Thanks Aaron , the joy and memories your video bring is awesome. dad bought a New Holland square baler from local dealer Portage la Prairie , Manitoba 1972 or 1973 recal model 273. did not have the bale thrower device ,just an additional extension to deliver bales to the front of towed flat deck hay wagon. carrying bales & stacking them was my job age 10 until 18. 1981 dad bought a Vermeer model 605 round baler , 3 man down to 1 man operation.
Keep up the great workings o' the land. It is like feeding a world. Love the roar of the tractor. Gramps had a 50 and an A. 300 acres in Osakis. Kept it simple.
Nice to see the 1066 black stripe at work in the field. I grew up on a 966 which I thought was great (back in the seventies it was great for sure). Thanks.
So glad to see the good yield. Love how you all work well together and love the sound of the baler working away. Hope your dad isn't too stressed. It worked out and things can be fixed. It never seems to happen that only one thing goes wrong. Totally different, but if one car was having a problem, the other either had a flat tire or my husband would run out of gas and had to walk to a gas station, buy another gas can and walk back again. He drove a great deal with his job and always thought he could make it somewhere. We now have a good selection of gas cans, though.
Love the tricycle front end tractors, brings back such good memories growing up. Similar hills and terrain to my neck of the woods in Upstate NY. Never tipped a tractor over but I can remember a hay wagon tipped over on a sidehill like yours. Skinny truck tires and too much up top. People should watch videos on how the knotters work on these balers, really pretty cool.
Love the old school equipment still going strong.Love how your family works together and keep farming the old school way.Great to see the 7810 back running and glad it was just the belt. Thanks for sharing and may all of you stay safe and continue to be blessed.
Alfalfa can be packed tighter than grass hay. I used to make them 80#, but I was stacking behind the thrower on 8 ton wagons. Didn't need any extra exercise then, either! 😂💪
Definitely check the hydraulic filter. That thrower should send bales over the top of the racks. I know it's a fairly new baler, but the filter may have picked up stuff that was missed being cleaned before assembly, and has reduced flow. I prefer the seeing the big 7810 in front of the baler! The perfect combination in my mind!👍👍
Great awesome video, love the old baler we had the same then got a 315 hayliner with thrower . That new one seems you can move fast or it’s telling you to feed it more ?
My experience with those new Holland bale throwers it sounds like you need to increase your hydraulic flow on the tractor a bit. Most of the time that fixes that issue. We had that switching back and forth on tractors also
Your bails look shorter than most small bails or is that just the camera view or the way you guys like them. That’s not a compliment. You do what works for you not what others think is right. Stay safe and thank you.
just a question: do you feel you have to talk loud so that we can hear you ? The title says good old days but I doubt that you want to back to that time because that was really hard work and not much pay
@@rustyrelicsfarm2406 Thank you but i had figured this out by myself. Is older equipment a good thing? Mostly an enormous pain in the xxxxx People fantasizing about the "good old times " But have no clue and never experienced these wonderfull times. Even this guy who just came looking never had to experience hardship
@@robsterenborgthose days were good sure you might have had to work a little harder but hard work never hurt anybody it kept people in shape they weren't all overweight and obese like they are now and times were simpler when they needed something it was affordable. Not so much these days.
I just remember as a farm kid bailing hay in the 70s with no thrower having to physically handle every bail multiple times and being cursed with hay fever how I hated that task. The large round bailer wasn't at that time a reality. If farming today I would never allow a small square bailer on my property. I get that you love them but not me. I love to watch the channel, but this makes me cringe a bit.
Thanks for sharing the video. Nice looking hay. Good feed for the cattle.
Really #enjoyed the raking and baling. Congratulations on having wonderful #fields-of-alfalfa. Thank you. 😊😊

Another good "Red/Green Show" video. Thanks for taking us along!
Sure made some beautiful hay!!! Worked out well having the 1066 to use until the 686 leak can be repaired.

Music to a farmer ears.We are going out to the field and bale some nice dry alfalfa hay!! Thanks 😊.

