Aha there we go again. So every Indian family should sell the car they own and buy a VW or Tata? Come on man. As much as it is about the car it is also about the driver. Also try driving like he said for the joy of it. Still don't like it. No problem. You speak for yourself he is speaking for himself and motorinc 😊@@ChirabalaDas

I'm driving baleno from 2019. Done 76,000 kms. Apart from the sheet matel (it scratches easily) no issues till now. It's running on stock tyres till today.
My dad also owns a baleno, we don't drive it since Bangalore traffic is horrible and it's getting worse day by day, we have barely driven it for 6k km since 2020. I wanted to ask if oil changes are necessary after couple of months even if we don't drive it a lot. Our car sees the road maybe once every 2 weeks or once a month.
Calling K12N a "God" is no exaggeration by any means! That Dual Jet , Dual VTVT is unparalleled! Outperforms Tata's Revotron 1.2 (used in Punch) and even Honda's 1.2 i-VTEC (used in Amaze) by a mile! Hyundai's 1.2 Kappa is a close match in terms of performance but then the delta between mileage is significant! (3-4 kmpl in the city!)
@@motorinc My observation is K12 has a quirkier low end and a flat mid whereas Kappa is linear at both, low and mid. Basically, what I meant is, K12 - Kappa delta is relatively lower than K12 - Others.
@@N-lv8bd How was the test drive experience? As KS has very accurately pointed out, it all boils down to living with an AMT and a very boring cabin with the Baleno (over i20). Everything else makes Baleno a better or at least an equal product (over i20).
@@vardanrathi7777 kappa will give you absolute minuscule mileage if you try to rev it, but there is no such huge drop when it comes to K12 and boy oh boy the exhaust sound it makes is ❤
Owning a Baleno for 5 years.... I agree with Karthikeya. This is THE Pivot car. The question I always ask is "in the real world, what does that other car do that the Baleno can't?" The back seat is so spacious that my late 5' 2" mother used to lounge in it. Now, it's my dog does that now. Being able to switch between 22kmpl to reving up to 6000rpm on an NA I4 and back to 22 kmpl when ever I want.... Love this car.
@@N-lv8bd I have the manual, and hence can't comment on the ivt/ags. Test drive both extensively and chose what it is you cannot be with whilst driving the car day in day out. Most features are rather gimmicky and hence will only catch your fancy for the first couple of months. Imagine what you would use regularly and choose. Don't compromise on something important for something that will be very seldom used. For example, I don't even have a reverse camera because i feel my sense of judgement is good. But I now wish I had picked it as an option now, a few years later. Also, my brother has the 360° camera fitted on his car. 1 year after purchase, never used it. So...think about it.
The Baleno, in 2024 is the standard bearer for Maruti. It stands just above the Ignis and Swift, but just below the Fronx (which is a butched-up Baleno, regardless). I have test driven the Baleno and the Swift, and the Baleno just felt better for all of us. The other thing here is that the Baleno retains the same old power package compared to the pared-down new Swift (which in no way excites me), and the fact that I am seeing more Balenos on road in Hyderabad nowadays, makes me believe that the Baleno is the new Swift for India. The heft of the appearance combined with the performance makes it a real no-brainer, at any variant and transmission, in its class and price range. MS killed Swift by introducing the 2024 version, honestly.
@@motorinc I know! I test drove the 3rd gen and it was fun. My friends and I have toured so much in the 2013 diesel, it was just so much lively! The moment I saw the full specs of the 4th gen, I immediately decided it was not for me. KS's first with the vehicle simply confirmed this.
Hello team Motorinc, I am using Baleno zeta manual since September 2022 and have driven 25,000 kms till now. What I observed - Pros- 1. Smooth engine with good low end punch. Mid range is okayish. 2. Fuel efficiency is good too (16-18 in city and 23-27 on highways) 3. Front seat comfort is best in class. Cushioning is perfectly done. 4. Rear seat legroom is of mid-size sedan class. 5. Plastic quality of top part of dashboard is slightly better than before. Lower half is the same more or less. 6. Switchgear quality of AC controls is good. 7. Steering response is better than old Baleno and it self centers which is a convenience. 8. Front armrest is perfectly positioned. 9. AC is quite effective. No issues there. 10. Boot size is good enough by category standards. 11. Audio system quality is good but not better than TATA. 12. Touch screen visibility in direct sunlight is really good. 13. Door pockets are good in size. 14. Fitting of plastics is good. No uneven panel gaps. 15. Indoor cabin lights are bright and effective. 16. Gearshifts are smooth and clutch is ultra light which reduces the need for an automatic. Cons - 1. Mid range punch is average. 2. Plastic quality of lower part of dashboard is only average. Some rattles have started above driver's side ac vent and other areas. 3. Performance of engine in hilly areas is not great. I went to Shimla with 2 people and a little luggage. It performed poorly in some steep incline conditions (I was using alto k10 before this, so maybe I found the performance average in compairson) 4. Overall visibility from front and rear windscreen is not good enough. Especially, the vertical area of front windscreen is not enough. The windscreen is more inclined which hampers the vertical area of windscreen. 5. Outside rear view mirror of driver side makes some wierd friction noise from 4 months while closing it. Doesn't make noise while opening. Maybe due to some dust in the joint area. 6. Boot vertical hump is very tall which makes putting in luggage a tough task sometimes. 7. Front armrest opening and closing mechanism has become slightly loose after using it for 6 months 8. The plastic on the back side of horn on the steering is little flimsy as it makes noise while pressing horn sometimes. 9. Heft has been added to front doors only as rear doors are still very light. 10. Overall glass area could be better in the car to give it airy feeling. 11. The plastic has some wierd smell when in direct sunlight but it is not everytime. 12. Glovebox size is really small Owner manual and some small items and it is already full. 13. Middle front Ac vents shape is small which i think affets air flow slightly. 14. Nexa has removed puddle lamps from Zeta variant since July 2022, which was a nice feature to have. 15. The car's outside design has some sharp creases(especially at the rear lights and bumper) in its overall design which can sustain dirt in it for a long period of time. Hard to remove as well. Overall , It is a well rounded package with no deal breaker point. All the above cons are minor points except the build of the car could be slightly more assuring at some places. One of the best cars under 10 lakh with great peace of mind and hassle free ownership.
cabin experience can always be revamped for 8-12k but the mileage and utilitarian aspect of this car is just brilliant. At 10 lakhs it gives everything that a driver needs including a 360 degree camera (it helped me lot in hilly terrains). I have revamped the interior of my Baleno with a brown & off white dual tone and it look sleek as hell. I have taken this car from Kolkata to Spiti with an avg fuel efficiency of 22.3Kmpl. It's truly a no brainer. Although I think for quick overtaking anything above 3rd gear feels timid, I often downshift to second for quick overtaking. If one has a little bit more time then 3rd it is.
