its not cheap. Base will be atleast 40k, so probably more. Nissan themselves said this in regards to pricing. If you want an LSD which is needed with 400hp and a manual especially and all the other sport options, its going to add around 5k. Youre looking at atleast 45k for a car that does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. The lsd, sport suspension, big brakes, dual exhaust, exterior body kit, and luxury features all come in one singular trim called the performance trim and it will cost ateast 4k. 0-60 is 4.5 because nissan themselves said it would beat the outgoing models 0-60 time by 15 percent. the outgoing model has a 5.2 second 0-60 time. There you go, 4.5 seconds for atleast 45k. Just get the 3.0 non premium supra that will have every feature minus the heated seats and HUD for 3-5k more for a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds (3/4 of a second quicker then the Z.) Given the fact that the hp number is very similar yet way slower, you can logically conclude the Z will weigh more then the supra too which means it will most likely handle worse. Also fun tidbit, the supra has more HP then the Z. Toyota (BMW) RATES the engine at 382hp, yes but when the 2021s are strapped to a dyno stock, they typically make 388 hp to the WHEELS and 390 torque to the WHEELS. That means at the crank after drivetrain loss, HP is OVER 400hp, most likely 420. And torque? Most likely 430. The Z will make 400 hp and 350 torque. The supra when dynod stock beats these numbers. Do your research bud!
The concept ft-1 is based on Proto shorter platform. Therefore it had more muscular, better look. When they asked BMW to make it, they just realized the chassis from z4 is longer. So, the design is weird because Zupr4 had to be stretched longer, like remolding the playdoh. That's the "oh shit" moment from Toyota. Now they're paying the price
Plus there's nothing wrong with the Z34 chassis and suspension geometry. The only downside was the engine and badonkadonk styling, same with the Z33, so I'm glad they listened to enthusiasts and only made necessary changes. As far as the stock touring car handling, that's easy enough to fix with some Nismo or SPL bushings.
And on a video made by carwow, a drag race between the stock automatic 2jz supra beat the 4 cylinder supra. Imagine losing to an older car same model as you and it was a 4 speed auto.
3 things for me for the Zed. - Tidier design with a hint of retro - Manual gearbox - They didn't outsource the car to another manufacturer to do the hard work for them
While I understand the sentiment of not getting another manufacturer involved, the fundamental difference is that the new Zed is simply a redesign of the existing platform while the Supra was all-new. Toyota didn't, seemingly, have another option.
@@limewhite71 While I understand the point you are trying to make, the giant that is Toyota is surely capable of designing a car on their own. As good as the BMW base might be to drive, they have always been expensive to fix and hard to work on. The much taunted 'German engineering' is ofter over complicated and focused on a one-time assembly, not on how it might be worked on later. It's something that BMW might do well to learn from the Japanese manufacturers.
@@limewhite71 FT-1 is based on shorter Proto platform. That's why it looks better, muscular, proportional. When they sent it to BMW , they just realized z4 platform is longer. Therefore, they needed to Stretch the design the body longer. That's why Zupr4 looks weird ugly. It's the "oh shit" moment from Toyota.
@@lucky889s9 Looks are subjective I know but if you look at a Supra in person I think it will change things for you. Personally after I drove one my mind completely changed. Man especially the rear fenders...they're so well sculpted :) good memories
I prefer the simplicity and manual transmission. I've been driving stick for over 25 years and it's fun to shift your own gear and have control over your vehicle. For that, I'm definitely buying the Z.
you got the blank canvas right... the Z looks like the design artist spent about 5 minutes carving it out of a block template before they held their proposal meeting. Jokes aside, the Z does look good, it's just a bit bland for my taste. That said, there's a balance to be had in design effort and its always better to go minimal than overdo it. A lot of cars these days are going bland/minimalist. Considering Nissan is has a habit of circling around the toilet, this is an intelligent move on their part.
