    The biggest part of all this is preventing all the “old habits” from creeping back in, (e.g. shifting your weight forward and using your back arm to push the bat forward)!
    Learning to balance the majority of your weight on your back foot before and during your “snap” at the start of your swing!

    Agree with the swing mechanics for baseball and fast pitch softball. I haven’t tried but I play slow pitch now in my 40s. Do you think swinging like this will generate the extra power needed to hit a ball coming much slower??

    • @nikolai6817

      Usually Rich says this isn't about power. It's more about good contact more consistently.

      @@nikolai6817 Amd it’s still nonsense. Letting your hands go quickly like that as a first move will also get you more strikeouts. How are you holding up on an off speed and check swinging if your first move is to turn the barrel like he says?

    Rich is Golf's Dalton McCrary of baseball. If you don't know Dalton McCrary, his philosophy is to release the clunhead early. He says that the pros are quick enough to snap their wrists at the bottom of the swing, but the average person isn't. But, the pros, when out of sync, can't hit either. That's why they don't win every week. By releasing the clubhead early he creates a 36 inch zone to hit the ball. The same philosophy as Rich has in baseball. Dalton was hated on also by conventional golfers as is Rich. Keep up the good work Rich.
    BTW, Dalton's Program Turned me from a hacker to a 5 HC. No complaints from me. I'm going to try to implement Rich's philosophy on my grandson.

    That's very funny to hear him say the ball eventually runs into the ark. When I was still questionable about this swing I was in my yard and I spun the ball around in the circle off the T that's attached to an arm. And with that bat on the angle that the walls real creates eventually that spin will always hit the bat. I know that's not the same as hitting a pitched ball but that was my big aha moment with this swing. We could almost never hit the ball when it was spinning full spin with our old swing. But just leaving the bat in the downward angle the ball will hit the bat eventually every single time

    It's like golf Mike you only grab the bat where it don't fly out of your Hand just you were gonna swing it would feel like it would almost lay out of your head that's a Perfect grip that's why you use the knob on the bottom the looser to grip the faster to swing cause there's no stress on your muscles

      Think as having two essential pivot point. Your wrists turning the barrel rearward, and your rear hip joint tilting and turning. Those 2 pivot points moving in conjunction will get the barrel to the ball. Your arms will extend through contact.

      Yes!! We’ve taught all this to My 10 yr old daughter and some of her teammates. They no longer struggle when playing against competitive strong high level pitchers in their age group. It’s a game changer. It won’t happen over night but as long as they do their drills and are mentally ready to swing when in the box then they’ll be successful in hitting lasers against high level pitchers.

      @tootallforbaseball 7 месяцев назад

      @@danielhoward4566 I teach hitting 7 days a week. There are several MLB hitters who, for some insane reason, say to go directly to the ball, but in reality, when you look at their swing in slow motion, they do get slightly below center right before contact. (For what it is worth, there are pitchers who say that they keep their elbow bent when they throw curveballs. That is also not what really happens.) It is physically impossible to elevate the ball if you are swinging on the top of the ball. You have to get on plane with the ball and make contact slightly below center. I saw that podcast you are referring to. This guy is off balance because he has no balance, 70 or not. He is trying to mimic Barry Bonds. My business partner is 72 and never gets out of balance when he swings.

    I do not think you are wrong, hitting is fascinating and as long as you are an athlete, you understand your swing and you can see the ball well, you have good chances of becoming a good hitter. However, what you are saying is incorrect is exactly what the best hitter on the last two decades has been doing. That being said, I know that Aaron Judge is doing your method and it works for him, but saying that your way is the only way to hit a baseball and be successful is far from the ultimate truth. My Regards. Fernando Suarez
