriage and were still in love with each other when my dad died. The power of music to transport us to the past is extraordinary. Sending you (((hugs))) from stormy San Diego!!
the Beatles are truly timeless. in my opinion there never has been and never will be a more influential artist(s) in music, all achieved in just 7 years. Lennon-McCartney possibly the best song writing duo to live
Oh Alana, bless you. I didn’t see that twist coming at the end and has left me in tears too. You’re a beautiful person and that video was one of your best. So insightful and such thoughtful, considered critique of each of the albums. Well done 👏. The only thing I’m asking is ‘where is Hounds of Love by Kate Bush!’ 😮
Hi Alanna, I'm sure I'm not your only viewer that wanted to give you a comforting hug when you were talking about your dad & getting emotional, Music is a great healer, Inspirational & solace in times of need, So glad you appreciate Pink Floyd & The Beatles, 2 bands that operate on a higher level to most others, 'Time' the Floyd track you quoted is one of my favourites and it really does get more profound as the years go by in fact I love the song so much my sister had the lyrics printed in old english font & framed for my last birthday, Please give Dire Straits another go especially their earlier output 1st album 'Dire Straits', 'Communique', 'Making Movies', 'Love over Gold' they're an amazing band & Mark Knopfler a legend, Anyway Best Wishes Jim, Surrey X
You have great taste in music! I have similar emotional reactions when listening to ABBA. My mother always played their music at home when she did the housework. She used to dance and sing along to the songs. She was always so happy and joyus when it was on. She is still alive, but she is getting older and is not in the best health anymore. When I hear dancing queen I can vividly see her as a young bubbly lady in the house who is dancing and singing along. My dad is at work and me and my brother are playing with our toys on the floor. I almost always well up and cry when I hear that song! I love my mother
Completely with you on the crying part. Lost my dad back in June and in the months since, I've lost count of how many times something that reminded me of him has brought me to tears. Especially music, I've made myself fight back the tears on a few occasions walking home from work when I've had my music on. Music is so powerful isn't it, the way it can manifest emotions in you that you sometimes didn't even know that were there.
Bless your heart, I know exactly how you feel about listening to your dad's music. I lost my mum almost exactly a year ago, and I can't listen to her music yet. She absolutely loved the Carpenters, and if any of their songs happen to come on the radio, I have to turn it off. Maybe one day I'll be able to listen to those songs she loved so much, but not yet. Music is just so powerful.
I lost my Mum ten years ago and I relish the tears that come now when I listen to particular music. It means she is still here in spirit and I don’t ever want that to end. So I say cry away.
Oh what a brill video Allana, and thanks for being you and sharing it all - it helps others too. Its good to cry, why not? It shows how much you loved your dad and what a star he was for you and yours. Bless you all 💙
I played "The Great Gig in the Sky" for a relative who would never listen to the Floyd otherwise...and she loved it! Some music is just too perfect to deny. Thank you for this list...
Hi Alanna one of your oldies here, thanks for this episode, one of your best in my opinion well done you! been following youi for a while but as a music lover since the sixties loved a lot of these 1st time around. Only surprise was Dire Straits, but hey cant win em all! Not an Adele fan but Queen/Fleetwood Mac/ Floyd/excellent, and Beatles I was 16 when Sgt Peppers came out just WOW! So sad hearing about your dad, real tear jerking but great memories, lost both parents decades ago but it never fades, in fact today is my mums birthday! Good luck to you, Keep up the good work!
