Considering there are Bishops that do nothing but honor the TLM, I would think a diocesan bishop could learn something.

Which Mass was said in the Temple in Jerusalem? Jews celebrated Passover every year Jews worshipped the Messiah in advance. Those Passover Prayers are Perpetual and can't be changed. Don't mind this lot fiddling with words . Millions of Roman Catholics murdered by Nazis and Communists Secret Societies to get the Tridentine Mass out. PaulVI gave into the Communists as the Communists accepted Protestantism.
It was an overthrow by change. Get real you lot Popes praying at a six foot wall in Jerusalem What did Jesus Christ say about the Temple in Jerusalem It will be demolished and not one stone would remain.
Catholics Babble they are incapable of following.

The motu proprio of Pope Benedict XVI is still in effect. The bishop no longer has the ultimate say, but it is left to individual priests at parishes to make that decision. Your bishop may not like it, but it is not up to him.

I worked at a church in San Antonio many years ago. One day, when still new on the job, I was looking for brass polish, and found it plus a few rags in a cabinet in a room off the sacristy. Underneath all of this was the altar stone (containing relics of saints), that was taken from the old high altar before it was destroyed. I believe that this sums up the mindset of those who "fear" the Tridentine Mass to a "T".

    • @mottledbrain
      @mottledbrain 5 лет назад

      Awful and Shocking indeed.
How could it have come to the point where some poor soul(s) didn't even know that they were handling a holy Relic?!?
When the church down the road (celebrating the Novus Ordo only) was renovated the priest told the whole congregation about the Relic in the altar.
The priest also moved Our Lord back to being front and centre rather than off to the side.
Unfortunately things have gone way downhill since then. (More protestant every year.)

Yaaaa, i agree with him. Because all the modern priest don't know how to celebrate the Latin Traditional Mass. Not only the priest, all modern Catholics People especially youth people must know and go to participate in Latin Traditional Mass in Church. Pope Benedict XVI is agree to all the priest/bishop/archbishop/cardinal who can or want to celebrate the Latin Traditional Mass in the apostolic letter of Summorum Pontificum, so we must to use this Opportunities to know the Latin Traditional Mass. GBU ALL OF YOU and GOD BLESS Archbishop Sample

He is very right! Without understanding the extraordinary form of the Mass it will be very difficult to understand the ordinary form, since the ordinary form is based on that one. The ordinary form is a simplification in some aspects of the older form and therefore we have to understand the very things behind the practices of today that come from the older form. If we see it in this way I belive that the conflict between the uses of the Mass will dissapear. All it comes to in the end is our inner disposition and relation to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The crisis in the Church have forced us to really dig deeper in to the faith to understand it better, which is one good fruit that came from the struggle we are passing through in our times.

God Bless Archbishop Sample. He is right up there with the great ones in the Church today.
I can only suspect those who have an aversion to the traditional mass may be sensing the torment of the ancient enemy.
This mass may disturb the conscience. But this is not a bad thing at all. Au contraire! In fact it is the perfect prescription by the Holy Ghost through the church fathers provided for us all, with great care to bring a soul towards sainthood, to KNOW thyself.
The traditional mass spoken in Latin offering the sacrifice that Jesus the Christ made for all souls from Adam and Eve to present into perpetuity, is a most powerful exorcism...because it is an eternal memorial that Christ triumphed over Satan by His offering to be the Lamb of God who takest away the sins of the world.
In the traditional mass, Christ is King in all His majesty.

Demographics is destiny and beauty will win out over banality.
I believe a century from now, when the baby boomers (clerical and laity) who have reduced the Church to her present poor state, are well on their way to becoming dust, the TLM will have regained its former and proper place. The Novus Ordo will be well on its way to being as forgotten as those who hoisted it upon us.
    Catholicism will be restored!

