That's hardly high-tech. It's an electric window shade. The guy screwed up by forgetting to roll the cover up. The reporter said they're only supposed to be used while driving off road. What's the point of that? To prevent a moose from reading your plate?
Even a clear plate they can ticket you. Cause by law you’re not allow to any cover on the plate. I got pulled over saying my tint was too dark they measured it and it was ok. Then issue me a ticket of a clear cover instead 😂 so even the dealer plate covers are technically illegal too
In San Francisco, what is now common are vehicles driving at night without license plate light, particularly ride services and restaurant delivery drivers.
“Ah crap. You know what? I took it off to replace the screws and forgot it at home. So sorry, but I understand if I’ll be cited”. - Roll credits. WHY WOULD YOU TELL THEM ABOUT THE FLIPPER?!
The alternative would be a ticket for a vehicle with no plate at all (not just obscured)... and possibly getting the vehicle impounded. Showing the officer the plate cover was probably the driver's way to say "see - I really do have a plate", and to explain how he "accidentally" had it covered. And it worked - the tickets he got cost less than an oil change for that car, so the driver got away with it and will not remove the cover.

Plate switching has been around for decades. I remember watching the old Green Hornet TV series where the plate would switch to another one. Some states are really strict, I got a fine for having a perfectly clear cover over my plate about 35 yrs ago in MD.
Yeah, I use PAPER PLATES because I do a lot of things that I shouldn't. Because I can just PRINT A NEW ONE -- if I see any type of APB for my license plate. Crime is so easy now.
I bought a perfectly clear one with a fun border, thinking it would protect my plate - especially when there were license plate stickers; I was told by my driving trainer that the stickers are stolen sometimes and I didn't want to be ticketed for not having an up to date sticker. The cover, which I thought would protect my plate, actually CAUSED the paint to peel prematurely by trapping just a bit of moisture, and I had to go get new plates. Huge waste of money.
*Crossing the toll bridge with my buddy I tailgated a semi and told my buddy to stay on my bumper as we passed the camera bar* I never got a toll ticket in the mail. But this seems safer and easier. I would also recommend a full badge delete to further their confusion upon tape review.

In Alberta, the police ignore these violations, as well as intentionally distorted license plates, tinted windows and distracted driving. I lived in London, UK and the police have no mercy when it comes to these types of motor vehicles violations. The police always want more funding, but as I see it, they could easily add millions to their funding shortfall if they actually enforced and ticketed individuals who are the problem, especially distracted drivers with a $450.00 fine and 3 demerits, which their insurance rates would increase and not mine.
The easiest way to get out of most traffic tickets. Dispute it, and take it to court. 9 times out of 10 the issuing officer won't show up, and the judge will through it out. Meaning the ticket was basically never written. No fine, no demerrit points, no increase in insurance.
You’re wrong! I live in Alberta and I’ve been busted for having a plate cover that distorts the image for photo radar. It was a $150 fine and they took my cover. You used to be able to buy them for $60 at JB Automotives in Edmonton. Lol. I’ve also been stopped twice for tinted side windows in the front seats. Was fined once and the other time I was given the option to peel off the tint or take a fine.
Maybe for some, we moved to Alberta and have been pulled over for tinted windows and having a car that is too loud several times in the last year. I have seen many others with tinted windows and much louder cars. So I’m not sure what it is.

