  • I was contacted by Joe, the owner of his late father's Speedmaster which was purchased new. The watch has a badly scratched crystal, and has been stored for considerable time.
Here I open the watch for the first time in many years, and I investigate if it has been opened since it was originally bought.
This will be the first in a series, focusing on this one owner watch and what I do to preserve the history, patina and integrity of a one owner watch.

These videos are such a resource. Even if you are not interested in speedys there is very little information out there on how to properly evaluate vintage watches.

Magnificent video. My Speedy 105.012 just finished its service. The folks at Grand Central Watch in NY serviced for me. Can’t wait to see. Keep up the amazing work 😀🕰️

Thank you very much for teaching us how to evaluate quality of vintage speedmaster. I'm chasing my first one and your comparison with exemples side by side are real added value to other extracts from books. It's key to judge if it worth the money.

Superb! Please do give your fans some notice when you decide to thin the herd a bit! Still keeping my powder dry for an early (before my DOT 69) speedy with Speedmaster101 heritage! Thank you very much.

Thanks for the great content and merry xmas William! Also a comment/question, I bought a 2021 Sapphire Sandwich brand new in May of that year. It's on rotation with my Tudor Pelagos. I store it carefully when not wearing it. I've noticed the dial of the speedy has already taken on a very slight chocolate appearance. While I might expect this 10 or 15 years from now, it's been a surprise for it to happen so soon, and I expect the colour will intensify further as the years pass. Have you every heard of such a thing? I must say when I get it serviced I'm inclined to find someone locally to do it rather than send back to Omega as they will likely replace the dial, even if I ask them not to!

i'd be interested to see you do a review of a speedmaster 3570.50. I don't own one but the bracelet on this one seems to look like the bracelet from the speedmaster reduced which I really prefer to the chunky speedmaster pro bracelets.

Another great video ! They are a brilliant reference guide for people like me hoping to buy a vintage speedy but not get robbed! How much does a lack of bracelet effect the value ?
I nearly bought a 14502269 DN90 last year.Dial and case were fair to excellent using your guide , but no bracelet.they were asking £7995, which I thought was way too expensive.

Just clean it up a little and keep it as is. It will be worth more like that than if it is polished.

That's the plan! If ever I polish, I only do it after I have cleaned and serviced it-and then live with it for a few months. It is very rare that I polish

Does the owner not take baths or showers? That is just disgusting.
