42 years old , haven't hit a ball in 20+ years. Immediately I began cracking balls , not over the 310 sign in right field (lefty) but over the trees behind the fence and multiple girls on our 9u softball team were crushing balls into the outfield.
10:50 is a critical piece of info. Richard has talked so much about the wrist supination he rarely talks about the wrist adjustment to adjust the bat direction on the fly. This brought it all together for me. I'm just sorry I found this video so late. Hope this helps someone else!
This is incredible. I have been using this for golf. I watched a few of his videos and practiced in my living room with a baseball bat. First swing on the range I felt a snap I’ve never felt before. I am a mid 70s player and I have been looking for this feeling. Martin Ayers has videos about this in golf but I couldn’t get it until I watched these videos. Golf is not backswing and downswing, but a continuous circle of loading and releasing the wound up pressure. Club head delivers straight to the ball every time effortlessly. Can’t wait to work on this more! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Mr Teacherman!! This is wonderful and I infinitely appreciate you for sharing your knowledge from your detailed research. Blessed With All Blessings
I’m a tennis pro certified at the highest level and I’m gonna try to learn from this guy’s findings and apply them to the modern tennis swing. A lot of it seems consistent with the top tennis ball strikers. Don’t “step into the ball,” rather rotate around an axis. I thought it was the spine but I’m gonna keep watching and listening to this guy.
Pro tennis an amatuer need real mid size racquets...not this over sized club player racquets...i tryed playing with one and it started ripping a ligament in my hand the same one that Agassi had trouble witj...tje head flutters ro much at real fast speeds...pros an amatuers dont need a big giant racquet head their vision is way superior to a club player in their 50s which is the target of oversized racquets...it was so bad a racquet i said no more injurys from a car accident took most of me...an the racquet was the end...
@@kelliebrooks9094 Almost all the “performance” or “players” rackets nowadays are about 100 square inches. The days of 110 sq. in. oversized and 90 sq. in. midsize rackets are long gone. If someone is a 5-foot-2 low intermediate player, he/she could use an “oversized” 107-115 inch racket but everyone else should just use a popular 100sq. in racket. Better technique and a looser stringing will help your injuries.
I mean this with all do respect… This is like when George Costanza was hitting home runs in Yankee stadium because he perfect the mechanics of his swing 😁
Im 42. I always had fast bat speed as a kid and could always hit bombs at the driving range ... so I guess I kind of did this ... after watching this guys videos and fine tuning what I was already doing naturally ... when it finally all clicks together ... It feels so powerful. Its crazy ... And yes, at first when I watched him. I thought it looked stupid and it felt weird. But once it clicks, you are like "Holy sh*t"
This starts to make sense when you realize that while he is emphasizing the hands "swivel" (minute 10) that he is also using shoulder tilt, arms are moving, and hips are opening. So when he says hands, he really means "everything" since "everything" fires at the same time. His point is "launch quickness" and the only way "quick" happens is when all of those things fire at once. Meanwhile look at his first "swivel" swing. He's swinging at a high pitch and his shoulders are mostly level. As he swings as progressively lower pitches his shoulders tilt more and more. So it isn't just the hand hinge thing. So if a wrist or hands cue just doesn't work for you, call it a shoulder tilt cue, or a back elbow firing cue or whatever works to get that "everything" move
This method is very applicable to a golf swing, and it explains why Ben Hogan, the GOAT of golf swings, was a fan of Ted Williams’ swing and had an extra spike custom on his shoe of the trail foot. 🤯
I not only like this hitting philosophy, I implement aspects of it into my game. The one thing that always catches me up is how this guy is very suggestive that this is “definitively” the best approach of all great hitters. And anyone who doesn’t hit this way is going off athletic ability with bad mechanics. I just disagree. I feel there are aspects of this philosophy that can benefit any player, however some people are extremely effective hitters with unorthodox mechanics that shouldn’t be messed with. It’d be a shame to see a good hitter feeling like he needs to entirely change his mechanics after watching something like this. Everyone’s power, flexibility, timing etc is different. A 150lb kid with absolutely flawless mechanics, but not very strong, could still be a less productive hitter than a very powerful hitter with not so good mechanics. I just wish he would iterate into this program; that there is some give and take to some of these philosophies.
This makes me so mad. I have videos of me in little league doing nearly the same thing. Admittedly my hands were lower than they should've been, but it was a similar idea of weight staying back, rotating around the hip, and the forearm/bat relationship i.e. ferris wheel vs carousel. I was doing it because it felt natural and matched what I did when self tossing balls into the cage. I was a high average line drive hitter hitting first or second on travel teams. Despite this, all my coaches taught us swing down, slap the short person, shift your weight, keep the rear shoulder up, etc. By the time I was in highschool I was a weak ground ball machine. All those liners in the gaps were now easy outs for the middle infielders. I'm not delusional and I was never going to be better than a mid hs player, but I could have had a lot more fun doing it. I've been teaching this to my son and my tee ball team. I've had a lot of pushback from dads who were taught the same things I was. But I've got a few six year olds and their parents who've bought in and are absolutely smoking balls off the tee. Hoping by this spring we've got some more believers.
You're absolutely right my son just started doing it and dropped four home runs in a two-day tournament and he's only 11 years old and I have the videos to prove it
Does your online class include drills and things that hitters can do in their training each day? Like a list of drills or a suggested routine? I also purchased the propeller bat and was wondering if there were drills for this?
Definitely would love to see more glove review videos. I'm a fan of Marucci, but I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on one of their high end gloves. There are too many quirks that may not show up until the gloce is broken in. The unadjustable thimb and pinky slots MAY NOT be a problem, but if kt doesn't work, I'd hate to be stuck with a glove I don't like. They are well designed but I wish they were a bit more...traditional.
Hey coach I saw the video we’re you said the guys are way off worrying about exit velo. In your opinion, which measurable should we be focused on if not exit velo?
@@baertheblader9402 its hard to explain , but basically you have to completely eliminate the thought of pushing the bat forward , its basically all wrist snap ,
"Masterclass" implies comprehensive knowledge of hitting, which this video doesn't come close to having. Swing mechanics are but a part of being a good hitter, pitch recognition and mental approach are every bit as vital. The best hitting instructors would never teach a swing with this much head movement, as seeing the baseball is the most important facet of hitting.

Why didn’t I learn this when I was younger…. You finally made the swing make sense to me. Would you use all these same mechanics for slow pitch?
Haha that’s what I said to all my buddies I fwd this video to, we’re all reaching out kids this
Teaching
you can, my dad started using it for slow pitch, don't be expecting to drive it out the park though, the faster the pitch is the better the swing is
Only difference would be that you can get more leg/hip thrust in slow pitch simply by having more time to move
