well, make it 5-10 years ,nowadays many games need 16 GB of ram and also people who work on 4k editing need at least 32gb of ram.
@@skive720 except, there barely exists any games that need more than 8, probably only one of the tomb raider games, linus tech tips made a video about it, but you should get 16GB if you wanna be future proof, have more than 1 monitor and background tasks like google, Spotify, skype, discord etc.

And there are professional CD printers that can make the label.
But anyways, I know what you meant. Nobody's gonna get their hands on professional equipment to make an exact replica today.
It’s actually a dark blue
The black color is not for copy protection. The protection and region locking were encoded in a wobble on the disc which could not be replicated on a cd-r.

It kind of started going downhill the moment consoles on mass had internet access, so PS3 and Xbox 360, with that, it made it easy for developers to have micro transaction, release games in a beta form whiles patching it up at a later date and releasing dlc which a lot of which are just pure rubbish at crazy prices.
Does anyone remember that games used to just work out of the box before consoles got net access?, even on the PC most games just worked out of the box before thoes consoles, it suggest that developers change how they develop games after that and in some ways for the worse, it also shows that games even on the PC before that worked out of the box without needing a patch to fix them which is impressive considering how much hardware choice PC gamers have always had, so yeah things have gone down hill because the the masses have internet access which makes it easier for developers to ship games out in any state they want and fix the game later whiles in many cases releasing games and holding contents out and adding it in as dlc contents, making it overall more expensive for gamers.
and post launch paid dlc that you know could have been included in game but not just to nickel and dime

I remember waiting in line for 7 hours to buy a PS2. When we got there we were almost the last ones there. Just one more person got one and thankfully it was a kid who saved his allowance and birthday money. A lawyer showed up 20 minutes till midnight and begged anyone to sell theirs or their spot for the last offer of $1,200. Just because he was such an ass he didn't get one. Such a great time.

Mmmm, true. When I got my 1st cell phone, a flip phone, I was able to go a week easy without charging the phone. I could probably go 3 weeks or more without a charge, but I didn't want to go that long at the time. I could probably go a month or more if I had 5 bars all the time when I got my phone new, but I didn't.

@@yzuko59 sounds like you ended up with a bad controller or something. Because, if you have the controller plugged in all the time, it shouldn't take a week or more to fully charge. Edit: either that or the item your plugging your controller into is under a certain amount of miliamps.

There were some errors in this video.
1. Playstation 2 was not the first system with analouge sticks on the controller. Playstation got a slim version called Playstation One which had analouge sticks on the controller as well.
2. Playstation 3 shipped with Sixaxis controllers first, and they didn't have rumble motors in them because of a dispute between companies. Later they started shipping with Dualshock 3 controllers which had the vibrators.
3. Playstation 3 came in 2 different versions, the one with crome details actually had a 60GB HDD not a 20GB. That was the budget version.

AMA Composite can only go up to 480i or whatever the PAL/SECAM equivalent is (576i, I believe?). Component RCA cables have a max resolution of 1080p. The PS2 can output a max of 1080i, though not natively.

No matter how good the PS3-PS4 or the PS5 is there no console out there other then the PS2 that really felt right. The hard sweat and blood that we all put in to get the highest scores or just to find a Glitch that made the game more fun. But In the new consoles you really don’t see that. You know what they say life just one big game and rules where meant to be broken,broken to the point where we get to see and learn new things about the game and the way we can make the game better. PS2 will all ways be in My heart and hey don’t get me wrong I do love the others consoles it just doesn’t have that feeling like the PS2 did.

Spoopy Skeleton Sam As a PC Gamer myself I find the online very unreliable compared to the consoles. Though I don't get hacked very often, I remember when someone reset my rank to zero (Black ops 2). I find myself playing with cheaters/hackers most of the time.
Nothing can compete with Consoles when it comes to updates because they update automatically when on standby. PCs can't.
Though the I would have to agree, aiming with a mouse requires almost no skill.

The PS2 unit design was based on an unreleased/unused unit design for the Atari Falcon computer (dating around '93 '94) so not very modern at all!
The ps2 didn't have Spiderman font
a few mistakes. 1) the ps1 did have controllers with analog sticks prior to ps2. not at launch but prior to ps2. 2)also ps3 did not have vibrators at first due to some copyright issue.
Yep! PS1 got the Dual Shock controller, and the PS2 controller is the Dual Shock 2. I have a white Dual Shock that I still use.
As well as 1080i support on the PS2.
@@ericwood3709 They must have had dual shock in the later PS1's. The original didn't have a dual shock or analogue. A little bit after release, I then bought an analogue controller without dual shock that had cupped plastic thumb pads and not the rubberised dome ones. This was long before the PSone was released.

But you have to remember that while the PS1 did only last five years in mainstream success (1995-2000), the PS2 lasted thirteen years (2000-2013) and the PS3 lasted nine years (2006-2015). Plus the PS4's lifespan isn't even three years yet so this is just the console's beginning for about a decade long generation.

Well, PS1 CD copy protection doesn't come from the black coloring. Infrared laser will read it just fine.
The real deal was the specific wobble that was encoded on the disc that cannot be replicated by a CD burner.