I own a Baleno (Zeta Manual variant). Bought in 2022. Budget was around 10L, had read up about Baleno and Altroz. Went to Nexa first and I still remember how shocked i was with the amount of knee room in the backseat. And that was it, didnt even try the Altroz after that test drive. Baleno is such a joy to drive. Clutch is the lightest (I have experience with ecosport, Innova, older Verna). Comfy and easy going in the city, fabulous & stable upto 120s on the highway. I dont drive with a light foot but manage to get 15kmpl in the city. Cant believe how lucky I got. I'll go as far as saying that if my family needs a second car that too will be a Baleno/Glanza (maybe the top variant this tim to get ESP, UV Cut Glasses).
Hahaha are you me? I have the same variant, but only 2021. The rest of the experience is similar to you. My mother too loved the space offered in back seat.
@@rahultalari1241 I own 2020 Baleno Zeta. With me and my dad being 6'2 and mom and sister being around 5' 10, the space in Baleno made us go for it no matter what. This is the only model in this segment with so much space to offer. Happy with my Baleno!
@@Dhinchu I try to cap myself to 120 on highways. When I exceed 120, it's generally for a very short while. But it does feel a little bouncy then. End of the day it's a family car and has its limitations. This shouldn't be a deal breaker if you are considering a Baleno.
In 2022, we were planning to upgrade from a 2009 WagonR to a new car. My dad and I were happy with the new WagonR, but my sister wasn't. My sister and dad were happy with the swift, I wasn't. My sister and I were happy with the brezza, but my dad wasn't because it was a bit of a stretch. Ultimately, we all agreed with the Baleno and boy do we love it! We live in Mumbai, often drive it to our native place near Ahemdabad, and once took it to Udaipur too. I was a bit disappointed with the infotainment system design, but man everytime I drive it, I have so much fun!!
confusion between baleno automatic and i20 ...is your car automatic/AMT...would love to know more. i have been driving wagonR since 13 years and now want to go for new car.
We brought home the Delta variant last year, and I was not pleased because it was a Baleno. It was my first car to drive, and since that day, it has become my favorite. It's totally worth every penny we spent. Also, service experience is good, at least in my Belgavi city.
BALENO BE LIKE : Badnam bhi wo hote hai jinka nam hota hai 😂 BALENO is the perfect example of » No matter how perfect you are but some bunch of people / audience gonna hate you for absolute no reason they're gonna hate your perfection even after you become perfect. It's an almost perfect car under budget . I don't know why & how some bunch of idiots hates an absolute beauty like BALENO. " TIN KA DAABA " is the most exported car from India , top selling car year after year , & for that you can't do nothing but ACKNOWLEDGE ☝🏼
Iam owner of baleno from last three years. I accept its body is fragile, otherwise its engine, gear and reving at lower gear is amazing. On top of all, its average is awesome. In highway I easily get around 23-24 km with AC, that keeps me awestruck.
I was willing to sacrifice the features of Baleno for Fronx, because I personally like how the Fronx looks. I have time before pulling the trigger. Driven multiple vehicles from different brands, narrowed down to Ignis and Fronx. Ignis might end up being a bit too small in the long run. I have yet to test drive the Baleno. Might be the perfect balance between Ignis and the Fronx.
I am very used to Celerio AMT (the family car) and TC from the Creta (also family car). While being fairly jerky, I find the Celerio pretty charming, Creta is pretty quick, but I get very bored on long trips (might be too comfortable, I guess)
I love Kartikeya's presentation the way his video was sophisticated yet very simple and to the point and still was keeping me very engaged; I liked it a lot way better than other car channels which were just talking lame shit either in Hindi or in English and do not try to understand the perception of the viewer appreciate the great work buddy
Wow! I have been driving a Toyota Glanza since 2019 and I couldn’t agree more. I think the 2nd generation did get some upgrades besides the obvious cosmetic changes but I can relate to it when you mentioned about the comfortable driving seat and the engaging drive the car offers. I too have no qualm in recommending the Glanza/Baleno to anyone looking for a premium hatchback. 😅😅
Wow, I just Booked the Baleno on last Sunday, getting it withing a week, after 5 months of test driving almost 20 cars in 10 lakh Bracket booked Baleno Alpha AMT White. I wanted the Manual, but I am in Bengaluru so booked Auto. Felt happy watching this Video.
I purchased Baleno Zeta 3.5 months back. I looked at Brezza and Fronx but chose Baleno over these for the practality it offfers. Completely agree with what you have said. It is a real value for money package. Recently got mileage of 27kmpl on a 276 kms solo road trip with ac set at 26.5deg. speed varied mainly between 70 to 90. Things i really like. Bright LED lights Comfortable big seats with 5 headrests Engine performance Awesome mileage Good suspension Spacious
Thank you for this video, Kartikeya! We have ordered our new car, the Toyota Glanza V MT! As I comment on this video, we will be receiving our car tomorrow. Reasons why we chose Glanza over Baleno: 1. The interior color had a premium feel compared to the drab looking Baleno. 2. The grille is just wow! With that carbon fibre effect at the lower bumper, just adds more to the sporty quotient. 3. The alloys are more eye-catchy compared to the Baleno. 4. The standard warranty of 3 years/1,00,000km. 5. Last but not the least, if I had to nitpick, it is the front camera placement. As you know, I have OCD for symmetry, and if I see anything asymmetrical, I would hate it. Glanza's front camera has a spot-on placement, that is, right below the logo, whereas, Baleno's front camera is set with a little offset to accomodate the big logo. It's bigger than GV and Invicto, I feel. If anyone who would like to argue, I want to let you know that, everyone has a different opinion regarding their choices. Except for the person who claims that Altroz Racer is the fastest car manufactured in India currently on sale. Thank you!
