Great info, but I’ve noticed that when you use a paper towel to dry off your freshly cleaned mat that a lot of the fibers from the paper towel will stick to the adhesive and make the mat lose its stick again. I dry my mats with a hairdryer instead and although it takes a few extra minutes, you end up with a much stickier mat. You can also just let them air dry but I’m impatient so I used a hair dryer :p
I used the method with the LA's Totally Awesome to clean my fabric mat last night, and it worked like a charm! I did exactly like you said and took care not to press too hard, and the warm water rinse at the end rinsed away anything that was left. Thank you so much for this video and this cleaning idea. My fabric mat was not sticking anymore at all. Now it's back to like new. I'm just blown away by this.
Thank you!!! I *just* got a Cricut Joy, and on the first day using it, my daughter managed to lint up the matt that came with it so much so it was barely sticky. Thankfully, RUclips to the rescue - and I rather quickly found this channel and this video. Because I do not have baby wipes nor the dollar-tree cleaner on hand, I simply used a little bit of my dish soap and rinsed in cold water at my sink. It is almost dry now, and looks pretty good. I still have a few bits of fine black link stands remaining, but that is likely because I didn't hardly apply any pressure during my process (just used fingers and rinsed). But it is all sticky again, and I can now actually use it! In addition to this one, I've watched a few other videos and am impressed with the video quality -- both clarity of instructions and also good use of video camera angles. So definitely I have subscribed. Thank you!
I think I could listen to you talk about anything. Love your personality! And amazing tips! I totally ruined my mat by scraping too hard... the more you know.
Also clean the clear protective film as it gets dusty too. Also mark one side with black X and the other with a red X. Make sure you always put it back on with the same color X after every use. It will extend the life of your mats.
Thank you for sharing these methods! I am new to cricut world and briefly saw a post about the LA's on tiktok, but seeing all three compared is so helpful!
Since I have more than one mat I use the dish soap and water. I wash them after use when I see the stickiness decreasing and let them drop dry in a dish rack.....it's just like one of those sticky lint rollers you just washed off.....works like a charm.
I’d seen a video where you use Goo Gone and then spray mat with Loctite Repositionable adhesive. I did it and it worked great. I’ve also used Krylon repositionable spray adhesive.
Today I went to both Joann and Michaels To buy green Cricut mats and they were both sold out! I have two green mats at home and I thought they were done I’m going to try try the baby wipe technique thank you
Thanks Tanner spent the morning cleaning mats. Two I had put to one side because they were so bad - now they look like new. In UK do have found elbow grease which seems equivalent to Awesome
I use awesome most always sometimes I use dawn.lol love you said we all have baby wipes my Grandson is 17 so don't have them anymore.lol Thanks for all you guys do.
I combine steps one and two are the best results on the green mat if you use it for paper. Soaking it in lukewarm water also helps. Do not let the baby wipes I residue gets all over your mat. only air dry. All of his advice was helpful, especially about using very little pressure but for mass cleanups, I combine one and two.
I like the dawn and water. Occasionally I will use a baby wipe when I remember my kids are all adults and no grandchildren yet. Now if I do remove the adhesive I will clean it all the way and restick it with zig 2 way glue pen (the thick one) let it hang dry for about 24 hours. Of course this also for the the Brother scan n cut mats aas well.
My sister does a lot of paper cutting. So she uses LA's Totally Awesome. She's made 9 greeting cards and so far LA's Totally Awesome hasn't failed in keeping her green mats nice and sticky. She hangs them up on a shower hook and lets them dry in the shower on the shower rod.
Ooo! I like that idea of hanging them on a shower hook to dry. I tend to lay them on a counter but i don’t feel like it’s ideal drying mats on a horizontal surface.
Oh My God! how did I not see this video before now? I've been throwing mine out!( and being in Canada, they start at $21), I have a small army of pets in this house and let me tell you, no matter how much you vacuum, There will always be hair everywhere! and trust me it LOVES cricut mats! I just did the awesome on mine and wow! what an easy way to clean them! and was so satisfying scraping all the hair off!
Tanner this is such a helpful video I’m new to the Cricut world and would of just bought a new mat 🤦🏽♀️ I can’t stop looking out the kitchen sink window the rain is just pouring down - Send some of that rain over to California
I used my homemade hand soap and a baby wipe and it worked great! I haven’t been brave enough to try but knowing it just needed time to dry helped a lot so thank you!
Thanks for mentioning about pressure. I'm pretty delicate with cleaning and overall handling of the mats with the exception of when I'm applying and removing materials or little bits that get stuck after I cut something. All of a sudden I turn into the Hulk I feel. 🙂
