+LeCoolFace nah I never really liked Japanese stuff. the only things I like from Japan are MGS V: TPP and The last Airbender (no idea if it was American or Japanese)
That Panasonic GameCube was supposed to do just that. The ps2 had a built in DVD player so Nintendo tried to do the same with Sony's rival company, Panasonic, but ultimately failed. I think it was pricing in Japan, so no one bought it so they killed it off. If they sold it in the U.S market, I think it would've sold many units.
yeah I heard two reasons why Panasonic's GameCube failed. 1. Didn't support the gameboy player. 2. It cost more than buying a Nintendo's GameCube and a dvd player separately. Which two is just common sense when in marketing. While a GameCube/DVD combo is practical, most people are not that lazy. They'd rather save $50 even if that means switching the av cables between dvd player and GameCube.
The Wii was supposed to be a add-on to the GameCube. Gyroration wanted to sell their motion control patterning to someone. They first went to the gaming industry with Microsoft and SONY, but they both declined. They soon went to Nintendo on Launch Year of the GameCube. Nintendo accepted and tried on a motion controller which was similar designed to the GameCube gamepad. The only difference is the analog stick and the digital pad locations has been switched similar to the PlayStation 2 DUALSHOCK 2. The Left Handle and Analog stick breaks up with the Right Handle. Then the design went to the Wii Mote design as we know today, but the GameCube Add-on was scrapped and is now a independent console as we know today as the Wii.

Welcome to the evolution of the gaming industry. Even adjusting for inflation it's a huge difference. It sucks that we have so many money grabbing businesses now. About the stereoscopic 3D, Panasonic manufactured the add on screen. E3 2001 the GameCube was in a sealed transparent box with this screen on top off it running games. The 3D functions was turned off so no one noticed the stereoscopic display.
"It definitely worked!" He says about one of Nintendos worst selling consoles ever lol. Topped (or should I say bottomed) by only the Wii U. Even the original Xbox sold more, and it was a new brand.
Ever hear of Metroid prime, zelda twilight princess, F-zero gx even? not all of nintendo's franchises are targeted at kids and even so the games can be played by anyone. Give somebody who plays "adult orientated" games a nintendo game and they struggle to even pass the first stage...
The GameCube is the console I played all the way from elementary through graduation. Whenever I get the chance to go back home, I always play my old games. The N64, DS, and Wii didn't have the same effect on me.
gamecube is the best console I think Nintendo has ever made (based on the games it had). come on, metroid prime 1 & 2, resident evil 4, Mario sunshine, wind waker, twilight princess, and SO many others. it was just a great era for Nintendo!
The first GameCube I saw was a Panasonic one, since I live in Panama I thought at that time that they were going to be common, but nope, I saw it on display at an electronic shop .
Still have my old GC with the Twilight Princess skin. :) Such awesome games were made for it. So much joy from N64 and GC. Nowadays, most games don't bring me that same feeling. They're still fun, don't get me wrong. But there was/is just something so special and unique about N64 and GC. I'll never sell mine. Oh, and my N64 is the special Pikachu edition. Bought it when Toys R Us had them on clearance way back when. :) Good times.
When I was a kid I remember calling to nintendo support needing help years before any 3ds was announced I remember the representative asked me if I wanted to hear about upcoming projects and they told me they were working on building a 3d console. I shrugged it off being so young but low and behold 4+ years later the 3ds was announced.
main missing part from this vid? "did you know, it was rather common, and easy, to buy a replacement case for the gamecube that accepted full size disks, and that the cd drive is more than capable of reading these disks? 1:03 Well that didn't really pay off for them in the end because the system didn't play DVDs, putting it well behind the competition. I love the Gamecube and I knew plenty of people who had one, but it's hard to deny the facts.
That mirror imaging of twilight princess caught me really off-guard when I played it for the first time on a gamecube coming from the wii version. It felt so damn weird and I thought I had just remembered the game backwards somehow XD
Ok now I'm not entirely sure, but when Jake was talking about how they mirrored twilight princess, he said that the wii version was a port, which depending on how you think of it, that could be wrong. The Gamecube and Wii versions were released on the same day
Nintendo or Panasonic made a bad call not releasing the Panasonic Q in NA and the UK. Because I would have definitely got one, even if I already had a DVD player back then. It's still one of the best looking consoles I've seen.

They still sell the GTA triple pack for the PS2.

"It's just a prank bro"
+Lord Tony One of the reasons the PS2 sold so well is that when it was released it was the least expensive DVD player you could buy in Japan. Many people there bought it just to watch movies on it.
+John McMillen Oh dang. Didn't know that.
+Lord Tony I just got the new GTA triple pack for Christmas. Most PS2 games still in stores are games that no one bought for years though, if not all.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is worth the price of admission alone. Probably the best video game I've ever played. It's up there with some of the greatest films or albums I've ever experienced.
"People are forced to buy the game system to play the software" COUGH XBOX ONE AND PS4 COUGH
+Silpho I think it relates to any game system/PC actually
Surreal Gaming True, but what I'm referring to is the unnecessary jump from xbox 360 +ps3 to xbone and ps4, oh well I guess.
+Silpho what is 'unnecessary' about the jump from ps3/x360 to the current gen? The ps3 came out in 2006...so that's 7 years inbetween consoles, which is much longer then usual console lifespan. The hardware was severely outdated and they needed to be updated to give developers room to create bigger worlds and new gameplay elements which wouldn't otherwise be possible.