The No to baleno starts with the seat comfort & space for 3 people in the back seat, it does not hold a candle to i20 seats. The cabin does not feel as airy as i20 I test drove the baleno manual while cross shopping with the 2017 i20 to replace the 2010 i20. It was a clear rejection. Sadly glanza did not launch in 2017. Yes, the engine has power I agree but it does not help justify the interior compromise. I loved the driving experience of the i20 (which I still own) over the baleno and feels a better car. The good use of the baleno engine would be to pluck it from the existing car shell and stick it in a contessa/gypsy and enjoy.
I own the current gen baleno. Bought the cng Zeta spec in May last year and have driven 32k kms on it since. This has got to be the most practical thing to ever exist on Indian car market imo. The boot, even with a cng tank can fit 2 cabin luggage bags in and 3 if I remove the parcel tray. Everything said about seats stands true. And as for kitna deti hai, my car returns 30 - 33kms per kg in city and close to 37 - 38 on highways. Revs just as close in cng to the petrol outputs (80% close if to quantify it). The only con i feel is that while driving, it is difficult to see the bonnet up for which I have to stretch out and the infotainment system along with the IRVM kinda narrows the field of vision to an extent which works but is definitely not a dealbreaker. My friends would often call it a no nonsense car which is a difficult compliment to give to a car these days.
Everything you mentioned is what I'd describe the most perfect & practical car. Except, the seating position part. I absolutely don't like low seating position, particularly because most ppl do not have road manners & flash high beams throughout, especially with newer cars all coming with LED headlights. Another thing I do not like is the rear windows being abysmally small, making the car strangely claustrophobic. What can you share about these concerns?
We got baleno sigma. Upgraded from Alto k10 VXI which we drove almost 11 - 12 years. Was planning Swift VXI as budget was so tight under 8.5 lacs with all accessories and any additional cost. But Baleno Sigma was giving better feel and good leg space at real and a big feel car than swift. So we purchased Sigma and got it company fitted with all necessary accessories, music system as well. I feel sometimes would have purchased Delta but our use is less so can deal with the minimal drawbacks for the cheaper cost.
I was considering a Brezza VXi AT just so I could have the torque converter it comes with - but Baleno as a package was cheaper, got me more features with Alpha trim and better fuel efficiency. Also, for someone who's driven manuals my whole life, I was pleasantly surprised by the AGS(Maruti's AMT system) - it's not as bad as I thought, and handled things fairly smoothly even when I went hard on the accelerator. I just couldn't say no to that, had to get the Alpha AGS. Happy with it so far! Really is a lot of car for the money - realised that as I went around test driving other cars in the price range before booking the Baleno. Maruti's reliability, after sales, and resale value are other huge considerations.
I was researching all week to buy my first car. I picked up quite a few wisdom pearls off this channel - on what to look for in a car, on how to evaluate safety ratings and weigh my priorities. That helped me trust my common sense and drown out the noise elsewhere - and decide on the Baleno. I was almost going to go for the i10. But the instant I took the Baleno on a test drive, the engine won me over. And a big thumbs up from my wife on the rear suspension and comfort made the case. I literally booked the car last night (Delta variant). I actually spent quite a bit of time googling to see if motorinc or KS had written about Baleno specially anywhere. To reinforce my convictions. But then went with my gut for the purchase. I must say, seeing you drop this video this morning washed away any buyers remorse!! It felt as if it was a personal favour. 😂 Keep up the good work!!
Hey Suraj! Congratulations! Although we didn't plan it that way, glad to hear that we were helpful to you at the right time. Please do keep us posted on the delivery experience.
7 years ago bought Baleno Alpha. Still drives effortlessly. Love to drive in city or highways. It gives good mileage, has reliable engine and lot of space. Seeing the current cost of living and high taxes, dont want to upgrade anytime sooner.... Bye the way since mine is 1st generation car, it has UV cut glass.... Proud owner...
I got baleno alpha ags last month. I thank god and proud of my choice for baleno. The premium feel and space on the inside is top notch 👍 I sometimes don't feel getting out of the car.. haa..haa 🤭
Here are my impressions of my Baleno zeta manual for an year now. Pain points: There is a door noise even on slightly uneven tarmac. Engine performance & efficiency drops significantly with AC you need to push the pedal hard to get the power to move in a bumper-bumper traffic or slight gradient. Being a light footer its a curse. The front seats are well designed but somehow it gave me lower back issue & I always find myself looking for comfort in the seat Dynamic handling at cruising speeds 90-100 could be better There is body roll while cornering at 90-100 possibly due to softer suspensions Likes: Simple car with all utilities required and no nonsense Smooth suspension Engine refinement FE : Normal FE 20-22 on highways, I did a mileage test for 30 kms at a 40-50 constant speed on a state highway & it was able to fetch 32 kmpl, super impressive. Long drives are good not the best due to my seating discomfort. Comfortable back seats Large boot space &many more I am planning to keep this car for at least 6-7 years before my next upgrade.