There are a few directories you can refer to online to find one in hopefully reasonable proximity to your town. Otherwise, you have a certain duties and rights under Motu proprio Summorum Pontificum when it comes to bringing the Mass of Ages to your home parish. See if you can discuss such a possibility with a group of parishioners and, once you are organized, approach your pastor charitably. w2.vatican.va/content/benedict-xvi/en/motu_proprio/documents/hf_ben-xvi_motu-proprio_20070707_summorum-pontificum.html --as well as-- w2.vatican.va/content/benedict-xvi/en/letters/2007/documents/hf_ben-xvi_let_20070707_lettera-vescovi.html

I did once and sat way in the back on the right side and while saying his Mass the priest turned to see who was sitting there..I was not impressed to say the least. He is supposed to be praying to GOD and not who is in the church. So yes, The LATIN MASS should never have been taken away from Us. AMEN And I thank GOD all the time for bringing me there on August 14, the Assumption of The Virgin Mary. Thanks Archbishop, hope you become Our New Pope someday soon. Take care and GOD Bless you. While the Latin Mass had its own beauty in it time, we as Church have evolved. The theology in the Latin Rite places burdens with an emphasis on sin on the people’s backs. Our liturgies in any of our Churches should be life giving. It is a place where community happens. Prayer and action for the common good is real and heart felt. It is a place where active participation between the people and their God become manifested and icelebrated. The question of bringing back this rite begs a deeper conversation between the hierarchy and the people as to what is the vision for the future of Christianity? Is this ritual really touching the lived reality of the people in the pew? Is the Mass Latin or English speaking deeply to people lived experience? I continue to pray that the Bishops and Leaders might dare to be visionary and empower the people, rather than taking them back to a past time in history. I pray that clergy be creative, visionary and not only listen deeply, but manifest in reality of the people’s lived reality.

Nancy, try spending a good number of months assisting (not merely "attending") at a Traditional Latin Mass.
You experience the Sacred. I usually have to go to a Novus Ordo Mass. There is very little sacred there, even though we are in the very Presence of Our Lord. It is SO sad!
The Traditional Latin Mass is truly life giving. The beauty of the music and the language raises one's thoughts to heaven. The silence while the Holy Ghost uses the priest to perform the most extraordinary miracle brings our souls into the mystery of what we are participating in.
Active participation is essential in either form of Mass, "active participation" meaning having total focus on what we are experiencing at the foot of the cross. (That's why I use the praise "assisting at Mass" rather than "attending Mass".)

We are one of the few places in the United States where the Traditional Dominican Rite is still offered every Sunday and on all important Feasts and Holy Days of Obligation. Read his response to TC, it is very clear he still "has the [fortitude & courage] to defend his flock.

The reverence of kneeling for communion, Bowing at the name of Jesus, doing a full genuflection at the incarnatus est of the Creed or the final blessing, reverence of Gregorian chant, traditional Church architecture and statues that lift up the spirit, less hand holding and no ad populi that put emphasis on the people rather than God, 3 repetitions of the Dominus Dignus which emphasizes humility, etc. I can go on and on.

There is NOTHING extraordinary about the TLM. The TLM is the ordinary form from before 1965.

Here's some advice for everyone: Go to Mass (Tridentine) everyday & offer up your Holy Communion to Jesus Christ to give us Good Holy Priests according to his Heart!

There is only one Mass of the Roman Rite: the Latin Roman Mass. It is the ordinary form.

When I was educated in Catholic school before Vatican11 the Tridentine Latin Mass was Perpetual and couldn't be changed It was Christ's Mass .
Now its the TLM and another mass is acceptable. Most of my family taught the same as me left the Catholic Church and never returned. Many left the Catholic Church. I also left and I am more interested in a branch of 7th Day Adventists. Prof Walter Veith.
I can't ever return to a Church that taught for 1965 years the Tridentine Latin Mass was Perpetual and couldn't be changed. Now its almost been denied that it was Perpetual and that Popes can create their own gibberish.

While Archbishop Sample is right on the whole, and I thank him for that, I disagree on two issues:
    - In a way, the EF can be harmful. Not per se of course (as the archbishop said, it is very beautiful and it has nourished the lives of so many saints during four centuries). But because of some of the people who want it. Sometimes, the attachment to the EF is similar to a huge disrespect for the OF, for Vatican II, for the Church. In this way, the EF can in fact be harmful.
    - If a Council asked for the revision of the 1962 Missal, it is because the Church saw that Missal wasn't perfect. So I think one day will come where we will have a third Roman Missal, incorporating the best of the OF and EF. And we will have peace.

    • @garrettquigley8710
      @garrettquigley8710 6 лет назад +3

Well said. However the comment about EF not being harmful was primarily Pope Benedict's, and the archbishop was simply reiterating it. Also, there is plenty to read about the contrast between the council's design of the novus ordo and its implementation, from which much confusion and dissent flowed. But we indeed must pray for peace!

