To be honest, this is one of the only places I feel like boogie jazz piano players can really show off their talent. There's not many outlets for someone that can play like this, unless you can still find old-school cafes with jazz playing in the background that isn't pre-recorded. There's this and actually playing at events. Worship it while you're here: you can't find it many places else.
Jyunkai It helps one's understandings of chord progressions and dissonances. Additionally, the man who posted the initial comment of this thread was speaking about the pianist's technique. We can all agree that Bach significantly increases one's technical abilities. As far as improvisation goes, screwing around on the instrument seems to be the best method of learning what does and doesn't sound good.
Out of all the celebrity deaths this one hurt me the most. This man was a part of our childhood; our youth. He made us laugh and sadly recently made us cry. He was a modern legend, thank you for all the smiles and memories that you have done with your work. May you rest in peace, Mister Williams. Great video by the way. Touched a special place in my heart.
What stings is what a good guy he was. He supported his friend Christopher Reeve (superman) and paid his medical bills when Reeve could no longer... Only for Robin to be so so alone in the end.
Bravo! A fitting tribute from one great creative soul to another. How could depression have led Mr. Williams so far astray? He is so loved all 'round the world.
Some times I listen to a song, and can just learn it by ear. Many times I can just watch someone play and learn even faster, but this. This takes a special kind of talent and dedication I am incapable of comprehending. Beautiful playing and I hope to one day reach this level. R.I.P Robin Williams.
I remember watching "Aladdin" in theaters as a kid and felt a WOW in my chest when Robin Williams performed this song. He gave such life to the Genie. He did that to all the characters he played. He was an exceptional performer and moreover, an exceptional humanitarian. He will be missed forever.
Excellent music. I only regret that I could not have met Robin Williams. To have had a conversation with him would have been a real pleasure. I think that we should all be remembering his brilliance in comedy and the pleasure he brought to others, normal people, despite his own sadness rather than talking shit about what a coward he was for commuting suicide.
I just watched Robin and Aladdin last week. What a masterpiece. Thank you for this tribute. A beautiful tribute by and very talented piano player. Thank you for sharing your talents.
Oh for sure. I agree there are people who are complete naturals who can play like that without thousands of hours of practice, but they're rare. I would say you couldn't reach his level of playing without at least some innate talent.
A million thanks to you for making me smile and laugh. You brighten our lives with your comic ways... You are truly the best in your field. My prayers...
It feels as though part of me, my childhood, has passed away. This strange feeling, although i never met the man, it's too overwhelming to put in words. This strange energy and feeling of joy that only he brought, is diminished and what is weird is that I know others feel the same way.
This is the nicest thing "I've" heard said about Robin Williams passing. Robin I hope you're riffin' with Lenny, George, W.C., and Charlie. Rest In Peace!
On it's own even not counting the fact that this is a tribute to Robin Williams, this is a great revision of the Friend Like Me song. It's still recognizable but it has it's own thing going for it. Well done sir.
The first movie I ever saw was Aladdin, and I have cherished it always. In particular, I have always loved this song, and Robin Williams. For me, this is the most fitting tribute you could have done. Thank you very much.
rip robin williams, you chose wonderful acts to display your fame, and for that you will always be remembered. also, this man just blew a stellar hard for mr. williams. i bet this scott person really loves the williams.
You have such an amazing talent playing the piano! The way you can create songs like this and put your own little twists in it, and how when you play it just looks so natural, like you're not even trying.
Wow this tribute was upbeat to keep alive his memory and yet poignant at the same time. Your interpretation of the song was unbelievably stunning. Robin Williams has certainly affected many.
Mate, you gave me chills. As a fellow pianist (and not an amateur), I adore listening to your talent and watching you play. I'd love to see more instrumental vids :)
+Jesper Pedersen Thank you! And don't worry, you have another chance because we'll be heading back to Denmark soon! Get your tix now! postmodernjukebox.com/events/
This is extremely beautiful! I have any words to truly describe how much I love this! This is a beautiful commemoration for Robin Williams. I am positive he would've loved this. I hope to be able to play like you one day.
Pinky & the Brain's local hotspot, Brain rocking a black Fedora & Dark aviator sunglasses, Pinky off his nut puffing a cigar & getting liquored up on that good ol bootlegged sweetness

Your piano skills are so incredible. You just don't see technique like this every day.
you do if you search for it every day :P

Bach.
Practice Bach.
Harry Lube playing bach wont help with your improvising.

