I'm a big fan of ASP-C cameras, great performance to price to size ratio. I just got mine and yes it's impressive. Feels very responsive. My one wish is the shutter is louder than I'd hope. Yes it can be put in Silent Mode, but that means electronic shutter and for fast moving subjects that may be an issue.
I'm still using my A6000, and so amazing how far Sony's APS-C cameras have come.
I have a A6400 bought in May when this new 6700 was not announced yet. I'm thinking to do the upgrade
I’m new to photography and videos recording and this video helped me a lot to decide. I mean yeah there are probably older models to start with that are good for beginners like the 6400 but in my opinion it’s better to buy something good than buying twice. Photography is an expensive hobby but the quality of the pictures are well worth it if you learn to properly photograph. Thanks a lot 👍🏼

The full frame body is not much larger, but the lenses sure are! Pricier, too.
Despite loving the look of full-frame, I still have APSC for being compact and less obvious when trying for candid shots 😊

Your English is excellent! I have an A7 M4 and a bunch of lenses ranging from the Sigma 150-600mm sport down to a bunch of old Minolta primes and zooms that work pretty well with the LA-EA5 adapter. It was part of my transition from Sony A-mount to E-mount. I just ordered an A6700. I was waiting for an upgrade to the Sony RX10 but it hasn't come and probably won't. So, I look at the A6700 as a travel camera with smaller lenses, such as the Tamron 28-300 zoom. It was great on my A99ii. I sort of suspect the A6700 is going to displace the A7M4 as my favorite camera. We'll see.
By far the most impressive thing about this video is that you're travelling in a van with two infants - well done to you and your girlfriend!! Also great review of the A6700. Do you have any thoughts on how it compares with the Fujifilm SX-20? Appreciate the comments on APS-C over full frame too - I'm currently trying to figure that out for an upgrade.

A6700 looks very good... finally :) - with that said, the Fuji X-S20 has a lot to like too! - 6.2k open gate, 7 stops IBIS (2 more than Sony), 4k60 webcam for external recording and power with 1 USB cable (no drivers needed), 10bit 4:2:2 360mbit (vs 100mbit on the Sony), raw video external recording, 13+ stops dynamic range, nicer screen, joystick, 30fps stills, fuji colours, better app, cheaper, etc, etc.
Not to mention Sony have a history in neglecting cameras once they are released while my old X-T3 is still receiving updates and is compatible with the new XApp phone app.
Agreed! And the other hand Lumix m43 and FF. FF with new s5ii and m43 with gh6 (waveforms, open gate, external raw, pro res and all-in), maybe in a few months we'll see g9ii too.

I think you will find the IBIS not that much different than the Sony’s, or that is what I have seen on other reviews. Neither are good enough for walking and talking style, though Sony with their EIS turned on is OK. Check out Pascal Basels review of the XS20. Nice camera! Both are!
@@gordon3988 I returned my X-S20, low dynamic range in 6.2k and poor video autofocus. On the Sony you’re right the ibis is not much better but there’s no corner wobbles and it captures motion data so the stabilisation in post is unreal on Sony but unusable on Fuji.

This is am amazing camera, I can't justify upgrading my 6400 yet ,but this is an amazing apsc beast, the IBIS is an absolute cherry on top
I upgrade from a6400 to a6700 and I don't regret it. Autofocus is fantastic, I think even better than on the a7iv. The a7cii model do3s not offer anything extra except the FF sensor and the high price. A6700 is a great choice if you don't really insist on FF. A6700 is my second body, for commercial photography I have A7RV, still love the small apsc with new features.
aiiiiaiaiaii, looks like I’ll be buying a camera within the next 3-6 months, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for in terms of price vs features - FINALLY I’ll be able to film and photograph stuff while using my phone to do «phone» stuff :D

Other than Fujifilm, Sony APSC ecosystem is very complete with sufficient lens to make it a viable option. I prefer tiny lens as well such as the sigma 18-50mm f2.8. Yes this makes portability so much better. I've a A7iv and I'm contemplating downgrading to apsc.

