- As a big fan of The Witcher 3 and now CD Project Red announced that the new installment of The Witcher will be using UE5, I wanted to explore how the Witcher 3 characters could look like using metahumans. The new mesh to metahuman function made it very easy to use The Witcher 3 characters as reference. Metahumans right now is limited with certain hair styles, eyebrows, eye colors and ofcourse no scars, but I did my best for Geralt, Yennifer, Olgierd and Triss.

You know what. With that kind of face realism, the worst silicone valley will look for dwarfs. Because the are fantasy and yet so real.

@@cgadventures6772 I think Geralt sticks out a lot because he doesn't have a lot of his signature facial features/details like his bright yellow eyes and scars, along with his beard looking like Keanu Reeves than Geralt, but that can be all boiled down to the fact that Metahuman is still fairly new and doesn't have options for custom details like that, however an opinion I'd say is he looks way too young, he looks younger than he was in the third game, and I can imagine he would have aged a little more in the 4th, this last point is a little bit of a nitpick but I think his eyebrows could also be a little be sharper and thinner

What ruins Gerald, is his hair. He is rocking an unkempt man bun, that lacks masculinity. It reminds me of those old Asian costumes, minus the sticks.
Thin it out, pull it tighter, and it will look better.
Geralt looks Japanese. But all the characters look amazing. They look like old painted portraits👍

2:12 - I am not sure for the skin texture .. thought it could look more realistic in 2022
2:57 - but the Facial expressions/movements here just look damm awesome ! ! !
2:39 - natural looking smiles still seem to be one the biggest challenge
3:56 - this smiles looks especially weird
The skin textures can look a lot better, this is not recorded locally in engine, but through the Metahumans creator tool in the webbrowser. So the details are not as crisp as they could be in the engine, but for now I don't have acces to the same animations, that's why I recorded it like this. Also you can donwload the Metahuman an costumize it how you want. I will update Geralt with his scars and make it more like the original. Smiles are indeed difficult, because everyone has other facial features.
I hope they'll implement a wound system, imagine how sword cuts will look with these graphics

There’s always a difference between rendering a whole game and rendering a single face, I guess we’ll see this in practice for UE7 games.
Mind you, no game achieved the same quality as the UE4 demos at this point

@@harshilpatel5950 What about it? It's a nice-looking game, but that's mostly due to the art direction, in terms of graphical fidelity it's nothing groundbreaking.

This is a good proof of concept for how secondary characters could look, and you can still use this system to make bespoke characters. The Matrix Awakens demo still used metahumans for Keanu for example.

@@cgadventures6772 For your 1st try it's ok, but if you want maybe you can improve him, make him a little grittier and battle worn with a slightly older skin, but not too old, just a notch older.
Triss just looks better but it's normal lol. Triss just looks better than yennefer in every aspect in my opinion.

Расстроен ли я?.... Ну слегка. Где фиалковые глазки Йенифер? Жгучий нрав в глазах? Её черты лица теперь слишком мягкие. Так же как и у Геральта, он выглядит кратно младше, и менее мужественно. В частности из за ребяческих глаз и отсутсвия шрамов. Но Трис и в особенности Ольгерд получились прекрасно. Так то работы потрясаюшее, колоссальная работа)

Why does Geralt looks like a common old man? He sould have Witcher eyes, Scar on the left eye and additional scars depict witcher lifestyle, and his hair style looks totally different.
As far as the complexity of facial expression, the new engine is kind of Ace.

Geralt was already perfect in TW3.
They look great, but I prefer witcher3 looks better (hair, face, eyes, jawline etc). Geralt doesnt look like himself at all. However visually this looks stunning and better than the games.
Gerald looks like an anime girl. He does not have male features like scars and cheek bones, more than that, his eyes are too small. I am waiting for a new video with updates. Thank you for making this content!

Looks pretty good. Faces still look a bit texture weak...something about the skin seems a bit less 'real'. Then again, moot point as zero confidence in CDPR actually knowing how to use the Unreal engine tech. If they can pay EPIC to fix their new game, they should be ok...otherwise it's going to be a bit prettier, and a slow stutterfest.
I think most of the skin problems in the video could be the resolution, this is not captured inengine, but through the Metahumans creator tool. The hardest part for making a good playable game is definitely optimisation.

Более-менее получилась только Трис, в ней хоть какая-то сексуальность проявляется. А Геральту конечно не повезло, его из белого волка превратили в крашенного андрогин-щенка с наклеенной бородкой из ТЮЗа.

CDPR already confirmed Geralt's story is complete and that Witcher 4 would NOT feature Geralt as the main character.

They still got their key features that make them look like themselves.

Que espetáculo de imagem. Ficou perfeito, super natural, se confunde muito fácil com vida real. Os traços que identificam que não é real só ficam visíveis de acordo com a luz, só que é tão sutil tão sutil, só quem tem olho bem treinado para isso vai perceber. A mulher hulk tinha que ter sido feita com essa engine, certamente teria ficado real, o que não é o caso, ela entra no vale da estranheza 100%. Vocês são notas 1000, parabéns pelo belíssimo trabalho. Ficou top de mais mesmo. Agora imagina uma inteligência artificial avançada controlando isso?
Don’t get me wrong the models look phenomenal Triss and Yen in particular, but what makes the Witcher 3 face models ahead of its time, are definitely those little facial details blushes, eyeshadow, wrinkles, pores and pigments …
