honestly, when you said the pungent taste was the least balancing, I almost started crying. I am vata-pitta dosha but I DEVOUR spicy food regularly. It’s like if it’s not hot, I don’t like it. I’m learning though!
so helpful! I can't believe how much I already gravitated toward these things naturally. Have been transitioning out of a fully vegan diet and including things like cottage cheese and eggs, which I tolerated immediately REALLY well. Cut down my bean consumption and am sticking to tofu. My digestion is greatly improved. It's so crazy how accurate this is.
Wow. What a synchronicity. I just started looking up videos on doshas today and I found a video that was made less than a day ago. The video is awesome by the way. As informative as it gets!
This is awesome! I always get questions from my clients about how to balance BOTH vata and pitta. This is going to be a great video to send them to! I like how you focus on the elements and how those combined elements contribute to the vata/pitta imbalances. It's so much more intuitive that way, rather than just trying to memorize what vata and pitta are supposed to look like!
Interesting. I have recently learned that I am vata-pitta and I feel that my body naturally feels very comfortable with heavier bland food, even though I find it boring to eat. I absolutely love the taste of pungent salty things and will devour them but have also noticed that once I start I can’t stop, it’s like I’m compulsively feeding the fire and can’t quit. I’ll end up pouring nearly half the bottle of sriracha sauce on one portion of chips. Now I see that I may have literally been feeding the fire! I think I need to listen to the way my body reacts and when it goes wild about a salty pungent taste I will know the reason it is acting in a kind of triggered way is because I’m stoking the fire with exactly the wrong, highly combustible fuel. It’s hard to give up those tastes though.
Thank you so much Clare for detailed explanation. You are the best. You did much better than many ayurvedic doctors. Thank you for explaining each taste's element.
@@Clareminded I have been looking for detailed information like you provided in this video. I'm Vatta-Pitta combination and have always sturggled with food selections and weather adjustment.
A lot of the avoids I either didn't enjoy eating or was phasing out because they were causing troubles, and this was before I started learning about the doshas 🤯
Interesting. All the nuts listed are to avoided on the blood type diet. Through my experience, the body is so intelligent, it will guide you to what it needs. We humans have forgotten how to use this technology.
Thank you! I got into aryuveda about a year ago and was so heavy pitta dominant that I adjusted my diet to sooth that heavy pitta aggrivated energy I carried around. Just found out that I now lean more towards vatta/pitta, which made a lot more sense since all the very 'cold' and 'raw' things for pitta made me sometimes a little too cold. This video really helped me understand this dual dosha a lot better, thank you so much :)
Hallo Clare! Thanks for the video, it was very helpful! It's very interesting cause I was actually eating what you recommend intuitively. But I have a question if I can drink matcha if I'm Vata Pitta?
Hi Oksana! So glad you enjoyed this video, and yes! Very intuitive of you. :) Matcha is fine for vata/pitta. If you find it brings you too much of a "high" you can add a date or use plant milk and cardamom to help balance it. Blend all together. :)
Love hearing this! Past all the food lists, it really comes down to how your body feels in each new moment, and it's constantly changing too! Very glad tot hear you're tuning in
I find I need some grass-fed beef once in a while, and the best time for that is early in the a.m. Then yes, the most difficult foods for (but somewhat necessary for my predominant vata and a lot of pitta) such as naturally-sweet whole wheat (non-GMO God willing), pasta, rice, or starchy vegetables can be eaten freshly cooked around 10 ir 11 but before 2 p.m. Then dinner should be early and light. This makes sense. Thanks!
I usually mix fresh Turmeric with milk and a pinch of Trikatu or Black Pepper in a small blender for anti-inflammatory effects. Being a Pitta-Vata dosha, this overheats my body, especially during the Summer. What can I combine with fresh Turmeric to reduce “Pitta” aggravation?
I find ghee helps to cool and spread the turmeric well and date sugar is also cooling. But I can’t do turmeric too close to bed without a dry throat. Shatavari will nourish you as well in combo
Very helpful thank you, though Im not happy about the chocolate and coffee bit!!, so no dark chocolate? You say no raw garlic, what about cooked garlic, I love garlic!?
Why avoid peanuts? It seems like peanuts are demonized all around due to some people having allergies or some peanuts having mold. But if there’s no mold or allergies, why avoid them? Aren’t they grounding, in moderation?