At the outset, I'd like to say I'm no "fanboy." I own a Maruti, a VW, and a Tata. I think this review has that one thing every journalist (I'm one too, albeit not an automotive journalist) hopes they don't fall prey to: letting our biases take over the story. Clearly, Kartikeya has let his heart take over his brain with this review. Before we get to the big "C" controversy, i.e. crash tests, let's address the other shortcomings of the Baleno that haven't been addressed in this video: 1) Aside from the engine, the Baleno screams medicore and boring in every aspect. The looks are average, the interiors are drab, and the steering is lifeless and unenthusiastic. It doesn't even self center properly (which reviewers rarely point out and is a common trait in cheap Marutis)! The self centering is scary especially in panic situations at high speeds. 2) The suspension is uninspiring at high speeds. Anything above 100 kmph and it pogos around and doesn't absorb bumps. The earlier Balenos were too hard and loud thuds over broken roads were common. 3) Buying Marutis in 2024 just for the sole reason of reliability doesn't hold true. On a recent visit to my local Maruti dealer to service my car, the service advisor implored me to never buy an AMT. He said that there are plenty of AMTs that come with unsolvable issues and a total replacement is needed, which is almost 1/5th the price of the car. VW's get a bad rap for their DQ200s, but not many speak of the AMTs (by all manufacturers) which are unreliable and unrefined. Maruti's greed and cost-cutting measure to move away from a CVT to AMT on their "premium" hatchback should be criticized. Now, coming to the competitors. The NA i20 is superb on the inside, has a decently-refined engine, and a butter-smooth gearbox, while the N-Line ticks all the boxes that an enthusiast desires. The Altroz is excellent at high speeds, has ample space, loaded with features, and the DCT is smooth, while the Diesel offers brilliant value. FINALLY, the crash test ratings. All I'll say is that when one wants ECE over DOT certified helmets, I don't think people should be ridiculed for wanting a 5-star rated car over one that has previously got zero-star ratings and was pulled out of Australian markets because it's sheet metal didn't pass their standards. Australian/Mexican lives are more valuable than Indian ones? :)
@@motorinc Which part, though? The scary steering, poor suspension, their decision to switch from CVT to AMT on a premium hatchback, or that their famed reliablity is bogus? Not even going to the crash rating because that's a lost cause. :)
simply wow! not the car, but the way you explained things......perfectly done. I'm a subscriber now :) This channel is far ahead of its peers...they all look like dinosaurs now :D

@@adhulktr9970 Thank you adhul for this info. I've updated the software myself and now my car has android auto and the best thing is the map directions show up in the MID screen as well 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Having a Baleno Alpha is one of the best decision I’ve made. The car has everything I need to know. Pricing, Mileage, Space, Sounds, Engine, is exactly how I vision it to be. Thanks for this video. My suggestion to customers: Always buy a Baleno Alpha ka
I own the new 2022 Zeta MT, it was never in my list while hunting for cars in 2022 thanks to online influence. After test driving magnite NA&turbo, kiger NA&turbo, triber, i10, auro and i20. I decided upon i10 and then thought why not to test drive the new baleno. Drove it. Felt more satisfied than any of the previous test drives in other cars. Booked it straight away. It is peace of mind car for sure. Does the job perfectly for the budget. Infotainment screen could have been bigger.
Owner of Baleno Alpha 2022. Great car. I researched car youtube channels for 3 years and then booked the new model within a week of its launch. It is my first car so for me interiors are just fine and I love to have fun with the engine. I have seen mileage of 29 kmpl as well on my highway trips when cruising although it averages 16-18 usually and in stop go traffic of Mumbai, I have never dropped below 11. It does have its problems once in a year during rains touchscreen gives issues but its easily fixable by reconnecting the car battery.
@@motorinc being a first time owner I have been charged with carburetor cleaning and synthetic oil shenanigans. But now I am more informed about skipping the extras. Apart from that no complaints in terms of customer interaction and servicing itself.
I hav it since 2017. Done about 1.25 lac km. Wide seats with bucket seat covers make it feel like a City or Verna. Hav travelled more than 600 kms in a day many times. Its more comfortable than any other hatchback.
Thanks a lot for making this video Kartikeya, especially the last few. We own a 2018 Delta variant in the extended family and has clocked 92k kms compared to our brand new Altroz (bought to phase out Baleno when it reaches 100k kms) which has been facing niggles in 1000kms or less. Wish better sense prevailed in this day and age over the "safety rating" way of marketing and advertisement.
@@motorinc I guess it's here to stay, niggles or otherwise. It's going to be the city car now (contrary to the intention). I wouldn't be surpised if we end up retaining the Baleno or end up replacing it with a Fronx Boosterjet or Brezza.
I own a Baleno 2022 zeta AMT, have been driving it close to 2 years now without any complaints, coming to the AMT part, in city traffic it's a blessing in disguise (I am from Bangalore). In highways people complain about the lag but I just switch to the manual shift mode while driving on highway and it works perfectly, better than an actual manual (the shifts are faster), I drive a XL6 automatic as well(my brother's car), but the shifts are faster on Baleno AMT manual mode, so it's just the perfect balance between city and highway.
Thank you Karthik - for clearing the doubts i had. We booked the Glanza G - The better baleno! The balenos interior looks absolutely dreadful. The blacks are too much and the blue doesn't go with it really. Glanza's cabin makes you want to be there for longer because of lighter colors. One more thing I think the glanza does right are the tail lights - smooth looking LED lights over the 3 dots in baleno. Its just better. Thank you again for this video. It's my first car and it couldn't be better than this under 10 lakh rupees.
Hey Kartikeya! Been following you since autocar days and been here since a while too. Firstly glad to see my car getting featured. I own the Baleno Alpha P since 7 years now and have clocked more than 60k. I have to affirm your statement that the 1.2 is literal GOD. Been driven hundreds of cars across all segments and can still say love this engine doesn’t fade. YES it reads your mood and delivers 😃. Secondly, on Baleno being the Pivot, but a tall one.!7 years later, in the market for upgrade, and the immediate upgrade just doesn’t impress. Not saying Seltos/Creta is not a better car, but what you get is a slightly better legroom, a few more features (telling you back is the day Baleno was way ahead of its time. I have basics like auto dim, auto lamps, carplay, push button etc) or a little more power? Don’t get me wrong,m they are better cars in totality. But to upgrade from the Baleno, I would hesitate to pay more than double the amount. And sub compact SUVs are almost a joke to even call it an upgrade. Only the mid size and large SUVs like the XUV700 alike would feel like an upgrade over the Baleno. And that’s saying something about the car. Thanks for reading:)
I don't own a Baleno but I own an Altroz diesel, there are a few observations Baleno offers more space also low NVH, and fuel economy is great. Look both are good, of course it depends on personal view. I think if we travel a lot on highways and freeways altroz is best as it offers very good highspeed stability. The naturally aspirated engine is lazy in Altroz but diesel is a beast. I cruise in 150 without worrying much on empty 3 lane highways the braking cornering steering and suspension tuning is very good. But on the other hand, Baleno covers more practical as it performs well in city also you can do highways at safer speeds. Safety is the only concern I changed my mind from Baleno and chose Altroz because my run is mostly highways and I prefer flooring the peddle often hence diesel is preferred to cover fuel economy. If I am driving Altroz on the freeway alone no limit to fun. All bells and whistles without the occupant's safety look like a betrayal to innocent people who don't even know the safety concept in automobiles. The Maruti-Suzuki being a leading auto manufacturer should address safety issues asap even it means little price hike.