I lost my dad in my late 20s.When I hear music he used to love, I hear him singing or see him dancing (real dad dancing) to his favourites. For me it's a joyful experience to remember him that way. I hope for you that the Queen album becomes a joyful memory, one to make you smile when you remember your dad. For many, music connects to a happy time/place/event. Remember those and the hole in your life where your father used to be is filled with him once again. ❤🩹
This is my first video of yours I’ve seen and what a lovely story about queen and your dad. Music can do that to you like nothing else can in terms of striking a memory and immediately you flood back to a period of your life and the emotion just hits you. Something came up on Spotify that I had heard a million times as a kid when my parents were together, but I hadn’t heard for 20 years, and I wouldn’t have ever thought to search for it, and it’s not my usual bag, but it was the Carpenters, Yesterday Once More. And I immediately just bawled my little eyes out remembering as a 28 year old what it had been like being 7 years old and not having a care in the world 😭plus the song subject itself seems to be pretty much that exact same thing, and man everything just aligned
I loved your video, Alana... It just got me thinking again about my own loss of a father in my teens and how those sharing musical experiences with your parents live forever and bring them back into your life... Thanks and take care... x
I’ve been in radio broadcasting in Australia for over 20 years. I’ve got 78,000 songs in my personal library and access the station’s library as well. Of all those albums, The Beatles definitely sits at number 1 spot for me. Of the Beatles catalogue Abbey Road is my favourite and number two is Sgt Pepppers. So I’m older than your Dad was, but I guess my sons have grown up listening to music much the same as you did. Both of them are big Beatles fans.
That's one of the Pink Floyd lyrics that stands out most for me. Amazing how music can transport you to another time and connect you to people on a very emotional level.
@@matthewsmith8727I’m sorry to say that is one band I never got to see live. Regret 😢that. I did see Roger Waters as part of the lineup at Desert Trip which took place in Coachella and included: The Who, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and The Rolling Stones.
OMG! You're crying, I'm crying!! I think there's something special about Queen. Great musicians, great energy, great sound, great variety in their work! Incomparable!🙂🙂🙂 Maybe someone from Queen will see your tribute. . . .
@@Rowlph8888Yes but what Suzanne and Alana are talking about is the intimate connection of music to one’s life and that of our loved ones. The Beatles are in a league of their own as far as the sheer number of important and long living songs they produced. However I saw them live twice and except for the pent up enthusiasm I can’t say they were memorable performances musically. Way too much teenage girl screaming. Ha. But still some of the most memorable events of my life as a young person.
Wow! This has to be my all-time absolute favourite video you've done to date! Well thought out, absorbing, enlightening, articulate and beautifully expressed. You've inspired me to maybe get back to listening to music again, starting with these 10 albums. Just an excellent video. (I lost my dad at 27 and there is music that he liked that I still can't listen to even now, decades later. I'm so sorry for your loss, but very much appreciated your honest emotion.)
Great video Alanna. My thoughts: Adele- Not a fan, Amy Winehouse- never got into her, not my style, Fleetwood Mac- great band, Queen- who doesn't love Queen? Classic. Very sweet, hilarious story about Fat Bottom Girls. Dire Straits- I dig. I'm into them. Pink Floyd- one of the best of all time honestly. Prob my fav on the list. Oasis- I can get down with some Oasis, very 90's. The Beatles- I enjoy some stuff of theirs, the weirder stuff. Where did you get the list from?
It is highly debatable whether ‘Rumours’ was a British album. Notwithstanding Fleetwood Mac’s British origins, the band had by that time become fairly Americanised with the addition of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.