Loved your video. Excellent delivery! Question: I believe that I am mainly Pitta with second dosha Vatta. Does this video apply to me, as it is reversed order.
Ever since I stumbled across Ayurveda, I’ve noticed that the foods that come recommended for my dosha type are ones that I already gravitate toward naturally. Strange!
If I start working on system for some time, I get join pains in my finger joint especially index finger...pain and uncomfort on hands...please suggest solution......my body is already pitta type as I take seasme seeds, raggi my body gers heated up and top of it, I have vatta dosha seems to be...both are making my life abnormal...I started taking ashwagandha but it was increasing heat in the body making problems worst
This has been great thank you. My vata is way too high right now. Any chance you would like to join a virtual retreat im hosting. All you would need to do is link one of these videos explaining the doshas to beginners?
Great video's loving them!! I am Vata predominant with a little Pitta but going though menopause....a few hot flushes (I read that to avoid these I must follow a Pitta diet so hence why I'm looking at this vid). I am trying to cut caffeine out, and my beloved red wine. I am a vegan and eat whole foods generally....thank you! Its really cool to have found your channel and now I will spend hours listening to your advice!! PS, do you think it is worth me going to a Ayuvedic Doctor or professional in UK at some point to find out exactly what I need to do? Its a bit expensive so I don't want to waste my money. I can try eating right first? 😍
How does Ayurveda feel about kombucha??? Can someone help me with this I drank it ever since I was little my grandma made it it’s really healthy but not sure
I recently discovered I am VP type and to my surprise I mostly don't like the taste of most foods you recommended to avoid. except for icecream and chocolates :D
What should I do if I’m a vata- pitta person .. with too much Vata at the moment (so totally disregulated .. I have anxiety, headaches, heavy head and no roots at all, dandruff , insomnia , overthinking, etc ).
Thank you for this! I did a test and it said 76% vata 76% pitta 40% kapha. A lot of this make sense to me, I listen a lot to my body and what it wants and I do prefer fruit and veggies. I can't eat rice at all and not artichokes then I get into a terrible stomach pain. But I am also obsesses with eating black pepper every day, I love it so much! And even do I don't eat super strong food I am growing a huge amount of chili peppers, can I eat the ones that is not super strong? Or is it just a waste of my time with this hobby of mine? I do have a lot of diseases and it was a bit sad to see that I can't drick ice cold water. I do love water and I drink a lot but I can't drink it at a room temperature it makes me wanna throw up so is there anyway I can go around this or do I have to drink only tea to get healthy and get my ama strong?
I would suggest eating food that is in alignment with the seasons, what nature naturally provides at certain times of the year. As for cold water, anything cold suppresses agni, our digestive fire, which decreases our ability to digest, absorb, and assimilate food. warm water and tea help increase agni, and decrease ama. :) Hope this helps!
@@Clareminded Thank you , yes I do that already. Ok so no more cold drinks if I want to feel good or better than I do now then :( That is kind of depressing actually :( So what happens then if I don't drink enough cause I will for sure drink very small amount if it is just tea, will that destroy something else? I now drink around 2½-3 liters a day te and water together and if only tea it might be around 3 dl a day and some days nothing. I did see that milk is ok but that you never have in room temperature, at least not here in Sweden as it is only fresh milk that will go sour. Do I have to heat that up as well?
All this makes sense to me, one site said I’m this and another said I’m just pitta. Also can anyone tell me if they’ve done Ayurveda along with a blood type diet etc?
Thank you very much Clare. I am new to Ayurveda and I recently discovered that I am a Vatta-Pitta type BUT I don't think that I can quit spicy food. I love chili peppers, black pepper & fresh ginger. Not in excess but I tend to eat a bit spicy whenever possible. I wonder if I can get away without quitting it. Peace!
Yes that is totally ok!! These guidelines aren’t hard and fast stops, just guidance. Spicy food is ok sometimes, but when you feel pitta symptoms start to pop up, that’s when you can limit the spicy food more
in moderation they're totally fine. Walnuts do tend to be slightly drier, compared to cashews for example, so walnuts would be better for pitta, versus vata. Because vata is already dry. Of course, it all comes back to how they make you feel and if you have an imbalance currently. :)
As an Indian very proud to see glory of ayurveda reviving !