Here’s the thing - they did go to buy the Baleno. But, the higher seating position of the Ignis made his wife feel more at home. But, Kartikeya was happy - he had wanted the Ignis anyway. Small and zippy.
Late 2021, I had visited a tata showroom to service my accident struck apple-green Nano. Took my dad to the next door Maruti Arena & Nexa showrooms just to "look" at their cars. Had been trying to convince him to get a maruti for ages, the Nano ageing and giving a few troubles. He went agreeing to look at a Celerio or WagonR with an open mind, but a sit-down in the swift & Rs 10000 later, walked out having booked a Swift gen 3 Vxi in midnight blue. Really loved the Baleno Delta but would have been tough to convince spending the additional 1.5lakh or so. Swift had always been a childhood sweetheart. A couple of years and so much fun later, Maruti has proven why it enjoys the space in the Indian market. Love my swift, the more sporty brother of the elegant Baleno. Good video, reminded me of my dilemma of booking the sexy Swift right then, or waiting a bit for a chance at the bold baleno. Waiting a few months would have made the Baleno an easy reach. Was just out of college with a load of education loans to cover up but hey I'm only young once. No regrets. My parents get a fabulous car while they are still young enough to enjoy it. :) We did decide to keep the Nano. Its still my sweetheart, gave us 4 wheels and a comfy AC to travel with my family when a more expensive car would have been tough. We can only lose it, cant buy it again even if we wanted to. Keeping that car around now. Keep up the good work.
I own Baleno 2017 Alpha Petrol. Very much reliable car till date. But only problem is that its steering wheel does not recenter even after making an U-turn(at lower speeds below 25kmph) but if we pit reverse gear steering fully turned to one side and as soon as we remove our leg on clutch, the steering wheel eagers so fast to recenter. How does that happen, if the steering shaft and the rack are the same. Why steering wheel responds differently in forward gear and in reverse gear? Any solutions?
I always was in love with the name "Baleno" the old ones were 🔥 the new gen is ❤ But, I badly want an update on the Baleno as the Fronx & i20 N line came on... With the hardware in Baleno & new features that are coming with i20 could have made this a great car, could attract much more buyers too 🤘 The only thing will be it could hamper the Fronx sales... The last sentence of this video also struck hard. I used to say this to my friends in some situations. Take things with an open mind, because the only person losing is just you.
The Zeta variant gives out the most value for money. I drive it around the steep hills of Darjeeling and the 4 cylinder doesn't scream out for gas that much when compared to other 3 cylinders in this price range, making it a smooth ride and low cabin vibration. In this SUV craze culture, Baleno is indeed a great car that satisfies the basic logical needs of an average person. Great review.
Baleno First Gen Zeta owner here, it's almost 9 years, drove it for 1.5 Lakh km and never had an issue, very reliable, refined engine, butter smooth gearbox, and very spacious back seat, sure it has its own issues such as safety and stiff suspension but it's a great city car nothing beats it.
I have a 1st gen Baleno 2016 model Alpha and I love it. It feels like a complete package, isn't expensive to maintain or run and does city and highway duties with the same ease. The only thing that disappoints me about this model is the suspension. It feels hard and cannot be called composed. I believe Maruti has rectified that problem in the facelift. The other huge problem with this generation of Baleno is its build quality. It is really frail. It a nightmare in dense traffic because even a touch from an e-rikshaw or a autorickshaw will rip it apart. But I love it for all the reasons Kartik has mentioned- engine, drivability, the gearbox, seating ergonomics. I am still holding on to my car ( I have other cars in my garage) and I wish to hold it for as long as I can. 😊
Hey FK! You are right they have improved the suspension and the build too. And we understand and appreciate you holding onto a car that’s working well for you. Wish you awesome travels with it!
have a 2023 baleno alpha variant. this video made me feel so good about it while i already felt extremely satisfied about buying a baleno after cancelling the i20. my father and I watched youtube for about 6 months deciding our first car and glad that we made the right decision. apart from the looks part of it, i love every single thing about this car. drove to kerala from mumbai and i still couldnt get enough of it. at 20,000 km in 8 months, i still want to drive a it a lot more than i already have. that' with 16kmpl in my tier 2 city and a easy 22 on the highways ( and i'm not light on my foot either when it comes to driving)
We've had the first gen of the re-birthed Baleno for the last 8 years. I love the car and i agree when Kartik says its a no-brainer. The only issue I had with the first gen was the suspension, which is too stiff. But since then, with the suspension retuned I'd recommend the Baleno to anyone whose out there looking for a car as their first or even as an add-on. No complaints whatsoever and being a maruti, its just easy to live with
Went to buy baleno. Took a test drive of both baleno and ciaz. The ciaz suspension was felt so good. Smooths out all the bumps where as the baleno suspension felt stiff. Felt night and day diff btween this two car. Bought ciaz.
We own a 2019 baleno diesel. That ddis engine boy once you go past 2000 rpm it just flies. Fuel economy is crazy too with 19 in city and 22 23 on highways. The seats are perfect for 5 adults and the boot is big enough for a weeks trip. I think it's the perfect hatch in India right now.
I own honda city 5th generation petrol varient. The 1.5 ivtec is so fun to drive but really struggled on mileage. Choose baleno zeta varient and i dont believe the MID when i get to see 19-20kmpl in city traffic. Omg!! My honda is waiting from past 2 month to get on to the road. Its baleno better mileage soft suspension smoother gear shift doing wonders for me!!
It's really the best car, almost driven 30k in one year. I owned a CNG variant and the mileage is superb, 28kg/km. Makes it so economical. It's so stable on highway and feels safe.
