Just used this video guide to fix the irritatingly awful squeak on my wife's Drevo keyboard. It's been bugging me for years, and now it's smooth and quiet. Thank you so much!
I've watched stabilizer lubing guides by many smaller RUclipsrs. And Taeha's guide is still the best. No one else covers what to do when you underlube and overlube, as well as the stabilizer testing process.
Bought a 5ml vial of 205g0 and some Durock V2 clear screw ins so I can do exactly what you did for my first build. Your professionalism inspires confidence.
3:47 filing the clipped stems with a nail filer is also a nice touch as it made the stem as smooth and perfectly flat as the pre-clipped stabs like Durock, etc.
I like to clip cherry stabilizers at a 45-degree angle, so that the legs are still there but no fangs. Then put some electrical tape with a dolup of grease on top, on the pcb before installing the lubed stab's. It makes them sound nice and clacky and feel tight.
The syringe one is very helpful! I built my keeb a month ago and I didn’t lube my stab wires well so it rattles a lot and now I just realize if I want to fix the stabs, I’ll have to desolder everything on my board so I fixed it with some piece of tape to reduce the wiggle room. The rattling noise is still there but just a little but still, I wish to remove it entirely. Never thought of this syringe method before. I’ll give it a try. Thanks Taeha!

I'm building a GMMK pro White Ice, yesterday I spent 5 hours lubing and filming my 82 switches, I work on PC's for a living and I thought I could do the switches in 3 hours tops, oh how wrong I was! Films added so much more time to the switch lubing process, all that's left to do is my v2 durock stabs, I bought lube and grease for this build, and I think I'll still use the grease on the stabs. Very helpful video as always Taeha thanks a bunch!
Taeha, I want to let you know how amazing this method is. I lubed my stabs while watching this video, they went from super rattly to so perfect. This is also my first time lubing stabs, and they are stock stabs too! Keep up the good work
I just finished re-building a Tokyo60 v1 I got years back. First ever keyboard build for me. Props to you, great tutorial! My stabilizers are completely silent, zero rattle. Thanks!
This is the first time I've seen a video on this topic where I came away thinking it was actually doable. You gained another sub--you're an excellent teacher. I love how you explained WHY these techniques work.
Great tutorial! I think you can use interdental brush to remove excess lube inside. You just need to stick it inside like your scraping something or just letting the bristle of the brush to stick as much lube as possible then wipe the tip of the brush with paper towel or wipes. You may need to repeat the process several times until you notice there are to little lube are sticking to the bristle then you may proceed with reapply lube using the syringe method. It works fine with me and save me hassle to desoldering all of the switches.
Even though this video is pretty old, it still helped me out SO MUCH in modding my budget GK61. I was about to go out and buy new stabilizers and grease, but saved myself 30 bucks by watching your video! Now my keyboard sounds 5x better...
The stabs and backplate for my first ever custom keyboard arrived today, so i googled "how to lube keyboard stabilisers" and see this video was uploaded just a few hours ago. The timing couldn't have been more perfect!
Nice guide. I've been working on my first keyboard over the past few weeks. Spent $800 in parts roughly, so I kind of went all in. Been taking it very slow, making sure everything is absolutely perfect before soldering it down. These guides are super helpful!
finally after two years, I am done lubing my full size keyboard, the way he said. as i own a razer huntsman v2, now i will start with lubing stabilizers, which in fact are on every god darn switch. See you again after two years, guys.
Hey, Taeha. Just started building my new keyboard which I was very excited to start. Now that I started all I want to do is finish lol, but since I have your videos it has helped me so much. Thank you Taeha for helping me with this process!
For anyone still watching this amazing guide, I have a tip that is probably going to sound like the most absurd thing you've ever heard. To start, make sure all of your switches are lubed. A lot of the time, if a switch is not lubed, it will sound scratchy and make the entire stabilizer sound like it is rattling. Secondly, and this is the crazy part, if a stabilizer is rattling, and no amount of lube will fix it, switch the switch with another from a different key. Once again, I know it sounds ridiculous, but it may work.
Will I ever use the information given in this video? No. So will I stop the video and move on about my day? Also no. That's the mark of a great tutorial right there, sir. I'm learning how to do things I'll never do. Cheers.

I have two keyboards I lubed with 2 stroke motor oil (which is relatively viscous). The first one I did 4 or more years ago and is still working like a charm. The second is more recent and also working like a charm. In both cases I did that without any disassembly and also lubing the stabilizers can be done this way. The result is a much quieter keyboard while also paired with O-Rings for each keycap. Keys sound super solid and no rattle. A quiet "thump" instead of "clackity clack"
