When you spoke of foreshadowing for the third movie appearing in the second movie, you forgot the hot tub scene, in which Biff was watching Clint Eastwood using a piece of metal as a surprise bulletproof vest. Another detail left out, is that Doc's 2015 shirt with the "Steam engines and cowboys" eventually goes on to become his mask that he wears while stealing the train in BTTF 3. The colors are faded, but you can definitely still see the trains pattern.
My favorite line from this movie has to be when Doc says "A hundred years ago? That's THIS year!" Also, so glad you mentioned creepy Vern pointing to his junk. It really is one of those things you can't unsee.
I fondly remember the debut of III in the summer of 1990 - The theatre I was managing in SoCal ran the trilogy Back-to-Back-to-Back - 1,000 happy fans for the day watching Doc Brown and Marty's adventures. Good times!
I agree 100 percent. Regardless of your political leaning, I just enjoyed movies where it wasn't about women, race, rich vs poor, etc. These were just fun and exciting movies everyone could enjoy.
3 was my least favorite as a kid. But watching the trilogy almost every year, I've grown to appreciate it as much as the other parts. It aged very well.

@@aaronburratwood.6957 Good for You that you'll Enjoyed movies at 11 year's old, and I agree with you that there are A Lot of Great 90s film's from that year my 5 personal favorite 90s film's are Robert De Niro A Bronx Tale, Con Air, Wes Craven The People Under The Stair's, The Sandlot, & Only The Strong Great film's of the 90s.
The ending scenes with the truck race and the train tracks were filmed in my hometown of Oxnard, CA (well, technically the train tracks were in Port Hueneme) and of course I didnt find this out until after the fact.
I remember them making the two films back to back. When we watched the end of 2 in the cinema and we watched the précis of the third one it was amazing!
We used to visit Railtown in Jamestown CA. That train from the movie was EVERY train. It goes past the water tower from Petticoat Junction, f’rinstance. The seven-mile excursion went past the slowly weathering Hill Valley set, too (it never became a theme park). Then one time it was just gone. We were told "some kids fooling around" burned it down by accident.
One thing that always made me mad about BTF 3 was there were two DeLorens in 1885. Doc went back in one and Marty went back in one. They could have Used the two to get one working and be done with 1885
@Trevor Bryant Doc Brown had been in 1885 for 8 months when Marty showed up. 1. The gas in a fuel injection system will hold for quite awhile before it goes bad, because it it a closed system. 2. Marty with his time machine could have arrived in 1885 a week before doc brown went back or at the moment of his death. Even if docs DeLorean has fried electronics because of the electrical storm, Marty's only needs a fuel line and possibly, possibly some gas (the fuel pump would have prevented it from being siphoned).
Back to the Future the game on the PS3/4 actually acted as a Part 4 and was a well made game that was truly in the heart and love of the movie. If anyone wants to, you oughta check it out. Other than that, it don't need a reboot or remake, it's perfect as is.
To this day, the climax with the train still makes me wonder if they're going to make it. I've watched this trilogy probably 3,000 times since I was 3 years old, and it still has magic.
I agree that part 3 is for an older audience. I was 19 when the first movie came out. I seen parts 1 and 2 in the theater 7 times each but part 3 only once in the theater. Since then I have realized that part 3 is just as good as the other 2.
Anybody who says that the message of financial success= happiness was what the movie was pushing truly doesn’t get it. When George punches out biff he gains self confidence, that self confidence is what drives George as being a better husband/father, and leads him to being more successful in every aspect of his life thus being financially successful. The real message is to be confident and you’ll find success in your endeavors.
This movie was my fave of the 3, I had seen the 1st one many many times on repeat in TV, then when the 2nd came out my smaller brother friends took him to see it so missed it, when the 3rd came out I really wanted to see it, I made my parents take all my cousins to see it (i even end up paying for the tickets even tho I was 15) and yeah it was incredibly cinematic, I really enjoyed the experience. A few years later I had the opportunity to finally see part 2, AND I GOT INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED! For me felt very cheesy compared to 3 it was like a rehash of the first and 80s mumbo jumbo, and that one really feel like tv sets, I felt 3 was a lot more grounded and fresh. But I like them all 3.