Three pedals sold it for me. “Paddles =Faster shifts on the track , blah, blah, blah...” I’m care zero as I’m not paid for lap times. Thanks for listening to drivers Nissan, y’all slapped this one wayyy out of the park. (Hopefully it lands in the Supra’s windshield 🤞🏽)
not even a question, z -400hp -twin turbo -6speed manual -better looks -no fake vents -cheaper base price at around 40k compared to the supra's 53k. essentially you get more car for the money and its just a way better purchase than the supra. of course if you prefer the supra's looks, go for it. but id say the z is 100 times better. not gonna bring up that the supra is built by bmw because doesnt really matter to me.
Supra base is 43k.... Just.. you know, you get the 2.0 instead of the 3.0. I agree, the Z looks is so much cleaner. Z4pra got too many lines going, definitely seem to be aimed at a younger crowd like the current Type R
You'd like this conversation with Nissan designer... there will be different power outputs between models. Maybe we see Z with more than 400hp ruclips.net/video/LmcYBFDkiD4/видео.html
@@flush_entity yeah i forgot the 2.0 supra existed LOL, but yeah its way better than the supra. i dont like how the supra is too chaotic and cluttered. love the z's retro-futurstic styling its going for. but funny that you can either get a twin turbo v6 with roughly 400hp and a stick shift... or a 250 hp inline 4 version of a supra with only an automatic.
@@aleczs6316 i love it, i also love the fact theres 240 of the Proto Z that will be sold too! Hopefully it drives well and Nissan keeps pumping out awesomness
I'm digging the blue Z. Getting Devil Z vibes from it. I love it. The Supra tries too hard to hide the fact that it's pretty much a BMW until you open the hood or get inside. Hell, i feel like BMW didn't let Toyota get their manual. Lol
@@touayaaj84 nah, dawg. Been a Toyota fanboy since forever. Owned a 1989 Supra and sold it to get an FRS when it came out. Then i traded the FRS for a new Avalon because i needed a daily driver and bought an RCF. Most i do on my weekend cars is just a light drop, wheels and exhaust. Test drove the new Supra and immediately hated the interior. Opened the hood and i get right away i was slapped by all the BMW parts and the fake vents make the car look ricey. It drives great. BMW makes great cars but this fanboy just couldn't handle the really heavy side of the German car. Sorry.
After owning the Supra for about half a year despite the fake vents (which I swapped out in my RUclips Shorts, but the door one I doubt can become functional), it definitely has a road presence and a lot of people ask about it and compliment it. Non-car people are shocked it's something designed by Toyota and immediately compare it to a Corvette. Car people also respect it and don't hate on it for BMW. I often catch people staring at it or walking up to it when it's parked. There's no car out there that looks like it and a lot of people assume it's some $100k-$200k exotic always asking me what I do for a living. I do like the Z's retro modern styling since the S30 Z is one of my all time favorite cars but it is a safe approach from Nissan. The whole car is with the shared platform and it still at least gives customers what they want. As Sketch Monkey says, at least we do get new sports in cars in an age of SUVs/EVs. The competition is great for us customers. People forget that car enthusiasts make up a very small portion of the whole market.
My 90 z32 got tons of attention ppl would stare at it all the time and ask what kind of car it is.. Your supra isn't the only sub 100k car that draws a lot of attention man lol im sure the new Z will get the same kind of attention your car gets
Exactly, in person it looks great and driving it is quite fun. Hope to buy a Supra a year or two from now. Drove one through Turo and I fell in love. Good on Nissan for creating a new car and I like how it looks kinda retro-wavy.
I've owned 2 early 70s 240s, a 75 280, an 85 Supra (loved that wedge shape at the time) and an 88 Supra Turbo and came so close in 94 to buying the new Supra. Both cars have held a special place in my car life. This choice isn't even close. The new Z car wins this one by a mile. I'm sure the new Supra is a fantastic driving car, but it's hideous to look at in my opinion. This new Z could very well find a spot in my garage.
