This was my first time modding a keyboard and was wondering why the keycap was stuck after modding the stabilizers. I cried for about 5 minutes but I came across this video and how it clearly explains that the stem is supposed to be placed in a specific way.. honestly thanks so much dude 😭
As a beginner to mechanical keyboards with no lube, this mod really helped make my spacebar sound as decent as it would with lubing stabilizers, so ty for that :)
Fantastic camera work. The closeups on those stabilizer mods are excellent. And the way you showed how to reassemble a stabilizer "make sure the orientation is correct" (paraphrased), was very helpful. I'm about to mod stabilizers for the first time and was actually avoiding doing it because what if I can't get the stabilizer back together properly. (It happened when I first started working with switches.) This video has given me more confidence to go forward. Thank you.
Did the band aid wrap on the spacebar and it’s 👌. There was a ticking that I could not get rid of no matter how much lube I put and wire balancing I did. Great video man, I can finally type in peace.
I recommend using krytox for the wire and the housing and stem. Dielectric grease will make your stabs a bit too mushy. Although I can say your spacebar after those mods do sound nice
Usually I would recommened 205g2 for wires over dielectric grease as you said. However, in my case, the fabric tape I use is significantly thinner than normal bandaids. As a result, I chose to use dielectric grease. But yes, I should have addressed that.
Amazing guide, as a beginner I've found it very useful. Managed to do all of them except for the leg clipping and works like a charm, really silent thank you!
Also an important thing-> The stem of stab. hits the PCB. So you need to stick some patch on the PCB. It should also reduce the noise level and protect the PCB.
I have noticed other people doing it however, it causes the stabilizers to feel mushy and less satisfying imo. Ig it’s preference but I recommend against doing that
@@YBBK i second this, it does cause mushiness in my experience as well, which is why I opted out of using the stock stabilizer pads that came with my Kbd67 Lite R3.

YOU CAN DO ALL THE OTHER MODS TOGETHER EXCEPT FOR HOLEE MOD OR BANDAID WRAP, ONLY CHOOSE ONE!! I forgot to include this in the video, your stabilizer stems may come pre clipped. If so, you can skip the clipping part. If you are clipping, please make sure the bottom of the stem is completely flat and no parts of the leg remain, in the video, I did not show this. In addition, the bandaid on plate mod only applies to those who what plate mount stabilizers. For those who have pcb mount, you can skip that part. NOTE: I did not include wire balancing in this video, unfortunately at the time I did not know about it. I’d say wire balancing is the one of the most crucial steps in ensuring no tick or rattle. Please consider searching it up and following a tutorial!
Ohhhh my gosh thank you so much for this video it helped ALOT i have an rk61 with husky switches and the rattle in the space bar was so much that i almost bought a new keyboard because of it but then i stumbled across your video and watched it. Hey man, this is the most helpful vid I have seen yet, and I appreciate you helping me out. I just have one question. When using the space bar, the right side is significantly more mushy than the left. Any idea why?
I dont know what I was thinking, doing this mod with outemu blues wont make it sound any better, but it feels much better, and hopefully when I get some new switches It will sound and feel much nicer than it would without this mod, thanks!

This took me a few hours and a lot of brain cells, but my space bar sounds a lot better now even without any grease or lube. I also added pieces of tape on the PCB where the stabillizer makes contact, not sure if that did anything.

I tried with the other stabilizers but the spacebar is the only thing that opens might be because the wire is longer there.
Haha thanks! The other stabilizers should be able to open as well. You might need to try more force or get a flat head screwdriver and pry under while pushing on the latch
The bandaid wrap fixed very stubborn rattling on my space bar, but at the cost of mushiness. I have to open up my keyboard again and see if I can apply thinner tape, since the bandaid that was used for this is kind of thick.
Yo, I have the same problem! I think the thickness of the tape I used greatly contributed to the mushiness of the whole thing. Damn, I wish I did more research about this.
