He talks about his grass like a proud dad talking about his childs athletic accomplishments and challenges, reflecting on the journey, hard work, and lessons learned. It hasn’t always been easy, there have been ups and downs, missed shots, and tough losses. But each setback has only made them stronger. Watching them push through challenges, pick themselves up after a fall, and keep trying no matter what. The dedication, the perseverance, the ability to learn from mistakes, those are the things that will take them far. It’s not just about the wins or losses, it's about the growth and the character they’re building along the way.

Used Black Beauty Ultra. It's a TTTF and KBG mix, it's just ok. It has a high weed/other crap percentage. There are so many TTTF cultivars now, many are LS (lateral spreading) so you don't need a KBG mix. Elite seed will have a zero weed/other crap percentage than cheaper seed (looking at you JG).

I'm looking for the top scorers in Kentucky blue and Perennial ryegrass seeds that have excellent dark dark green color, new improved disease resistance, drought resistance, early spring greenup, reduced Spring seed head development, cold tolerance and a blend that looks nice at a 4-inch cut. Vertically it seems a bit slower than others but laterally it fills in gaps much faster than most. The draw back is the color is not super dark, more in the middle of the pack. Also it's a bit hard to find in seed but readily available in sod is the Scotts Pro Vista Kentucky Blue Grass. It's perfect for what your looking for.

"Scott's Pro Vista Improved" . The "Improved" variety has a darker blue green than the regular Scott's Pro Vista. Both currently available in seed and Sod. This is a genetically-modified seed that grows at a much slower pace. A big drawback is that it requires patience, a lot of patience because it can take up to a year to fill in.

without knowing exactly what you bought and the conditions of your yard i cant say exactly. Kentucky bluegrass is a very tiny seed so it may be kentucky blue grass. the important thing to remember with Kentucky blue grass is its very slow to start growing. it can take up to 21 days to sprout out of the ground. which means you have to keep it moist for that long. failure to do so can result in unsatisfactory results. then once it has germinated it will seem like its not growing for another 3 weeks or so, stay relentless with your watering and you should get good results.

SS5000 is the SS1100 mix(Kentucky blue grass) with a bit of perennial rye and chewing's fescue mixed in. the rye will add some darker color and the the chewings will get you a smidge faster green up in the spring time. Other than that SS1000 is tall fescue so really its what you prefer for a lawn. shorter cut or taller cut. Also blue grass needs a bit more water than TTTF, but KBG stands up to foot traffic and repairs. I personally prefer a shorter cut lawn and you cant cut tall fescue short and expect it to like it.

I've overseeded with Scott's heavy traffic before and to tell you the truth, I have no idea if it really did anything or not. This year I'm doing a big reno and overseeding mainly with Barenbrug's Water Saver RTF tall fescue.