God it's really been ten years. Feels like a lifetime ago and yesterday at the same time.

I watch this masterpiece from time to time to enjoy the good old days. Thanks, Scott and Robin Williams.

Robin Williams is a national treasure. He will be sorely missed.
Bravo!
A fitting tribute from one great creative soul to another.
How could depression have led Mr. Williams so far astray? He is so loved all 'round the world.
Thank you for using your great talent to show respects to a man who made the world a funnier place.
すごい👏
何回も聞いちゃう😊
This will cause Robin to smile for sure.
His family and friends can take some comfort in the love and joy you brought to this tribute.

I don't even know how playing like that is possible, but it's amazing and I love it. Phenomenal.
Amazing playing. I could hear Robin Williams singing in my head while you played.
Damn! To play something like that so effortlessly is immensely impressive, but to arrange that is just incredible
A superb performance by any standard. He is an outstanding artist but also outstanding arranger and director
Very nice tribute. The world lost an incredibly bright star.
How the hell is it even possible to play like that.
+Kleavers practice
+Kelsie Pate I've practiced for years and can't play like that lol
Maybe you just suck
+Kelsie Pate lol maybe but to be this good it takes talent more than practice
+Gregory Hess It takes more practice than anything to be any good. Talent is just a nice bonus.

Beautiful Man.....sounds just like his Smile...I hear him say, Thank you....This makes me feel as if...I have a piece of him still.
Got through all the other tributes without crying, but for some reason this one got me. RIP.
Listening to this song gave me a small tear running though my cheek ... RIP Robin Williams
Quite a beautiful tribute when you think about it. Even though he's not there we can hear him singing none the less.
I just watched Robin and Aladdin last week. What a masterpiece. Thank you for this tribute. A beautiful tribute by and very talented piano player. Thank you for sharing your talents.
I keep wondering how it is possible for Scott to compose and play flawlessly some tracks every single week.
Practice. It would surprise me if he has less than ten thousand hours of playing instruments and composing.
Musiken 0:30 "nearly flawless", you mean?
Harry Potter
It wouldn't be jazz if there weren't some black notes.
Mark Rose
it is possible though. talent isn't a myth.
Oh for sure. I agree there are people who are complete naturals who can play like that without thousands of hours of practice, but they're rare. I would say you couldn't reach his level of playing without at least some innate talent.
you are a genius and so was robin williams and i would love to believe that if robin saw this, he would be a very proud man.
Such an amazing actor robin Williams was, and it's truly amazing to see a tribute like this well done composer. Rip robin Williams
A million thanks to you for making me smile and laugh.
You brighten our lives with your comic ways...

Incredible job playing the bass and melody all together like that.
It feels as though part of me, my childhood, has passed away. This strange feeling, although i never met the man, it's too overwhelming to put in words. This strange energy and feeling of joy that only he brought, is diminished and what is weird is that I know others feel the same way.

Wonderful job. Robin would have loved this.
You have such an amazing talent playing the piano! The way you can create songs like this and put your own little twists in it, and how when you play it just looks so natural, like you're not even trying.

I always loved Robin Williams movies and shows! Especially Mrs. Doubtfire :) RIP
This sounds like if capcom made aladdin for NES. Very cool rendition, 10/10
You make this comment, but I don't think you realize capcom DID make an Aladdin game for the SNES :D
Ash Hall I know there was an Aladdin game for Sega Genesis (in the early 90's), that I never got the chance to beat the entire game.
***** Emulate it.
