  • Any water leak is bad but behind a wall is the worst kind. It is also a good place to hide really bad workmanship. This job gives me both and a challenging crack where I cannot replace the joint.

I've seen some shody plumbing in my days on this earth. I must admit, what you're dealing with ranks right up there with the worst.

It is true the older you get the less shocked you become, but surprises just keep coming. Thanks Cari

Sweet Bejeezez.. Can't be anyone with the slightest knowledge about plumbing doing such a shitty job... I've seen some weird stuff through the years, but this one is top 5😲 I hope, for the owners sake, that you'll fix that mess permanently... I wish you guys a great weekend, all the best to you and I'll be lookin' forward to the next one👋

I thought after bashing my head several times I would see something different, but no every-time I looked it was still there. Thanks.

Howdy Simon- yep, that’s not the nicest bit of plumbing I’ve ever seen. Looks like someone didn’t learn their craft very well. I’m sure when you get back to it you will have it looking like a master had been there. Hope all is well with you and Ms Sarah. Take care my friend. God bless

Thank you Paul, I would rather be in the forest but these small jobs still need attending to. We are all great thanks I am just about to jump into the plow and go to clear up after another snowfall. Take care my friend.

That looks like silver brazed connections like I use in HVACR construction. In the United States we are required to use silver braze on all underground connections. Interior we use no-lead soft solder.
The other application for brazed connections are on steam boilers.

    • @arctic-rebel
      @arctic-rebel  4 месяца назад

Exactly what it was, fixed with some lead, no problem.

@@arctic-rebel If you need to braze connections you need flux and 56 percent rod and oxy-acetylene or turbo torch.
Everyone is switching to PEX or Pro Press in new construction.

Nothing short of a shit show there my friend. We had a rental water softner that was installed before we bought our home. Had them install a new one we bought.
There ended up being a leak after they left. I figured they didnt do it right the first time, definitely not having them back. I bought what i needed and taught myself to sweat joints. Ive done alot since then.
My whole house is copper. I just shake my head at those that repace copper with their plastic pex tubing or shark bite fittings. Seems everyone here tears out the copper and does that. Copper is for life, usually many lifes.
I think i may have forgotten to chime in on the last video but rest assured i did watch.
Hope all are well pal and have a great weekend. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Michael, I have had many dealings with tradesmen and some take pride and some just complete the task. This was neither and so some points for effort but stay away from me. I see most new construction is done in plastic now which is cheaper, easier and disposable. Not our world and thus we acknowledge we are already referred to as dinosaurs that are out of touch by the younger generation. I also like country, soul and rock music and don't need a computer to drive my car. Stay true my friend and take care.

Yeah Simon, there are repairmen like you who do things correctly, and then there's everyone else. Done properly it lasts a lifetime. Cobble jobs get repaired over and over and over. Someone before you had enough knowledge to use excessive heat and brazing rod on domestic water lines. That means to me they didnt give a shit about right and wrong. I have difficulty with that mentality. I hope I'm not slamming on the homeowner, someone you may know.

I am sure Matthew you can tell, but if there is any misunderstanding I can confirm that anyone who knows me or has had contact with me has been insulted or criticized by me at some point. I have no extra brain capacity for dancing around the bush of feelings when someone does, has done or is doing something stupid or incorrectly according to me. I always just assume if it looks wrong then it must be. I draw great comfort from your comments know I am not alone and appreciate that immensely. Thank you.

appears to be silver brazed, not soldered !

Mmmm... pretty plumbing - pretty awful! I hope it lasts until the summer when you can sort it out permanently!
Anyway... I noticed a distinct correlation between the cupboard, your head and your mouth! 😵‍💫🤪😁
