As a Canadian who lives in Vancouver, I can tell you that production was no secret. I drove past the filming of the bridge sequence for a week, traffic was a pain in the butt, but Ryan's a local kid that was making sure there was work for us folk out there, so we cut them some slack. This sort of thing is kind of hard to keep a lid on, especially when you can see it from every building. Deadpool 2's scooter sequence was filmed across the street from my office so again, not much of a secret, but as a city used to this, we didn't rubberneck or get in the way ( but it was kind of cool to be that close to a location).
My neice worked at this expensive grocery store that was attached to this expensive hotel that a lot of famous people stay at. She told me that Ryan had come to the store, and so grabbed a basket of items to go back on the shelves, someone tried to take the basket from her, but she was like "I already have it." So she went an stalked him around the store. And then during that visit, she saw him talking to the deli meats guy for some meat. And she said that she went to talk with another employee and both of them were like "HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HIM!" I laughed at the story and told her to stop stalking famous people...but I feel I would have done the same. XD
Its so frustratining when studio execs are involved. I remember hearing back in the 80s, George Lucas. Steven Speilberg, etc made films THEY wanted to see. And those are some of the best films. Studio heads ruined Batman 3 because they wanted to sell toys. TMNT was ruined because they wanted to sell toys. Hell, some of the greatest songs on the radio had to fought by the band to play because studio heads "no one will want to hear that". Studio execs are so out of touch they are the reason their companies lose money.
I really hope they don't screw everything up with Deadpool 3 with the MCU crossover finally happening! But I don't think they will. As long as Ryan Reynolds is still involved with how the character is written and portrayed I think it'll be fine. He knows exactly how to play Deadpool
It is true. He's never called Deadpool in the movie. Same shtick, however. And he already has mutant powers for the most part (slicing bullets and whatnot) Making things all the more meta in a way. Modern DP has the luxury of poking fun at his previous iteration...which he of course, does.
I honestly can’t think of a reason not to absolutely adore Ryan Reynolds! If he isn’t one of the nicest, sweetest, most kindhearted people on the Planet, I don’t know who is!! And apart from the also amazing Nolan North- who lent his voice to The Merc with A Mouth in the 2015 video game- nobody comes close to embodying Deadpool the way Ryan does! Funny that they blew most of the movie budget on the opening action scene. That is why they made the joke at the ending action scene where Deadpool forgot to grab his guns because there was no money in the budget to have a big shoot out at the end.

I'm looking forward to the 3rd movie but I'm worried it's going to be very watered down because it's Disney now. I'm afraid that could ruin a character like Deadpool who is and should always be unhinged. Some comic buffs consider "unhinged" an actual type of hero or villain with specific abilities or personality traits that qualifies them as one of "the unhinged". Losing that quality would ruin Deadpool.
You did leave something out. The reason WHY X-Men Origins: Wolverine was so bad; was because of the writer's strike that was going on. Yeah; a writer's strike! During filming; the writer's guild went on strike; preventing any new scripts from being written. Some of Wade's lines were made up by Reynolds himself but weren't very good. You might even say; down right cringe-worthy. So, the final battle with Deadpool was changed, so Reynolds would have no lines. Thus, the design change of Deadpool not having a mouth. It was a 50/50 shot though so he really lucked out, if he was the leaker. Regardless, I'm glad it leaked and led to it being made as-is.

