He decided the death penalty for those dead victims
The head defense attorney has been unprofessional and had outrageous behavior during this entire trial. She has treated this trial as a game. We all understand she has a job to do but the way she has conducted herself during this trial really shows how little respect she has for the judge and the judicial system. It was beyond time the judge put her foot down.
Lol
It almost felt like because a few years had past, it wasn’t as serious to the defense and courtroom manners & respect fell by the waist-side. I also fe that the defense never expected to be granted life instead of death, so they thought they had nothing to lose.
You don't know what you are talking about

yep. Maybe this can be the silver lining for the parents who really felt the death penalty would bring them some peace. He has to live his whole freakin life being told when to eat, sleep, 💩 , shower ect
The defense lawyers are disgusting constantly interrupting trying to get a mistrial.
"With the power of my defense attorneys you will all see. I am tired of them being told what to do and when to do. They are tired of being told they are incompetent by that judge. In real life, you judge are the incompetent. You will all see, you will all know. Today is the day I get a mistrial. My annoying pathetic personality will never die. I hope to see you in the next comment section..." LOL.
Well, to be fair that's the job
That’s their job lol
They should be able to put this young sir in a mental institution. The court system is so screwed up now days. 😒
@@gabriela2762 No, that’s not their job, no matter how many people repeat that nonsense. It’s their job to use every legal argument to convince at least one judge to not recommend the death penalty.
It’s not their job to act unprofessional, it’s not their job to storm out when they don’t like the ruling of the judge, it’s not their job to flip off the judge and laugh with that murderous coward about it - while the victims families are sitting in court watching it. As if they didn’t suffer enough.
That’s not their job, that’s just disgusting behaviour. And it has nothing to do with “attacking public defenders”, that’s just a logical fallacy, it’s only about this defense team.
Let's not forget the defendant pled GUILTY himself. The defense has harassed the judge and has broken decorum, stalled at every turn, been late, talking out loud to each other during testimony, been overly argumentative against the judge since the start and all along purposefully in order to try and force a mistrial. The judge deserves a medal for holding back as long as she did. The defense made a mockery of a court of law. The crime was premeditated murder and if anyone deserves the death penalty it's the defendant. Hopefully he just gets life without parole because it would be a torture worse than death for a coward like him.
100% agree.
he’ll get death penalty one way or the other other. fellow prisoners will see to that.
the parents dont want him to get LWOP, also if he gets LWOP he will get recruited by some gang in the prison system
@@nenej12 Possibly. I don’t know much about Florida’s prisons, but I would guess as a mass murdering child killer he would be in administrative segregation? In gen pop they’ll put a shiv in his neck on day 1.
Why is there a trial if he plead guilty? Why not immediate sentencing?
If someone can brutally take 16-18 lives, he doesn’t deserve his own.
If I was an inmate I would finish him off.
Just let the interested parents of the victims with have 15 minutes alone in a room with him, and give them clubs.
Just put him in general population
How bout some lube for those clubs?
Exactly my thoughts, the only fair outcome
I always said just release him to they parents….whatever happens happens.
I'm not sure they would want to be murderers just like him. I do imagine they may "feel like it" but may not be able to follow through.
If anything, I feel the judge is too nice toward the BS some of these lawyers were pulling.
especially in the context of this very depressing tragedy.
I agree, there are judges that would've absolutely lost their minds and started screaming. I can understand why some people thinks she should've reprimanded them in private but she was right though, the attorneys were very unprofessional.

I get the feeling that the defence has been looking for a mistrial from day one. Yes that’s their job but they have be so disrespectful not just to court proceedings but to the parents too indirectly.
From day one I’ve seen comments about how the judge looks, her hair, her nails and so on being rude and disrespectful. If this had been a man who took care in his appearance, wore his hair fashionably, had his hands manicured, wore Armani suits etc not a word would have been spoken in disrespect.
I seen comments about how they would like to ‘do her’ and good god how it angers me. That she is hot, that the lipstick she is wearing is the wrong shade etc, oh it must be the time of the month!! ( let’s not forget Camille Vasquez Jonny Depp attorney who was an amazing lawyer, dressed well, spoke well, but she too was caught looking at her phone camera to make sure her lipstick wasn’t smudge and her hair in place. Again there were some awful disrespectful comments about her ) why is it women have to work as hard if not harder to prove themselves and be able to rightfully earn these positions and when they have put in the hours, done the job equal to their male counterparts they get slated. ( we all know the types of comments…. She slept her way there, she’s used her looks) isn’t it about time this stopped. I’ve actually seen men state “this is what happens given a woman a place in power, it’s so very wrong, woman have always been capable it’s just for many years they weren’t given the opportunities to progress. Do people really feel that threatened by a hard working woman.
Just because she is a woman who takes care of her appearance and so she should she is a judge and young judge at that, but she didn’t stand a chance with some people. It started day one, first hour. Since then it’s got worse. Every delay is her fault regardless that it maybe the defence, prosecutors, Cruz delayed arriving or even a jury member, it’s not always i her control. On top of this she gets objects raised that she has to deal with out of the court. I doubt this is the only trial she is sitting on.
She is obviously knowledgeable and earned her position. Yes it may also be her first televised, her first death penalty, it’s certainly her biggest case. I’m sure there will be nerves regardless whether they be male or female. Before those say well she shouldn’t have got it in the first place, all judges have to start somewhere. This certainly is her first trial she has experience but it’s probably the largest as I said.
The defence have also been way out of line, as I said it’s their job to get the best result for their client. Yes the judge could have spoken to her in private, but they have done everything to create delays, the defence lead has huffed, puffed thrown papers down in anger when not getting the objection they wanted.
They have pushed and pushed I’m sure any judge would have eventually lost it, I’ve seen some judges with years of experience losing when lawyers pull stunts. However to create what they did when the prosecution raised issues on witnesses they now didn’t want to call who have been booked for months. Meaning this was the first time of hearing it which also meant they needed time to regroup. Only then after all that arguing the defence state they are resting.
The judge has spoken to them all on numerous occasions about the behaviour and tardiness etc this was the final straw.
An absolutely eloquent way to put it. Very comprehensive and heartbreakingly true
Misogyny is to become a crime in the U.K. and I’m glad.

