Sticking to my 2015 SHF Luke over this release. That Gamorrean facial sculpt does a disservice to that excellent new body mold.

Love this figure. I think the hair does a lot to make it look better than the Lightcruiser version despite sharing the same headsculpt. Ultimately, I like the BoBF head best. That one really does look a lot like the CGI Mark Hamill, for better or worse. I will also say, other than their original RotJ Luke, all of the SH Figuarts Lukes look spot on. That Lightcruiser Figuarts Luke looks spooky accurate. 😂
That’s fair I think farm boy Luke from SHF is pretty spot on too. But even Hot Toys have some Luke’s that got you squinting to see the likeness lol. Thanks for watching! -Nate
i'm gonna disagree on the first line. I own both figures and i think the Lightcruiser one looks better. My reason for that is mostly cuz the paint applications look marginally better, specially in the eyes. I think the hair looks more accurate to most of the movie than this one, since it's look is after the fight with vader when his hais is all messed up. Tho something the mando one failed big is not giving a better wash on the hair, and apparently earlier releases were even worse considering the reviewers one is super bright looking and basically no wash. In the end of the day, the BoBF looks better Black Series wise and the SHF solos, tho if you don't have the money never get a bootleg one, the Black Series will look better than that monstrosity
It looks great, but I just can't justify buying I after buying the Mando one recently. One of my fav. figs btw

Yes! Getting both this version of Luke and the updated Vader without his mask and chopped off hand we can now finally recreate the climatic end-scene of ROTJ in 6” scale. Been waiting forever for both and they came in the same wave. TVC got there too with the latest Vader, but we still need this Luke with the flap in TVC to wrap it all up for both scales. Great review and can’t wait to get this Luke. Pulse is still way behind EE and other retailers, so I hope it won’t be too much longer. 😁

I think what would have made the product worthy of purchase for me is the addition of the Imperial cuffs so it could add to the Bunker and Throne Room dioramas. I also believe that the cardback, as much as it pays homage to the Kenner days, is not matching the figure inside the bubble. VC23 used an image of Luke from the bunker as he surrenders to Vader which, I think, would have been appropriate.
And yes, Mark Hamill’s portrait is somehow difficult to get properly despite being easy to recognise.
Yeah it all has to do with the name of the figure. "Jedi Knight" Luke means they'll use the "Jedi Knight" Kenner card. Although to be fair they could've just called it Endor Capture and used that cardback, lol. Thanks for watching, ScolioReset! -Justin
It’s weird. New Hope ceremony head. Great. Bespin. Great. Hoth Snow Speeder. Great. Endor. OK with the helmet on. These last two - strangely a bit off. Makes no sense.

It's not just Hasbro either. I even think some of the Sideshow Mark liknesses have been iffy at best. -Justin

Randomely found this one in a store today and being the big Luke and ROTJ fan that I am and having gotten Light Cruiser Luke earlier in the year, I just had to get him when I saw him. Didn't even know you can replace the flap!
Definitely happy about my purchase.
really love this figure. I really thought it'd actually beat out the shfiguarts version as the best Luke but sadly the face didn't quite get there. still a great figure and glad to have it on the shelf.

Solid looking Luke, can't wait to get him. The detail is great, those boots almost look like they're leather. And love the flap shirt. Am I the only person who had one back in the day? Oh sweet nostalgia....

Definitely one of my favorite Luke outfits! Really would love to see an updated Jabba’s Palace Luke on this body, but sadly I fear that figure will be forever exclusive to the HasLab Rancor.
I have a feeling they’ll eventually make one, because at the time they specifically said the card back was exclusive. They’ll probably wait a few years, sadly
It has been pretty much made already, since that the Mandalorian Luke is almost that look (you would only need to swap the right hand for a flesh color hand, remove the belt deco on the sash, give him a brown robe and include the blaster), give it a few years that they need to pack a Luke in a wave that has a slot and it may be released.
Jing did say it's exclusive to the Rancor and there are no plans to release that figure! Kinda odd, lol. -Justin
The sculpt is there for the head. The issue is lack of paint apps…this past year, hasbro has quietly skimped on face paint apps. It’s gotten to the point where some give a pre photoreal era vibe. Surprised no one has noticed the increasingly lack of paint on these new figures faces
Good points. Some of the photo-real faces this year have been pretty great though. Bastila, Malak, Malgus, even something like Bix and Luthen. -Justin

If the Luke & Grogu sets go on clearance at Target, I might grab a couple to do a head-swap. Yeah, same face sculpt, but the photoreal application just looks better on the BoBF set.