I feel like the the Nissan Z is everything we wanted in a Japanese coupe, the design is pretty simple for a modern car which is good because it still looks modern. I really hate the grille though, but as everyone has been saying it's just another incentive for companies to start making aftermarket parts once this car is actually on the streets
This new Z is a hit….. people love it, almost universally. I saw a poll and it had like 5000 participants and the Z was winning like 87% to 13% for the Bupra
Fair points, for me it’s the supra any day because: Zf auto is brilliant - lightning fast in sport, butter smooth in comfort granting desirable everyday usability. B58 smooth but aggressive power delivery Some very well executed adaptive dampers Solid driving dynamics (likely will be superior to 400z) Better infotainment system Better interior styling Stunning stock exhaust sound (can’t comment on 400z in this regard just yet) Much better styling (personal preference) - more contemporary iteration of its predecessor that’s modern while still referencing linage.
@@Luminary2024 stunning stock exhaust? You deaf as well? we already know your blind. Soon you'll be telling everyone how good the civic type-r looks. Like you said....personal preference. @@subiesnacks8446 throw your playground insults all you want, I stand by what I said. The supra design language is a contemporary spin on the original and the b58 sounds good stock - amongst the better sounding modern turbo 6 cylinders out there. The moment I saw the new Z, the futuristic geometric yet retro classic style of Z spoke to me. It reminded me so much of the old school madeup cars in 90s anime. I just can't decide if I want manual or automatic. But even the interior of the Z is better and has character. Can't wait to see what 3rd party manufacturers create for custom body kits.
@@alexmatiychenco278 Except if you have single clutch auto like the Lexus LFA or Lamborghini doesn't quite feel mechanical and afaik the new Nissan Z comes with mechanical LSD
I see so many people talking about manual transmissions like a significant factor, but sales numbers do not lie. The number of manual sports cars sold is such a tiny amount in comparison. If a manual was such a critical component for an enthusiast car, more would be sold. It just doesn’t make sense to me, so many people say they want a manual but not many people actually buy them.
This is true but the automakers could also make limited amounts of manuals for the real die hard enthusiasts. But im one of those who would still buy a Auto ZF 8 speed supra over a manual supra. With tht great of an auto trans, i freken love it when i drove it, overall ZF and DCT is great for cruising and dailying.
That’s because a lot of people don’t know how to drive a manual these days, but want one at the same time, but are to lazy to learn how to. For the small percentage of people that are die hard manual fans like myself and know how to drive a manual properly, will not hesitate to buy the Z in a manual only.
Most wives, and or girlfriends, can't drive stick. Many young guys today can't drive stick either. PS , I think having a manual adds another layer of theft security.

"The issue with the Supra is that it didn't come out built on a new Toyota platform as a $100,000+ supercar that none of the target demographic could afford." Fixed.
@@sly9263 I think they meant what they said originally. The Supra is far less impressive than the FT-1. The platform it's built on doesn't help the case, but at the end of the day the car just doesn't at all suit the nameplate of Supra. People don't care that a lot of the 400z recycles a lot of the 370z to keep costs down, because the car pays obvious homage to it's roots.
@@MuShinnen the platform's country of origin is the only reason that the car has really received any negativity. It has far less to do with the pipedream that the FT1 concept was. The FT1 would be awesome to see one day, but it'd be NSX/GTR pricing, which is not the Supra demographic. Oftentimes the most negative people are the loudest about their opinions (on the internet), but the Supra gets as much attention on the road as an exotic/supercar. Realistically, its just negative people hung up on intangible complaints over logic, which is why its pretty much unanimously praised among all objective car reviewers.
@@sly9263 It's literally not the only reason though. The comment section of this very video even points out several very valid reasons the new Supra is not a car some people desire. The new Supra isn't the supra demographic either as most die hard supra fans won't buy one for reasons already presented. I think you're overselling the Supra's presence a bit here. If I sit a Supra next to something like an Audi R8, a Honda NSX, Ferrari Roma, or a Lamborghini Aventador, the crowd isn't going to pool evenly to the Supra. It's very strange that you point out logic while also ignoring the logic of those complaining about the car. Nobody said the car was bad. They said it isn't a good Supra, and they are right. It is a great car performance wise, it's just not a Supra in the ways that matter. I won't argue looks as that's purely subjective.
