jazzygamer 109 Me, I have three. I also "collect" games. It's in quotes because I don't care about completionism I just care about games I actually want to play. So, not quite a collector.
Mate we all did! I remember buying it back then. I think it was on for about 2 weeks with all my saves (of a single game lol). That day my mom started cleaning the house and accidentally pulled of the plug... Shit happens... However, ps2 left only good memories in my mind. Sadly my ps2s rottor died about 6 months ago and I can't play any games as the disc doesnt spin :(
Dude the fact that it played DVDs was HOT. Standalone DVD players cost upwards of $500 when the PS2 dropped for $299.99. I had the DVD remote control, too. Shit was so cash.
@Ray Robinson my PS2 was all the DVD player I needed until the PS3 dropped, and then that had the Bluray, Sony was smart as hell building that in. I worked at CompUSA when the PS3 hit and it was cheaper than standalone Bluray players just like the PS2 and DVD players. Half the PS3s I sold were to people that had zero intention of ever buying a PS3 game, all they cared about was Bluray. I suspect a lot of early PS2 buyers were similar.
i ran it through my vcr so i could record the DVDs to VHS when i rented them. one time my mom tried to record a show in my room via vcr timer and i forgot it was set up that way. Instead of getting what she intended she got 2 hours of a tank terrorizing liberty city lolololol

Poor... Or wise? Gaming was better on the PS2... You got the whole game, on a disk, no DLC, microtransactions, paywalls etc. It's all bullshit now. Games are getting ever more dumbed down, and devs are getting more and more greedy.

Tekken 5, SoulCalibur 2, and DraognBall Z: Budokai 3 - Pretty much my entire teen gaming years right there. The PS2 was definitely the best console for fighting games back in the day.
I enjoyed tekken 5 so much I mastered every character, to the point where no one wanted to challenge me. Ahhhhhhhhhh the onslaught of juggles made people cry and me happy because these were the same people who thought they were some Tekken gods. Until they tasted the mighty random character selection and laughed at me as they chose their ultimate character and losing to this selection (?) And it did take me at least one month no game no life 24/7 to perfect it all. Ahhhhhh those were the good old days, now I'd probably get ransacked around 😂😂😂😂 by the past me for sure. I remember a few characters now like Jin , Paul , and Law .. oh oh oh and Marduk.. dont like the latest Tekken series except Tag 2..

If you think that is amazing, the spinning orbs actually represented the time, check this out: gaming.wikia.com/wiki/PlayStation_2_internal_display_clock Imo this is so amazing, it should have been stated in the video too
Ps2 could be bought in Brazil before this official release in the country as an imported item. I have my PS2 since 2002 and bought here, but it was more expensive.
In hindsight, the PS2 existed in a special era where devs had a pretty good idea of how to make a game be fun and engaging, but while the publishers allowed them to take risks and be as creative as possible. It wasn’t like now where there’s so many different revenue streams. The only way to make money from a game was to sell as many copies as possible. Given the gaming media was far less saturated, It made getting genuine consensus of what a game was actually like easier. So it really mattered to publishers how fun and unique the experience was. Now there’s more revenue streams and so much more money in gaming, the focus is more on making (and funding) less creative, “safe” games to maximise profits. Don’t get me wrong, the best of the best nowadays are the best games ever made, and there’s a bustling “indie” game market for those looking for a more interesting experience. However, there is less “space” in the mainstream than there uses to be. That’s partially down to the number of dev studios being bought out and shut down/going bust. Publishers and devs know this. But instead of investing in new ideas, new ip’s, it’s far easier/safer to remaster an old game and re-release it.
damn. I miss the good old days when you'd buy a full game for £20.... AND WOULDN'T HAVE TO SPEND £150 FOR THE REST OF IT! **cough cough** CALL OF DUTY!
God... I miss it. Holding that blue plastig thing, so excited to come home and play it.... Now, *click* *downloaded* "Ok lets play" i miss the anticipation to play :(
Joystick Stereo EXACTLY! Jak 3 my favorite. Even though alot of people would say the first game I just like 2 and 3 more because of: interseting characters like torn and ashley and that floatong fat guy, 2 and 3 got guns gives player more options to how they play the game, both had more and better story and I feel like 2 and 3 were harder and I like a challange! ESPECIALY 2
The joke's really gonna be on them. I got mine for free when I was volunteering at a place that didn't take electronics and I asked for it and went home with it.
The PlayStation 2 was the perfect console. It had a plethora of games, DVD playability, and it looked sleek as hell. Although there are many great games I did play, my all-time favorite PS2 game is God of War ll. I was awe-struck when I first played it. Many fond memories. In my opinion, the PS2 was the best console from top to bottom. Games nowadays look amazing but those PS2 games will always hold a place in my gamer-heart.
i was 7 when i got my first PS2 it was the top of technology back in the days first game i played was crazy taxi it came for free with the PS2 then i play PS2 for a long time but whenever i stop playing when i comeback my completion was back to zero coz i didn't hear about a memory card then i bought the memory card and i beat the Shrek game ahhhhhhhh good times
The days when there were unlockable extras and no DLC. Good times. Good times.
Uhh dlc's are great and unlockable extras still exist, dlc's are just free extra content. (If you play good games)
dlc are from the 90s

