I really don't think Toyota intended to release the Supra with a manual, every company would design the centerconsole appropriately to accommodate both an automatic and a manual to reduce costs. Toyota completely redesigning the center console shows that their plans changed late, likely due to the manual competition (Z) and backlash, I wouldn't be surprised if pricing changes to recover costs
Back when bmw and toyota were testing the Z4 and supra, they had a manual transmission that was tested alongside the auto. I want a Toyota gearbox, and I want a Toyota interior. This is really just an insult to the Supra cultists. I'll stick with the Z, at least it is pure.
I am not going to take a dump on this. But for long term Supra fans and collectors, the only way they would be interested in this is if someone would pull a J2Z engine swap on it.
For a European guy like me, the choice is obvious - I'd take the Supra because the Z isn't sold here (it can be imported, but the process is a pain in the ass).
Oh my god, they really added the correct transmission? I came here to trash talk them for making it automatic only. Good for them. (still silly to not put it in the smaller engine model if they already designed the car for it)
Couldn’t wait and ended up buying a 22 2ss 1le Camaro with manual transmission. I might trade it in for a Supra manual but i want to test drive it first.
I personally would've took away the electronic e-brake switch and added a manual pull lever for a slicker and thinner look for the center console. Also, just for nostalgia, replace the damn start button for a manual turn key. If you're going for manual then go all the way!! Just for some added spice, toss in the removable top too. Now that will sell!

The manual transmission is Toyota's "answer" to the manual Nissan (400) Z...😏 I still think, the Z is much better!😎👍
Yessirrr
thing is , you're paying for a 2009 chassis with the Z. Should of been priced 10k less for that
It might be better for you, but on paper, track and in terms of performance in general the Z has nothing to do to keep up with the Supra, is just the same shit than the 350z with twin turbos, screens and a different design that looks cool, also I think the supra is prettier. But they both are such an amazing machines
@@pablonavaridas3302 yeah I agree 100% ! I still love the Z but I wish they priced it cheaper . Both fully loaded are 51k compared to the 54k supra so it makes more sense to buy the base Z a for 41k . Thing is the base Z has no locking rear diff. So for 47k , to me is to much considering the Z is based on the 09 chassis which is based off the 03 350z chassis . While the supra is a new chassis
@@cornholioyo725 it’s $40k with a 6cyl TT engine and classic retro design. A 6cyl T Supra is $54k. Nissan priced it just fine.
The 2.0 Supra shouldn't exist. That new gray looks great and love the fact the MT Supra badge is red!
It's quite disappointing how nobody talks about the much more improved pedals in the manual supra
that texture in the front in 3:25 is probably to attach a placque holder thing or something like that
The vents arent fake, you can remove them if you want to. It was even advertised by Toyota
anyone know why the 2.0 doesn’t get the manual
yes I work at toyota and I am here to tell you that it wouldn't do gooder you're very welcome
I remember when the FT1 had just surfaced the internet. There was one driving down a highway I had seen and sounded absolutely amazing comparable to f1
the fake vent on the right on the auto seems like it would be some sort of radar for adaptive cruise control
Au contraire. Is the six cylinder even necessary? The I4 does 0-60 in less than five seconds
Is it necessary to go to jail when you press throttle? No. But it is absolutely essential to flex on Instagram.
Used to have a 7th gen accord v6 6spd coupe. You can always tell the couples by the red v6 badge on the back vs the black v6 badge on the back of the automatic. Fun little car too
Is not just the manual. I love the oem wing. Always needed that
the new corvette dash seems like it should be the new supras dash sinch the 3rd gen supra had that driver focused dash setup like no other
The markup on the new Supra is going to be absolutely sickening
Ikr
Sales figure show that manual only will make sense with I6. Not enough people buy I4 for Toyota to make it with manual, its just doesnt make sense. If someone Wants a sportcar, with a manual, he will buy a more powerful Engine with better trims. Lets be honest, no one will buy I4 Supra for hardcore Driving, they will buy it just as a car for sometimes going bit faster. Developing New drivetrain just for that small nieche for people to not even buy it is stupid. I don't Understand why you think it doesnt make sense
2L Supra is great weekend sports car, lighter weight and better steering feel. B48 with downpipe and 300bhp is great for street, B58 with 400bhp you press throttle and you are speeding too much. Supra 3L costs almost $100K in Europe with taxes. Supra 2L is attainable sports car. But instead they want to push GR86 with weak naturally aspirated engine and they withold manual from 2L Supra.