    • @BuckDanny2314
      @BuckDanny2314 6 лет назад +2

True. The Novus Ordo Missae is indeed quite different from what the Council fathers thought, even when celebrated with great care. Nevertheless, they saw everything wasn't perfect in the ancient Roman Missal. Out of more than 2000 Council fathers, all but a few of them signed a document ordering to restore and reform the roman rite. It was indeed reformed, but in such a way that is not in full agreement with the decisions of the Council.
As a result, we have a non reformed Mass and a unsufficiently reformed Mass. I hope one day the OF will go back on some reforms while the EF will adopt some good ones (and there are plenty in the OF).
You are very right: let us pray for Peace !

You must be a troll to lie like that.
      1. Vatican II did not revise the 1962 missal. The Novus Ordo is an entirely new rite of sacraments created by Annibale Bugnini and 6 protestant ministers in a liturgical consilium in 1969, which is illegal against Session VII, Canon XIII of the Council of Trent and 1500 years of Papal Teaching.
      2. The Mass is the #1 prayer of the church. The Mass is the Sacrifice of Jesus on the Altar. Are you saying that the Sacrifice of Jesus is not perfect? You have committed blasphemy.
Case closed. You are a blasphemer.

We must try to have liturgy in a pentacost of languages. Itmust be enacted in the languages of the people. We should not harm the process of inculturation and indigenization. Ok keep the Latin rite as a very extraordinary for. Let our people worship and celebrate in their own languages. Not all traditions should be imposed on churches.

Even Pope Pius 6 admitted himself that NOVUS ORDO ( New Mass) has different words, gestures and ceremonies. Let's GO BACK to TRADITION and Mass of the SAINTS - TRIDENTINE LATIN MASS also called - Roman Rite.

Yes, we already have a massive priest shortage, let's add yet another thing to make the process more difficult. While I have enjoyed the few TLM's I've been to, I think mass being more accessible is far more important. Many Catholics can't make it to mass regularly and it largely has to do with how few priests there are. TLM's should be a feature, not a requirement.

All Priests and Bishops should learn where the Mass The Perpetual Sacrifice came from. Ever studied accountancy?
God communcated with Jews first not anyone else. Jews had work in progress and had been tg old the Messiah would come and give His life for the sins of the world. In expectation the Jews set up the worship of the death of the Messiah in advance. It was called Passover but Jews guided by the Holy Ghost had true worship but, with Symbolic Paschal Lamb. The entrance to the altar Introibo ad Altare Deo. The Lamb represents Messiah Offatory Prayer and so on. Remember the Jewish Passover Prayers said in the Temple in Jerusalem that Jesus attended with His Apostles on the night He was betrayed are in the Tridentine Mass and are Perpetual and can't be changed. Jesus listened to His Own Death Prayers on Passover every year. Jews had true worship. Why did the Temple fall? Strictly it was the end of time for the Symbolic Paschal Lamb. Jesus became the Paschal Lamb . Romans under the authority of Caesar carried out the crucifixion.
We are clearly told in Scripture Imposters, Hirelings, Barrabbas will be preferred (A Subsidiary church) the blind will lead the blind (Pilate was mind blinded. ) You do not listen and I will throw you out.
Rome is creating a Counterfeit that suits the Jews but its going to fail. Protestants are not joining King Charles111 has announced he will uphold the Protestant faith.

Why not have Liturgy in Hebrew or aramaic? Latin came later. RC should recover its Jewish roots. Lain indeed is beautifill...but I think you are all overdoing it. What is more important is the very serious problems current amongst catholic clergy

Jesus took bread and handed it to his disciples. He gave them wine to drink and asked them to do it in memory of him. No Latin, no incense, no Gregorian chant - just the language of the people sharing in the simple meal of the time, celebrating Jesus with us then, now and always. Back to basics doesn't include the trappings of the Latin Mass but rather a celebration of the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Such a divisive interview.

The antiquarianism you are advocated has been condemned by numerous previous Popes and your insistence that 1500 years of organic traditional development reveals your protestant and revolutionary mindset. The only one who is divisive is you and your fellow revolutionaries.

That is not true whatsoever. A scurrilous comment worthy of contempt! His Excellency has set the example with how to respond to Traditionis Custodes. Just because you don't see the media reporting on his every activity doesn't mean he hasn't achieved anything. He was also recently elected to the top executive committee of the USCCB. You don't think he is influencing things there. Oh ye of little Faith (and patience)!