The Z will sell like vw buggies did in the early 2000s. Everyone will want one. Ill be saving for it & may even sell one of the few cars I have now to help get my hands on it if I have to. After the final concept I'm pumped for it. & I hope all of these JDM sports cars coming back will make the classics more affordable again. Id still like a 300zx eventually.
Yup. It gives you an open diff, cloth interior, tiny brakes, less torque, 18 year old platform, smaller wheels with narrower tires. More for your money indeed 🤣
@@dannyd7714 you really bashing the Z for having smaller wheels!? Manual and more hp, no fake vents is giving me more for my money buddy. Supra is good looking and great performance as well but Nissan did a better job and we must admit that.

Both are great looking in my opinion. My initial thoughts are that the Z with manual is where my money would go even though I think the Supra will probably be faster and give better handling.
When I was in high school, or, as we call it here in Europe, secondary school, my dream car was 300ZX. Completely beyond reach of course, in 1990s. With this new Z, it was great to rediscover the history of the model. 240s are beautiful too, and the 240Z is a classic. But this one... I could not afford 300ZX, but I MIGHT be able to afford this one. Hands down over Supra.
Toyota Supra MK4 was always just a fanboy car. You need to modify it like hell to make it look good. Meanwhile at stock, it's slow, it's an ugly car. And just like the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Skyline R34 GTR, only grew inpopularity due to Fast and Furious. 12 year olds and F&F fanboys are the only ones that have it up on a pedestal.
I have the Supra already but will be passing it onto my wife when the new Z comes out. Really hyped for it! What a time to be alive! Type R, new Integra, new WRX/STI, GR86, Supra, and Z!? Did I miss one? The Japanese sports cars are BACK BABY!
I don't think there's a new WRX/STI. Google shows that they'll leave it unchanged next year..? But yeah, it's great to see these legends make a comeback
Totally agree with all the fake vents and cartoonish rear bulge on the Supra make it look over styled as if was styled by a 10th grader. The Z only styling mistake is the vertical crease in front of the front wheels; the rest is true to the 240, 260 and 280 of the 70s.
If I have money I will actually buy a supra over the Z, I like Nissan’s idea of having the Z back. I love how the supra looks and have curves and the design is accully some there then the Z
I wonder how many people shouting manual here would actually go out and buy a 400z manual brand new. It’s like everyone shouts manual yet numbers say otherwise.
i was hesitant to get the supra because it didn't have a Manual transmission. Glad I waited for the new Z in one to two years its going to be in my garage.
I've never been a toyota guy but the supru looks very nice . With that said , I've owned the 350 and the 370 z loved those but this new Z I'm a huge fan of . Very beautiful and classy . I can't wait to get mine in the spring !!!
Z, no question about it, and thats even before any driving reviews. Why? Well, other than being a former '78 Datsun 280Z owner, this is Nissan's halo car to most of the world, especially the parts that never got the original Skyline GTR (and yes, I know a somewhat modern version of that exists in the US and has for some time now) and they cant afford to get it wrong...or not quickly correct it if they do. Just going by the exterior (which is retro done right imo) and interior, they've done a great job of paying homage to past generations without going cartoonish overboard with it. I especially like the two katana blades just above the doorline, and the 90's twin turbo style taillights. The Supra? I mean I'm sure it's great to drive, but there is far too much BMW about that car for people like myself who are fans of Japanese cars. That may be fine for some people, but I simply cant get past it.
Among the very valid reasons people will get the Z over the supra, The Z will start priced under the 4 cylinder supra. Nissan is set to sell a ton of these because how low they were able to get the MSRP.