Hell ya the black stripe rides !!!!
Nice seeing the 1066 working. Thanks Aaron
One of the best balers we had were New Hollands. Alongside the Bamford baler we had too. Great video. All the best 🇬🇧.
Great looking hay guys the cows will love it
Seeing the Black Stripe 1066 in action.
I bought that machine to control the weeds on my farm. Is it good ?

great seeing the 1066 baling
another good one!!
Another great video on bailing hay.
Cool seeing 1066 on baler
I remember a neighbor dairy farmer had black stripe 1066 with a straight pipe an had it on a bailer . You could hear it singing a good tune .
Probably a good idea using the 1066 on the baler. Horsepower is not the issue, however on ground that steep the heavier the tractor the better
Thank you for your time and videos. Like your old school and old world ways of farming. Please stay safe and keep the videos coming.
Looks like some heavy bales!!

Lots of hay this year!
Love your vidios and i love watching you picking ear corn
The speed you rake I can't believe that you have any leaves left on that alfalfa.
A real baling tractor. Now that's farming
LOL
Neighbor always used the 1466 International to bale. It was the only one that had an air conditioned cab. And he was always driving!😅
Love the new stuff but enjoy seeing the order stuff beings used ...
Grandpa Wisi always made the small bales "small" so us girls could help unload when we were younger. That was pretty smart of him. 😏
You all have balls driving on those hills !!!!!
Turn up the relief pressure on your thrower pump, can hear it pulling down pretty far every time your thrower throws a bale.
Great awesome video, love the old baler we had the same then got a 315 hayliner with thrower . That new one seems you can move fast or it’s telling you to feed it more ?
George, what year would've you considered the best hay crop you produced and maybe how it compares to this years 2nd crop Alfalfa?
That's a good question?
Down pressure on the thrower is to tight it has force the bail out you can hear it 😊
Change the oil filter on the kicker may make it work
Boy ,this video is awesome. I did this for a long time. Honest work but the pay “WEEEEEELL”
It would quite a job trying to stack bales on rack on those hills!
Check the tightness of your belts on the thrower. That is nice looking hay. Do you test your feed??
What are all those pictures on the wall of your shop, just curious
I bale with the “ m”, 273 , and wagon,, I pay some high schoolers to stack,, only grow 100 acres pasture hay,, sell locally 😎

Did you guys buy the round baler yet?
Real old school would have hooking the MTA to it, but we digress LOL....
No expert here, did you check the belt tension on that thrower and make sure the belt isn’t glazed over? Good video keep up the good work.
The baler guy always got the raspberries from the elevator crew if the bales were too tight 😬
Windows look light 2 in 1 would of worked here A lot of running around Good looking hay
do you ever double up the windrows?
What is the twine you’re using in 273 baler? I have same baler and only ever used sisal twine.
Good old fashion farming! U guy ever plan on using gps auto steer etc
Aaron or George and Mason for every bale you miss in the wagon the cost is $2 per miss lol
The same baler my uncle used for many years , all but the hydraulics , his didn't have any ,
For some reason it seems the bales are slowing down the thrower belts you could hear it in the video. It could be the density of the bale.
Your bails look shorter than most small bails or is that just the camera view or the way you guys like them. That’s not a compliment. You do what works for you not what others think is right. Stay safe and thank you.
Can't bale big long bales in second cut with a bake thrower they tend to be less rigid and to many break open from getting fired in the wagon.
Sunscreen Sunscreen Sunscreen. Let's make sure the next generations can learn from your experience.
how does a knotter work?
Doesn't the draft on the tractor reglate the thrower depth ? Just sayin
What??
No it sure doesn't.
@@Otherrandomguy42 l don't know what he's talking about. Draft controls the 3 point.

Yes that your driving that red junk
If the GREEN JUNK doesn’t breakdown you wouldn’t need to use the reliable RED stuff!
Why wouldn't a Trac tractor work better for all applications?
The "good old days" would have had a high school kid loading the bales on a rack for $1 per hour, not a bale thrower
😂it's a New Holland should have got a John Deere Baler
LMAO.
