Great video! Your indigo plants are so beautiful! I’d love to see more of your garden and how you grow things- are yours in full sun? I am trying to grow indigo this season and they are doing okay but not really taking off! Thanks :)
Thanks so much! This year I’m experimenting with sun zones in my garden. I have indigo planted in various locations so that they all get varying amounts of sun. Some are in full sun, some get morning sun and some get evening sun. Surprisingly, the plants in the full sun are doing the best. What type of indigo are you growing?
🥲🙀🙀🙀 Wow, I would’ve never imagine this as an option for Indigo. Please more videos of Indigo and your garden. Also I had never seen that leaf of Indigo. I am from Puerto Rico and the one I have in my garden are tiny little leaf’s and the seeds look like small bananas.
I’ve heard that in Mexico the traditional method to set the indigo in fabric so that the color stays darker longer, was to soak the dyed pieces in urine. Something about the acidity…
I’m in Texas - I started my first seeds indoors in late February and transplanted my first batch mid March. I continued to start seeds throughout March and April so I could stagger plant and not have to harvest all of the plants at once. My indigo growing season usually lasts until September or October and I sometimes get 3-4 harvests. If your in a mild climate, you may still get a couple of harvests!
Beautiful color...this is so interesting, I want to get started with the natural dyeing process. You have inspired me!!
Such a beautiful shade ..thnk you for sharing

Oh yes! Your variety of indigo will work with this method as well! I’m using persicaria tinctoria in this demonstration.

Thank you. And what plants can I use with green leaves?
Would love to try this with Indigofera tinctoria to see if that works with the true indigo leaves too! 😉💙🌿
I’ve heard that it works with indigofera to critica as well! 💙🌀
Did you use your mash to extract indirubin? Did it work? It’s always hard for me to throw away any chance of extracting more from the mash!

How did you fix the indigo blue after the process was done?
Please let us know 👍
Do to the nature of indigo and how it binds to cloth, there’s no process necessary for fixing the dye.
@@thebarefootdyer thanks 🙏
I wish I could find this plant near me.
You might me able to grown some from seed. Where are you located?

Hi as we don't get indigo leaves...we get organic indigo powder..but no idea how to use it..
Hi! Indigo powder needs to be reduced in a vat to be used. I’ll be posting more videos about indigo soon!
Would love to know what part of the country you are in and when you planted your indigo. I put mine out so late this year :(

@@thebarefootdyer Great news!!! It's my first year, so fingers are crossed here in KS! Thanks for so much inspiration btw.
@@plansandprocrastination I hope you’re able to harvest and play! Would love to hear how it goes when you do. :)
What salt is used to extract the color?
Any edible salt will work.