I used to drive a 280zx as a daily and those body lines hearkening back to the original Z cars and the 6 speed manual has me. I hate the fake vents, body lines going all over for no reason, etc. The Z definitely is more classic, and for those that do want to mod the car its a cleaner platform for that. Z for me :)
The Supra kept going back to committee for more styling. "More flender flair! Curves and gashes. Fake air vents? Hell yes! And make the nose stick out… could help in 1/4mile photo finish…" Meanwhile, Nissan designer hands in first draft... Boss: Less Designer: But the front grill… Boss: Did I say something?
Honestly, I'm still occupied & satisfied with my 2015 blk & red 370z nismo. Six yrs later, My Z still has it's nisMOJO and gets compliments to this day.
Its simple.. if you don't know how to shift your own gears and have lots more cash.. get the Supra. If you are a driving enthusiast that wants to shift your own gears, is into JDM cars, all while paying less.. then choose the new Z.
Drives great but it's an automatic.. there's just no satisfaction driving an auto. I'll take rowing through gears over slightly better handling and speed.

i am not a fan of the butchered FT-1 but the Z doesn't look good, not as a whole at least, the rear and side profiles are great, but that front is ruined by the front grill, the lines just don't seem to work well with the rest of the car
I like how reviewers and car "experts" they will pick the Z over design or its cheaper but notice that they never say it's a better car because its not.
I'd pick the Z! Nissan did an outstanding job of blending iconic styling from past models and giving it a modern interpretation. When I see the front of the Z it instantly evokes the 240Z. The back evokes the 300Z and the side profile somehow manages to recall the 280ZX and the 370Z at the same time. I think the 5th gen supra is fugly! Second, third, and fourth gen Supras had nice styling for their time, but the styling queues in the Z are classic and timeless.
My paramount priorities in a sports car are; Manual Transmission Mechanical LSD Strong Engine Solid Chassis Engineering Style The Toyota hits 3 out of 5 for my top 5, however it’s the bottom 3. MT and LSD are a must when I buy a sports car.
@@2010ngojo that’s what I mean, mechanical lsd, not tricks from the Ecu and abs system to control the wheel speed. Trust me, I have a Q50 Redsport, it works but it is not a true LSD.
I'm getting the new Z. But I'll wait for the inevitable Nismo version. The only thing I don't like is the digital clusters and electric steering. But that's not enough to turn away my decision as it has the 3rd pedal and twin turbos.
I'd go with the supra because I just don't like the sound of vr or vq engines and the 400z really have the body shape of the 370/350z which I'm not a fan of, I personally prefer the long hood of the 240z, but I'm still glad that they ditched the bubbly looks of 370 and 350
Well done and nicely articulated. I agree with everything you said - especially at the end of the video where you talked about 'looks vs driving'. I own a 2020 370z (Pearl Blue) and the primary reason I purchased it was for the looks. A work of art in my opinion. Thanks!
Supra was originally designed to compete GTR, but with new Supra it seems Toyota has finally accepted defeat. All new Z compared to Supra seems more mature, subtle, and by keeping manual transmission is a better choice for car enthusiasts.
I just don't get Toyota. If that's the case, why not putting their own engine. They already have 3.5 v6 supercharged in Mark X. Or even that V35A-FTS twin turbos from LS 500. That's 415hp easy. But they gave up their reliability to BMW... Smh, damn you Toyota for even putting Supra name just for cash grab!
@@lucky889s9 my guess is they got the main selling points of the supra completely wrong, i bet inline 6 was at the top along with "looks like the ft-1" and because they don't make any inline 6 anymore and the couldn't be bothered they went with the bmw, i dont think a supra would do well with a v6, they just dont sound good, but something like a v8 would be just fine. either way the supra name deserved better.

Yeah, if I get it I'd definitely try to make or buy a new bumper. The grill just looks too bland for me, I bet it would help if the grill was painted fully black though instead of with that chrome tip.
Literally the only flaw for me with the z is the blank front end. Like at least throw some badass fogs on there or you know if Nissan wanted to be an ultra big pimp functional heat extractors on the hood and real brake cooling ducts
There is something a bit off on the Z headlight design. I think I’d have preferred a more direct reproduction of the 240 lights. The DRLs don’t invoke the circular look enough. Maybe they do in person.
