  • Every Keychron normal profile K-series (K2, K4, K6, etc.) or really most other mechanical keyboards can be taken apart and modded to sound ten times better using just three simple mods. Here, I show you what the effect of each mod is on the sound of the keyboard using the Keychron K6!
    Build:
    - Keyboard: Keychron K6 Aluminum RGB (Hotswap)
    - Switches: Akko Lavender Purple (factory lubed)
    - Mods: Tape mod, case foam, PE foam
    This board was built for a friend. If you are based in Hong Kong, please DM on Instagram (@meboardhk) for details on how I can help you build one too.

    I've noticed that when you first disassemble the keyboard, there's no silicon bottom pad and sound dampening plate foam. However, Keychron stated they'll include them for K6. Is it only for keyboard with aluminum frame?

      I believe you might be looking at the K6 Pro! The original K6 did not have these components

    I wanna see someone make the most chaotic Keeb mod in history - use conductive duct tape, sandpaper your stems with 80 grid, fuck it put some tin foil in there too and top it all off with Cherry MX Blues

    Hi im new to modding. if replacing your switches to Akko (pre-lubed) didnt make any huge difference, do you think it is still necessary to buy it? i ll just focus on the tape mod instead

      Nah bro. dont use the tape and pe foam mod on the V1. Tape mod cancels out the silicone pad in there. PE foam blocks out the RGB. Just do the stab mods. lube with 205g0 for stabs. and then change the switches.

    Does the Foam impact the battery? (Heat or something)

    I'm scared to take the PCB out of the keyboard without messing with the toggle switches on the left. Any tips, please?

    • @meboard
      @meboard  Год назад

      Flip the entire case and the PCB should fall right out after unscrewing it 😊

    For the PE foam mod on the PCB, did you cut out squares for the stabs?

    • @meboard
      @meboard  5 месяцев назад

      Yes! don't try to screw in stabilizers into the PE foam, you could end up unbalancing the stabs and give yourself rattle 💪