Queen II (or 2, if you like!), is my favourite Queen album - and the first one I bought, including the single 'Seven Seas Of Rhye', which is my favourite song by them. Some of the songs are very much heavier than their later songs, and there's a lot of 'dungeons & dragons' about it, but you should give it a listen, and it should be a revelation to you! Also try their 3rd LP, 'Sheer Heart Attack'!!
Queen was my wife’s favourite band, and she wanted us to sing queen songs at her funeral. Incredibly difficult songs to sing, we did our best. Like you I have avoided Queen since then, I will have to try.
Haven’t made a comment on your channel for a couple of years because you get so many now is amazing how you channel has grown so firstly congratulations I remember those times when you lost your dad and went back to Canada back home and still you made some content in that hard time for us to follow…….but I just wanted to say music is the key of life and it is more powerful than people imagine how important it is to us all,I had a stroke 2 years ago so can no longer work but I make music on my iPad that isn’t half bad ,so music is the key of life
Oh my! I wasn't ready to cry with you but I did! I have my own visceral connection through music to a daughter I didn't see for nearly 20 years so I feel this deeply. A great video Alanna. I was surprised that there wasn't any Led Zep though.
Music has a way of taking us back and reminding us of people and times gone by and emotions we felt. For me it's Setting Sons by the Jam. it always brings back to me the feelings from those happy days at school in the late 70's and the fun we had back then. I hope you have added Queen back into your favourite playlist now and listen to it more often and with a smile next time instead of just tears while remembering your dad. 🙂
Right on Howard. I have a whole folder titled “Cheers for Tears” full of various music that evokes that emotional response. We all have the music of our youth that influences us no matter what decade one is from however the 60’s and 70’s are hard to beat.
Alana so sorry for your loss but how wonderful that you can play queen and instantly be transported to happy times with your dad. I highly recommend you taking in the west end show "we will rock you" featuring Queens greatest hits x
Queen 'Greatest Hits I' and 'Greatest Hits II' are both very good albums. Get your ears around their album 'Innuendo'. Their craftsmanship on this one in Freddie's last months of life was fantastic.
If there is a hereafter.....your Dad will be chuckling over his daughter getting emotional over " Fat Bottomed Girls"!! Sad your Dad passed but hilarious that it's that song that got to you!
Hi,that was by far your best video, loved it. I hope my girls remember me with such love and emotion when my time comes, and they hear the songs I used to play them over and over when they were young, many of the ones you have reviewed today. Well done, you’re becoming quite the RUclipsr. I’m sure your father would be very proud.
The choice of albums is entirely up my street... except Oasis. The one song in that lot that can guarantee to get me tearful is Show must go on by Queen. This song was performed by Freddie Mercury just weeks before his death and, for me it was his swan song. The sheer power and drive, assisted by much Vodka, and oh, those lyrics! And all from a man who knew he was dying. Breaks my heart.
If someone says to me that Queen are their favourite band I immediately shut them off in my mind. They clearly don't know real music as there is far more creative and intelligent music out there. Chart success is not art success.
Queen...Yes!!! No one will ever surpass Freddie Mercury but the group as a whole, unbelievable!!! I grew up with Queen and their music was the soundtrack of my life.
Oh my heart. Alanna , loved to hear from my fellow Canadian (Cape Breton). Music is so important to a persons soul. I agree with your taste in music my dear which is surprsing as I am almost 60yrs. Testament that good music spans generations. Keep doing what you do so well.👍
All great albums in my opinion. I remember buying one of the Queen albums when I was a teenager, and my mum absolutely loved them. I get it as I still can't listen to Killer Queen, my mum's favourite track. I still remember us dancing around and singing 🙂. She died in 1994 and I still can't process properly.