I would prefer the original Toyota FT-1 concept brought to life. Toyota themselves said the current Supra is a compromise due to the constraints of the BMW platform.
The fake vents are wind tunnel tested to be functional but making then functional would cost money, assuming the door vent isn't functional when opened but not sure. When they were talking with the designer he said it was tunable areo. You can open and close certain ones off the bat if you choose to do so varying downforce and drag.
Supra is 90% BMW with no Soul of a ... well Supra. Huge loss. Z has heritage, and you can feel the soul and the generation of pride put into this one. The Z at its core, is 100% Japanese. Z is the easy winner.
Z all the way. Of course I am bias because I still own my 1970 240Z and a 2005 350Z. I like the classic old school yet modern look of the new Z. And it has more than enough power to be a fun car to drive. Keep up the great reviews.
Agree with most said, however the 2+2 model Z shown was a base model. The turbo is what compares to the Mark 4 Supra with the wing. The turbo looks MUCH better than the weird stretched version. Show those pictures back to back and you have a more realistic styling comparison. The new Supra is overstyled and a bit ugly. The rear isn't bad nor the bubble roof, but everything else is downright ugly
If the new Supra is overstyled and a bit ugly then the Z is understyled and bland; it looks just like a dozen other cars with 5 minutes of effort spent in autocad. The Z isn't a bad looking car, it's just very simple and bland. Some people like that, some people don't. I can tell you that I get far more attention and questions in the MK5 Supra than I did in my C7 Z06 or in my GTR
The Z has always held a soft spot in my heart. The Supra, not so much. Especially this one since the Supra is a BMW….and doesn’t have a manual gearbox. That being said, Z all the way.
Only thing I dislike about the Z is the square grill on the front bumper, that's it. The rest is alright and the back is great. Exited to see what aftermarket front bumpers look like. I would take the 300zx over the Supra btw. I would take the 300zx over any other Z car as well.
I know its all opinion, but people saying the z is 'sharp', 'not as natrual', too bland' just doesnt make sense to me, the supra is just getting too much clout.
If your approaching both cars strictly from an aftermarket perspective and expect to tune and chase power... the VR30 is open deck, the B58 is closed deck, there is nothing more to say on which is superior. If Nissan ever gets around to adding an option to include the VR38 closed deck out of the GTR then I would say the Z has as legitimate chance of beating a Supra when it comes to engine strength and power potential, until then it will be an expensive and weak engine. I am a Z fan for what its worth and had a high HP built Z but I have to call a spade a spade here.
At the end of the day like anything in life, is up to personal preference and whichever you choose is ok. In my case, most of the time I choose looks, so personally I prefer the Nissan look over the Toyota. So I'd pick the Z.

The Supra is a BMW Z4 and they had to strech the exterior design over the chassis points of the Z4 and its architecture so the design oddities probably stem from that.
Yeah that's it. They created a beautiful design (FT-1) for the wrong platform. They knew they had to use the Z4 as a base, so they should've created a design bespoke for it instead of adopting a well received concept. O
And Toyota didn't think about this in the first place? Should've have named it Supra, just obvious cash grab. Just wait until it's out of warranty, then the BMW real problems on durability and reliability Will show up..
I recently test drove the 2021 Supra 2.0. Let me tell you. I was very very impressed. It was very quick and very responsive. And in person it looked amazing and attractive. I was skeptical at 1st. BMW and Toyota came together and built a very fun sports car. I can’t wait to test drive the new Z. I haven’t been a fan of the Z for a Long time. So I’m interested in seeing it 1st hand before giving my comparison report.
-6 speed manual gearbox
-much cheap
-more powerfull
-no fake vents
-not a bmw
-a true japanese
love it man
-Not bmw
At least the vents can be made functional, if necessary. Which was the point of the design
But it’s not meme material LOL
its not cheap.