In addition to the obvious Clint Eastwood references, there are quite a few nods to John Ford in this. 1). The brief use of Monument Valley (where all of his westerns were done) , 2) the Cavalry-Indian charge there (his Cavalry trilogy) , 3) the newly constructed courthouse dedication dance (My Darling Clementine with Henry Fonda where it was a newly constructed church frame) 4) Buford Tannen and his challenge to Marty (the Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Tannen even carried a whip), 5) the use of Ford character actor Harry Carey, Jr. seen sitting at the saloon with Pat Butram and Dub Taylor.
I loved how if you were bored and trapped in the past what you would create. High powered scope, refrigeration, working model railroad, multiple timed high combustion explosives. Then time train. 1990 was a great year.
So, a year or two after the third movie came out, some of the sets in Sonora were still there and you could go up and visit and walk around, which my parents took me to visit. Honestly, while from what I remembered of visiting; the abandoned sets were cool, but I probably would have gotten more out of it at the age i am now than i was then. Quick, to the Delorian!
I remember the wait for back to the future part 2. I was 5 when the first came out and I member watching it all the time on vhs and seeing the to be continued at the end and thinking hurry up!! 4 years then felt like 20 years. 🤣
just to point out this was not the 1st movie series to be shot back to back that started with 1970's three musketeers movie and then followed by superman 1 and 2
no need to worry about a reboot or further sequels, the 2 Bobs own the rights and have publicly stated that while they are alive, there will be no more Back to the Future movies
Your right. There should be no remakes to Back To The Future. Though it would be interesting to see what they would come up with for a sequel. There was talk about a Part 4 over the years but I don't think anything will come of it. As for remakes please no. They try to remake too much stuff now and it's getting really old. Try something new film makers it's not that hard.
I believe the boy who played Verne was mimicking the camera operators gesture to pull the camera forward on the dolly track as they had done several takes and he just copied it after seeing it done several times.
I think the thing about the main character of the franchise not being the main protagonist in any of the movies is also the case with the 80’s and 90’s batman movies. To me, the main protagonist in those movies isn’t even Batman or Bruce Wayne but rather the villains. The 1989 batman movie is the joker’s story, Batman Returns is Catwoman and The Penguin’s story, Batman Forever is The Riddler and Two-Face’s story and Batman and Robin is Mr Freeze and Poison Ivy’s story, well mostly mr freeze’s story since he’s the more sympathetic villain out of the two, despite all those ice puns.
Must say I really like the period sets from 70s and 80s movies; it looked like they were shooting a movie in a reenactment camp. Nowadays when they shoot a period movie, it feels like that they build them larger than they really would have been, or they take too many liberties with the props.
That's weird, right after the black & white still of crispen glover sitting on the ground is shown, there is a very brief clip of Minty saying "and number one" before it cuts to Minty saying "the movie would have benefited from".....etc. That must have been an editing mistake.
As for your plea at the end, Robert Zemeckis has said that there will be no reboots/remakes as long as he is still alive. So, let's hope he lives forever.
In talking about pop star cameos for part 2, you forgot about Flea, bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as the guy in the video call who persuades Old Marty to join in on the scheme, whatever it was.
Hmmmm...always wondered why Doc and Marty didn’t use the DMC DeLoreon that Doc originally entered into 1855 as spare parts, because when Marty went back to save Doc, 2 DeLoreons were in that present time. Doc’s time machine’s petrol tank and petrol were in tact and they could have reburied it back into the mine for Marty to find in 1955, but then Marty and 1955 Doc would have had to not only rebuild the broken part, but also replace the petrol tank and....I think I’ll stop now, I’m getting dizzy! As I said, there were 2 time machines in 1855 and it’s a major plot hole that is hard to overlook!
Aaaah ☝🏽 But what off the BTTF Animated series? Which followed the adventures of Doc Brown’s kids & occasionally Marty. I thought that was a pretty cool (kinda)sequel
I was disappointed when I first saw this movie when I was a kid. We had some cable service to order movies. I think it was called Prime Time. My dad ordered Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles which I was fortunate enough to see in the movie theater. Something went wrong with the movie when he ordered it and they gave us Back to the Future 3 in return. I thought Westerns were boring and I didn't enjoy the movie. My dad took me to see Tombstone a few years later which was the first R-Rated movie I ever saw. I gained a newfound respect for Westerns. We went to see Wyatt Earp a year later but I still wasn't really into Westerns. I started getting into Westerns in my 20s. Stuff like The Man With No Name Trilogy, Open Range, and books like Lonesome Dove and The Border Trilogy. Finally in my late 30s I watched all three Back To The Future movies and I was able to enjoy it a lot more.
