GZA gets it. We stomp on the childrens creativity, and put literacy in place of it. What we need to is combine the two. Embrace the creativity, and use it to set forth a pace for their literacy.
This is why Wu is still one of my fav hip hop groups still. No other group has been as prolific as them and the success of members having tremendous careers as solo artists. Gza, you are one of the nicest MC's to ever pic up a mic. Wu Tang is for the babies!!!
Those youngins just received one of the greatest lessons in life & it came from one of the greatest emcees of our time! Every album this man has put out is a teaching tool! Salute to Allah Jus.....n the teachers for puttin it into existence! Priceless
Tyson is so NOT overrated. They are both great in their fields. Both respect each other. You should check out the interview Tyson did with Gza. Great interview.
For some children literacy IS their creativity. If these children in this video can't be literate (i.e. be able to read and communicate) then they won't be successful outside of a school that uses rap to teach science. Jobs don't do that. That being said, I do think this program will be great for this particular school.
Yes! This is what we need! To promote science means the result is going to be not only a scientific literate community, but comprehensive, responsible, independent, critical/free thinkers who will take humanity to the next level. Out with the illiterate conservatives running our governments who are interested in military budgets and making sure churches stay exempt. We NEED people who are aware of their fundamental connection with the Universe and appreciate life. I am so damn happy! Aaah! :D
real talk...some of those bars are better than anything Cole and Kendrick have said thus far. U know this to be true. "mother nature said anyone can get it" HARD! The first cat and the lady spit some cool stuff. I want rap to get intelligent again! Embrace intelligence! Wit! With passionate, experimental and beautiful beats! This is what made hip hop so interesting in the first place.
gza we love u, the world needs u! love to chris edmin a well, really working hard to bring it to the people... how fuckin admirable is THIS guy man, respect!
wu for the kids man!!! science just got more REAL!!! I hope this inspires kids to defend science instead of creationism, this is a great move for hip hop artists to make, we're all involved in this project of education... it's our only chance for the future... see Sam Harris. GZA 4eva!!!
I've been a music teacher all my life and what I see here is the absolute key to the future of education. Music teachers fight on a yearly basis for our jobs and relevance. I taught Haiku's using the pentatonic scale (all the black keys on the piano) and the students performed their poems while playing the piano. One of the most interesting and effective lessons I've taught. The response I received from my principal was "how are you going to assess their learning." CLUELESS!
beautiful, very inspirational. gza is down, thats a big deal, going to the bronx to reach out. seriously a great day for hip hop, the youth, the bronx and education.
This is a neat idea...for this school. Get them interested in science and show them how it can be interesting too. I don't think this should be applied everywhere, because not all students relate to rap and hip-hop . (Contrary to GZA's statement of never having met a kid who didn't listen to rap.)
hahahahaha poor gza at 4:10 the kids are like i dont give a fuck, and the legend gza is like man im gonna try and teach these kids, then at 4:29 he was like man what the fuck did i just say hahhahahahahahaha wu-tang 4 ever
Oh yeah, that seminal scientific experiment where they conclusively demonstrated that there is, indeed a higher power. What was it called again? Oh wait... You know what a great place is to teach a belief in higher power? Church! Too bad so few of those are around...

This is an amazing program. It's such a fantastic way for kids to learn.

"Is this life?" Best reaction! LOL!
This is awesome! This is how school should be on a daily basis. Education should be fun.
Tyson is so NOT overrated. They are both great in their fields. Both respect each other. You should check out the interview Tyson did with Gza. Great interview.

Awesome. We have to continue to foster "unconventional" ways of teaching. Learning is versatile and a a beautiful thing.
I would've loved seeing GZA rap with the kids on the same terms.
Theres actually hope for humanity.
