Launch Alert! The Skoda Octavia has been priced at Rs 25.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Style variant and Rs 28.99 lakh for the L&K. What do you think of the Octavia's pricing?
Sounds expensive but can be paid for a car which is almost an Audi A4. Sun roof is a definite miss for an Indian style quotient, reminds me the Tata harrier mistake which made them to lose orders in the first two years after the launch.
Crazy overpriced and that too no petrol option. Having said that, give it time and the octy buffs will get used to the idea of paying this kind of money;)
Major misses in features like ventilated seats, extendable thigh support, reclining rear seats, panoramic roof, adaptive dampers and with a price point on par with the Superb which has good discounts, Octy is avoidable.
Consumers must realise Sedans are still best option due to ride quality, safety and grip. Ground clearance is no more a priority as roads even in rural India are getting better.
There r many foreign countries now removing sunroof from their vehicles, they have reasons behind it - 1. It reduces structural integrity of the roof. 2. Chances of seepage during monsoon & after a long term use. 3. Due to the increased pollution. 4. Sunroof no longer makes u feel ur car airy, rather it heats up in tropical climate. 5. It increases repair cost of the car after a certain period of time. 6. It decreases the over all steel quality by forming rust. 7. Increase the cost of the car & some driver friendly features could go missing. 8. it is unsafe, because many times children put their upper body out of the sunroof, which is dangerous. 9. Lastly, in India people park their cars under tree or under open sky, so their is a risk of falling object that can break the sunroof & u cannot avoid to drive the car without repairing it......... These r my views, so m happy that Skoda has removed the sunroof......
The Octavia is quite impressive on most fronts & I like the fact that Skoda hasn't engineered it to be a gizmo on wheels which is something all other manufacturers are doing. It seems to tick all the boxes right, however,I am not sure how effective the middle front aircon vent will be as its positioned a lot lower. Though I am not a fan of sunroofs, it should have been offered as an option because most of the buyers make up their minds based on this particular feature. Nevertheless, its the best bet in this segment because of its riding dynamics, great performance & purists like me will definitely fall for it. Great job Skoda.....!👏👏👏👏🙌😊
Am on decemeber 2022.Planning to take a vehícle by jan to march 23.Test drove both superb and octavia and they both stole my heart. Both are in 10lakhs gap.Octavia is more refreshed, superb is with outdated interiors but the look is just superb, driving both cars is awesum. give me clue which is a better option.
I think I'd compromise a little on the quality and a bit of power, and opt for the Honda City which is the best value for money sedan out there in India right now. I'm obviously aware of the fact That they are not in the same segment (price and power), but essentially comparing safety, comfort and technology. I find the City to be a great value and a more sensible buy. With twice the price (approx. 34L on-road Delhi compared to 17L for the City), Octavia doesn't seem to offer twice the car (read: features). But that's somewhat expected of a Skoda, isn't it?
But I don't know why. Is it just a few of us or are there others who feel that within these couple of years auto manufacturers have literally upgraded the levels of each segment to the next one. Ofcourse in pricing. The compact sedans have become the c segment sedans, c segment sedans have taken place of De segment and D segments have literally flown themselves into BMW X1 level. Seriously. All this in just a couple of years and with no significant changes in the characteristics required of that segment. City now sells at a price at which entry or mid Octavia would sell. Octavia 1.8 was available at 22 lac inr in Mumbai. Does City or Slavia even remotely have that character of Octavia? Do Dzire, Amaze even remotely have that character of City, Verna? Octavia is now around 30 lac or more. Seriously. Does it really deserve that price. I can't help but think that we are being made to think of car's like they are real estate and price revisions are all but logical. Are we even getting the quality at these prices?
Disappointing. Everybody expects ventilated seats and sunroof at this price point. Older one was better. Cars much cheaper are available with better features. Also, no Diesel engine, that’s my turning point.
This car is really my next goal but no sunroof, ventilated seats and 360° camera are major miss. I really hope skoda keeps the pricing well so, one can ignore those factors too.
Time and again we have seen good cars not selling well due to bad pricing...people who can spend 30L for a sedan should have no problem shelling out some extra for Superb. Would be better in 20-25L bracket
Just watching the video, I noticed a lot of vertical movements of the suspension which means it can feel willowy and not as tight in the handling department.
I was honestly waiting for this car. Skoda has outdone themselves. But really Skoda should have really put a panoramic Sunroof and 360° camera. It could have been more complete package but still is a Complete package.
Finally, India has a non-badged sedan with a bigger engine. After the exit of Jetta, Passat, Fluence, Accord, Octavia (for a short while), this is really refreshing. Thanks to Autocar for this excellent review. I could almost feel the car. I was a proud owner of Laura 1.8 TSi and loved it. So, this new version is interesting to me. One QUESTION : Does this version have organ style accelerator pedals or the cheaper hanging style, which was used in the outgoing Octavia? Laura had organ style.
7:54 absolutely wrong place & position to have the Type C port, considering the Indian Messy driving styles that port is surely going to get clogged with dust and other things very soon 😭😭
A hundred claps for Renuka who actually pointed out that ' in this weather, heat and pollution, who needs a Sun-roof '. We need driver-oriented cars, not gimmicks.
It's a good thing that Skoda ditched the sunroof. A lot of manufacturers are offering it as an important feature and charge a premium. People fall for their marketing gimmick and pay the extra money for an unnecessary feature that will become cumbersome in the long run.
I mean how does this stack up with the Superb now with it being better in every aspect aside the additional room Superb Offers? Skoda needs to jazz up the current gen Superb to make it stand out or this thing is going to sabotage it?
expensive why all the brands from existing segment jumping to segment above. Alloys aren’t great hope at dealership we get to choose options. The previous gen skoda made more sense and there should have been more of that but updated feature list. No diesel is a bummer.
Solid sedan and the pricing looks way too hyped but once you sit n drive this beauty it's all worth it and the interior is so premium the only sedan I personally like after honda city 5th generation
Can you do a Compass Petrol Automatic vs the Octavia? Given that Octavia is more expensive than Compass, it makes it a very difficult decision to take call. Jeep has a premium brand appeal compared to Octavia but is cheaper, does it make sense?
Is the ride bouchy? you can see in certain shots the car is bouncing and it does not look to give you confidence in corners if it's going to bounce like here 9:18 But great car and good review
Thanx for the review... Two important misses however, as per me... 1. Ground clearance.. How could u not talk abt it... It was one of the major negatives in the old octavia....my direct experience....i still dread speed breakers, esp when loaded. Belly scrapes are routine..something which was mismatched for indian roads..(grnd clearance), which was addressed on Skoda Rapid. 2. Service intervals n costs.. once again, with our old octavia, 2006 vintage, diesel, apart from the initial high purchase price, the service costs always tended to pinch, as also the spares cost.. These aspects could ve also been covered in the review ... Thanks n regs