Makes you wonder what else that person is trying not to pay.
The state police to collect and enforce. They turned those who thought they would protect and serve into glorified meter maids.
Province...
F tolls! Toll road are for profit, not paying for roads like they say. Tax dollars pay for road!
A friend of mine says that parking fines are just a charge for excellent parking. This seems like the same thing. A small charge to get a free toll pass.
If they may not be legal to use, why are the stores allowed to sell them ?
Its like when the bong shelf at the convenience store would have a pieces of paper taped to it that says
“For tobacco use only”
They sell it under the guise of “well, maybe the buyer will use it in a province where it IS legal”
Or maybe its for some dillweed who wants to keep a vehicles plate clean, but it sits on cinderblocks on the driveway and doesn’t hit the road lol
They can say for decorative use only. Not to be used on the road
Yeah, canada still have that issues. Store can sell lots of stuff. But the moment you own them they are now illegal to have.
More than likely bought online....
That's hardly high-tech. It's an electric window shade. The guy screwed up by forgetting to roll the cover up. The reporter said they're only supposed to be used while driving off road. What's the point of that? To prevent a moose from reading your plate?
Driver snitched on himself
if you can afford a porche you can afford tolls. this is likely an anti-theft device
Even a clear plate they can ticket you. Cause by law you’re not allow to any cover on the plate. I got pulled over saying my tint was too dark they measured it and it was ok. Then issue me a ticket of a clear cover instead 😂 so even the dealer plate covers are technically illegal too
Obstruct it for tolls but remember to switch it back after you break the law.
Genius!!
Confiscate the vehicle.
I am glad all violent crime has been solved where they can punish these infractions!
Because violent criminals would never try to hide their license plate or commit other "minor" crimes that YOU decide should go unpursued and unpunished.
A rich person that use peasant ways to avoid getting tickets. This doesn't make sense bro
@@PoeLemic IKR? LOL!!!
They also sell a device where you can switch between two plates.
"Intended only for offroad use."
Yeah. Like all those stores that say, "Novelty pipes are for tobacco use only."
Yeah, right.
He probably got that hi tech plate cover from a flea market lol
Down at Bowmanville I heard byi should drive sales up
@@nomadchopperIn Brampton they do the Poky Poky
I bought a perfectly clear one with a fun border, thinking it would protect my plate - especially when there were license plate stickers; I was told by my driving trainer that the stickers are stolen sometimes and I didn't want to be ticketed for not having an up to date sticker.
The cover, which I thought would protect my plate, actually CAUSED the paint to peel prematurely by trapping just a bit of moisture, and I had to go get new plates. Huge waste of money.
*Crossing the toll bridge with my buddy I tailgated a semi and told my buddy to stay on my bumper as we passed the camera bar*
I never got a toll ticket in the mail.
But this seems safer and easier. I would also recommend a full badge delete to further their confusion upon tape review.
I thought it’d be some sort of smart glass that could turn opaque by pressing a button.
Every time I see him I think of the cp24 Mike Tyson interview. 😂
I saw that live it was the best live interview I've ever seen. Tyson was awesome. Ever since I cringe when he's on cp24
Would of been better to act surprised as if your plates were stolen. Do stupid things win stupid prizes.
Seize the car, crush it, and shred his license for a few years.
@letasynin Meh.
Buy and antique car with a gas cap behind the license plate. Attach cable and have fun!
Awesome! Where can I get one?
This guy drives a Porsche he can definitely afford two $110 tickets lol.
I just love how humane, loving, valuing human life, and respectful Canadian police seem to be.
I would love to have a "police encounter" in Canada 😂😂😂🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍
He's just being nice for the interview. Believe me, the cops in Canada can be very nasty. Beware.
So..where is our rebate for tax payers when ontario sold 407 ?
What does this have to do with anything? I was trying to reach you about your extended warranty...
@@andyfunke9484 You still have to go to court. Do that once a month, and you'll find it might be cheaper to just stop the bad behavior even if it costs you no direct money to the state.
Thanks for letting everyone know where they are available for purchase👍
Definitely need one of those. Everyone should have them
Every crook, you mean.
I got a 695$ ticket (Qc, Montreal)for a clear plastic cover from Canadian tire , went to court and lost ! And he got 110$??? What a joke!
That's awesome. Great device.
Sure he forgot to take it off from car show lol
Can you provide the link to purchase the license plate cover? Asking for a friend.
When our plates are snow covered while driving during bad weather conditions is the only time you can slide on this. Digital technology will change the plates system where our vehicles information will be active and accessible in a radio frequency.
That would be a terrible idea.
@@jonathanmiller5232 yes but it's coming and so will the many security issues with it
They already have a different technology for it. Just ask "on-star"
@@lucdallaire9047 I know but when I say it's coming I say it like that because it's not in force in Ontario as of yet. Technology is available in many ways it's a matter of the government keeping control of financial gain.
Just cover sticker/transponder with RFID blocker
Pretty based driver tbh
He has money to buy a luxury car, but doesn't have money to pay tolls.😂😂
Dude, he is deep in debt making the payments on the banks luxury car
"He forgot to put it up"
Sure he did!
Those covers are great for Alberta. If it looks like you don't have a plate, then thieves won't try to steal it. In Alberta, I've had a few plates stolen. It sucks.
Canadians are so nice - at the end the presenter shared with the world where we can get these plate covers for ourselves. Nice!
Kudos to the dude for avoiding all those cash grab speed cameras. If he is a sensible driver, probably not driving a Porsche, I commend him for being crafty.
Was that even for toll evasion or was it just to protect the plate when the car isint in use?
If anyone knows where I can buy this please 😊
I think that fine is far too light. And the driver should be forced to remove the concealer. There is no legitimate reason to own this technology.
News reporting is dead.
"By law, every driver in Ontario must have license plates on their vehicle that are unobstructed and visible at all times."
According to that, it doesn't matter if the plates are registered for that vehicle or even current.
Exactly my thoughts, he should of had a cloned number on that cover, then not only would he avoid the stop for appearing not to have a plate, someone else get the tolls and speed camera fines haha
Well if you wanted 10 more minutes of reciting traffic laws you should already know....
Just like everywhere else.
That’s a different law.
Here in South Australia we do not have Tolls for roads because it is the governments responsibility to supply roads not private companies to profit from. We pay registration and insurance to the government that is enough!