The dark deleted scene really shows us the deep dark psychotic nature of the Tannon family. Of course it doesn’t bold well with the rest of the story. Being all happy and growing up the characters are, makes sense they would cut it. 😀
I always liked Part 2 a lot more than this movie, but I’ve come to appreciate the movie even though it is my least favourite entry. Ironically being the first movie to have Part 2 & 3 back to back, which was novel back in 1989, it took whole decade before any other film was filmed Back to Back with the Matrix sequels taking that honour in 2003. Although it’s common place now, back then it was quite unique although they did come close when the 3rd Die Hard movie was rumoured to be filmed back to back with the fourth entry back in 1994. That didn’t happen as they just released the 3rd movie solo in 1995.
i think Marty would still turn out great am sure he would have become the rock star he wanted but remember he knows whats going to happen at the sports game in 2015 he would have a great deal of money.
You didn't go over the cartoon that came out after the movie was in the box office. The cartoon wasn't very good but it picked up where the movie left off with Doc, Marty and his two sons going back into classical history.
Here's something that always bothered me about this movie. Casting Lea Thompson as Maggie McFly. I mean, Maggie was an ancestor of Marty's, but she was an ancestor on his dad's side of the family. So why would someone who looks like his mom be on his dad's side of the family? Yeah, I know they were required by law to do the thing where he wakes up and says "Where am I?" thinking he's with his mom, but still. That always bugged me. And am I thinking about this too much? Probably! 😃
Aw dude, don't jinx it. Hollyweird is devoid of new ideas. If any of the others are anything to go by, it would be race and gender swapping with a cringe laden PC take on the wild west.....what an absolute nightmare.
I actually wouldn't mind, as long as they told a whole new story with the same premise. Someone travelling from 2020 to 1990 would find the world as strange as Marty found 1955. If they did a "third movie visits the far past" thing, do the 1920s. A remake would have to find other characters than Doc and Marty, however. The originals had all the story they need, and it'd be sacrilege to try to expand on it or to do it again. Have the remake feature entirely new characters, who have to find a way to get back to the present from the past. That's the base premise, then have an absolute minimum of copying elements from the originals beyond that. No Doc, no Biff, no McFly, maybe not even a DeLorean. Just an adventure in time. Keep the name and the theme music, but apart from that, be original and creative. I'd watch that.
@@Codraroll and then Twitter would backlash that Reboot, i think its should be a young man stealing a Delorean and accidently go back to past and have to find out the one who makes time travel devices
Thankfully, Robert Zemeckis has always said he will block all attempts to make sequels to the trilogy. I think he said something along the lines of "not while I'm alive", so we should be safe. That said, after he's dead then he won't have the power to block any such attempts. I'd like to think that his wishes are honoured forever but that might end up to be wishful thinking. Note to Disney: Don't even _go_ there! You've got the rights to everything else, you don't _need_ the rights to this as well! You already rejected it before the first film was made so keep it that way! Leave it alone!
I've always considered Back to the Future to be a single movie, told in three acts that each have their own distinctive visual and thematic tone. Easily the best cinematic journey through time.
@@petersarubbi You rule! It's SO TRUE--if you pick up part 2 RIGHT when they blast into 2015 from when the DeLorean comes at the screen in the flash of light from the end of 1, then fade from Doc fainting at the end of 2 to him and Marty waking up in his house in 3 and take out all of the credits including 1 so that they're all saved for the end there's the whole thing!! If Zemeckis and Gale did that, maybe even putting the deleted scenes back in to make up for the time the credits would have been, and then re-released it in theaters I WOULD SO GO TO SEE IT!! Get my giant bag of popcorn and a few 2 liter bottles of Diet Coke and chill through all five hours and some! I did the math once, so tightly condensed it's about that long:)
Not only do you seem to know they have sequels in the future, but you also goofed and revealed mintys gender change to miny in 2032. Be careful fellow time traveler! Your slip ups can hurt all of us.