@@vinaybalaji74 It is a 2L TSI Petrol engine.
Over priced
When all other brands seems concerned of building lifted hatchbacks( the so called suvs) here is a brand that still makes proper cars..
Yep
Skoda Octavia is not killing the competition, its killing Superb
The last sedan standing 😀
It has raised the bar but it will lower your bank balance...Epic line 😂😂😂
They increased the price so much... L&K variant's price feels more like paying for a superb.... 🙄
Major misses in features like ventilated seats, extendable thigh support, reclining rear seats, panoramic roof, adaptive dampers and with a price point on par with the Superb which has good discounts, Octy is avoidable.
My car feels like a tank even when it 8 years old. Good build quality.
sunroof is definitely important and expected at this point coz it makes the car airy..!
Earlier Superb used to start from ₹20 lakhs 😭
The veteran of Autocar reviewing the legend
15:13 BTS WAS AWESOME 😃😂😃
Skoda cars : Soft on pocket (as compared to other German rivals), heavy on build quality and performance
The point is skoda is smart. They know Octavia buyer won't be asking for sunroof. But I expected ventilated seats atleast.otherwise excellent car 👍
I wish it had ventilated seats
It's a good car overall.
Build quality, looks, engine gearbox combination, brand totally its the best brand❤
After plethora Suvs world, nice to see a sedan
B.T.S is a cool addition! it gives you a glimpse of how we all are the same behind our professional roles.

25 lakhs is too much. In UK you get Octavia for 21 lakhs that to estate version
It's Always a " Master Piece" when ever new Skoda Car is out.

The afforbale luxurious sedan which a driving enthusiast as well as a chauffeur prefers..Benchmark as always
Sunroof and ventilated seats miss biggest mistakes. Expecting new Rapid to be priced above 15 lakhs on road looking at their pricing model.
Man oh man, these days, Aircraft technology is coming in cars..Like the shift by wire, taken from Airbus's fly by wire😅
After the civic being discontinued. This will rule the segment.
It's great to see, autocar is trying new camera angles and keeping the shot dynamic...... gives the review more of life.
Skoda always make the most sturdy and safest cars and now it come up with new design
Great design

Skoda will always be my absolute favorite !!
Like petrol price , octys price is also skyrocketing 🤣
Let's see how long all that tech and drivetrain stand up long term (5years and more).
While I tighten my grasp on my 2011 Camry keys.
I think it will be a hard task to maintain those interior clean in every day use also miss the Diesel engine.
Waiting for Octavia VRS now.
Last time I checked, Octavia used to sit between the rapid and Superb...
A car that has maintained its fundamental over these years..
I wish there was a SEDAN in the 12 lakh - 18 lakh range for SKODA in India next to RAPID & before OCTAVIA.
Yay Octavia. My favourite sedan ❤️❤️❤️
How many of you are waiting for Kushaq?
🙋
Who will buy it for 25lks+ that too without sunroof...I wonder when will Skoda learn
But I don't know why. Is it just a few of us or are there others who feel that within these couple of years auto manufacturers have literally upgraded the levels of each segment to the next one. Ofcourse in pricing.