I am all for due process but the punishment for these types of crimes should be automatic death penalty. That might make people think twice.
Sadly the death penalty isnt much of a deterrent for crime. But with a person like the Parkland Shooter its hard to argue that some people just shouldn't be allowed to live a full life. Even in prison.
@@mr.ashenfire2624 I think many of them expect the death penalty. It's just difficult when a life sentence doesn't mean anything to the criminal. I seriously doubt that he will ever feel remorse. He won't be thinking about anything but himself.
100% agreed, and I don’t care if death penalty donations change the amount of crimes. These people do not deserve any more life.

They don't think like we do though. Even a life sentence is enough to deter most people. They don't care wether it's death row or life- they will still do what they feel like doing regardless.
Judges are allowed to enforce order and good behavior in the courtroom. The Judge was absolutely correct in her response. I think the defense was trying to bait the judge the entire time to get her to go back at them, so they could then claim the judge was biased.
this team of attorneys is an embarrassment . I can’t imagine anyone wanting to hire these attorneys for any type of case.

Indeed. It should have been death penalty. He's proud of himself, killing more than the murderers at Columbine. Killing 17 people, nearly killing more who survived is too vile and evil. It was a premeditated murder and he could have killed more actually. A tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye! He's despicable and evil. He shows no remorse.
I can't believe that guard got whooped by this dork! I know he was caught off guard but that shouldn't happen when you work in a prison.
That's what I was saying. This dude looks skinny and kinda weak and he just straight up over power him like that? Bruh.
I was surprised at first too. I guess it came out of nowhere. If you watch the longer clip, it doesn't take long before the guard gets him off. I don't think he was particularly injured or anything. NC is deranged. I work in a hospital and you'd be surprised how strong people like that can be when they flip - even the smallest of women can have strength you wouldn't imagine.
Love this judge!!!!
Why are there bots and trolls here defending Nikolas?
Did the defense team hire internet bots?

The fact that this is such a saga, just sentence him already 😩
Agreed. He killed 17 people and wounded and victimized countless others to the point where they’ll never be able to forget about what happened that day. Give him the death penalty and be done with it.
This isn’t amber heard And Johnny deep. I think it’s immensely disrespectful to the victims and survivors to label “TOP 5” anything from this trial. Maybe “5 must see” or “5 important moments” etc., I get this is entertainment. But come on this is 17 dead kids. Let’s remember that there’s ethical ways to cover true crime. This ain’t it
Let’s not forget, last time I checked the guy is getting the *entire* pod to himself. For those of you who haven’t been to jail or prison, that is unusual and is almost certainly due to his high profile case… imagine someone behaving like nikolas Cruz in general population on the yard
That is a sneaky way to get a appeal case going.

I honestly believe it would be more humane, right and safer if they rule the death penalty. Putting him in a pysch ward or something may not help him. It's just a real tragic case where no one will be able to properly heal from what he did.
Did he just used Arya’s stark from game of thrones line? “You are nothing you are noone. Nothing worth anything to a dead man” 😮

Judge is smooth
Just for discussion - I find myself becoming more and more convinced that the death penalty is any kind of deterrent in cases like this. It seems, on several occasions that their death is the ultimate goal for people who carry out such shootings. They seem more like suicides, going out in a blaze of glory.
If that is the case, then surely a death sentence would simply cue the next, unstable teenager to follow the same course of action. Could it be the case that the punishment itself is fuelling the behaviour?
Its uncomfortable to think upon that.
I do agree with the thinking that they do want to "go down in a blaze of glory". I think they imagine that they will be remembered by the whole world forever. Sadly, most of us will forget within a reasonable amount of time. But, I think they are still ok knowing only the families are going to be remembering them. It really is sad.
No, the punishment isn't fuelling the behaviour. If your view was the case the defendant and his lawyers would not be trying everything possible to avoid the death penalty. He would simply have instructed his lawyers not to put on a defense to the death penalty and he would have been sitting on death row months ago when he made his guilty plea.
@@bigbootyhunta This is the right answer...it proves the assumption to be incorrect.

It's irrelevant. In Florida, if the State wants to put someone to death there has to be this penalty phase trail. It's a waste of money and time.
It's best just to leave it as life without parole.