I was tight on budget, Cancelled my Baleno Zeta amt booking and looking for Tiago. later I saw this review and booked Baleno Zeta manual. as you said "Say no to the Baleno first before saying yes to anything else" Taking delivery of my Baleno on 24th Nov. 😊
I'm running my 2016 baleno right now. Just I installed the "non-technical, so called meaningless item ROGERAB SPRING BUFFERS" on all 4 wheels. Here is my feedback including car: Pros: 1. Changed tyres to Yokohama BluEarth GT AE51. These yoko tyres in combination with buffers, my car feels like sports car. It changed my car dynamics a lot. Increased ground clearance, superb road grip, fun to drive, solid stability, controlled body roll, corner carving, good breaking, less boat effect in highways. May be all because stiffened suspension coz of spring buffers. 2. The engine (BS IV) is a gem (of course GOD as told in video). Enough power at all the instance, butter smooth in city and capable mile muncher on open roads. You will have enough grunt to overtake 70% of the vehicles. 3. Space. Never felt as a small cabin. Sufficient boot, very useful. 4. Reliability. In my 8 years 55k drive, never got single issue except normal wear and tear and battery change once. 5. Door damping with HERTZ components (MGA), sound is excellent even with factory fitted head unit. Generally I never compromises on sound quality, but it satisfies me. 6. Availability and affordability of spares and parts and consumables. Cons: 1. Spring buffers disturbed entire suspension system. Caused steering and clutch hard. Hard steeting sometimes feels good. Damaged some lower arm bushings. Suspension became hard and sharp. Feels sharp jerks, but vertical movement is controlled. But I will keep changing the damaged parts and will never remove spring buffers. I'm addicted to these. 2. Car cabin noise is higher by default in 2016 models Including engine and road noise. I used damping on all doors, bones lid, boot lid and spare wheel well. This damping reduced some ratling noise, good door handling feel and gained some weight in the car. 3. Body panels sooo thin, easily dents. 4. Breaks not so biting, takes some time to stop. 5. Interiors soo boring. Totally it's an satisfied family car. We are all enjoying it. Car never hurt anyone as of now.
I have been driving my baleno alpha AMT for like 8 month and covered around 12000km. All i have to say is that it is the best car in the budget period.
Haven't heard so many praises for any vehicle in a very long time. I guess apart from new Himalayan or Duke 390. That's a new for me in the car category from your end. Never expected this!
Just bought the new baleno delta MT, and it’s just amazing…the engine is pretty smooth, the interiors are soothing and the body dynamics of the car is just great.Apart from the AC all the things are great in this car 👍🏻
@KartikAggarwal-pn1vg Yup AC is not so great...would be fine on nights and normal temperatures. But would be totally useless on sweltering hot summers and can be managed to some extent by high quality sunfilms on all glasses. If you are looking for a chiller unit during summers then this car is not for you.
Video quality, the background score and Kartikeya's brilliant narration are class apart from other YT automotive channels. Great video guys! Keep it up!
Got the baleno. Two complaints. You’ve talked about one. The interiors are too dark. It’s a bit like sitting in a cave when sitting in the rear. Lighter interiors would have done the trick. Plus the rear windows are small. Second complaint. There is a problem with the positioning of interior rear view mirrors. It seriously impedes the view of the driver to the left of the center. I’m 5’10”. I tried adjusting my seat and the mirror in all positions. None work. View is slightly better at the lowest position of the seat. But for me, it’s like sitting in a bucket with my knees above the seat and the thighs not supported. Not comfy. Reasonably happy though. We bought it inspite of identifying these issues in the test ride. The rear view mirror is starting to get to me though. I hope I get used to it
In Dec 2023, we were in the market for a proper automatic car in the 10-11 lakhs budget. I test drove i20 first and really enjoyed the IVT smoothness and it's plush cabin and just how good it feels put together. I then test drove Baleno and immediately told my wife and friends, how Baleno drives better and it's engine is so much fun & peppy. If not for the AMT gearbox and that cabin experience, the Baleno would have come home, but we went for the i20. As a proud i20 owner, I'd still say that for most of the people out there, Baleno is still the best buy in a 10L segment.
Owner of i10 2021 and baleno 2024. Had a long drive in both. The baleno offers comfort on highways and city whereas i10 is bouncy on bad roads. And the engine is so much quiet also the mileage difference is about 4km. The baleno give 4 km more mileage compared to i10. Wonder how this car is so quiet at the same time delivers fantastic power and mileage.
7 years already with the beast and going strong for many more still feels good with design and equipment..and best is maruthi service...its the best money can buy under 10 lack..
I myself doubt if I will buy a Baleno again once I have a family of my own (cuz of lack of safety), but what I know for sure is I will damn miss this engine.. there is NOTHING in the market which gives so much power with so much efficiency and smoothness.. Road trips cost a fraction of what they would with bus/train tickets while you can enjoy the lounge like experience of spacious seats! The cabin noise is nowhere to be found and what I love about Maruti is they don't showoff brands.. the non-branded speaker system in my 2016 Baleno sound BETTER than the so called 'JBL' or 'Harman' speakers being advertised by Tata and Mahindras. The part sharing is there among cheaper Marutis but no part lacks quality, no switch has malfunctioned till now, can't say the same for my brother's Nexon (wiper malfucntion and what not.. complete breakdown on highway in just 2nd year which cost 15k to get fixed).

@@motorinc Best paid review I have ever seen in my life🤣. What's about safety for a family car?
Aha there we go again. So every Indian family should sell the car they own and buy a VW or Tata? Come on man. As much as it is about the car it is also about the driver. I'm driving baleno from 2019. Done 76,000 kms. Apart from the sheet matel (it scratches easily) no issues till now. It's running on stock tyres till today.
Hey Mridul! Please do change tyres! Please!

What mileage does it give you in city
Hello again! We feel performance gap will also be big. Especially in day to day driving.
@@motorinc My observation is K12 has a quirkier low end and a flat mid whereas Kappa is linear at both, low and mid. Basically, what I meant is, K12 - Kappa delta is relatively lower than K12 - Others.
am confused between baleno ags and i20 ivt.. I like 360 cam and mileage of baleno but smoothness of ivt ...
The question I always ask is "in the real world, what does that other car do that the Baleno can't?"
The back seat is so spacious that my late 5' 2" mother used to lounge in it.

Hey Aditya, that last line is so true. KS was a Swift fan. Now, just sad. 😑
What I observed -
Pros-
1. Smooth engine with good low end punch. Mid range is okayish.
2. Fuel efficiency is good too (16-18 in city and 23-27 on highways)
Cons -
1. Mid range punch is average.
2. Plastic quality of lower part of dashboard is only average. Some rattles have started above driver's side ac vent and other areas.