I want the supra to look like the concept car supra.
They need a black one with gold badges
The reason the fake vent in the front grill is no longer flat, is because the manual does not have the adaptive cruise control so no radar.
Those new wheels seem to be a throwback to oldschool JDM wheels, most notably the SSR Starshark or the Cherry Blossoms that were VERY popular on MK2 Supra's. They might be pulling from aftermarket heritage
I want some of what you're smoking
i work in zeebruges on the toyota dock. i've seen so many supra's that it looks like a normal car now. i have pictures of the first supra that did the logistics tests . and pics with hundreds in one shot .
Haha pic shows "supras" gearshifter saying hy i am a bmw 😂😂😂
This has finally become a true sucessor to the MKIV
it's nice to have 2 gearsticks in the car
The front fake vents your refering about at the begining are actually the radar.....
I don't want a BMW that looks like a Supra. I want a Toyota over-engineered engine that you can tune the crap out of and get 300% power out of it from stock without major internal changes. I want a Toyota gearbox, and I want a Toyota interior.
This is really just an insult to the Supra cultists. I'll stick with the Z, at least it is pure.
Don’t blame Toyota for the delay with the manual & not offering it with the four cylinder, blame BMW.
Manual wow that sounds good. yaaa this new one is abit better
oldest person to leave a youtube comment ever
I would totally buy a sports car with an automatic trans
Not every car has to have manual trans to be good
I am not going to take a dump on this. But for long term Supra fans and collectors, the only way they would be interested in this is if someone would pull a J2Z engine swap on it.
Honda had red V6 badges for a short time on their 03-07 accord models for manual models.
TL:DR - the only changes are the wheels. Middle console slightly wider for manual stick and added a ugly beige interior. - saved you 10 mins.
my exact thoughts
The wheels look good because there's a decent amount of rubber on them.
For a European guy like me, the choice is obvious - I'd take the Supra because the Z isn't sold here (it can be imported, but the process is a pain in the ass).
Essentially the less BMW it becomes the more attractive the vehicle becomes....
I want some of whatever you're smoking
I prefer the look of the GR 86. It’s cleaner and more simple. The Supra is decent looking but a bit over-designed
If an aftermarket company created the GTA online "Jester RR" style front end for the Supra, I think it would look sweet.
Oh my god, they really added the correct transmission? I came here to trash talk them for making it automatic only. Good for them. (still silly to not put it in the smaller engine model if they already designed the car for it)
It looks basically identical though.
Couldn’t wait and ended up buying a 22 2ss 1le Camaro with manual transmission. I might trade it in for a Supra manual but i want to test drive it first.
arent those "fake vents" actually usable if you wanna mod your car? I heard that a few times, can anyone confirm?
Jep , th FT-1 Concept should have been the new Supra totally agree
A good raspy for Toyota was to make a slow cheap car that can be mod like hell
I personally would've took away the electronic e-brake switch and added a manual pull lever for a slicker and thinner look for the center console. Also, just for nostalgia, replace the damn start button for a manual turn key. If you're going for manual then go all the way!! Just for some added spice, toss in the removable top too. Now that will sell!
I saw the Toyota ft1 in person and it's a beautiful looking car I'm dissapointed Toyota didn't put it into production
They could have used a Lexus lc500 chassis and put 2 gr Yaris engines together for an inline 6
I always hated that “Supra” concept, it’s not a super car, never was
I don't understand how companies CAN design the FT1, but they make the z4 with a toyota badge...
The Supra is a better car than the 400... Doesn’t matter if it’s auto or manual, it’s better
Standard transmission is dying out because the car is slower and 90% of buyers want a fast automatic. It won’t up sales for them to go manual.
But Toyota says that fake vents are optional
Are people cutting holes thru the plastic vents? Modifying to make them functional?
They should've done a dual clutch or something rather than a pure automatic imo
DID YOU JUST SAY KOENIGSEGG!!!!
If only we got an e-brake lever
The tail on the manual seemed a little steeper to me
Now do the S58!
this isn't a car related question but what is your Essence Diffuser brand? I like yours because it's blowing the fume nonstop. Mine doesn't do that, it only blows every 10 mins or so. And if you could, also provide the link on where I can get them!! THANKS!!!!
BTW I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!!
I said it before and I'll say it again, new supra doesn't look bad, it just doesn't deserve the Supra badge, FT1 would held Supra badge proudly, but also with no BMW contribution.
The new Supra looks is just a downgraded mass production FT1 design with a shorter wheelbase