Hasbro needs to use a harder plastic for the lightsabers.
They are always warped within a day of me posing my figures. Especially the double bladed ones.

Im more a fan of Luke Skywalker Outfit at the beginning from ROTJ, its more Jedi imo

Just put a brown cloak onto the mando luke figure.
I got mine yesterday and I really like his face aside. I plan on getting a second and removing the hair piece then giving it the poncho and helmet from the endor Luke, already checked and the poncho does fit on this new one

Looking at those 3 Luke figures at @6:12 I think the 40th RotJ (middle) and Light Cruiser (right) head sculpts look terrible, but the one from the Luke/Grogu 2-pack (left) looks like the best Luke head sculpt Hasbro has ever created in my opinion. At least from this front angle.
I have the Light Cruiser version and the head looks like a cheap Happy Meal toy version compared to the Book of Boba Fett Luke/Grogu 2-pack version. Contemplating buying the Luke/Grogu 2-pack to do a headswap....
I still think Dagobah Luke is the best head they ever did for Luke. At this point I don’t think it’ll be topped! Thanks for watching! -Nate

Hello Nate I wanted to thank you for sharing your thoughts on the new Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary figure.
This figure of Luke always held a special place in my heart ever since the original Kenner figure was released in the early 80's. And the originals didn't have facial details like black series figures do today.
This figure of Luke does have sad eyes, but that might work if he is placed next to his dying father Darth Vader with his helmet removed.
I'm looking forward to getting my Luke who is sitting in my loot pile at BBTS at this moment. My pile will have to ship in about two weeks or so.

I thought the exposed butterfly joints would bother me, but they didn't and the figure looks really nice overall. Too bad the face just isn't quite Mark Hamill, though that new incredible Luke mold and new hairpiece (with a wash!) more than make up for it.

As far as I know they're just a pair of tweezers. You can get them at the store. -Justin

I just got this guy today myself. I’m happy with it, it works well in the display. Be honest with me, should I get a second return of the Jedi Han, because I like with and without the coat. Is it worth getting a second one.
I mean...that is a great Han figure. I only have one ROTJ Han myself. That'd be totally up to you if you like both looks! -Justin
Cool review Nate, I got the mando Luke and I’m pretty happy that one as a fairly decent effort for jabbas palace (I know he’s not accurate but I’m ok with that) this one does look great though and the flap is a sweet touch

I have the SHF Jedi Luke. I've never liked the face sculpt(s) on that. Their farmboy Luke is way better.
You said the Mando Luke face sculpt is one of the best ever and that the Jedi Luke face sculpt looks nothing like him yet you mention they’re the same exact sculpts. I’m confused!
Different hair and paint apps make a world of difference between the two even if they share the same face sculpt. Also saying “one of the best mark hamill likenesses in the black series” isn’t really saying much considering most Luke’s look nothing like Mark 😂. Thanks for watching! -Nate

The I had high hopes that this was going to unseat Dagobah Luke as the best Hamil likeness in the black series. The glam shots that they put out at first made the face look better than it turned out for sure.
It’s not as good as the Dagobah figure in terms of likeness but I don’t dislike it as much as you do. I think at certain Angles it’s actually quite good. I’d put it solidly behind Dagobah and snowspeeder Luke in terms of face likeness. But yeah, not as good as I thought it was going to be.
But agree with you that the body proportions and the articulation is top notch. It’s still a top 10 figure this year for me.

I am kind thrown by the card art being of Luke in Jabb's Palace and not the final duel on Death Star 2. Also do you think they will release this in the galaxy packageing? I hate destroying the card backs. I bet Luke will look awesome with a brown cloak. Good review Nate! Thanks
The reason for this is they use whatever image that Kenner used. In this case "Jedi Knight Luke" was that cardback. Although you could argue that Hasbro should've called the figure "Endor Capture" Luke because Kenner also made that figure. -Justin

This is supposed to be his look from the end of the movie. Like a "Throne Room" version. It's just that Kenner's "Jedi Knight Luke" used that card image and Hasbro always uses the same image from Kenner. -Justin
