    Hi, thanks for your information!
Do you know if juice made out of squeezed ( and boiled) blue grape skin is a good dye or just stain?

Can I substitute the alum with soy milk as a mordant? And when I use soy milk is it also necessary to use tannin?

Hi Jamie. I noticed that you didn't mentioned the vinegar as an ingredient for scouring as you did in your instagram, and wondered why. And also wondered what exactly do the vinegar in this process. Thank you.

      Hi Loraine!
Vinegar is only necessary when scouring cellulose fibers that will be mordanted using tannin. The vinegar neutralizes the fiber so that the tannin doesn’t have a pH reaction and change to a grey color which then alters the color of the fabric.

Can we use vinegar or salt as a mordant + do you have a video on it?

Unfortunately no, salt & vinegar aren’t mordants. It’s one of the most widely spread pieces of misinformation on the Internet. I have a blog post tutorial on mordanting as well as a tutorial on my Instagram story highlights.

When you use acorns to dye so you use the shell only? I hate to take food from the squirrels around here. 🙈
