I forgot to mention, you could always change up the ratio and add more water to the mixture to lower the tackiness for the light grip mats (2 parts water and 1 part glue). The same for the strong grip mats, you could do 2 parts glue and 1 part water (or simply 2 coats of the 1:1 ratio). I hope this helps 💛
Done all this except the tacky glue. Mine still has all the glue but your method is by far the best imo and I already have that glue so when mine do eventually loose their sticky after cleaning I now know what to do. TYSM 🥰🥰🥰
You are welcome! I am glad you want to try it out 😊 When I first tried it, I was seriously SHOOK how good the glue worked! Let me know if it works out for you 💛
Hi, this is a great hack!! Does the glue come off when you clean the mats like you showed in the first part or do you have to apply glue again or will it just work 1 time?
You are welcome!! I am glad you found it helpful 💛 Yes! That’s actually a great idea, you could put them sitting next to a sunny window and it would help dry them quicker
Bonjour, oui votre vidéo est vraiment très intéressante et je vais acheter cette colle pour redonner vie à mes tapis. Merci pour les doses que vous avez inscrit ci-dessous très important aussi. Bien cordialement

No. This glue is designed to not dry hard and instead dries to remain tacky. The regular flies will dry into a hard almost plastic or hard rubber texture and will not be sticky at all. You need to use the correct type glue for this method to be successful
You are welcome!! I am glad you found it helpful ☺️ I actually have lost a lot of mine too! Lol What I do is clean the back of my mats and stack them behind each other after they are dry. I keep them hung up on my wall so they don’t get dirty on my working table
Hi Girl, I ask you, What kind of hack Resticking mat about Cricut Mat... I'm newbie 3 week, I'm from Philippines in the part Cebu. :) Thank you for share.
How do you not get baby wipe fibers all over your cleaned mats? also, why do you not scrape the old adhesive off and does it make the surface uneven to keep the old adhesive on? Thank you! I hope to clean the like 50 mats I have cause I keep buying them lol
I feel like the water and dish soap mixture really helps the wipe glide off the mat nicely without leaving any fibers behind! Versus doing it on a dry mat and getting stuck on the adhesive. 😊 As for the adhesive, I personally wouldn’t want to take the time to take it off because as long as you clean your mats first, you wouldn’t have an uneven surface. Just make sure to scrape away any material off when cleaning them to avoid that. I hope that helps! 💛
It won’t leave any glue residue at all since the adhesive was diluted with water and the new coat of adhesive is very thin. ☺️ Just make sure it is completely dry before you use the mat for projects
Correct, anything with alcohol in it will remove the adhesive from the mat and only add to the problem. I use dish soap, A stiff small scrub brush and warm water to wash mine after each use and that keeps them the longest: I will be trying this re-tack method and see how that works for me now because a few of my mats are at the end of their useful life right now so it won’t hurt to try it out on them.

Thank you! That was my first thought- that they would all end up having the same stickiness
@@lauriemcaleenan5986 You are welcome! :)
it works! thank you so much
I was just coming to the comments to ask about this lol so the 1:1 ratio leaves it at green mat stickiness?
I do this method also, but I use a foam roller to apply mixture more evenly and a lot quicker. ☺
Thanks so much, great recycling and less waste. Very good explanation ❤🎉🎉🎉
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful 💛
Thanks for giving my overused mats another chance of revival. Appreciate your help regarding Aleene's Tack-It.🤩
Thank you, I have this product. I will put this on the back of my sticky mat so it will stay out in my stamping machine. Thank you
thank you!! appreciate the time spent on this~!
Never heard of tack it and tack it. I will give that a try.
Thank you so much!!

Thanks for this. I’ve heard about using tack it but wasn’t sure how.
Which another glue option will you recommend??? In Australia that over and over again isn't easy to find... Thx
I follow u on tiktok so happy I found u here
This is awesome advice 😍😍
Thanks for watching! ☺️
Thank you so much for sharing this. This will definitely save me a lot of money.
You are welcome! ☺️ Glad you found it helpful
Do I need to add more adhesive to the strong grip mat?
What did you mix again with the tack it? Water and glue?
Thanks for sharing! I have just cleaned my mats and ready to put the glue can it be put under the sun for faster dry time?
You are welcome!! I am glad you found it helpful 💛 Yes! That’s actually a great idea, you could put them sitting next to a sunny window and it would help dry them quicker
Just use quilter's basting spray. Works quicker and you don't have to worry about the mixing.

So smart😁😁
Hi, how long the stickyness stays on the mat?
hi honey, thanks so much for this. let me ask you, Can I use a hair dryer instead of the heat gun ?
How long does the stickiness last?
Hi after cleaning and adding the glue can you place the clear film back on the mats
Yes! Putting the clear film back on again will help prevent getting any debris or lint on them 😊
Does the Tack-it glue change the “sticky-level” of the mat? Like will my light grip mats still work well on thinner cardstock?

@@johnaesnell3560 You are welcome! :)
Definitely trying this have 2 mats that won't just stick any more. Do you know any other glue that can also work
I hope you give it a try! 😊 I haven’t personally tried it but some crafters also use the 2-way glue jumbo pen from Michaels
I have the clear gel tacky glue from Aleenes .. does that work too?
No. This glue is designed to not dry hard and instead dries to remain tacky.
The regular flies will dry into a hard almost plastic or hard rubber texture and will not be sticky at all.
You need to use the correct type glue for this method to be successful
Thank you, I have a brother scan and cut and will use this. Any ideas of what to use to keep the mats covered if the original is lost?

@@DIYholic Thank you👍🏼🥰
Acetate sheets are perfect replacement covers. The 12by12 sizer are perfect to cover the sticky area and preserve it between uses
@@pantalonious3984 Thank you!
Can Aleene's original tacky glue be used to restoring stickiness to mats???
I use that glue for many projects and I don't think it would work, it dries hard and clear very fast.
Hi Girl, I ask you, What kind of hack Resticking mat about Cricut Mat... I'm newbie 3 week, I'm from Philippines in the part Cebu. :) Thank you for share.
Does it leave residue on the material after? I used tacky glue meant for screen printing boards but it leaves a tacky residue on my stickers 😩
Can we use the 1 in the Brown bottle from the same brand?
Hi no it’s not the same thing
How much glue and water. I only have a couple mats that need done.
Look at her pinned comment.

As I’m in the uk I’m wondering if there is something similar to your tack it for me to buy and use?? Anyone else from the uk know?
Can you still place the plastic over the mats???
Yes! You are still able to place the cover like you normally would ☺️
What about the glue residue? Won't it end up on my material?
It won’t leave any glue residue at all since the adhesive was diluted with water and the new coat of adhesive is very thin. ☺️ Just make sure it is completely dry before you use the mat for projects
I just discovered using hand sanitizer will take the stickiness off faster