3. Performance of engine in hilly areas is not great. I went to Shimla with 2 people and a little luggage. It performed poorly in some steep incline conditions (I was using alto k10 before this, so maybe I found the performance average in compairson)
7. Front armrest opening and closing mechanism has become slightly loose after using it for 6 months
12. Glovebox size is really small
Owner manual and some small items and it is already full.
Thank you for sharing your experience in such great detail
@nimishtandon4455 ❤️
cabin experience can always be revamped for 8-12k but the mileage and utilitarian aspect of this car is just brilliant.
Thanks for sharing @abir95571! Glad to hear from an owner.
Hello Rahul and UB! Good to hear about the cars in your garages! Wish you guys awesome travels.
@@rahultalari1241 I own 2020 Baleno Zeta. With me and my dad being 6'2 and mom and sister being around 5' 10, the space in Baleno made us go for it no matter what. This is the only model in this segment with so much space to offer. Happy with my Baleno!
So, is it not stable above 120 on highways?
@@Dhinchu I try to cap myself to 120 on highways. When I exceed 120, it's generally for a very short while. But it does feel a little bouncy then. End of the day it's a family car and has its limitations. This shouldn't be a deal breaker if you are considering a Baleno.
In 2022, we were planning to upgrade from a 2009 WagonR to a new car. My dad and I were happy with the new WagonR, but my sister wasn't. My sister and dad were happy with the swift, I wasn't.
Baleno AMT is a nice VFM car...I am not talkn abt build quality here..The engine is smooth as butter..all basic required features...
I would advice to stick with Fronx assuming you plan to keep it for long period of time.

Reasons why we chose Glanza over Baleno:
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing insights about your decision @TheLonelyLobo. Congratulations on the new car! We wish you lots of fun time with it.

Thank you for watching @joeldarlong3196
The No to baleno starts with the seat comfort & space for 3 people in the back seat, it does not hold a candle to i20 seats. The cabin does not feel as airy as i20
I test drove the baleno manual while cross shopping with the 2017 i20 to replace the 2010 i20.
Thanks for sharing your take @biswabratakundu7337.
Hey JR! Thanks for sharing all of that here. Super helpful for other viewers too. Wish you great rides with it!
Much awaited video! Kudos to Motorinc for making the wise topic videos!!
Thank you for watching @aniketmaity7237.
Thanks for sharing @pinakumate2505! How are you liking it so far?
@@motorinc Driving experience is good and I feel good for its exterior looks and appeal
Getting my hand on this beauty by the end of this week 😇
Congratulations Monty! Thanks for letting us into your garage! Wish you awesome travels with it.
Thanks for sharing @1binufrancis, glad to hear from an owner!😄

@@motorinc welcome!! Amazing content you guys are making 😊😊
I got baleno alpha ags last month. I thank god and proud of my choice for baleno. The premium feel and space on the inside is top notch 👍
I sometimes don't feel getting out of the car.. haa..haa 🤭
Hahaha! Alrighty. That’s a lucky car then. Take care of it.
@shibooster..am confused between baleno ags and i20 ivt.. I like 360 cam and mileage of baleno but smoothness of ivt ... inputs pls Anyone
Here are my impressions of my Baleno zeta manual for an year now.
Pain points:
There is a door noise even on slightly uneven tarmac.
Engine performance & efficiency drops significantly with AC you need to push the pedal hard to get the power to move in a bumper-bumper traffic or slight gradient. Being a light footer its a curse.
The front seats are well designed but somehow it gave me lower back issue & I always find myself looking for comfort in the seat
Dynamic handling at cruising speeds 90-100 could be better
There is body roll while cornering at 90-100 possibly due to softer suspensions
Likes:
Simple car with all utilities required and no nonsense
Smooth suspension
Engine refinement
FE : Normal FE 20-22 on highways, I did a mileage test for 30 kms at a 40-50 constant speed on a state highway & it was able to fetch 32 kmpl, super impressive.
Long drives are good not the best due to my seating discomfort.
Comfortable back seats
Large boot space &many more
I am planning to keep this car for at least 6-7 years before my next upgrade.
Thank you for sharing your experience @akashk7509, good to hear from an owner. How has the service been for you?

I bought Baleno zeta in July 2024..after that I am watching your video 3/4 times.. आपकी शांत आवाज अच्छी लगती हैं😊
Thank you very much @navinkumarsatpute170! Hope you're having fun with the Baleno.
Before we get to the big "C" controversy, i.e. crash tests, let's address the other shortcomings of the Baleno that haven't been addressed in this video:
1) Aside from the engine, the Baleno screams medicore and boring in every aspect.
Thanks for sharing your take. But, we’ll agree to disagree.
@@motorinc Which part, though? The scary steering, poor suspension, their decision to switch from CVT to AMT on a premium hatchback, or that their famed reliablity is bogus? Not even going to the crash rating because that's a lost cause. :)
You seem a bit angry. Everything okay?
@@langelomisterioso8284My friend's celerio amt runned 2 lac 25k kms..nothing was changed apart from regular oil change and general service!!
Balenos suspension and AMT gear box are super reliable no doubt in it.

baleno or i20 which is best? smoothness/mileage/power ...
Thank you for sharing your experience @vinothanan1066!
Thank you for sharing Siddharth! Glad to hear from an owner. How has the service experience been for you?
@@motorinc being a first time owner I have been charged with carburetor cleaning and synthetic oil shenanigans. But now I am more informed about skipping the extras. Apart from that no complaints in terms of customer interaction and servicing itself.
I hav it since 2017. Done about 1.25 lac km. Wide seats with bucket seat covers make it feel like a City or Verna.
Hav travelled more than 600 kms in a day many times.
Its more comfortable than any other hatchback.
Wow! That heavy usage! Good to know. How has service been?
Thanks a lot for making this video Kartikeya, especially the last few. We own a 2018 Delta variant in the extended family and has clocked 92k kms compared to our brand new Altroz (bought to phase out Baleno when it reaches 100k kms) which has been facing niggles in 1000kms or less. Wish better sense prevailed in this day and age over the "safety rating" way of marketing and advertisement.
Heya! Thanks for sharing your garage life here with us. So, what plans for the Altroz then?
@@motorinc I guess it's here to stay, niggles or otherwise. It's going to be the city car now (contrary to the intention). I wouldn't be surpised if we end up retaining the Baleno or end up replacing it with a Fronx Boosterjet or Brezza.
