    I learned to drive when I was 10 on my dads automatic 240Z. Sitting on phone books in a grass field. We still have it although it is a junker now. The body rotted out form Colorado road salt. And the engine got ruined when the timing chain was not properly reinstalled. Lots of Nostalgia though.

    • @beexiong2995
      @beexiong2995 Год назад +3

      For bland styling, i think it's too busy. You got different generation of Z cars retrofitted on the 370z chassis. So what is it really trying to be? A Frankenstein Z

    • @paulm749

    • @matthewjames4268
      @matthewjames4268 Год назад +4

      Agreed. The 300zx was long and low. 350 looked like a kids car. All round and huge body bumpers. 370 looked much better but the 400 looks the best since the 300. I miss mine.

    • @anydaynow01

      Totally agreed, owned a Z32TT, loved it. Then when the fat back big booty 350Z came out, I waited for the G35. Things didn't get better with the 370Z looks. This new Z, looks amazing, it's like they took all the best looking aspects of all the Z cars and they made a glorious looking chimera! With it being TT from all trim levels, perfect!

      @@beexiong2995 I haven't really followed Z cars, so maybe my perspective is different. But as soon as I saw the Z proto, I was sold on the retro-modern look. I don't care that it has styling elements from previous generations, I just love that it isn't a cookie cutter design like every other car out there these days, and to my eye at least they pulled it off really well.

    1.75 + 1.75 != 3.5" exhaust.
    Area of 1.75" circle is 2.40528188 in squared (so 4.8 total for the two pipes).
    The 2.5" pipe in the middle has an area of 4.9 inches squared.
    So actually the dual pipes are the bottleneck here.
    By comparison a 3.5" pipe would have an area of 9.6 in squared, meaning a single 3.5" would flow roughly double as much as 2 X 1.75" pipes.

    @JesseArt Год назад +57

    I think Nissan hit this one out of the park. I personally love the styling. The lines are clean and the rear end is an absolutely perfect blend of old and new. And I agree with the "parts bin" sentiments. I'd much rather have a proven in-house built system full of years of tweaking on a first generation than a mish-mash collaboration between different auto manufacturers.

    • @coreyfreeman6226
      @coreyfreeman6226 Год назад +1

      yeah but the supra inline 6 is also a proven platform as well as the ZF8 speed that's in a lot of cars and as reliable as Aisin transmissions Toyota co-owns. For daily driving, the Z is easier to modulate. Supra has crazy torque that's going to be a real problem for inexperienced drivers.

    Decades ago I bought a new Mustang GT, years later, a new Toyota Targa turbo, both had standard transmissions. The Toyota was much more expensive, but everything about it screamed quality, it was much more stable at high speeds, the clutch was feather light, great breaking (very smooth), and had beautiful lines.
    After a couple years, the sophistication wore, off, I missed my Mustang. The Mustang didn’t handle well, was a gas hog, ate oil, and couldn’t stop for crap (rear drums). BUT IT WAS MORE FUN. You could drop that Borg-Warner into any gear and light it up, heck you drop it into 1st at 5mph and drag the rear tires to a halt it ya wanted too, and that V8 sound.
    Sarah, how about an old vs new FUN comparison, could be same models, but not necessarily, just pick an old timer with lots of beans. Let’s see what FUN (if any) we may have lost with all the sophisticated stuff in cars today.

    Hagerty did a great job, as per usual, showing that the new Z is second-rate compared to the Supra
    Just like it was 30 years ago.
    It's a good sports car in a day of legendary sports cars.

    Still miss my blue 350Z......but this looks like a proper successor in every way. Love the design, interior, and the big power bump!

    This is the first really good looking car Nissan has come out with for a number of years.

    Thanks for the video, I have a 2018 370Z heritage that has a factory exedy clutch. The first year it was standard, Nissan continued to upgrade the 370 over the years. Great cars.