It's true that he put it on all of his contracts, but these agreements are only valid until his and Bob Gale's deaths and like they said, they are sure that when they'll be gone the studios will reboot it, but until then it's not going to happen.
@Shawn Tetlow I love that he did that! THAT is the mark of a true BOSS:) The only remake I'd be cool with is if he and Gale turned the trilogy EXACTLY as it is into animation, I don't know what tech it is that takes a movie and converts it into a cartoon but I don't doubt it's out there, JUST to see how it turns out. Marty would actually LOOK like a kid and the makeup and digital effects would look WAY better, I know that much!
It’s rare for movie sequels to be as good as the original, but Zemeckis pulled it off. I love ALL three movies.
Indiana Jones only other to come close.
yeah, but they're not really sequels.
it's 1 long 3-part movie actually.

Put the series in order of your favorites!!
Mine
I
III
II
Same here. I used place II above III but as I get older, I have become more fond of Part III warts and all.
Nicely done, Minty!
Just like Mary, Molly Ringwald turned down the role written for her in Pretty in Pink before being convinced to agree to it.
Can we get a 4k release?
Part 3 was the only one I actually saw in the theater.
doc's bandanna in part 3 was made from the trains shirt
5:50 I must have forgotten Lea Thompson was in it ( or someone who looks like her)
Love all of them 3 1 in my fav
I want that photo of marty and doc at the clock on a big poster at my gaming place.
You didn't go over the cartoon that came out after the movie was in the box office. The cartoon wasn't very good but it picked up where the movie left off with Doc, Marty and his two sons going back into classical history.
Would have been nice to include the cameo from a million ways to die in the west 😉😁
thought Minty already did this for some reason. This a reupload or nah?
Here's something that always bothered me about this movie. Casting Lea Thompson as Maggie McFly. I mean, Maggie was an ancestor of Marty's, but she was an ancestor on his dad's side of the family. So why would someone who looks like his mom be on his dad's side of the family? Yeah, I know they were required by law to do the thing where he wakes up and says "Where am I?" thinking he's with his mom, but still. That always bugged me. And am I thinking about this too much? Probably! 😃
This is one trilogy that must never be remade
Why can’t the British narrators ever fake American accents like their actors do?
@@jamesgotsulias4878 Dunno
I hope Disney never gets the rights to any of these. They will ruin it just like they did Star Wars
@Stefano Pavone Oh yeah, those greedy bastards want to gain control of everything. Can't stand them
@@fiskin13 Disney reminds me of the Borg....."You will be assimulated. Resistance is futile."
@@clarky23 Very true my friend. Sad but true
@@clarky23 ASSIMILATE THIS.....*BANG!!!!
I've always considered Back to the Future to be a single movie, told in three acts that each have their own distinctive visual and thematic tone. Easily the best cinematic journey through time.
Would love a edit where they play splice all three films together
@David Pumpkins Jr. Me too, exactly how you said it:) Best five hours watching a movie I'VE ever had!
It's absolutely one movie... I've always felt that way too😀
@@petersarubbi You rule!
That’s the best thing about being able to film back to back hey!
I'll never forget the way Doc and Clara look at each other when he saves her on the train. I want to feel that feeling at least once in my life.
Unironically wholesome.
i agree Miny, the Back to the Future sequels ARE perfect the way they are.
Not only do you seem to know they have sequels in the future, but you also goofed and revealed mintys gender change to miny in 2032. Be careful fellow time traveler! Your slip ups can hurt all of us.
No one can remake or reboot any Robert zemeckis films, he had it put into all of his contacts.
Let them reboot Used Cars heh, heh , 😁
It's true that he put it on all of his contracts, but these agreements are only valid until his and Bob Gale's deaths and like they said, they are sure that when they'll be gone the studios will reboot it, but until then it's not going to happen.
I hope they’re left alone.
As soon as Bob Gale's gone they will reboot Back to the Future and this time Marty will go back to the 80's!
Can’t forget that “Flea” from RHCP was in both part two and three. Small roles, but still a musician cameo.
Yes, he was!
Wasn't his mate Anthony in one as well?
Yeah like its a you weren't supposed to see him moment, pity the prick was in them
Needles
@@Vamptonius no but they are in the movie The Chase together with Charlie Sheen.
Hey Doc where you going, back to the future? Nope, already been there!
