OK I KNOW THIS IS A BIT HEATH ROBINSON! But it has actually worked really well and Lee loves me more than ever. Float Switch: amzn.to/443iwvV Amazon Tool Store: www.amazon.co.uk/shop/plumberparts
I have more or less the same system at home, I have cut a tank feed into the header tank at the top, so the hot and cold feeds go to a aqualisa digital pumped shower unit. We have 8 bar of water pressure, which I have had to reduce down to 4, full bore valves everywhere and the system works perfectly. After a very long shower the water level gets very low, but has never run out. We cant use the boost function on the shower for very long tho.😁 The float is a very interesting idea tho.👍
I had a fortic tank in a flat once, it used to get an airlock whenever drained too much, had to back feed with mains pressure water to clear airlock. And yeah, rubbish pressure and flow from that fortic tank.
Haha! I did see you're mains boost yesterday. I got loads of hassle a few years ago on mine from people saying I'd nick pressure from other properties! See you at Installer!
@@plumberparts Done quite a few of these pumped hot supplies on combi cylinders but without the float switch, just made sure there was a good mains flow to the ballvalve. We were told Salamander might argue with this type of install if making a warranty claim.
Quick question a stuart moonson stopped letting the cold water flow through the pump any ideas . Installed another pump 1.7 bar salamander pressure Is too high from it to the shower. Any way to reduce the pressure and keep the same pump in. Pump feeding all cold supply to house, apart from kitchen sink.
Jimbo... what ever you do, don't let Lee see that wood in your van. He loves a bit of old woodworking does that one 😉 especially on new builds 😂. That aside great video mate... was just like watching the Chuckle Sisters but in real life.😮
These tanks can work properly. We've got one in a bungalow and it's fine. If the fittings and pipes are correct it shouldn't be a problem but everything is made for pressurised systems these days so when upgrades are done it no longer works as it should.
Yea Stuart Turner Pumps... What Flippin Brilliant Customer service I've had them out to site on more than one occasion to reinforce my recommendations to the Customer. They have never let me or more to the point the Customer down always with the most economical solution.
I'm subscribed with the bell clicked. I've just seen this video but have had no notifications for months. I thought you had shut the channel down. You must have upset the RUclips Gods 😂
I also had a combinationn hot water cylinder with a pump. Gave me so many problems. You would be better off with an unvented cylinder. So much more reliable.
I would have thought a real world test using the cold at the same time to fill the bath would have been better as that would have slowed the water going into the header tank meaning it would have cut out earlier, but if it works, all well and good
James! I’m distraught!!! You didn’t clean all the dust off that plastic cold tank tank lid!!!! OMG Also, how did that float system actually increase the hot water pressure?? Confused
The float was just to stop the PUMP from running dry, it was the pump he installed in the bottom of the cupboard that was boosting the water pressure coming out of the tank
Does pressurized boiler cost so much that you need to add alll this crap to the system instead of just replacing? P. S. We don’t have such boilers in Ukraine so it’s a new land for me
I posted that as well but comment disappeared. 15 minutes work - much smaller, no soldering, pipe bending or electrics. Did it for my in-laws a few weeks ago and it's great
@@plumberparts Its called Shower Power Booster - SP2B. I think it's compatible with all types of system but I did it on a gravity feed system connected directly next to the hot water tank. It mainly was to feed a shower but obviously boosts every tap as well. It autodetects flow, you hear the pump kick in get loads of power.
@christophersadler1499 although that would work, it would run dry on this system without the switch gear. Also this boosted the entire house. Well done on getting yours sorted!
@@plumberparts ah yeah not seen little tanks like that before only big ones from loft so that makes sense with the float thing. The one I mention boosts whole house as well. The guy who invented it is mega nerdy and you can link 2 in series and they talk to each other to get mega flow if you have super low pressure. All your videos have helped me so much do my in-laws bathroom over the past month. Thanks
Sorry, I normally like and enjoy your videos but had to give up watching this one because of all the stupid banter. Some people just want a factual explanation and demonstration of what to do and how to do it.
Nice job as always 😊 But why's Lee still got an electric shower unit after all that effort.... couldn't lee ask for you to bung the hp hot to the shower too....save a bit of kettle boiling cost . Im not a plumber obviously.....i await you to correct me....or just a fk off id think🤣🤣 Luv ya vids😊

a good job and a cheap job
Water pump keeps running wen u turn on the hot water tap. Used to shut of wen turn off
Seriously appreciate how you draw and explain at the same time top job
Love the Art 🖼️ work on lees cylinder good reminder every time he opens the hot-press of the crazy day he had installing the pump,
👍👍🤜
Its the only way he'll learn!

Great job. Works surprisingly well. Though I would have ditched the gate valve for a full bore lever valve
Good call - might do that next time I'm there!

Seems like we both got the "Do a video on boosting water pressure" memo this week mate....!!!
see you next week buddy
Haha! I did see you're mains boost yesterday. I got loads of hassle a few years ago on mine from people saying I'd nick pressure from other properties! See you at Installer!
Why not add a service valve above Gothenburg pump on the outflow side of the pump while you were there and cut into the pipe?
Really enjoyed your video James, thank you 😊👍
Cheers!

And a lovely lad!
Sitting there on the bed with open eyes, "I'm thinking about pressurizing hot water tanks"
HAAHA poetry.

I do find this with taps these days!
Another brilliant video

Unvented is the way!
James the 🐐🤣🤣
Baaaaaa!
If the cylinder was on the lower shelf a bigger supply tank could have been fitted day one.

Cool idea, im a chippy and have patents on gutters ;)
"Banksy" 😂😋🤩
Fit a salamander homeboost pump or just put in a bigger cylinder ?
Home boost would not improve the flow from the fortic tank.
fit a unvented hot water cylinder.
Cause the customers just going to cought up a few grand for a laugh 😕😕
I'll be back!

Prob cheaper in long run to just fit a combi

Great vid. Shame about the Chameleon. Maybe it would have survived better in it’s natural environment?. 🤔🙁