@TT Queen is for Broadway show tunes loving musical theater people. Have never liked any of their songs. After that recent movie people are jumping on the bandwagon left and right and they previously were a forgotten band for almost 30 years because they are just not very good. The only reason they are popular now is with the rainbow flag weaving they/thems or whatever they wanna call themselves. No other reason than wokeness. That’s the truth.

This list is acutally the ten British albums which have sold the most copies in Britain, counting down from number ten, 'Adele 25' to number one, 'Queen's Greatest Hits I'
Ahhhhhhhhhhh, that makes more sense - thanks for clarifying.
Thanks, I was wondering where she got this from.
You can always rely on the bad taste of the masses.
I was wondering that, seemed a bit random to have so many relatively current ones
Greatest Hits, hardly a regular album 🙂
Once again, great video ❤ 17:24 17:24 17:24
Bless you Alanna. It’s incredible how music can bring out the strongest emotions out in us. x

Well done Alanna, your best video yet. You touched on so many truths about music and how it connects us. Beautifully done. Thank you.
Say what you want about Brits, but we know how to do bands! It’s actually absurd how many big bands, of each era and decade, are British when you look into it
I'd love to see the most popular/successful bands of all time and which countries they're from - I think the UK would dominate
@@AdventuresAndNaps definitely, obviously there are some really big American bands too but overall I think the U.K. takes it
I feel like the best bands don't get enough exposure anymore though. Like, Ed Sheeran and Adelle and all that are talented, but their music is nothing that special or unique. The times where the likes of the Beatles and Pink Floyd get all the plaudits are long gone. The best bands of the day just aren't considered 'profitable' enough sadly
Brits have some of the greatest artists ever
Generally speaking the brits produce the best bands and America produces the best solo Artists .
Of all the albums , you can tell Alanna REALLY liked Dark Side , This Lady has taste 👍👍

What a great honest video Alanna. I was afraid all the albums were going to be current so very happy to see the Beatles, Queen, Dire Straits and Fleetwood Mac
Thanks so much Andrew! ☺️
I've just started watching and seeing Adele and Amy Winehouse as the first choices, I was thinking the same. Nice to know there's some good stuff coming up.
I really want to give you a hug right now! 💗
Time is, in my opinion, the greatest lyrics in history. Means so much to me and is probably the only song I can truly say impacted my life.
"And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around, to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."
Thanks for listening!!
I'm an old grizzled bloke but the Queen stuff hits hard, took me back to memories of my Mam, I never thought I'd shed a tear watching Alana but here we are.
Queen are overrated asf and musically garbage except for maybe Brian may on one song of theirs
Lyrics to 'Time' are one of the best things in art.
For me, 2nd only after Comfortably Numb.
All such lists are subjective , but your experience in the park shows the raw power of music and memory. Very moving. Thanks for being so open.
Indeed subjective...music is subjective...like art....like pretty much everything.
Thank you very much for watching ☺️
For sure. I think I would have had a different top ten. Did the author give her source of who rated the top ten she listened to?
When you pulled out that verse from Floyd's Time, I smiled to myself. It is such a powerful existential lyric that hits harder the older you get.
Queen at live aid at Wembley, was just wow
the Beatles are truly timeless. in my opinion there never has been and never will be a more influential artist(s) in music, all achieved in just 7 years. Lennon-McCartney possibly the best song writing duo to live

Love music content from you ! Didn't expect this at all
This is my first video of yours I’ve seen and what a lovely story about queen and your dad.
Your Sons are very lucky to have had your influence but also all those listeners on the radio are lucky too.
Mohammed Ali /Cassius Clay famously said 'if you still have the same opinions at age 40 that you had at age 20 you have wasted 20 years'....
That's one of the Pink Floyd lyrics that stands out most for me. Amazing how music can transport you to another time and connect you to people on a very emotional level.
Pink Floyd will always be the best concert I’ve been too just simply incredible

@@Rowlph8888Yes but what Suzanne and Alana are talking about is the intimate connection of music to one’s life and that of our loved ones. The Beatles are in a league of their own as far as the sheer number of important and long living songs they produced. However I saw them live twice and except for the pent up enthusiasm I can’t say they were memorable performances musically. Way too much teenage girl screaming. Ha. But still some of the most memorable events of my life as a young person.

You're a legend.
Pink Floyd should be #1. The contribution and influance they had over decades is amazing.
Queen was my wife’s favourite band, and she wanted us to sing queen songs at her funeral. Incredibly difficult songs to sing, we did our best. Like you I have avoided Queen since then, I will have to try.

These Are The Days Of Our Lives is also very emotional.
The guitar playing of Brian May is instantly recognisable - and he also made that red guitar himself.
Queen...Yes!!! No one will ever surpass Freddie Mercury but the group as a whole, unbelievable!!! I grew up with Queen and their music was the soundtrack of my life.