Does the camera overheat after filming in 4K60fps ?
As they are now closer in price. I would be interested to see this one vs the Sony Alpha 7C. Although that one is full-frame, I would be interested in seeing if this one might have more benefits than that one for a beginner.
If you take pictures I'd recommend the A7C over the A6700, for video it depends if you need very good low light capabilities. If you don't, then the A6700 is an obvious choice.

I would guess that the new sensor on the a6700 is better. It’s the same sensor as the fx30 has which is a great piece. But I’ve never tried the 7C so I’m not sure

I upgraded last week from my alpha 6400 to the alpha 7m4, but I love seeing Sony caring about apsc, since I'll keep my 6400 for other purposes, like Webcam and maybe as a second camera.
This apsc is sick, but the 7m4 is also great ☺️
@@thaticelandicguy as far as I saw they basicly added all the amazing features of the current full format generation to it. I didn't expect 4k 120 though. It still blows my mind. I hope they release a new set of G lenses when they release the 6700.

the Alpha 7M4 was my favorite one and I was thinking to buy it but I'm an amateur, a Full Frame camera is too much for me (weight and costs). I have a 6400 bought last May 2023 and now I would like to upgrade to the A6700 which I like even more than the Alpha 7M4

7:05 the reasons for going APS-C are fading.
The A7C costs less than the A6700. (Prime day 1680 Euro A7c vs 1699 Euro a6700)
The A7C is the same size as the A6700 and weights the same.
There are now tons of lenses for cheap and weight for full frame.
My current apsc lineup is sigma 16mm 1.4, 30mm 1.4, Sony 18-105. and I shoot 98 percent of my photos of with the Sigma.
those are 405g, 265g, 427g = 1,096g
possible replacements:
samyang 24 1.8 230g, sony zeiss 55 1.8 281g, sony 24-105 663g = 1,174g
I'm still on an a6000 but I'm having a hard time upgrading to another APS-C. there is no noticable jump in picture quality.
The video quality between a6400 and a6700 is huge. The latter is so much better footage. But apsc vs ff doesn’t matter. Use whatever you like and think works best for you and your work☺️

It's the 18-135 that stops me from going to FF. Maybe the 24-105 would fill the gap but there's still a lot of zoom missing... But you're right. The a7c is super tempting. Can't wait to see the mkii

i am so confused between these two actually my main focus on videos as a cinematic content creator, So is ZV-E1 have better video quality then A7Iv or i need to go with a7iv, also 6700 is good but crop sensor, that's the factor

I'm curious about what cameras you actually own now - I know you have had A6300 and A6400 (me too) and that you got an A7IV (also me too :) - I sold my A6300 (still have the A6400), and now have... A7IV, FX3 (use more for commercial video work), A6400, and a ZV-E1 (because I really wanted a more travel friendly video camera and I thought it would be an excuse to get ride of APSC)... I was going to move completely to full frame, but with the A6700, the FX30, etc... I always wonder if I should still have APSC? I'm curious about how much you use full frame vs APSC? Do you use APSC as much as full frame? Or do you use the A7IV more at this point?
That's a big question, but curious of how you think about the APSC / Full Frame dilemma :)

It's genuenly amazing in lowlight
The pricing strategy for Europe makes it a dealbreaker (at least for now) - its $1400 USD but €1700 in the EU or £1400 in the UK. At conversion rates, that's about a 40% premium for buying in Europe or UK!
Was going to buy it straight away but think I will wait till grey market dealers get hold of it and it becomes possible to buy here at US prices.
Counterpoint, it doesn't cost you tens of thousands of dollars to go to the hospital.