The Supra is over designed like most cars these days. The Z shows restraint in its design which will is classy imo.
Yes. Thank you.

The 400hp Nissan Z is priced lower than the 4cyl Supra. Choice is easy.

So true on point pure Z not a hybrid BMW Toyo
While I understand the sentiment of not getting another manufacturer involved, the fundamental difference is that the new Zed is simply a redesign of the existing platform while the Supra was all-new. Toyota didn't, seemingly, have another option.
@@limewhite71
While I understand the point you are trying to make, the giant that is Toyota is surely capable of designing a car on their own.
It’s mostly influencers who say that because they’re purists. Your average person looking for a sports car likely isn’t a purist.

Given the chassis they started with, Toyota should have started with a clean sheet, maybe made a modern tribute to the GT 3000.
Among the very valid reasons people will get the Z over the supra, The Z will start priced under the 4 cylinder supra. Nissan is set to sell a ton of these because how low they were able to get the MSRP.

My paramount priorities in a sports car are;
Manual Transmission
Mechanical LSD
Strong Engine
Solid Chassis Engineering
Style
The Toyota hits 3 out of 5 for my top 5, however it’s the bottom 3. MT and LSD are a must when I buy a sports car.
Mechanical lsd? I mean what other lsd is there for a car? Some are just controlled electronically. At least it's not torque vectoring by braking.
@@2010ngojo that’s what I mean, mechanical lsd, not tricks from the Ecu and abs system to control the wheel speed. Trust me, I have a Q50 Redsport, it works but it is not a true LSD.
@@LifebyDesign electronically controlled lsd is not a mechanical lsd.
I'm getting the new Z. But I'll wait for the inevitable Nismo version. The only thing I don't like is the digital clusters and electric steering. But that's not enough to turn away my decision as it has the 3rd pedal and twin turbos.
supra spits on heritage just like the new e-mustang. Z honors it.
A true Japanese legend… Death before Dishonor and Nissan Honors that with like a Samurai warrior! RESPECT!
Over design Exterior is a problem like the supra, I take the Z! The Z makes me feel simple, agile, nimble, fighter, and love!
@@lucky889s9 my guess is they got the main selling points of the supra completely wrong, i bet inline 6 was at the top along with "looks like the ft-1"
and because they don't make any inline 6 anymore and the couldn't be bothered they went with the bmw,
i dont think a supra would do well with a v6, they just dont sound good, but something like a v8 would be just fine.
either way the supra name deserved better.
@@cj09beira if the aim was GTR which was V6 TT. Why not? if they don't want to make i6 anymore. Like i said, wait until that Zupr4 is out of warranty, then BMW true color Will show up: inspection light, leaking of all sort, $750 for new fuel gauge, etc. Not to mention the rattles here and there. I'll take Toyota's v6 and electronics than BMWs i6 anyday.
I want to like the Z but there’s nothing about the front end that looks good to me. I do love the rear though
Yeah, if I get it I'd definitely try to make or buy a new bumper. The grill just looks too bland for me, I bet it would help if the grill was painted fully black though instead of with that chrome tip.
I agree. Terrible front end design.
From the first that I saw the Supra I thought “turd with with extra corn”. Way too many organic lumps and bumps with fake vents on top of that. Fail!
Supra looks like supercar and Nissan looks like classic car.
I personally love the looks of supra, it looks extremely beautiful in the road
Everything about the design of the 400Z is perfect except that it looks like shocked pikachu
it's straight up ugly
@@auralplex Nope.
Whats the reason for the second channel? I never realised you had a second channel.
Literally the only flaw for me with the z is the blank front end. Like at least throw some badass fogs on there or you know if Nissan wanted to be an ultra big pimp functional heat extractors on the hood and real brake cooling ducts
Look at the 350 and 370z they were pretty much blank front ends as well. It's better that way.
Wrong
Which would you buy between gr86 and the Z
Z has a manual transmission. That's all I need to know. Z it is.
