Love that I found this video. I just used my mat for the first time after following these steps to make a text cutout design. It worked great! Thank you so much. You saved me from buying more mats. I'm going to do the same with the other mats I bought that now need some tlc too. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much, wish I'd found your video ages ago as I've thrown out so many yucky mats in the past. Now I've treated all my mats with your method and its awesome. I've now got a lot of 'clean' sticky mats. I have told friends about your RUclips video and they are going to use your solution to worn out mats. Again, many thanks.
Great tip! I had followed another crafter's directions by using the Tack-It Over & Over full strength without water. It made my Cricut mat too sticky. I am definitely going to try this method. Thanks so much for sharing!!!!
Oh Joy!!! I'm so glad I found this! You may have just saved me so much money because I was startng to wonder If I'd have to get a new matt! Thank you so much!
Thank you for this tutorial!!!! I love that you gave us step by step instructions!!!! My mat is brand new.....and some how it's full of little black specks and not very sticky. I almost sent it back...but I will try your method first. Thank you so much!!!!!
I used this method before watching this video but I never mixed the glue with the water, it was super extra powerful sticky after the process, so I have to use some felt to remove some sticky from the mat.
Regular PVA glue won’t do the trick though. Even though the base of tack it over and over might be PVA it has something else that prevents it from drying hard. If you use regular PVA, you’ll end up with a shiny non sticky surface, so make sure you use a repositionable adhesive.
Love your video!! I could only dream of getting the glue at my dollar store for about a dollar. I have tried re-sticking my mat with Elmer’s craft bond spray and it didn’t work 😢 I must’ve done something wrong because it irked on my 6x6 templates
I used to restick then with scotch repositionable adhesive, but that’s very hard to find in my country and is a lot more expensive also. It also requires a lot of space to be applied and something to protect the surface around since it spills a lot. Liquid is gastes to apply, it is a lot cheaper and a small bottle goes a really long way.
ok..earlier i would say Aleens tack it over and over glue was fantastic.....but later i found the quality has dropped drastically...even with no mix of water..the stickiness just last maybe 1 or 2 use. I messaged them telling regarding the change in quality...as i had an old stock and a new stock and there was a significant difference. The old stock had a bluish tinge to it. The new stock is white. Anyways there was no response from them
Hello Teresa. Hope you had a great holiday. The glue I use and recommend on the video is *Aleene's Tack-It Over & Over - amzn.to/2rocCoh I really encourage you to watch the video to get all the tips and tricks. Have a great new year’s celebration.
Can i use a scotch multi purpose adhesive instead? The kind of glue that is suitable for fabric, plastic, metal, wood, felt etc. Since in my country theres hard to find the kind of glue you're using. Please advise.
Hola, amigo Chileno...👍👍👍desde Canadá. I like your videos very much. Thank you for the information, perhaps you can give me other advice regarding your SVGs and the Cricut
So am I to understand that depending on which of my mats I want to restick (light grip, standard grip etc.) how much water I use will make the difference?
New mats without the floral design have a different adhesive. Lots of people clean their old mats with LA Totally Awesome spray, but it takes the surface totally off on the newer mats. Might be the same issue with the Goo Gone
Hello. I used Aleene’s tack it over and over. Is a repositionable adhesive. The link to it is in the description box of the video. A tiny bottle horas a long way, so I would advise to buy the smallest one you can find.
Tacky glue is not a repositionable adhesive, thats why It didn't work for you. I used the same Aleene's Tack it over and over as well and its the best.

I tried several ratios and this is definitely my favorite one. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Tape helps too. This tutorial was very helpful. Thank you for sharing.

Great to know. Please let us know how that goes.
This video is fantastic, thanks so much for the descriptive process!!!

Worked! Just did it!
yay!
Thanks. Can’t wait to try this!
My mats and up broken from constant use, but never loose stickiness 😂
you are sooooo wonderful! Thanks for this cool tip! Greatings from Germany, Katrin
🤗
Awesome So glad I didn't through old one out sad I didn't find this sooner! But will def! be following this process. Thank you for sharing
Is it common for the green coloring came up with the old glue?
is 'tack it over and over' a PVA glue?
I believe so.
@@AwesomeSVGs cool, I might have to buy a cheap bottle of PVA, water it down and give it a go
thanks

@@AwesomeSVGs Ok, thanks for the advice, much appreciated.
I am anxious to try this, great video! Is it possible to dry the mat by only air drying or is a hair dryer a must?
You can totally air dry it. Just make sure no dust gets to it.
Love your video!! I could only dream of getting the glue at my dollar store for about a dollar.
I have tried re-sticking my mat with Elmer’s craft bond spray and it didn’t work 😢 I must’ve done something wrong because it irked on my 6x6 templates
Is there a reason that you don’t use spray adhesive?

I bought aleens because of another video and it feels sticky but doesn’t hold cardstock at all! Interesting to know they changed formulas
Thanks for the tips!
Hello!! I was wondering if that first step was necessary. Can't you just go straight to applying the tacky glue? Thanks!
Yes!!
You can do that. The stickiness won’t last as long though, but you can always repeat the process many times.
@@AwesomeSVGs OK. Thank you!
P.S Thanks for not having music in your video, its so annoying, wish they would do that on TV programmes :o(
What kind of glue do I use
Hello Teresa.
Hope you had a great holiday.
The glue I use and recommend on the video is *Aleene's Tack-It Over & Over - amzn.to/2rocCoh
I really encourage you to watch the video to get all the tips and tricks.

Anna Ridh just try it
is it ok to use any kind of glue that is liquid?
I think so, mostly PVA based glue is better, cleaner and odorless
i have tied this and it dose not work
Would this work for the Cricut fabric mats?
Yes it does. If they are not sticky enough, try another water/glue ratio (less water)
I used the goo gone and my mat color is coming off along with the stickiness. Am I doing something wrong?
Not really, it tends to come off. My mats are. A bit discolored, but they are still good to cut.
Did I miss the part you say what glue you used?
It’s Alene’s tacky it over and over. Links to products are in the video description. 🤗

Sure! Let me know what you need to know
Are you using animal friendly goo gone?
I tried this hack but unfortunately it didn't work 🥺
Wow thank you 😀😀
Pro tip: Goo gone adhesive remover and Goof off Super glue remover are not the same thing.
I'm buying new mats.
Why did you buy new mats, did something not work? X
@@jackieworthington6892 the superglue remover also removed the painted surface.
So am I to understand that depending on which of my mats I want to restick (light grip, standard grip etc.) how much water I use will make the difference?
It's faster and easy or easy Windex to remove goo from mats
However re-sticking the mat may be a possible way with your method
GreT info, thank you
🤗
I used goo gone and it removed all the print on the mat!
Andrew Finnell yes I had to buy new ones

3 mats for $10 on amazon. this is a lot of work to save a couple bucks, but i guess if you have more time than money it helps.... thx!
Ok so I did this and my mates are shinny but not sticky. I used tacky glue. What glue did you use and does that make a difference.?
Hello. I used Aleene’s tack it over and over. Is a repositionable adhesive. The link to it is in the description box of the video. A tiny bottle horas a long way, so I would advise to buy the smallest one you can find.

I don't think these hacks will work for ppl how make stickers. It's going to leave residue on the back of the sticker sheets
It really does not, if you use the correct dilution.
dose not work
Could you elaborate on that please?
It could help us all.
isn't it just cheaper buying a new mat ?
