Other things you may not know: Those original long movie titles were similar to their previous spoof movie "Dont Be a Menace To South Central while Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" which spoofed all of those 90s hood movies. Even though the Waynans family left the Scary Movie franchise, Marlon Waynans did return to spoofing horror movies with "The Haunted House" movies, which is mostly based on Paranormal Activity.
A Classic that I wish had a sequel because there was so many more movies they could parody in “The Hood” genre that came out after “Don’t Be a Menace…”. Hell they only really only parodied up to “The Hood Films of 1993” because of when it was in production/released.

I'm actually old enough to remember seeing Airplane in the theater. I was like 8 and this was a huge old theatre that was sold out. My family had to sit up front because it was so full. I remember being impressed and taken aback by looking around at the entire theater laughing their butts off. Even my dad was rocking back and forth laughing. I'd never seen him like that and was very amazed . I don't think there'd really been a movie like that before for people to compare it to.

When Scary Movie first came out I was working my first job at the movies. I remember how well this movie did with the audience. I heard people laughing so loud each time it ran on the big screen. I definitely will never forget sneaking in with my coworker just to watch it. Great times back then. Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2 hands down the best of the series. I laugh more at number 2 just because the guy with the little hand and the the guy in the wheel chair 😂😂
Criticizing Scary Movie for being politically incorrect is completely missing the point. It's like criticizing Blazing Saddles for the same reason. It's meant to be offensive and vulgar, that's the point. As for the sequels, Scary Movie 2 is great but everything after that was a mistake. Black youth culture was a big part of those first 2 films but after that, the entire creative team was made up of middle aged white men. They did try by bringing in as many rapper cameos as physically possible, but it wasn't their world and they didn't understand it which is why they shifted the focus onto more by the numbers celebrity parodies.

I remember around the time Scary Movie 4 was coming to theaters, Comedy Central was televising Scary Movies 1 & 3 a lot. But not 2, Scary Movie 2 was the second movie of the series I've seen the least amount of times. Number one goes to 5, which I've only seen once in theaters
Australia had its own version of the "Wassup" commercial at the same time. It was a series of AAPT Smart chat commercials of everyone going "MAAAAAAAAATE!". It drove us crazy around cricket season. Lol. Those ads I believe are on RUclips.

Scary Movie and the sequel are amazing. Though they came out when I was a teen as well so definitely my generation. I like the 3rd and 4th one as well though they’re more hit or miss for sure.

Criticizing Scary Movie for being politically incorrect is completely missing the point. It's like criticizing Blazing Saddles for the same reason. It's meant to be offensive and vulgar, that's the point. As for the sequels, Scary Movie 2 is great but everything after that was a mistake. Black youth culture was a big part of those first 2 films but after that, the entire creative team was made up of middle aged white men. They did try by bringing in as many rapper cameos as physically possible, but it wasn't their world and they didn't understand it which is why they shifted the focus onto more by the numbers celebrity parodies.

I remember around the time Scary Movie 4 was coming to theaters, Comedy Central was televising Scary Movies 1 & 3 a lot. But not 2, Scary Movie 2 was the second movie of the series I've seen the least amount of times. Number one goes to 5, which I've only seen once in theaters

Awesome video Minty but the only thing you got wrong is the Wayne's brothers stepped down because the studio company wanted All creative control and they didn't want to give it to them. And because the studio owned most of the rights, they did what they wanted and pushed the wanes out.. 17:53

Scary Movie and the sequel are amazing. Though they came out when I was a teen as well so definitely my generation. I like the 3rd and 4th one as well though they’re more hit or miss for sure.
