I just got a cricut on Friday and used it so much my mat lost it's stick already. I washed it with dawn and didn't have much luck. (I'm pretty sure the mat had been preused as it had no cover and a few bits of vinyl already stuck to it when I opened the cricut box🙄)
Thank you for posting this. I too tried the other methods and it didn't work. I ended up getting fed up and throwing it away and buying a new one... but I saw this and tried it and WOW! It truly does work. Thank you!
IT WORKS!!!!! I just cleaned all my mats the other day using baby wipes but they still weren't that sticky anymore so I ordered new mats. I decided to try this anyway on my old mats while waiting for the new ones. UNBELIEVABLE!!! I don't have a Magic Eraser so I used coffee filters instead and it still worked great! THANK YOU!!!
You answered my question before I could ask you! Never saw this trick and will be doing it from now on! Thank you for sharing this! I would have never known as I don't go on Tik Tok.
I just tried your method and it worked beautifully!! I tried other methods and they just were not very sticky after cleaning them. This will be my cleaning method for mats from now on. Thank you!!!!
@@OurUpcycledLife it did! I had stuck a project to the strongest mat by accident and it totally would not let go. I followed your instructions and mat looks brand new! Thanks a million!
Obrigado from Brazil. My wife asked me to help her out cleaning the cricut mat. I’ll try your technique. Thank you very much and Jesus bless you and yours always
I'm really new to Cricut, I've only completed 2 projects and have totally messed up 4! I've dropped my mat a hundred times and it's a mess! Thank you for sharing this mat cleaning hack!
Bought a used cricut that came with several mats and they are very well loved and used so I'm definitely going to try this! Thanks for the step by step of everything! Looking forward to seeing more videos as I subscribed to your channel! Thanks again!
Wow, I was just cleaning my mats today with soap and warm water and the stickiness was definitely not that great. I will have to try this method tonight on the ones I thought were hopeless. I have all three of those items at home. hoping this really works!
I still have some of my original mats (over 10 years old not) - and to clean I simple use plain water and a scrub brush.. scrub well and let set overnight. All but one have come out close to 'new'. thanks for this video.. I will try it on my one mat that didn't work with the other method.
I don't use my cricut often. My mat got so bad where it wasn't sticking so I would tape the sides down 🤦♀️🤣 I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks for sharing!
it worked for me! YAY! :) make sure to use a low setting on the heat gun. I tried putting the heat gun on high and it warped my mat, so use LOW HEAT SETTING.
My cat had a little accident on my mat and I was really sad because I don’t live anywhere near a store but I tried this and It’s Fixed !! I’m so happy⭐️⭐️⭐️
This worked GREAT! Thanks for the tips! I wanted to add... do NOT use a Magic Eraser Sheet. They are too thin and flimsy. Use the original thick Magic Eraser like she uses here for best results! Thanks again!
😅I've used dish soap and a basic green scrubber, and used light to moderate pressure, depending if there are any stubborn pieces not removing. Then I let it dry. I also bought elmers temporary adhesive spray and gonna try to re=apply a coat to extend the mat's life before i get a new one.
I just tried this method and it worked beautifully! I used a 15-in-1 painter's tool to scrape it, Windex, a magic eraser, and my hairdryer on hot but on the low setting. I also used the Windex to clean up the clear plastic I keep on my mats. Like new! Thank you! Edited to add, I used this technique on my Cricut mats and I did notice that some of the color came off of the mat so I don't leave the Windex on too long and I don't scrub too vigorously but I will keep using this technique.
Freaking amazing! Thanks!! I don't know if you said it but I would advise not to scrub hard with the magic eraser as it took off some of the mat as far as I can tell. But it is so perfectly sticky now! THANKS!!
I swear I used my mat 5 times and it lost its stick already and my vinyl and paper slides all over the place! Is this normal for people ? So frustrating . I’ll try this tomorrow and I hope it works 🙏thanks for sharing
Ok, I decided to try this tonight and here is what happen for me. I had two mats that I decided to try this on, an old cricut mat that I had considered throwing away and one I got from Amazon, an offbrand, that was a ittle sticky and I had planned on using til it was no longer sticky at all. Well I was super surpised that the cricut mat. after I cleaned it. was almost good as new. But the other mat lost almost all of the stickiness it had left, in some areas lost all stickiness completely. So while I would use this method on a cricut mat going forward I wouldn't do it on an offbrand mat.
That is so weird because my mat was a off brand?? It worked great. Nothing beats a brand new mat but i guess if your mat is almost done this is certainly worth a try
I am going to have try this with the back of my Chalk Couture reusable transfers. They also have a magic eraser type product so we will see how it works and I may do a video with those products if it does. Thanks for sharing!!!
Hi Deidre, I’ve had this saved to try and it’s time so watching again. When you are wiping the mats at the end before drying was that a final pass with magic eraser or were you wiping off the cleaning debris with something else at the end? Thank you!
@@OurUpcycledLife I found some windex my husband bought and used it in a very big ventilated room. It worked beautifully thanks for sharing. Also thanks for responding :)
I just tried using a lint roller to pick up tiny pieces that were left on my mat.... The lint roller stuck to the mat and when I pulled it away some of the lint paper got stuck on the mat.. Epic fail🙄
Sadly this method does not work on an actual Cricut mat. I just did 5 of them with no success. I will have to do the spray adhesive to get the sticky back. I was so hoping this would work on my mats. Thanks for the tip anyway.

WOW. That helped so much more that I expected. I’m curious what material it’s made out of to retain that stick factor ever after scrubbing it 🤔

hi, great video but I have a quick question. Do you rinse the mat before drying? thanks, I can't wait to try this
Yes you can
Ok, I decided to try this tonight and here is what happen for me. Definitely don’t throw the clear cover away. That protects the mat from minute dust particles.
