    All these people criticizing this guy's technique and what he's teaching, let's not forget he turned Aaron judge's swing around. He's the reason Aaron Judge is even in the big leagues still, let alone how great he is.

      This approach exposes the hands, wrists, and elbows. Look at how many players get hurt by inside fastballs. It's why players wear armor to the plate. Take away protective gear, and this approach goes away in a month.

    I haven't held a bat in 10+ years. I went to the batting cages with my girl, after watching some of your videos, and was really cracking those balls. That wind up really puts tension on your muscles like a rubber band and SNAP! Thank you for posting!

      Do not teach this to your 8 year old, or anyone for that matter. He will develop a much better swing on his own with a heavy bat. If you teach this to your 8 year old you are dooming his chances.

    So are supposed to snap the bat straight back like the first teaching or rotate the wrist and forearm like the second teaching? I don’t see how you can do both. Also when I try those wrist motions I feel like they lock me up. Doesn’t feel natural or kinesthetic at all.

      From what I'm gathering in this video and others is the tilt and turning movement takes you through the ball and gives the "hands inside" look that the push swingers preach.

    The only reason people resist this instruction is because how he exaggerates the tilt. The head doesn't actually do that, it's just exaggerated.

  • @philplante6524

    What looks "funny" when you tilt is that you let your head tilt up as if you're looking at something in the sky. If you do that, you aren't tracking the ball. Sure, you need to tilt but not the head - I think the head needs to stay still, level, and fixed on the incoming pitch. N'est ce pas?

    I have two problems with this. It’s hard to understand and what he shows when he’s explaining looks nothing like it when he actually swings. It looks to me to be the same how everyone else swings🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @mrd4865
      @mrd4865 Год назад +1

      Agreed, I've watched a bunch of these videos on 1/4 speed so I can pause it frame by frame and break down exactly what's happening and full speed swings are not what he's describing and demonstrating slowly.
      Maybe just the feeling of trying to do what he describes causes you to swing with the hands in a little better? I do like some of the load and wait approach from this and the swing on release drill is good for young hitters that are always late. I'm no expert, just looking for help coaching kids. Honestly I think each hitter has to find their own swing. Certain aspects will be pretty core to hitting the ball harder or being a better contact hitter.

      @@mrd4865 I’ve just recently started to teach my nine year old a different way to bat and to see if he can mimic Aaron Judge slow motion hitting. He has gone from pushing the ball with mostly arm strength to just letting the arms go for the ride. Before, he was just getting it over the infielders, but now he’s hitting the fence with two bounces. The coil in the rear leg up the thigh into the torso and shoulders are making it possible. Once that coil has released, the stiff arms holding the bat just goes along for the ride. Knob towards catcher, left pants pocket towards pitcher(coil). It took about 10 minutes for him to figure it out. If you take a look at Judge, just watch the bat and see how long it stays where it is until that coil releases.

    I wonder what it feels like to be Jeff Frye right now. You have Major League Baseball and ESPN on your side but you know damn well you are on the wrong side of history, and that it won't be very long before everyone realizes you've been defending the old, wrong way.

  • @matthewswanson5623
    @matthewswanson5623 Год назад +3

    See how he loses his balance and almost falls down at 2:02 using his tilting tactic? That's because when you lean back like that, you are off balance, and anytime you are off balance, you are losing power, not gaining it. Also, leaning back, is moving your head back away from the ball, making it very difficult to keep your eye on the ball throughout the swing. Doesn't everyone know by now, that the number one key to seeing the ball and therefore hitting the ball, is keeping your head as motionless as possible throughout the swing? If anyone has had success with this, it's a fluke or they are taking the little bits of this that are somewhat correct, and accidentally implementing into something that resembles a correct swing. Sheesh this is so cringeworthy.

    • @rickwebermusic

      His main claim to fame is his work with Aaron Judge. So if you're happy being a career .283 hitter, then by all means, follow this man's instruction. But if you'd rather be a career .338 hitter- like Tony Gwynn, this guy's method will fail you. As a pitcher who played at the collegiate & professional level, I would salivate at the opportunity to face a lineup that swings how this guy is teaching.

    • @TrainAllSports
      @TrainAllSports Год назад +1

      I thought the same thing. The tilt the way he demonstrates, takes his head and eyes way off target. I also tried to hit like this and as expected, I hit ground balls to short and weak flys to right (RHH).

    This is a master class in how to swing and miss...which is serious problem in MLB, even with all the rule changes. Just imagine if MLB raised the pitching back up the 5 inch it removed in 1968. And in case you missed it, that is 55 years ago. The pitching today is not so great. It is basically the same as it was in 1950.