The fake vents are wind tunnel tested to be functional but making then functional would cost money, assuming the door vent isn't functional when opened but not sure. When they were talking with the designer he said it was tunable areo. You can open and close certain ones off the bat if you choose to do so varying downforce and drag.
It’s a hard choice, but personally I’d go for a supra, and yes i know it’s a bmw, and ill take it in black or grey with the heritage kit
Supra is 90% BMW with no Soul of a ... well Supra. Huge loss.
Z has heritage, and you can feel the soul and the generation of pride put into this one. The Z at its core, is 100% Japanese. Z is the easy winner.
400z > mk5 supra, any day of the week.
@@sly9263 lies!
Can anyone help me figure out how to convince my wife I need to trade my 2019 Tacoma for the new Z?
The cool thing about the Z is, like the Supra, you’ll be able to add 50-75 hp with just a tune, over 100 with down pipes, exhaust, and intake.
Front intake is made for a massive intercooler. I love the way Nissan think.
They both look great but I like the looks on gr Supra a little bit more
I would get the Nissan because of the things you mention, but especially because of that Blue Interior 😍😍🥰🥰
The Z has always held a soft spot in my heart. The Supra, not so much. Especially this one since the Supra is a BMW….and doesn’t have a manual gearbox.
That being said, Z all the way.
I’ve owned a 1973 240z and 1980 280zx. I’m going for the new Z car.
I can't wait to see the Z on the road! My mom had a 350 and I had a 370. Eventually I had to sell it because of kids but I love the Z lineage. 👍
Uh. The one with the manual, more power, and over 10k cheaper? Is this a real choice?
The Nissan Z hands down. The Nissan Z is pure japanese engineering down to the core. The Supra is based on the BMW Z4.
At the end of the day like anything in life, is up to personal preference and whichever you choose is ok.
In my case, most of the time I choose looks, so personally I prefer the Nissan look over the Toyota. So I'd pick the Z.
Even though I'm more interested in the Nissan Z, the Supra looks better to me....... Nice content........ Also one last thing... Yeah it is a legend, but the Mark IV Supra has always looked wonky.... the 90's 300 ZX is one of the best looking cars ever.......
You must be a special kind of stupid if you think the new Zupra looks good and the MKIV doesn't. The MKIV is probably one of the few 90s cars that doesn't look outdated.
@@X50505 I agree with you on your last comment, the MKIV can't look outdated. How can it look outdated when it arrived in the 90's looking dated? You also probably liked the 1st generation Ford Taurus when it came out in the mid 80's. ROFL....
@@thegooddoctor6719 Anyone who says the Supra looked dated in the 90s needs their head checked.
Find one car pre-1990s car that looked like a Supra. Go on. Most cars in 1993 still had that 80s square jagged bodyline. The Supra was one of the few cars with curved styling that didn't even come into full effect in other cars until the 2000s and it lasts in cars till this day. Except many cars today have horrible fake aero added to them.
@@X50505 OK Mr. car king, Exactly what kind of car are you driving now? What exactly what does a car designer such as yourself drive? Hopefully its not your parents car....... ROFL
@@thegooddoctor6719 Ok, so you're not able to name a pre 1990s car that looked like a MKIV Supra. Nor are you able to stay on topic it seems. Rather you seem to be suddenly very interested in what car I drive.
Let's say there's only one car being talked about here and one of us probably knows it a lot better than the other.
If I had the $$$ I would go with the Nissan Z any day of the week. Unlike many others, I enjoy stick shift. Plus I wanna see what the Nissan Z Nismo will look like and horsepower it will give out
The Supra is a BMW Z4 and they had to strech the exterior design over the chassis points of the Z4 and its architecture so the design oddities probably stem from that.
I would have a manual orange supra when it comes out and a blue manual 400z. 😎
The Z does look better and I would buy the Z, but I do love the rear view of the Supra.
performance 6 spd, but should I wait for drop top to share garage with coupe? Color, only one choice but blue, red, rosewood, which way to go
Nissan Z! Easy pick!
