  • It can't be done!
    I mean, it probably can. Let me tell you why I think you are better off not even trying it for the Astra Militarum Field Ordnance Battery by Games Workshop.

    No need to magnetize, bombast is only valid option 😂

      I just ordered a box for a my Krieg and I'm trying imagine how I'd justify points for a BS3 lascannon. The howitzers are going behind terrain with an officer and the other crap will be bits for other projects.

      HAHA! Yeah, I figured it was possible, but it looked like a huge pain. I wasn't feeling it and I thought it was kind of a big project for a beginner (that's who I usually make my videos for).

    You can easily magnetize them if you can life with two tiny holes that you can barely see if you use the rocket launcher setup.
    And the shields do friction fit wihtout any problem. Same goes for the connectors from cannons to chassis.
    Lascannon battery is also no problem, just plan space for it when posing the guardmen and dekoration.
    To be honest, this was no real problem (maybe I just have the manual dexterity and skill, whatever.). These were the second thing ever I magnetized and the box was like the second box of Warhammer models I ever build and I had more problems magnetizing the Leman Russ.

    • @YourAverageBearGaming
      @YourAverageBearGaming  Год назад +1

      Yeah, it certainly is possible. I spoke a bit about what challenges would have to be overcome to do it. I just didn't think it was worth the effort because to do it right we have to fit tiny magnets into very tight spaces and do a lot of them. In my opinion it would be beyond the skill level of most people. And the end result would have too many small magnets and small magnets are too weak to make handling the model a pleasant experience.
      But if you ever post a guide describing how you did it, I would love to watch it. Hopefully I could learn a few things =)

      Hoggy Waffle made a good video about magnetizing them.
      ruclips.net/video/iF6nryx3Etc/видео.html
      The only thing I would recommend doing differently would be to glue the magnets directly under the "sponsons" that connect the guns to the cassis and not to drop them into the hol, putting a drop of glue on them. This way you can easily glue the magnet into the hole on top of the magnet in the hole giving you plenty of new grey hairs.

      @YourAverageBearGaming  Год назад +1

      @@skyeranger Well it didn't look like he struggled much. The placement of the holes on the carriage for the dual-point pivot system looks finicky enough that I thin you need a pretty good skill level to drill that cleanly. And I don't like leaving exposed magnets on either the weapon or the carriage.
      But his approach works and it's a pretty good hold too. Maybe I'll try it after all.

    I've decided to simply glue these things in place forever. They're really fun mini-dioramas and to make them modular would undermine that too much.

    Yeah I wanna figure out some kind of kitbashing for the extra guns because magnetizing that looks like a nightmare

      I mean, it's absolutely possible. I think I saw someone post a RUclips video where they did it and it looked good. It just seemed finicky AF.
      My opinion: We're better off not doing it. Unless you're really good at it, or really enjoy this type of challenge. For the rest of us, nah.

    I had gotten the cadia stands box and when I got this I ran into the same problem. I built the chassis but yea I couldn’t figure out a way to magnetize. In the end I gave up build the arty and just aim it up to represent the arty and aim it straight to represent the heavy lasgun

    • @YourAverageBearGaming
      @YourAverageBearGaming  Год назад

      Looks like we came to the same conclusion. I went with the two bombards because I wanted to use these for indirect fire. If I get another box, I would go for the rocket launchers to hold objectives.

  • @cjgibbsey
    @cjgibbsey 6 месяцев назад +2

    Solution im coming up with is to magnetize the middle well that holds the rocket launcher base. That way i magnetize the bottom of the rocketlauncher and the bottom of the wheel that goes in that well on the lascannon and bombard. You lose the ability to move the lascannon and bombard up and down but i dont mind too much. then for the faceplate one magnet in the middle just to hold it push fitted into the slots.
    Biggest annoyance is the lascannon battery, magnetizing it to the base is easy but the cable connection is pretty flimsy

    • @YourAverageBearGaming
      @YourAverageBearGaming  6 месяцев назад

      Cable connections and ammo feeds are the bane of most magnetizing projects in 40k. Sometimes they are fine without a connection (they end up in the right place), but mostly they are a pain.

    • @cjgibbsey
      @cjgibbsey 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@YourAverageBearGaming yeah problem I'm having is lascannon piece when stored breaks on that flimsy connection.
      And I'm never adding magnets to cables again after fully magnetizing 6 centurions with options for assault and devastator

    finding a thin bit of metal that you can put on either the weapons or the frame might help reduce the amount of modifications, but this will make the connections not as strong

  • @AlucardTheReturn
    @AlucardTheReturn 7 месяцев назад +2

    I don't see the problem. Drill through the middel of the feet and just use a file and rasp it in the same hight.
    Magenice the guns, fit it with the feet, DONE. Magneticing the shield is easy.
    The only thing is at the end you smashing the model with a tone of magnets, also can just magnetice some parts and just dry fit it you will never see the difference from 3" away

      I'm having a tough time visualizing your approach. I didn't see an "easy" way of doing it. I know it is possible if you are willing to put in the work, but my videos tend to be geared towards a beginner audience. And honestly, I have more money than patience =)