This is old, but I need to clean my fabric mat (pink) and before I go get the LA's Totally Awesome, I just wondered if the Dawn would work just as well on the pink mat.
I have been using the alcohol-free wipes - it is so easy and like you said, I don't have to leave my craft room to do it! I like the other two methods, I will have to give those a try, too.
I'm new to the cricut machine, you showed how to clean them, I tried the baby wipe method it did work on some of the stuff on it, my question is how do you remove cat hair, would the Dawn work better for that?
Amazing quality video, MGL Team! So professional and the animated transitions were fun! And thank you for the cleaning tips - I’ve been holding off cleaning my mats until this video was released (saw the original with the LA cleaner).
If I pressed too hard with the scrapper, losing the mat’s stickiness do I just reapply totally awesome and do it more gently or do I use another technique?
The awesome spray worked AMAZING! I think all the people saying it didn’t work just let it sit way too long! I let mine sit for just 2 minutes and actually just used a napkins to wipe off all the gunk. IT’S SOOOO STICKY NOW!!
I saw a few recent videos saying that the new mats the totally awesome doesn't work on them anymore and could potentially ruin the mats, my biggest concern is the fabric mat, is there a new updated way to clean it off properly? Or do the other techniques still work?
Hi... I’ve been watching how to clean your cricut mats mat video. The suggestions you had were great, but I have allergies and need to use natural and/non-toxic no smell products. Can you make some additional suggestions? Thanks beforehand-:)
Love your content! I was about to buy a new one and then thought wait... I bet Tanner knows. I used the dawn dish detergent method. My mat is like brand new now. Thanks!!
I bought a maker from my cousin and the mats are dirty and don't have the protective cover what can be used as a cover? And I'm going to try these methods thank
I cant wait to try this idea but i have a question. Do i need to dilute the la's totally awesome with water or do i just use it straight out of the bottle?
What do I do if I put too much pressure, and it now needs more sticky? I used the baby wipe method. And should I keep the plastic film on them when not in use?
No reply to the last question and have another one, now. I got the Totally Awesome, and am still a little leary about scraping. Could you use the Totally and baby wipes, instead?
Great video as always. I used the LA Awesome and it worked great. I had no problem with using light pressure. I was amazed at how much gunk was on the mats.
Hello, my ne is Mildred and this video was the most updated video I Found. I was hoping you could help me. I just purchased a cricut maker. I am trying to connect via Bluetooth on my chomebook and it will not stay connected. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thank you
I found a great way to make my mat sticky again when after several cleanings, the stickiness went away. I found "Basting Adhesive" on Amazon and sprayed it on my mat that no longer had any sticky left and it worked really well. Just spray it on the mat, let it dry and the stickiness is back.
I just cleaned a VERY used mat with Awesome and it literally ate the paint right off the mat before I even used the scraper at all. I sprayed it on and left the room, when I came back the paint was already gone from the areas that are outside the cutting area. It looked like I had scratched all over the edges. So I very gently used the scraper on the cutting surface and in a couple places the paint started to come off there too. I wish I could share a picture here so all could see. On the plus side, the mat did get sticky again in certain areas like the center of the mat. However, I'm afraid if it use it because I think the paint will peel onto my project. You can literally gently scrap anywhere on the mat and the paint comes off after using Awesome. I'll be throwing this mat away and using the Awesome elsewhere in my home in places I don't think will get damaged. Thanks Tanner for the other ideas though. I'll be sticking with the baby wipes from here on out.
It doesn't look like the la totally awesome is the one that needs to be diluted(?) Can you clarify if it is a different version than mine is. Mine does not have a pump spray either it is the concentrated. Thanks so much
Hi Tanner, Crew and Everyone. Can you use these 3 different techniques interchangeably? Like, can you use the baby wipes on all types of mats or just certain ones? The same with the LA's Totally Awesome and Dawn, can they be used on all the types of mats or just certain ones? Thank you in advance and thank you so much for all the AWESOME Videos and Help!
I panicked one day because I needed a mat and mine was so dirty I had to go buy a new one.. I'm glad I saved it though and wish I had known this years ago!!
Are your cleaning processes for the mats you cleaned for those particular products? Such as Dawn for the blue, awesome for the fabric and baby wipe for the green? Or does it matter? I just cleaned my mats and I used Mr Clean Clean Freak, hopefully it worked, I’ll find out when they dry.

