    Jesus Christ are you a wizard? That foam from the package is like the bird from the window from adventure time. Changed my sound completly. Its magical.

    I've seen that when people do the forcebreak mod on the Q2 it really helps eliminate the hollow sound too.

    I wouldn’t have guessed you were new to keyboards. Nice and chill vid!

  • @JaceB99

    I just got this keyboard, and I am very impressed. For *only* $179 you get a solid aluminum keyboard that has a nice bit of weight to it, solidly good stabilizers stock (still recommend band-aid and relube), and flawless QMK support. I didn't go for the knob version because I wanted the extra key though. Putting a layer of packing foam was definitely a tight fit, and the pressure would have terrified me if I had chosen a plastic board (such as the V2).

      The knob is technically 3 keys though

      @@MrChocEntrax That's true, though EC11 Rotary Encoders are about $1 so soldering one in later and flashing with the knob firmware is always an option.

    Followed these mods and I have to say you nailed it with the case foam being the most important, I dabbled with silicon sheets, denser foam sheets, and another sound dampening material on the bottom layer however the case foam clearly brought out the best tones. All the others were too clacky (if that is your thing) while I get the much better thock out of the case foam. Also, I ordered the prebuilt as it was the only way to get white in stock, and my case foam was different looking. I ended up using case foam from my first GMMK Pro build as it looked very similar to yours in the video. Thanks for the great vid

    I actually left the thin foam because I was told it works as a low pass filter making the soung thockier :)

    Hey I also have a Keychron Q2 and I have experienced the PCB issue where some keys would not actuate. I also used PE foam for my build. I found that removing the plate foam eliminated the issue, but I still got in contact with Keychron to send me a new PCB(which was a pain btw not happy with the customer service) but when i got the new pcb, funnily enough, it had the same issue with the original PCB, just a different key that wouldn’t actuate. Would expect from a big manufacturer like Keychron that they would get quality control on point but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Anyway, sorry for rambling, great work on the video man!

    Got a Q2, and the packing foam does not come in 3 layers, but 2. Its far to fat to fit, so you need to buy something else as it's really hard to slice it down to the correct height.

    Question mate, are your alphas deeper on the left side? I can't figure it out, mine has a more muted and poppy sound on the right side of the board. I've done almost the same mod, except polyfill for the case. Thanks!

    • @AvinashKunjamboo
      @AvinashKunjamboo  2 года назад

      Hey mate, not from my experience no - could it be the tightening of the screws maybe? Or the polyfil not evenly distributed? Let me know!