Adam Shalashaska You missed out on Metal Gear Online
Cactusmolester why waste time on the online when the Single player story was the best in the series. Yea no desire to touch the online, pretty much how i feel right now
Socom II definitely had the biggest online where the servers normally filled with thousands of players every day?
who else like burnout 3 takedown and its soundtrack?
TsunamiSerigade That game was my childhood. That and Sly Cooper Series

@@adammallory7973 Yup lol
@@MyRockHoMama It was. I'm proud to say that I still have my Ps2 since I was 9 or 10 years old. Just need controllers and the game itself. I have the memory cards.
@BIG MAYATE Need for speed should never be mentioned when it comes this kind of game lol.
Simpsons hit & run 4 the win.
Roblox friendly game
That was the game
Dylan John Cahill I have that on my Xbox but its a great game!

The day my ps2 broke was a horrible day. I'm still upset and its been 10 years
Woo 9k 😢😢😢
Ya but it wasn't really a big deal if you had memory cards. New consol and your ready to rock.
Mine stopped reading the discs lol I would give out too after thousands of hours of being on.
Y'all realize the ps2 had a lifetime warranty. Send it back they'll fix it. I've done it twice. Second time they sent me a new ps2 still in the box.
Diamond Lou I'll have to check into that would be nice if true I've never opened mine it sometimes gives me shit reading disks. Not that I really need it I still got my fatty that plays ps2 games.
GTA vice city was my fav game to play on ps2
Numbers Stations same
Vice city was and still is my favorite game too
Same! I actually bought my Ps2 just to play that game.. and Gran Turismo 3
Mine too
i got it, i liked san andreas , played xcalibre 3 ? lol
I still play on my PS2 because I'm poor :(
commenting this on a 9000 dollar gaming laptop lol
G K Lol good for you buddy.
it's not that I can't eat but I have to handle my own shit at 19. Father and mother don't work. Not too bad for me tho :)
Poor... Or wise? Gaming was better on the PS2... You got the whole game, on a disk, no DLC, microtransactions, paywalls etc. It's all bullshit now. Games are getting ever more dumbed down, and devs are getting more and more greedy.
G K you spent 9000 dollars on a laptop... why? You could get an extremely high quality one for 2000.
Edit: Also looked at your channel, and your clearly lying
G K you fool.... you could have gotten a desktop that would've been able to play top of the line games 10 years from now with that money....
Who still has a ps2? I do.
I sold mine )=
I have 2 : D
I have 7 lol
DarKx Slay3Rx why lol
Jordan Ant why not lol
Tekken 5, SoulCalibur 2, and DraognBall Z: Budokai 3 - Pretty much my entire teen gaming years right there. The PS2 was definitely the best console for fighting games back in the day.
GlitchManOmega Tekken 5 4life
GTA sa and Vice city also
I enjoyed tekken 5 so much I mastered every character, to the point where no one wanted to challenge me.
@@surmize4101 I got tekken 5 dr online on ps3 it's dead tho so I mastering all characters on arcade mode :(

The PlayStation 2 was the first console I ever owned. It was the Sega genesis of the 2000s.
lol My first console was the Atari 2600.