I think I could listen to you talk about anything. Love your personality! And amazing tips! I totally ruined my mat by scraping too hard... the more you know.
Thank you so much for saying that, you're so sweet!
Me too! 🙄🙄🙄
You are so patient .
It's satisfying watching it come off on the fabric mat.
It is very satisfying! Thank you for watching and commenting!
No disrespect but I love how your accent makes it sound like you're saying "baby WAP"

OMG CANNOT UNHEAR!! 🤣🤣😂😂
Definitely cannot unhear that lol.

By far the best tutorial on cleaning mats on RUclips! Thank you…..plus you are adorable 😁
You are so welcome!
It's alive! It's alive!! All I needed was a few baby wipes! Worried at first but I let it sit as advised and I basically have a new mat thanks again!
WooHoo!!!! So happy for you!!!!! Yay for *practically* new Cricut mats!
thank you for sharing these amazing ways of cleaning my mats. I used Dawn dish soap the 1st time and used too much pressure. I learned the hard way.
Since I have more than one mat I use the dish soap and water. I wash them after use when I see the stickiness decreasing and let them drop dry in a dish rack.....it's just like one of those sticky lint rollers you just washed off.....works like a charm.
Amazing!
Thank you for sharing this video on how to clean your Cricut mats sure learned something new today and will give it a try.
I’d seen a video where you use Goo Gone and then spray mat with Loctite Repositionable adhesive. I did it and it worked great. I’ve also used Krylon repositionable spray adhesive.
Wow! it’s pouring over by you!! Oh thx for the ideas!

I am new but I got a used cricut joy with mats. So I am learning.
Not sure how I missed this video, but this is a total game changer! I like the baby wipes!
Today I went to both Joann and Michaels To buy green Cricut mats and they were both sold out! I have two green mats at home and I thought they were done I’m going to try try the baby wipe technique thank you

Amazing!!! So glad to hear it!
This video has the most amazing lighting! I don't know if it's because of cloud cover from the rain, or the lighting of the room. Great video!
Awe, thank you!!! That's so sweet of you to say! It's definitely a big change from our SUPER WHITE studio haha!
I use awesome most always sometimes I use dawn.lol love you said we all have baby wipes my Grandson is 17 so don't have them anymore.lol
Thanks for all you guys do.
Great!! I always keep baby wipes around, I guess I thought everyone else did too, lol! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thanks Tanner for the demo of all the cleaning products and techniques. Very helpful.
We're so glad it was helpful for you!

I tried the baby wipe on my blue mat. Worked great! Thanks for this video.
Great to hear!😀
My sister does a lot of paper cutting. So she uses LA's Totally Awesome. She's made 9 greeting cards and so far LA's Totally Awesome hasn't failed in keeping her green mats nice and sticky. She hangs them up on a shower hook and lets them dry in the shower on the shower rod.

Outstanding Transformation of a "loved" mat! Thank You Tanner/MGL team! Jacquie
Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for sharing these tips., I just got my explore air 2 and have used my blue mat so much. it may need some cleaning..