Thanks for making real brother to brother review of Baleno, taking delivery soon.🤝🤗
Congratulations @shivamurmaliya5848! Thanks for sharing it with us. We wish you lots of awesome times in the Baleno 🤗
The lack of rear wiper is i think addressed by the glanza with its G variant. almost same cost too but better offers
Great idea AV!
Hey AK! Great to hear from you and your experience. Yeah - the AMT is a convenient enough solution. Not all evil. 😁
Hi KS ...As Honda Amaze and Suzuki Baleno are in similar price range , can you make a video comparison of them in manual nd automatic variants??
Hey N! We would love to. However an Amaze test car has been a long wait. And there should be a new one sometime later this year.
I would love that too!
Thanks Kartikeya for this.. Your video made me go try the Baleno. we just booked ours few days back. Getting the delivery on first week of OCT.
Congratulations @mp7a! Thanks for sharing, we wish you lots of fun drives on the Baleno.
You guys should make a video on Ignis- the most underrated and vfm car right now.
Yessah!
Congratulations @uvuvwevwevweossaswithglasses! Thanks for sharing, we wish you lots of awesome times with the Glanza!
Proud Glanza owner here😁🙏🏽
Hello @GR-squadX! How has Toyota's service been for you?
I've never heard such a detailed and beautiful description of a tin can before.
Hey SJ, like we said at the end of- keep an open mind. Would you drive one and let us know what you think? Thanks!
I am curious about Kartikay's Ignis and why Ignis and not any other car?
Heya again TB, have you driven one? Might help explain things…
I am curious about this too. I did not drive ignis. But i will have presumed you would have preferred baleno or swift
Here’s the thing - they did go to buy the Baleno. But, the higher seating position of the Ignis made his wife feel more at home. But, Kartikeya was happy - he had wanted the Ignis anyway. Small and zippy.
@@motorinc - will you do a faq in Ignis?
We did decide to keep the Nano. Its still my sweetheart, gave us 4 wheels and a comfy AC to travel with my family when a more expensive car would have been tough. We can only lose it, cant buy it again even if we wanted to. Keeping that car around now.
Keep up the good work.
Sounds amazing @11Sentinel, thank you for sharing.
No solution, it is the geometry of the car which cant be changed. Fixed in new baleno though to a great extent
Hey V! And thanks MKB 😁!
That’s right it’s down to the steering geometry and the electro motor for the steering. You can’t fix that. 😑
This video is inspiring me to get BALENO for sure.
Go for it buddy, It's a no brainer car for sure
Do take a test drive @TamilMusicVibe

Hey what's the on road price you got ? Curious
I always was in love with the name "Baleno"
the old ones were 🔥
the new gen is ❤
But, I badly want an update on the Baleno as the Fronx & i20 N line came on...
With the hardware in Baleno & new features that are coming with i20 could have made this a great car, could attract much more buyers too 🤘
The only thing will be it could hamper the Fronx sales...
The last sentence of this video also struck hard. I used to say this to my friends in some situations. Take things with an open mind, because the only person losing is just you.
Hey Aravind, have you driven the sedan? 😁
Thanks for helping your friends out.
@@motorinc yeah, had driven it a long time ago, that too for a shirt spin. That stays inside 🤘
That was a sweet engine!
Awesome to hear that @raunakroy7520. Thank you for watching.
Damn!!! This channel so smoothening to watch and this video changed my opinion and the way i look at Baleno
Thank you for sharing @prasanthraghu1943.
Thanks KK for sharing your experience. Glad to know!

Sounds like you're having a wonderful time with it @prashob7715. Thanks for sharing!
i am not sure between Baleno and i20. could you please tell me for what reasons you cancelled i20. i am considering automatic cars. Thanks
No complaints whatsoever and being a maruti, its just easy to live with
Awesome to hear from an owner @rohitbhasyerinmal8106. Thank you for sharing.

Congratulations @pratilmokal9248! Thanks for letting us know, we wish you lots of fun drives with it.
I'm running my 2016 baleno right now.
Just I installed the "non-technical, so called meaningless item ROGERAB SPRING BUFFERS" on all 4 wheels.
Here is my feedback including car:
Pros:
Cons:
Thank you for sharing your experience @naganjansl4619.
So good to see all positive comments for the Baleno!
Beautiful explanation style sir👌
Thank you for watching @ananddb8897
I have been driving my baleno alpha AMT for like 8 month and covered around 12000km. All i have to say is that it is the best car in the budget period.
Glad to hear your take BS! Wish you awesome travels with it.
Haven't heard so many praises for any vehicle in a very long time. I guess apart from new Himalayan or Duke 390. That's a new for me in the car category from your end. Never expected this!
just bought a glanza as my first car😁 thanks for the advice
Congratulations @akashsarma8241. Thank you for sharing with us!
Just bought the new baleno delta MT, and it’s just amazing…the engine is pretty smooth, the interiors are soothing and the body dynamics of the car is just great.Apart from the AC all the things are great in this car 👍🏻
Yes the AC struggles a bit on a hot day and its a shame its that way in a premium HB. I own a baleno too....
@@rajeshr8121 what is the average u are getting ???
@@rajeshr8121is ac an issue ?As I live in delhi ncr, where 8 months it's hot
@KartikAggarwal-pn1vg Yup AC is not so great...would be fine on nights and normal temperatures. But would be totally useless on sweltering hot summers and can be managed to some extent by high quality sunfilms on all glasses. If you are looking for a chiller unit during summers then this car is not for you.
i own Sigma manual clocked 43k kms in 18 months.... very good in both city and highways....

Video quality, the background score and Kartikeya's brilliant narration are class apart from other YT automotive channels.
Great video guys! Keep it up!
Thank you for spending time with us and for sharing your feedback. 🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing @viveksingh330. We hope you're having fun with the i20.
You Settled...
was Phenomenal 🔥👍
(Loved Depth of understanding & feel u gathered)
Thank you 🙌
Owner of i10 2021 and baleno 2024.
Hey AS! Glad to hear about your drives! Keep us posted on your travels! Thanks.
7 years already with the beast and going strong for many more still feels good with design and equipment..and best is maruthi service...its the best money can buy under 10 lack..
Thanks for sharing @hemanthraju1990. Good to have an owner's take.