It's the same price. Subtract VAT and see how much it is. I the States taxes work differently

Does the Exmor T sensor seen in Xperia 1V not yet ready for mirrorless? I have 6300 but will only upgrade if the low light and dynamic range improved. I own the Xperia 1V and the low light performance is way better than the previous generation.
The low light on the Xperia 1V is remarkable. I haven’t tried the a6700 for low light yet

Nowadays if you are not interested in video you will be paying a big premium buying the latest kit and probably the cameras from years ago will do the job. It is fascinating seeing the excitement the external facilities that are in the 2016 Panasonic G80 still going strong at half the price excite the Sony user. You tube reviews tend to be very videocentric and should be approached with caution by the stills photographer. I am sure buying the latest camera I will be spending an extra £500 for specialised features that I will never use
What about the rolling shutter?

Admittedly I don’t need to but the 10-bit footage, viewfinder, better battery life, IBIS, and new features are so tempting 😂

Currently using the a6000 with a few decent lenses, perfectly happy with the picture quality however I’d like some better video. I don’t really want to go full frame as it would having to change all my lenses which can be expensive. Do you think this is worth the money to upgrade?
Imo the a6700 is fantastic, it’s all I wished the a6300 or a6400 were. But ultimately it’s up to you ☺️
You can use your same crop-sensor lenses on the Sony full-frame, as they are the same e-mount.
Also, the full frame cameras come with a "crop mode" to work with these lenses.

A tilt screen is so much better.
I really don’t want to have to reach over with my left hand, pull out, twist and re-align every time I want to shoot low or high. Then I have to look left away from the axis of the lens constantly as I’m shooting. Then if I want to continue using the screen I have to leave it sticking out to the side which isn’t just inconvenient it also tells everyone you’re shooting. It’s not discreet. Then I’d have to repeat all of the above again and again when I want to place it back in place.
The tilt… it’s so much quicker, literally a finger flick and it’s behind the camera constantly. It’s discreet, fast and unobtrusive.
Why do camera manufacturers and especially RUclipsrs think all we do is vlog or take selfies? I’ve shot around 500 weddings and events now and do you know what… I’ve never once had to shoot myself.
Well personally I've never liked the tilt screen. When taking vertical photos low angle, it's a nightmare. You're just guessing. Plus I just think the vari angle is just so much nicer in every aspect. However, i guess it's just a point of preference. It ain't right or wrong, just what you prefer :)
@@thaticelandicguyYeah, I also shoot vertical photos and the articulating screen helps to go low or high very easily. That's the thing most people often fail to recognise. The articulating screen is not only for vlogging or selfies. While if you want to shoot horizontally, you can, but you can also shoot vertical with the articulating screen. You can't do that with the tilt screen. Tilt screen was the reason I couldn't get myself to buy the a6400, instead I decided to go with the ZV-E10. Good thing I waited though, now I can get the a6700.
I like the A7RV's screen the most. I like tilting when shooting horizontally, but if I had to choose one of them, I will always choose articulating for the flexibility.

Overheating is a real issue
My only question- Is it worth spending so much money on this camera when you can put a little more money and buy a full frame. I think this is a perfect second/backup camera but not at all the first/primary camera.
Yes, it is worth it. By your logic, you can spend a bit more and get any camera. Full frame is gonna be more expensive in the long run. The lenses are very expensive compared to the APSC lenses. Besides, you can use any lens with the APSC. I really like that, I can use any e mount lenses without worrying about compatibility. And I also like the extra reach when I do bird photography or something. But, I am mostly a portrait and automotive photographer. I will definitely get a full frame camera later, but I won't get rid of my APSC, because I really love how compact my setup is.

Im really torn here if i should sell my a7c with tamron 28-70 2.8 and 70-180 2.8 (which i never use) and get a a6700 with 10-20 and 18-50 2.8 instead. Since that kit is much smaller and 1kg lighter. (Use it mostly for travel)

Can this camera apply LUTs to JPG photos like the Lumix S5ii? If the A6700 can do that, then I would gladly say goodbye to Fujifilm's film simulation (which never really looked like real film anyway).
No u cant apply luts to photos on 6700 but can only be done in videos

The big question is are they results with a much bigger menu and extra gimmicks that much better than the A 6600
Imo this is a much better camera, it’s more then just menu and gimmicks there a whole new sensor