Thanks to one of your previous videos, I use the Awesome cleaner. My mat is better than new!
Yay! We're so glad it helped you!
Hi
Thanks for explaining the warranty I’m only a few months into owning my cricut so I’ll wait. Thanks again
Glad this was helpful!
I used my homemade hand soap and a baby wipe and it worked great! I haven’t been brave enough to try but knowing it just needed time to dry helped a lot so thank you!

This is old, but I need to clean my fabric mat (pink) and before I go get the LA's Totally Awesome, I just wondered if the Dawn would work just as well on the pink mat.
Question about the lint left from the paper towels, would it be better to use a clean dish towel or microfiber towel to dry it?
Feel free, but we've never had an issue using the paper towels! :) Just don't get the super cheap ones that are extremely linty. Best of luck!
So helpful! I’ve been watching a bunch of your videos and it has helped me so much
Glad it was helpful! Thank you SO much for watching!!😀❤
Have used the wipes and the cleaner not the dawn will try the dawn the others work well also!
yay!
They don't want you to clean them because then you wouldn't have to buy new ones!
Exactly!
I agree I have bought over 20 in the last 2 years or so smh
I was about to throw away my mats but I will try cleaning them instead. Thank you! 💕
Yes, at least try!!! You will be shocked with the results!
Thanks for all 3 ideas. I use the awesome from you now. Gonna try baby wipes. Love watching you and the rain outside. :)
How sweet of you to say, Kendra!
I have been using the alcohol-free wipes - it is so easy and like you said, I don't have to leave my craft room to do it! I like the other two methods, I will have to give those a try, too.

@@MakersGonnaLearn Do the Baby Wipes have to be alcohol-free? What brand do you suggest?
Thank you! I know what I’m going to be doing this afternoon! Again, thanks.

Hi this is great! What about using something like a Cottonelle wipe instead of a baby wipe? Is there something special about the baby wipes?
As long as it's unscented you're good! :)
Wow! Baby wipes worked so well! Thanks
You’re welcome 😊
I'm new to the cricut machine, you showed how to clean them, I tried the baby wipe method it did work on some of the stuff on it, my question is how do you remove cat hair, would the Dawn work better for that?

Yes, we love that option too!!
Thanks Tanner. I’ve been using Dawn. So happy to learn of the other 2.

Amazing quality video, MGL Team! So professional and the animated transitions were fun!

I like the LA's Totally Awsome and Baby Wipes method. Can these two products be used on all the mats or do you recommend them used on certain ones?
Hello! All of these methods can be used on any of the mats :)

Great Video. Can't wait to try the LA's Totally Awesome again. I used it wrong the first time.
Yes! We hope you enjoy it!
I've tried all 3 methods but I lightly use a dish brush instead of the scrapers with either totally awesome or dish soap.
Great tip!
Love your content! I was about to buy a new one and then thought wait... I bet Tanner knows. I used the dawn dish detergent method. My mat is like brand new now. Thanks!!
Thank you so much!!! So glad you enjoyed the video!
There are so many awesome sprays at dollar tree. Which one do I choose? I didn’t see anything that looked like your spray bottle.
I bought a maker from my cousin and the mats are dirty and don't have the protective cover what can be used as a cover? And I'm going to try these methods thank
Thank You Tanner For This Awesome video

I just tried the dawn dish soap. Worked great!
Wonderful!
I have one that one of my cats took a nap on I'm going to try these before chalking it up as a loss

Can you use the baby wipes on the pink mat?
sure!
Can you use the Dawn foam spray, or does it need to be the regular Dawn dish soap? I love the baby wipe idea! Thanks for sharing these awesome tips!
Use what you have! But we have always used original dawn dish soap!
Does it matter if it is a baby wipe or a WetOne hand sanitizing wipes?
Can I use an alcohol wipe? Also, do I have to use Dawn? Or can I use any dish soap?
Does it have to be dawns dish soap or will any dish soap work?