Need for speed most wanted
Toonsify Best of all nfs franchise. Much better than payback
What about underground 2? nfs underground 2 was my number one favorite and most played ps2 game. I was a legend at it and always beat everyone who played with me. I played nfs underground 2 for all 9 of my ps2 years until i got my ps3.
Toonsify I've been on the very last Milestone for years. Last mission for me to get 100%
Need for speed most wanted 1 is on ps2?I legit thought it came only on the first xbox
The graphics on most wanted blew me away because at the time it came out, the graphics were comparable to the Xbox 360 graphics at the time
As a teen, the only clear and fond memory of my father's PS2 (that still works to this day) is me and my brother just playing Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2, both co-op and War Mode. Such good times...
PS2 was perfect
MONCEF DEX It STILL is simply because of the range of games.

ArcadeGaming game was life
You don't need much if you have that game. As someone who had tons of PS2 games. One of the best that was, easily.
ArcadeGaming same dude battlefront 2 was the shit back then. I have an Xbox one and I bought both battlefront 2's. I prefer the 2005 version though. I play it more than the new one
Original battlefront games were awesome. New ones suck ass.
when ps2 officially came to brazil everybody already had one
THE THING ABOUT THE TOWERS! OMG! THATS AMAZING

Exactly. Had no idea.
If you think that is amazing, the spinning orbs actually represented the time, check this out:

what means the red startup for PS2 corrupted save file or hardware issue ?

The PS2 was in Brazil long ago before 2009 but they were imported. It was great sucess in the whole country :)
I had mine long before then too.
They were expensive tho. But yea, I got mine in 2004
i got mine in 2005, it wasn't so expensive
Guilherme Sacramoni Pretty sure he meant officially imported, and made for the country. Not grey market.
Ps2 could be bought in Brazil before this official release in the country as an imported item. I have my PS2 since 2002 and bought here, but it was more expensive.
Célio Azevedo hook me up with a brazilian girl
lol
Célio Azevedo me too but u didn't add PES
comprei o meu em 2005 e não foi tão caro
Era isso o que eu ia dizer. Esses gringos falam do Brasil como se a gente andasse só de fusquinha e usasse Nokia tijolão.
But instead of investing in new ideas, new ip’s, it’s far easier/safer to remaster an old game and re-release it.
ps2 has, by far, the greatest library of games ever. amazing memories
damn. I miss the good old days when you'd buy a full game for £20....
AND WOULDN'T HAVE TO SPEND £150 FOR THE REST OF IT!
**cough cough** CALL OF DUTY!
Desantos123 UK Destiny is a bigger culprit
God... I miss it. Holding that blue plastig thing, so excited to come home and play it.... Now, *click* *downloaded* "Ok lets play" i miss the anticipation to play :(
Desantos123 UK inflation also affected the price lol sooo
shit, games back then were 60+ dollaz back then so no
Veroxzes your point makes no sense
My absolute two favorite PS2 games are Star Wars Battlefront II and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I still play them to this day.
Blake god of war
Msg and kingkong is the best
Blake hell yeah, although the HD version or the Nintendo 3ds version of mgs3 snake eater subsistence is quite a bit better
I rank them beside Skyrim.
Blake Soul Caliber 2 is pretty great

Jak & Daxter trilogy
Joystick Stereo
FINALLY!! I'm so sick of the Ratchet Supremacists lol Jak and Daxter trilogy was THE BEST
ESPECIALY 2
Joystick Stereo my favourite game ever
Personally I liked Medievil 2
Joystick Stereo I loved the that series and still play it time to time
The Warriors. Now that was a game I truly enjoyed on the PS2.

God of war 2 is to ps2 what God of war 3 is to ps3 and god of war is to ps4
Spider-Man 2 on PS2, Hulk Ultimate Destruction, and the Prince of Person series are among my favorites.
Tunde prince of persia