Lack of backwards compatibility for starters? Wii U did it for gamecube AND wii (GC is homebrew but still).
One of my favorite channels
game cube can play game boy and game boy advance games with an atatchment on the bottom.
About the stereoscopic 3D, Panasonic manufactured the add on screen. E3 2001 the GameCube was in a sealed transparent box with this screen on top off it running games. The 3D functions was turned off so no one noticed the stereoscopic display.
what the fuq was the thumbnail even supposed to attract or show
+RBDphilosophy it is a 2001 GameCube ad, Sony is not the only one with weird commercials ya know.
RBDphilosophy now I know where the term clickbait comes from.
Love your vids man. :)
"It definitely worked!" He says about one of Nintendos worst selling consoles ever lol. Topped (or should I say bottomed) by only the Wii U. Even the original Xbox sold more, and it was a new brand.
Nintendo fans had the last laugh since the GameCube had better games
***** The games were steller regardless of ones age, I'm an adult and like many others I still enjoy playing the gamecube
Ever hear of Metroid prime, zelda twilight princess, F-zero gx even? not all of nintendo's franchises are targeted at kids and even so the games can be played by anyone. Give somebody who plays "adult orientated" games a nintendo game and they struggle to even pass the first stage...
The gamecube had some good games for sure. Fire Emblem Path of Radiance was my favorite personally.
That's a little close minded but ok...
The GC is one of my favorite consoles. I wish it was more supported but still, I had a lot of fun on that console.
The first GameCube I saw was a Panasonic one, since I live in Panama I thought at that time that they were going to be common, but nope, I saw it on display at an electronic shop .
loved it. subscribed. thankyou.
that thumbnail is literally me when i'm on a 72-hour gamecube binge
3:59 same sound like in Pokémon Trap Remix (Psychic Type - Victory Road) - Pokémon GO Song at the last drop
I shrugged it off being so young but low and behold 4+ years later the 3ds was announced.

there are 10 gamecube startup things including the 2 you mentioned.
The Gamecube is just so... charming for some reason
main missing part from this vid?
"did you know, it was rather common, and easy, to buy a replacement case for the gamecube that accepted full size disks, and that the cd drive is more than capable of reading these disks? "
this was commonpractice, both for piracey and functionality. if i remember correctly they handle dvd/audio cd's no trouble once free of there tiny cased prison. pull the board out the box and find out for yourself :)
Someone dressed up as a Pikmin and ate a bowl of worms just to get a GameCube a couple days early? (Slowly exits life)
THE INTRO OMG THE ONE THING I NEED FOR THE IM HOME VIBE
nice video. I did not know of the four controller startup sound. I wonder if two or three controllers also make different sounds?
If that "Do Anything for a GameCube" thing was done today, I guarantee there would be at least one death attributed to it.
4:15 search 'Virtual Boy'. Nintendo still has pages dedicated to setting up a virtual boy console. Never mind, the link to the Virtual Boy Setup page is www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/virtualboy/hookups.jsp.

RIP Satoru Iwata. We'll miss you.
Such a charming and underrated system.
The Gamecube made me and my brothers childhoods but the three games we had was Mario Kart Double Dash, Sonic Riders, and Ed Edd Eddy Misadventure. Yeah we didn't had much but it made our past great.
earned a new subscriber 👍👍
1:03 Well that didn't really pay off for them in the end because the system didn't play DVDs, putting it well behind the competition. I love the Gamecube and I knew plenty of people who had one, but it's hard to deny the facts.
+Brad Laws it's not made to be an entertainment system, only a game system. hence GAME cube. it's a cube that plays games.
***** Yeah but the lack of the DVD player is the reason it was 3rd in sales. That's all I'm saying.
+Brad Laws but 3:04 played DVD's but it wasn't world wide released.
That mirror imaging of twilight princess caught me really off-guard when I played it for the first time on a gamecube coming from the wii version. It felt so damn weird and I thought I had just remembered the game backwards somehow XD
PLEASE some more GameCube facts or videos :))
3:51 that the funniest thing I have heard all day.
I'm watching a 60 second ad I can't skip, this video better be good.
that sux
+Gumdropsqueak then how did I have a 60 second one?
Ok now I'm not entirely sure, but when Jake was talking about how they mirrored twilight princess, he said that the wii version was a port, which depending on how you think of it, that could be wrong. The Gamecube and Wii versions were released on the same day
i seen the video and the whole thing too!
I came for the thumbnail and so did you.
Nintendo or Panasonic made a bad call not releasing the Panasonic Q in NA and the UK. Because I would have definitely got one, even if I already had a DVD player back then. It's still one of the best looking consoles I've seen.