Never was a fan of Ryan Reynolds or Deadpool but after seeing this and what a nice guy he really is (visiting the sick child) and the trouble he went thru as a passion project I’m gonna watch it.
This movie got me so many envious glances in the theater. My wife was laughing her ass off, as one of the few women in the theater. I'm one of the few lucky men who married a woman with a healthy dose of unhealthy humour.
I remember an interviews with Ryan where he said that after playing Hannibal King a fan sent him a box of Deadpool comics with a letter saying that he basically played Deadpool in Blade 3. Deadpool is defiantly one of his best movies though I am worried about part 3.
Part of that was because Rob Liefeld could only draw incredibly bulked up male characters - without feet. Once other artists got their hands on both Cable and Deadpool, both characters were brought back to somewhat more humanly proportioned characters that could actually see their feet looking down their chest. Seriously, if you want to get a few laughs in, check out his splash page art. It is utterly ridiculous (and he never draws feet, they're always hidden or waaaaay back in perspective so really tiny).
so here's a question, since Hugh Jackman was mentioned in Deadpool 1 then signed a box of Hero Flakes with Hugh on it as well in Deadpool 2. Do you think even though Hugh is Wolverine in Deadpool 3, his actual name will somehow be used in the film or a reference to Hugh actually playing Wolverine in the films will be mentioned in Deadpool 3? (damn i hope i made sense)
Wolverine will be played straight, while DP will make 4th wall breaking comments about Jackman. Like DP calling Cable Thanos, and making Goonies references, etc...
Another great movie and another great movie review. There were moments that made you wince, but in the best way possible. Such a fun movie to watch because it doesn't take itself too seriously. You get a lot of comments on every movie you do, and there are a lot of movie that has a lot of fans. But if there was a movie that you'd want to watch with strangers... this would be it. Thanks. See ya.
Another fun fact about his creation is: they wrote him with the thought that he'd be a one-off and not have more issues, so they gave zero Fs and that's why he was as absurd as heck. Ironically, that made him popular enough to continue on.
"DEADPOOL" is a masterpiece & I absolutely positively LOVE how much respect Ryan Reynolds has for the source material ! Modern comic book superhero movie writers seriously need to learn that one of the essential keys to success is sticking closely to the source material which would be the comics (in this case) ! Starting with the costume ! Looking at you, Jeremy Renner's HAWKEYE and Hugh Jackman's WOLVERINE ! I'd better see Hugh wear Wolvie's trademark outfit AND iconic mask in "DEADPOOL 3" !
Deadpool had by far the best marketing campaign for any movie ever! It undoubtedly played a huge role in the movie's financial success. Marketing teams need to take lessons from what this film did. The first movie is probably one of my favorite comic book movies and really hope the 3rd one will be even better. One Minty note I was hoping to hear was that the comic book itself described Wade Wilson as "a cross between Ryan Reynolds and a shar-pei"...so Reynolds literally was perfect to play this role. I don't think there has ever been a role in history more perfect for an actor.
Deadpool.. who has his face on screen less than any character in any comic book universe.. even Batman gets more "Bruce Wayne" screen time.. hahahahah i love this movie, one of the best of all time... yes.. best.....
From what I've heard, the whole "no mouth" thing in Origins was because Reynolds himself just would not shut up about how badly they were mis-using the character, so the producers got rid of Deadpool's mouth purely to spite him. "Supposed to be The Merc with a Mouth, huh? Well..."
Awfully 'clickbaitey' title there, Minty. "10 things you didnt know about Deadpool", but its *really* about the Deadpool movie. Here I was hoping to maybe find out some cool info about the character, only to see things everybody already knows about a movie released 7 years ago. Sorry, bud. IMO, you missed the mark.
LMBO! I absolutely LOVED this movie in the theater, and the WHAM connection and love story were ACTUALLY what got my girlfriend to give it a chance. After she watched it with me, she admitted that she went to see it in the theater and walked out not long after it started because of the violence. She was glad that I got her to give it another try. Needless to say, her heart was broken by Deadpool 2 (which I hope you make a video for soon), but she still got me both the first Christmas 2 was available 😂 GREAT JOB ON THE VIDEO MINTY!!!!
It doesn't hurt that the movie co-stars Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, who is one of the most gorgeous women out there.

I would have to add Chris Evans as Captain America to that.
@georgejones3526 my second runner up was Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark aka Iron Man

Same here. Downey and Evans made the MCU what it was.
Deadpool.. who has his face on screen less than any character in any comic book universe.. even Batman gets more "Bruce Wayne" screen time.. hahahahah
i love this movie, one of the best of all time... yes.. best.....
I like when you call Professor X a Heaven Gate cult leader look alike.
I knew Minty was gonna pronounce somebody's name wrong. 😂 but yeah, Rob Liefeld may have "created" Deadpool but other people made him more popular.
😊 I appreciate these videos you put together Minty. Always interesting commentary and witty. Keep up the great work
From what I've heard, the whole "no mouth" thing in Origins was because Reynolds himself just would not shut up about how badly they were mis-using the character, so the producers got rid of Deadpool's mouth purely to spite him.
"Supposed to be The Merc with a Mouth, huh? Well..."
Marvel Vs Capcom was my introduction to him 🔥🔥🔥
That’s how I found out about Rocket Raccoon.
Crank movies need to be done
Ryan Reynolds is brilliant as Wade/Deadpool. 😀👍
Needless to say, her heart was broken by Deadpool 2 (which I hope you make a video for soon), but she still got me both the first Christmas 2 was available 😂
GREAT JOB ON THE VIDEO MINTY!!!!
I adored this film! Still do.
I just recently watched the movie, and it made me a fan of Deadpool now
I hate Marvel so much I might skip Deadpool unless a better studio makes it.