They removed backward compatibility on purpose to increase console sales, but with CFW's such as REBUG, they remove this limitation and allow you to play any previous gen game as long as it's on a CD. and what has Sony done to counter that? ban all access to PSN, etc. people should know better than to support that greedy company.

RGB doesn't carry beyond 720, my guys. Gamecube also had RGB(Component).
theoretically the ps3 cpu is faster than the ps4 cpu in specific workloads :p the issue though is that it requires some technical wizardry to use the ps3 cpu usefully which they only started getting the hang of right at the end of its lifecycle

You played and enjoyed the games. The game's didn't play or enjoy you. They ALL functioned offline, DRM free. Didn't rely on DLC or require constant updates and patches.
No micro transactions, season passes. Internet was not required. Headphones were not a fashion statement, or for screaming into, and were best used to listen to your favourite songs, very LOUD!
What we've gained on the roundabout, we've lost on the swing's. It isn't gaming anymore, it's "WHO's got the largest wallet?" A hit or miss, stagnant mess hiding behind fake progress and innovation.
The 90s were better, and more exciting times for gamer's!

I agree with you to a certain extent. Yes I loved my old consoles *they're older than me* and we've learned to appreciate them, but as everything we know everything eventually gets upgraded because people want more and companies compete with each each other too...you want your item to be better than your competitors right?
Plus the storage was not always full all the time when you download free or purchased games from the PS store. I always have to delete a game or two when the updates for my favorite game is downloading.

Many RUclipsrs who are gamers lived and played video games during their childhoods. Now, I suppose many of these ( at least the ones with good AND diversified content (meaning they cover many games and not just a few), lived in the 90s and early 2000s. Some of those game have newer versions and, besides that, those RUclipsrs have great appreciation for those games. What follows is, I think, that now we have a great database of content with remakes, remasters, and just the vanilla version of any games, being reviewed because of how popular they were or how important they were to the reviewer. The best example, for me, is Gmanlives, a RUclipsr who covers a wide range of FPS games. A Pattern I see in his videos are that he thinks 90s games are just the most fun. I Suppose that Nostalgia is great factor, yes, but also the fact that these games contain no bullshit whatsoever regarding it's attitude to the player. They are just meant to be enjoyed. I think he even refuses to review some games which don't incorporate this spirit. I am mentioning all of this because it has attracted my attention to those 90s First Person shooters, even letting me consider acquiring a platform which will let me play those games better than my cellphone or more comfortable than my computer.
I Have also considered this because of a simple fact: Hardware is just available. In whatever device you are reading this, you can probably emulate ALMOST ALL of the 90s and maybe early 2000s platforms. If this is not the case, then getting something like a PSP and cracking it to be able to emulate other platforms is not that hard or expensive (considering particularly second hand ones). There are tons of content (Again, RUclips. Do you see a pattern here?) that will guide on how to do it.
Finally Price, which comes along the convenience. Compare going to google and search something along the lines of " rom download" and having a new game within seconds and with ridiculous low effort with going to a physical store, having to pick and pay for a game or with going to your platform's store and digitally buying a license for a game. Which option seems to take less effort, time and money? This is my point.
Another point could be that the Children who played video games are now adults and so have the money to spend on their nostalgia. But this is debatable, I guess.
What I just said is very personal. It is what is inclining me to play old games. What has actually been stopping me is that I have a gaming platform and not much time available, so I don't want to acquire a new platform and having to divide my time like that.

@@wlot28 An emulator wouldn't be that hard to implement into the firmware. Especially as they just released the ps1 classic mini (or how the hell they are calling that thing) with an open source emulator running on a pretty low spec basic hardware. But if they let you play 3 generations of games natively on one device, they wouldn't be able to sell you their streaming services and their overpriced and bulky emulator box.
Clock speed is not a measure of power, it's a measure of ticks not the number of instructions determined per click. Different pipelines, instruction sets, coprocessors and cores will result in different performance.
Which is why in raw number crunching a 2.35 GHz iPhone 7 is faster than a 3.2 Ghz Xbox 360.
This shouldn't be a surprise, the Pentium 4 architecture that nearly hit 4 GHz were so inefficient and bogged down with pipelines that much slower clocked AMD chips of the era killed them in nearly every benchmark.
That said, on floating point calculations, the original Playstation ran at about 130 MFLOPs or a million floating point instructions per second. The Playstation 4 runs at about 1,843,200 MFLOPs. Making it not 43 times faster as claimed but actually a bit more than 14 thousand times more powerful at floating point calculations. (Playstation 2 - 47, Playstation 3 - 3500)
On traditional instructions, the original Playstation ran at 176 MIPs (million instructions per second) and the Playstation 4 runs at 200,000 MIPs which makes it a little more than 1100 times faster. (Playstation 2 - 11, Playstation 3 - 200).
Neither of those measures tells the whole story, but the oversimplification done for measuring of speed in this video is an inadequate measure of how powerful these newer machines are.
Sony could make it work in a heartbeat, but they won't.
Teraflops aren't a good measure between different architectures even in the same "generation".
A GTX1070 provides 6,5 Tflops on paper, RX580 do 6,17, the Vega56 do 10,5. But the GTX1070 provides practically the same gaming performance as the new Vega56, while the RX580 isn't even in the same leage.
