The pipe equivalent to the needle in the haystack..finding a leak in underground waterpipes is no walk in the park.. I'd guess a new pipe, a 90° bend and a new foot valve in the well would solve the problem... me thinks🤔 Then again.. there will be some digging to be done and that's no easy peasy job. Hi Hilsen, I am also on public water from the river but we have had many burst pipe this winter which and the old 1950's iron pipes. These are deep and still have to be dug up and changed. Have a great weekend.

My house is built in the 40's. It cost me alot, almost 40 000 Norwegian kroner, (4000$), since I had to have a company to do it. Have a nice wekend you too. Best wishes from Asle
Thank you, a mini digger will not reach deep enough for the main pipes. We have had a huge machine here for a week fixing the main water lines, many of which burst over winter. The main village has iron pipes form the 50's and they are a long way down.

I thought I was done with ground work 20 years ago, but no still at it. I don't know anything about gold and where you are, but I do know I have never seen gold like I have here. We have even found a rough diamond in a river many years ago.

Howdy Simon- you can surely get yourself in some tricky stuff to figure out. Here in the states a plumber would probably just dig a new ditch line and replace everything but you are dealing with customers who may not have the finances to do that so you do your magic and figure out how to do something that will fit their budget. You amaze me with your skills at trouble shooting and repairs. God bless you my friend

I thought the underbelly of the last house and well was bad enough, but this is a six foot vertical dig….it’s going to be interesting what the owner decides. Oh! Hi Anne, I am the only person for a long way that is willing to do this king of work so I just get on with it whilst complaining you know how it is. I have just come back from part 2 of this project and there will be a concluding part and thankfully no digging.

@@arctic-rebel Two days ago I had an issue with a well on one of my rental properties turned out something chewed through half of the power wire under ground. I had to put in 100ft of new wire.
I wonder if it's a combination of a bad foot valve and a hump in the line. That would explain why you can't prime it and why it only takes ~2L at a time. Although, as I'm sure you've noticed in life as well, that thing you really don't want to do, in this case digging up the entire line, is probably the only solution. Well, other than telling them to buy a bucket and a rope for the well :)
I was thinking long the same lines as you, the pipe rising can never be good for back filling it initially. I have to deal with the foot valve first and that will just leave the pipe.
Is it possible to slide another pipe through the existing pipe or is that just a pipe dream. That well has been a thorn in your back side, I remember when you did all that work last year and I remember you are on a tight budget. Good luck and may you find the problem,Godspeed.
I wish, the internal bore is 25mm, just not enough to be able to act as a sleeve otherwise it would be an easy fix. It may still be depending on what I find in the well. Thank you, have a great weekend.

They do have a meter to find moisture, we’ve used them to find leaks in roofs. But I wouldn’t think that’s an option.

Use your air compressor to pressurize the line and listen for the leak.

I had same problem in the spring at a friends place.
How did you solve it, or what did you find?

The end where it exits the floor in the cellar has a valve and can be turn off to test that exact issue.