7:27 Yeah it has all buttons Except the mandatory Traction control button!
Disappointing. Everybody expects ventilated seats and sunroof at this price point. Older one was better. Cars much cheaper are available with better features. Also, no Diesel engine, that’s my turning point.
Skoda should also bring in the GTec CNG Octavia available in EU... Given the rising petrol prices....
It will be an instant hit in India
What was the engine in this one and hp? Is it only me or they missed out in vid?
This car is really my next goal but no sunroof, ventilated seats and 360° camera are major miss. I really hope skoda keeps the pricing well so, one can ignore those factors too.

It seems that autocar has upgraded their cameras.
Videography is on another level. Well done
Happy to see you again...
So Sunroof and Seat Ventilation they have kept for the next minor update. Simply Clever SKODA 😁
I so agree with mam regarding sunroof which to me is kind of a useless feature in a car especially in India.
I hope they bring back a proper manual shifter back with the Octavia RS
First impression is just WOW!!! ❤️❤️🔥🔥
Feeling lucky. I have the MY2017 Octavia RS. Considering the new Octavia prices, I guess 2021 Octavia RS will cost 45 to 50 Lakhs upon launch.
I was honestly waiting for this car. Skoda has outdone themselves.
But really Skoda should have really put a panoramic Sunroof and 360° camera. It could have been more complete package but still is a Complete package.
Superb is a way better option in this price range. If it had panoramic sunroof, heads up display, ventilated seats, would have been unbeatable.
Finally, India has a non-badged sedan with a bigger engine. After the exit of Jetta, Passat, Fluence, Accord, Octavia (for a short while), this is really refreshing. 25-30 lacs ex-showroom price??? If Skoda announces same price...i will be Very disappointed as I was waiting for this from quite some time
But one thing without TDI diesel there is no fun in Octavia we miss that rocket engine 😭
Hello autocar team!, hello renuka ma'am!
I m looking for a premium Sedan without sunroof, is Octavia is worth buying in 2022?
Thanks.
Could you please do a comparison video between Skoda Octavia 2021 vs Skoda Superb 2021 ???☺️
Great car. But when can we expect a diesel engine, or atleast an CNG version.
I personally love Sedan
I don’t like suv much I like to stick more with road rather then sitting higher
The BTS and hopping out of the boot UNCEREMONIOUSLY😂😂 You arent just the best but also hilarious
BTS-more of that please...... especially in comparisons when journos are taking sides.
Gorgeous car in the market righ now❤️ first time I saw this car in black colour I fall in love with it❤️ first car from skoda which I loved so much 😍
Renuka just enhances the reviews!!😁
Awww babyyy!! That thumbnail only made me happy❤️❤️ really waited for so long..
I have never heard Renuka Ma'am speak Hindi .. except "kitna deti hey" 😭
Nice touch of behind the scenes
one of the best reviewer out there..... my fav car is out of budget.

Renuka's English is so professional and when its comes to Hindi she sounds so cute....!
The gear shifts by wire I am seeing for the first time in any car 😮😮
When Skoda Octavia vrs will be launched??
The last part was hilarious😂🤣
expensive why all the brands from existing segment jumping to segment above. Alloys aren’t great hope at dealership we get to choose options. The previous gen skoda made more sense and there should have been more of that but updated feature list. No diesel is a bummer.
Only missing feature for indian conditions is the ventilated seats. Why buy an suv when octavia is available.
Solid sedan and the pricing looks way too hyped but once you sit n drive this beauty it's all worth it and the interior is so premium the only sedan I personally like after honda city 5th generation
That colour 😍🔥

Will Vrs be also updated in coming time in india?
Comapre it with 2019 version, it aint got that many additions tbh..🥺..
I think this is the best channel to watch
106mm ground clearance,or a typo error
Laden ground clearance
It's the ground clearance with a full load. Hope this helps
Curious to know the behavior of the car when electronic parking is engaged on the move.
Is the ride bouchy? you can see in certain shots the car is bouncing and it does not look to give you confidence in corners if it's going to bounce like here 9:18 But great car and good review
Check out the Sonata N line with 290 bhp and 420 Nm torque priced at 24 lacs (when converted from USD)
6:50 One thing i hate about this car.
Is there a drag on the back seat ? All the previous Octavias I definitely felt a drag !!! Please answer. Thank you.
This new Octavia is really a ultimate with superb features now.
First of all the review by Renuka and then icing on the cake was BTS 😄
Thanx for the review... Two important misses however, as per me...
